The death of making money by skilling.
It isn't a bad thing skilling making less money than the dangerous methods, but the amount other methods can make compared is just over the top. When you will have to spend an hour or two skilling with one of the very limited amount of skills which can make money just to break 1m, you can get a drop worth 100m in the same time.

The death of making money by skilling.
The RS economy is just different. In real life, raw materials are worth less then finished goods. In RS, its the opposite in many cases, since potential/stored XP is a large factor in item prices. There is nothing wrong with that. But that was not always the case. The reason potential exp is a factor is because of the Skill capes as I said. If you go back pre-skill cape, raw materials were much more dependant on ease of collecting and how much profit could be made through a production skill. Take for example sharks. When the price of raw sharks rose to the price of cooked sharks, people would stop cooking them forcing the raw price down. Now, simple breaking even or making a low loss keeps the price down for those wanting an easy skill cape.

The death of making money by skilling.
I have said it before and will say it again, many skills money making ability went down the drain with the arrival of skill capes. Prior to that the people who wanted to make money off a skill would train the skill to do so, and those that didn't want to wouldn't. But with the skill capes, everybody wants to do the skills for the cape alone making the price of the items the skills produce worthless or lose money. Remove skillcapes and skills such as cooking, fletching, smithing and herblore would eventually be able to make money like they should do.

09-Jun-2010 - Castle Wars Kill Streak Competition
The problem has not been that it is in Castle wars, but the fact it is not based on aspects unique to castle wars. It is also being based on an activity which is almost guaranteed to be won by somebody with lots of money and high levels, opposed to something in which many people could try to do with a fair chance of winning. For example, they could do resources gained in TB, performance in BA, items gathered in SC, scores made in CW, but no, they choose kills in CW, which could easily been done in many different areas.

I think smart use of the catapults and ballista's could challenge mages.

I agree, my main worry is that a player in manipulation clan x is going to come along with the best gear possible just to get the membership and will not want the signed art at all. I have no problem with people getting the art I would rather it wasn't tied to the membership in which people will generally prefer. I also think it would be nice to at least have the event which is in Cw be aimed at Cw players. We have art competitions for artists, we have machinima competitions for video artists, we have pking tournaments for pkers, we have a cw event for, oh wait, pkers again...

Because Jagex is trying to appeal to the majority. They clearly need more $$ Surely basing it on something which will require masses of money, much more than the majority have to win is not appealing to the majority. Appealing to the majority would be basing it off something in which levels and gear have much less effect on, such as what i have suggested which is overall scores over the weekend. Gear and levels still have an effect, but much less, as a person in black dragon-hide with skill can do as good as an average person with Armadyl.

I'm sorry but that was only one line in your post, hardly the main point. I do not even understand what you are trying to say. Are you saying that these guys with 1b+ banks who are going to be bringing divines, curses and zuriels into Cw over the weekend are doing it to get a piece of artwork? Have you not met the Runescape community? The artwork will be nothing more than a second thought to the majority of the people attempting to win, which is an informed observation formed over years of playing this game and seeing how the community acts. They won't throw the artwork away, but it will not be the main thing they are aiming for. However, MY main point is that why host an event around PK in a minigame that requires very little of it to play successfully? It would make more sense in my opinion to base the competition on scores made over the weekend instead of kills if hosting an event in castle wars, as scoring is the major aspect of the mini-game. It would make much more sense to me if we were going to have an event based around purely killing, why not host it at Clan wars or in a PVP world and not a game which involves much much more than just the killing.

Yes is my wisdom of being in top CW clans for the past 5 years, creating one, council in two different #1 CW clans, being a long time player of the mini-game I can say that I know a lot more than 'Jack'. In terms of Pking in cw no, it won't take much more than gear skills and levels, that is what I'm saying. The regular cw players who would appreciate signed art are not going to be able to compete with players coming in just to win the membership. There are very few die hard castle wars players who have the money to compete for this. However, if it was on score streaks instead of kill streaks, then those who play Cw and have experience in it would have a much better chance and would not be based as much on who has the most money and higher levels.

I agree. It would promote playing the game to win and score instead of promoting pking.

It sounds good except the concept art signed reward. I can almost guarantee this will not go to somebody who enjoys cw but somebody who is an incredibly rich manipulator/monster hunter who can afford the best gear. They will be trying for the free membership only and the other reward will be almost discarded. Even the top-line cwers will find it hard to win the event. I would much prefer an event in which the person who got the most scores over the weekend won or something castle wars only related.

Post all RS Screenshots, Videos, and Sounds here!
I wouldn't count gear which costs upwards of 5m to be welfare to be honest. Now if you were using items worth under 200k, then I would. But congrats on 13k rating, what rs ranking is that?

I broke my promise. But I am bringing this back to try and finish it off (and expand it if we can get enough people) [spoiler=Grid] Also, I guess the gallery guys didn't manage to get their word done, so I'm going to be filling their reserves and any others.

I would do it but my in-game char doesn't wear bandos so I wouldn't use the signature as it wouldn't relate to me.

I've got $181 to spend at Gamestop.
A 360 is fine on an older TV. I use a large tube TV for my 360 and to be honest I see very little difference between that and my friends HD tv when playing most games.

Tip.It Times - 06th June 2010
I think it would have been nice to have had the overall exp minimum required to complete all the quests included in the first article to give some facts to the skill levels section. But good articles none the less. Plus 06th looks very strange to me for some reason.

Is 00's Music it's own Decade yet?
Listening to some 80's music today, I remembered that we are now out of the 00 decade, but unlike 70's, 80's, 90's etc, it has yet to be defined as it's own decade as far as I have seen. Do you still class it as new or modern music opposed to it being it's own decade or do we still have to wait a few years for styles to change out of what we had a few years back? Does anybody also have some music they would classify as 00's music just as much as they would classify other things as 90's music for example.

Let us upload pictures/screenshots to Runescape.com
I think going through all the screenshots would be incredibly inefficient. I think before they allow any uploads, they need to first sort out their forums moderation process.
