  1. Don't worry, those who bot cannot defend themselves here as if anybody was to admit to botting they would swiftly be banned. This is more of a discussion of how much they effect the game.
  2. You didn't answer any of my other reasons. Do that first. In fact, you probably make just as much getting to 99 hunter as I would getting 99 attack at Az's, probably more. Your reasons are legitimate reasons why Mhing should make more money. It isn't however a reason as to why Mh'ing profit has risen over tenfold in the last few years, yet skilling has not risen any significant amount, and is now becoming even harder due to the bots mentioned in this thread. It is just totally out of proportion. Mhing has also imo gotten less risky due to graves, which is a small but still goes against the massive rise in profits made.
  3. So what if I spend just as much time getting 99 wc, 99 fishing and 99 hunting, should I then be able to make the same money as Mh'ing? you can make much more money than skilling at much lower levels too. You may have x high levels, but at lower levels you can still make more than skilling. The time spent to make more than a skiller isn't as large as people seem to assume. Your average scaper will also train combat skills before skills as well, which means they will probably have fairly high combat skills before they even think of mainly getting money.
  4. Ooh never thought of that. I doubt it but it does ask as to why they didnt just do an open beta, server sizes? It there was a disclosure agreement it would be quite hard to regulate outside of RSOF forums and i reckon many, many videos would still appear on youtube, I wonder if jagex would try to get the videos taken down. Ultimately though I doubt there would be a agreement. ~Duck I see no reason why they would need non-disclosure so I doubt they would do it. Videos may even be good advertising for them.
  5. It isn't that it is worse, it is that it is getting progressively worse. Since GWD, getting drops worth 30m+ is commonplace. the amount of time it takes a skiller to get that much money is way out of proportion. The main problem then is that the proportion money making due to MH'ing has grown far far far outweighs the money making through skilling has grown. It isn't solely down to botting though, the introduction of the GE has had a large impact on the effectiveness of skilling as a moneymaker. The whole economy seems to be in a pretty dire state when you consider the merchant clans that can buy out an item if they feel like it, getting rid of bots won't solve many of the problems we have ingame right now (although it's a step in the right direction). Surely though the graphs on the first page show the large effect that bots are having on the prices. I can't imagine any other single thing having such a large effect.

  7. It may take less with grinding, but I think I can safely say your average scaper will take longer to get 85 mining, high rc or high farming than it takes them to get higher combat levels.
  8. I'm afraid you will have to complete the mini-game.
  9. Welcome one and all to TIF
  10. Exactly. Skillers shouldn't make more than Mh's, but they also shouldn't make such low amounts. The prices of raw materials and the such have been driven to unnaturally low prices due to bots. That is a fact. Without them, the prices would naturally flow and ebb with the community which would alternate between skilling and mh'ing for money as the prices fluctuated. With bots however, prices cannot fluctuate as they are supposed to which keeps the profits made from skilling a pittance compared to other methods. I can see no argument against getting rid of the bots apart from selfish reasons as follow; Higher level players want cheaper resources Higher level players want their money making to make so much more than others Higher levels don't want others to make money To cowboy14: Please for the love of god stop quoting peoples levels as a reason to diminish their opinion. You don't need to have a level to know what comes with it.
  11. Then why does WoW have so many more players? Maybe that's what people like. <_< But this isn't WoW. If people want to do that they can play that game can't they. Players want to have choice. The consensus from the richer players is to level up and mh to make more money. Where is the choice in that? There only seems to be one choice and one direction to take to be successful in this game. The game was not built to be like that. The only reason it is like that is because MH profit has increased while skilling has not.
  12. Kind of makes you appreciate the work that Jagex puts in  Where is that from?
  13. The rich want to stay rich and they want the poor to stay poor as usual. The point of runescape is supposed to be choice. There are hundreds of things to do in this game, yet every time this discussion comes up, those who can make millions per hour just say something along the lines of Well I spend hours getting the levels so why shouldn't i get more money? Guess what, those who skill spend hours getting levels too. Woodcutters spend hours getting their levels because they choose too. Why should they be penalised for that just because you chose a different path? You should be able to do everything in this game and make reasonable money doing so. The argument of risk vs reward wasn't so bad back when the most expensive drops were below 20m, but now that you can get drops worth upwards of 60m, the difference compared to skilling is out of this world. If most items were still lost on death then I would agree more that it is risky, but it really is not. People do not seem to realise that new players cannot hope to get wealthy to become the next generation of monster hunters. The poor cannot monster hunt due to the wealthy crashing them, and they cannot skill for money due to its hugely low gp/h compared to items needed. Gp/h for skilling has remained flat for years, yet the gp/h made from monster hunting has increased tenfold. How is that fair? This isn't WoW, we shouldn't force lower levels to grind their way to the highest levels to get access to the game making everything beforehand obsolete. Everything should have a role to play.

  15. The problem with your observations is that you assume raw items and the such need low prices. If the prices go up It is not all bad. With bots gone, it will be much easier for the poverty gap in the community to narrow. Currently, the rich are incredibly rich and the poor who mine, WC, fish and hunt stay at a constant poor because the price of items stays low. If these prices rise, the rich have to spend more which brings their wealth down, but which raises the wealth of the poor who would have a much easier time making the money. It would also decrease the wealth gap between those who skill and those who monster hunt/merchant. I see it as a good thing that bots get removed, and personally i think drastic action needs to be taken to get rid of many bots at the moment as they have become just as much of a plague as they were during the level 3 bot years. If you think prices are too high, gather the items yourself.
  16. I have to admit i never thought botting there was as large of a problem. It definitely wasn't last time I was there about 10 months ago. Something urgently needs doing about it.

  19. Applied, but not hopefully of getting in knowing just how many people will have applied by the time it comes out.
  20. Played such a strange map today. It was an obstacle course which went vertical up inside a tower with basically an obstacle on each floor. The zombies started behind a glass wall and were released 30 seconds after the humans. At the top there were masses of weapons and an ammo vending machine which once you got to had to survive for 5 minutes. It was so funny trying to figure out the obstacles for the first few times.
  21. He uses a Hammer at the start though, so it isn't exactly soloing with a bronze dagger imo.
