  1. Well another pole for Vettel on a track which I personally detest as a product of modern track building, trying to emulate Monaco but only taking the bad parts (no overtaking) without the good (Atmosphere, danger, glamour). First race of the season I can't say I'm looking forward to watching.
  2. Good luck everybody, being part of the mod team is very fun.
  3. Oh right. Because people in the westen world, the UK especially, are so good when it comes to waste efficiency. I'm not saying China's in the right here but seriously... You're kidding right? China has blatant disrespect for the environment, not just here but in many other aspects. The majority of the developed world on the other hand at least takes measures to limit environmental damage and very rarely will damage the environment for no reason like the Chinese have. The problem with developed countries is that being environmental costs, and takes time as institutions and cultures are very rigid. They can never be changed overnight, but are gradually being changed, especially in the UK. I can't think of a single part of my life that isn't somehow effected by environmental though, be it at work, home or travelling. It is very obvious however that governments, especially in Europe are trying to change. China on the other hand, as we can see, are wasting god knows how much, producing an uncountable amount of waste building cities for no other reason than to make itself seem more powerful and economically strong.
  4. I'm absolutely speechless. I'm not caring about just how much it is a false economy for Chinas construction industry. I'm much more concerned with the environmental factor. Think about how much waste is produced through the construction and upkeep of pointless cities. It's just mind blowing. Then there are, as the video said, farmlands being taken by the cities as well. All I can say that this is just another thing that will come back to haunt China in the years to come.
  5. So many memories and great threads. The Islands of tipit thread made me proud, the fastest thread I have ever seen on the forum. I remember writing even a short post, then seeing 4-5 other posts appear while I had been writing it.
  6. * Jagex has made a habit of going back on their word, changing what they have said and contradicting themselves. Just because they say it won't, there is no guarantee that it won't. Personally, I believe that this won't occur but you cannot claim that it is a "fact" just because Jagex has said so. They lost the benefit of the doubt a long time ago. They may go back on their word on small things (off the top of my head I can't actually think of any though) but since day 1 they have been against Microtransactions and RWT. It is not logical to think they would now say otherwise. * So what if it's mainly cosmetic or only beneficial to pures? There are huge portions of the game only dedicated to cosmetic rewards or with benefits to a minority. That doesn't mean that people don't have a right to care about or indeed complain about it. I'm not saying people can't. I stated the fact that we know. Any deviation from that is just made up. * Why does this mean that people can't complain? If they gave everyone who paid for membership on a weekday a certain item, with the promise that they'd give the same item to people who paid on weekend at an unspecified time in the future, I believe that people would be justified in complaining as much as they are justified in complaining about people being given an item for paying in a certain way. All memberships are meant to be equal. If they want to create a "membership gold edition" then they should do so, not try and sneak it in through the back door. That is a valid complaint. Again, I stated a fact, not an opinion. Having an opinion on the fact is fine. * The fact that there is no trend of something doesn't mean that it cannot occur. About 3 times a month Jagex tried to introduce something new. It indeed does not mean it cannot occur, but it also means, along with their long standing stance against micro-transactions, it is no more likely to happen now that at any other time. Anybody who says it is the start of a trend, or continuation is totally fabricating it as it does not exist. Basing an opinion on that therefore is a bad idea. My replies in Bold.
  7. This is pretty much my opinion. You could place this thread anywhere in the last 4-5 years of Runescape's history.
  8. I'm yet to see a valid complaint that isn't here say or rumour concerning Jagex's attitude towards micro-transactions. There is a good reason why Jagex rarely listen to the community when it rarely listens to them, making up it's own judgements without all the facts or knowledge, instead inferring things that are not there and do not exist. Facts: This will not lead to microtransactions - Stated by Jagex many times This is mainly cosmetic - Only beneficial to pures or incredibly low level members, and only for a very short time This item will be available to other people by other methods later on - FAQ There is not trend of micro-transactions - They have NEVER been done before That is all we actually know. I'm fine with people having an opinion, but when it ignores the facts and seems as though no thought has gone into it, it is hard to take it seriously at all.
  9. I'm on the fence about this. I can see that it is a bit of a stupid thing to do, but I can also see that as per usual, many people are massively over-reacting (the internet does this way too often) thinking they know the future. This is a stupid thing to do, that is pretty obvious. Not due to the items having stats, but due to some members having items available to them others don't simply due to their location/payment methods. These items should be available to people using any payment methods. That would in my opinion be perfectly fine. This also does not relate one bit to the loyalty program, flagstaffs or holiday items. The reason for this is that the way of attaining those is totally different. They are not related to your method of membership, excluding player a from an item just because he pays differently from player b.
  10. It hasn't been retracted, but delayed rather. Wow, so they can't even release Facebook apps on time without any bugs? Yeah because it is definitely Jagex's fault... Nike t-shirt brand is more cooler than Runescape t-shirts. That's for sure. But why wear Runescape T-shirt produced by Jagex? It's just a cheap T-shirt. And the T-shirts ain't even cool. So again - why? Instead why not make your own Runescape T-shirt? 1) Find a art of Runescape you like 2) Go to a place you can put that art on a t-shirt 3) Congratulations, you've got yourself a nice Runescape t-shirt. People haven't been saying they won't wear them due to them not being any good, but due to them being Runescape related. It is fine if you don't want to wear a T-shirt due to your opinion on the style, which can also be said for branded clothes. What Mercifull means however is many people won't wear Runescape T-shirts, even if they like them, because of the link to Runescape, which is pretty stupid if you ask me. For this case, your example would end in the same way, people not wearing the T-shirt due to the self-imposed embarrassment of it being Runescape related.
  11. Finally saw the last episode. Great ending, chuckled when Eli said rush has been consistent.
  12. Late post by me due to the annoying as hell staff who run the BBC iplayer. I couldn't watch it live, so I was having to rely on iplayer. Unfortunately, they totally forgot to upload the part of the race that was on BBC1, only the BBC2 part from lap 31 onwards. I tried to wait and see if they would add it but even now it isn't there. Had to watch the first 31 on the highlights, then switch to the full coverage of the last half. Definitely worth the wait though! I agree with Blood, would have loved to see an actual race for the last podium space and it's disappointing that Schumacher lost the podium not because he was slower, but because he was ahead. I would have loved to see him on the podium, but it was not to be. I'm very glad Vettel finally lost a race. So much more interesting to see other teams actually take the fight to him. I think those last 10 laps made up for us losing an epic grandstand finish on the last 10 at Monaco. I personally want them to throw both KERS and DRS in the bin as well as removing all of these restrictions to save money. F1 and it's drivers are supposed to be the fastest in the world, but they are resorting to gimmicks to make them faster, not the technology, engineering and driving skill. Final note, Well earned win by Button, 6 times through the pits, in last position then back to the front.
  13. It seems I'm not the only person to have trouble seeing anything wrong in the pictures. As Sy said, the text is slightly (very slightly) odd in the first picture, and there are some boxes on the log-in screen, but apart from that it looks to be fine. This leads me to think it could be something to do with your monitor/screen somehow. Although I'm not sure how to do anything, it would definitely explain why only you can see the error.
  14. Interesting idea. Moved this to metagame discussion as it is an active research topic. Xpx, an idea may not be interesting to you, but it may to some people.
  15. My vote goes to Axe_Volcano
  16. I think it was removed almost immediately because there was an error making it not work. They have either been trying to fix it or just given up on it.
  17. Going to start editing together tomorrow. More pics!

If any companies are currently playing catch up it is undoubtedly Sony and Microsoft. The amount of effort and money they have put into emulating Wii's success with motion controls shows just how far behind they were in console sales. Love it or hate it, the fact is that it outsold the other two. It may not cater to hardcore gamers as much, but it sure as hell caters to more people overall. Unlike Microsoft and Sony who aren't exactly having the best of time with their motion controls as they are nothing more than gimmicks in nearly every game, slowing you down with arm waving where buttons would be better, Nintendo has brought something which actually innovates. Once again, they will be ahead of the curve, and this time they not only have the innovation but the 3rd party publishers to plug the hole of hardcore gamers. It isn't good when people are incredibly biased fanboys not listening to reason, but it's just as bad when people are incredibly biased the other way and don't listen to reason or actually think. Edit: thought this was quite funny:
  19. Still wondering if anybody wants to answer this. (bumping for you omni :))
  20. It isn't even so much being embarrassed by the game that I still play, as much as it is the fact that I keep a smaller tightly nit group of friends on facebook that, they either already have their own games they play or are people I work with or other professional contacts that I have hopes one day to maybe work for. I still don't see the problem with people knowing you play Runescape? Hell, I have my boss on FB and he spams me with more game requests than I can count. Either way, I can see it now, I log in onto facebook bored at work or something with my wall spammed up with [cabbage] from Jagex left and right. I don't need the always walking by casual shoulder surfer seeing that, thinking I get nothing accomplished at work, afterall how can I, Look at my wall Ive gotten so many levels and there are so many runescape updates on my facebook! You can turn off notifications so they are invisible on your wall. I also don't see how having Runescape updates on your FB wall means you are getting nothing done? I didn't quite understand that whole paragraph though. Also @ Muggi and kaida...I so totally knew thats what you guys meant the whole time! :---) I guess it just must have slipped my mind seeing as how I see anything error related about facebook I can't help but go off on a tangent about some different aspect of that nowadays. <3:
  21. I'll ignore the people who are to embarrassed by the games they play and enjoy and let them continue doing that. I attempted to share it but there is an error at the moment. I have a few friends who might be interested. God forbid they know of the game I am interested in! They may actually reveal themselves as friends who don't judge based on a game. Shock horror... I'm quite unsure as to how offering deals to customers is classed as desperation. It seems to most of the judgemental people here who, as per normal, hate any move Jagex make, think anything other than running the game and cranking out weekly updates is desperate and pointless.
  22. Haha i love the poster. Unfortunately, the picture needs to be 320x240. I could crop/shrink it but I think you would probably prefer to do it yourself so I don't remove anything you want. P.s second.
  23. Any chance of a QFC to that? My understanding was Jagex's official stance on trust games was that they were, although technically not violating any specific rule, "against the spirit of the game". Indeed, that is the exact response we got directly from Jagex.
  24. Well normally they go down after an update, but usually they are back up well before this length of time. Along with Mod Emilee's post, something seems odd.
