Went and saw Brother Ali last night. It was my first small-venue hip-hop show, and it was really awesome. There was just so much more energy there than I expected. I definitely have to try to make it out to more haha.

I'm partial to everything bagels but I agree Everything bagels are p great too but they're like 8/10 while asiago bagels are like 11/10

So that date ended up actually going really well! We just ended up talking over Bubble Tea; it was a lot of fun though! So early on in the date, she asked me what i was doing with the rest of the weekend, and I mentioned that I was going to a party later that night. over the course of the next hour or so, she mentioned twice that she had nothing to do that night and wanted to do something, etc. At the end of the date after I hugged her goodbye she said she had a ton of fun and was really glad that she met me. Figuring I couldn't really get more of a signal than that, I invited her to the party I was going to. She said she'd love to come and to send her more details later in the night. She ended up bailing though which is not a big deal because she seems so obviously interested. What do I do from here lol? I'm going to a concert on Tuesday with some friends that's pretty close to our campus, and I also could do something this Wednesday or Thursday night cause it's a low-workload week for me. She mentioned that she was going to be going out of town for a competition this weekend though so that's out of the picture. I've just never really made it to this point and I'm lost lmfao.

So the night before Halloween I met a girl while we were in line at the thrift store to buy our costumes. We kept talking throughout the line, but eventually the lines split and she finished checking out first, but still waited for me to finish checking out to say goodbye. I had to go to a meeting so we went opposite ways after that, but we were both planning on going to the same halloween party the next night and thought we might meet there. Come Halloween I never actually made it to that party, as my apartment's pregame ended up getting big enough to not have to leave (and I blacked out, but...shhh). However, I decided to add the girl on facebook a couple days later on a whim, as we had a couple mutual friends so she was easy to find. Well she started messaging me last night, and after a couple messages I pitched a meet and she was super enthusiastic. So now I have a date saturday (y). It feels really great doing this with someone I met in person like that rather than over Tinder and I have a feeling it will go a lot better than either of my tinder dates so far have because it won't be the awkward first-time-ever-meeting phase and she seems a lot more interested than the other girls did. Here goes~ Edit: Also I'm convinced the "hey you seem interesting" style openers utterly do not work in the context of tinder where half the girls dont actually have anything about themselves on their profiles. What other kinds of openers have you guys had luck with? being called out on that and trying to come up with a shitty answer and not getting any more messages from someone you matched with is p lame lol. though i guess these girls giving me shit for that are probably the same ones that just wouldn't have answered otherwise.

newark [bleep]ing blows. my whole time there was sketchy as hell trying to rush through the subway as homeless people yelled at me for not approaching them or giving them money Thankfully, my hotel was actually in New York City, which was pretty cool. Got here too late in the night to really enjoy much of it but i got to go to a couple stores and get some NY pizza at least. The company booked a five-star hotel for me too which is nuts, I doubt I'll ever be in a hotel this nice again. Like the place is almost as large as the five-bedroom apartment I'm currently living in lol.

idk that the meetup has to be within 24 hours, sometimes people are legitimately busy/ out of town, as long as you get something set up. this coming from somebody who has had no luck with anything more than first dates off tinder though so take this with a grain of salt i guess haha

Ah damn :/ yeah I'm flying on the company's budget and they won't approve anything that isn't necessary for the interview unfortunately. And if the area sucks, while it is a bummer, it isn't that big of a deal haha, I have a project I have to work on due thursday at midnight so that honestly might be for the best.

lmfao as... interesting as that sounds, I won't be there friday night. While I haven't confirmed my flight yet, I would probably be arriving sometime Thursday afternoon and leaving Friday afternoon. I'd be staying around Newark/Jersey City if that's anywhere by you lol.

Ended up scoring an on-site interview with Goldman Sachs technology division this Friday, so I'm getting flown out to their Jersey office. Should be cool, I'm not entirely sure I'd want to work there but I've never been to New Jersey before so it'll be an experience at least. holla @ RPG???

After pretty much bombing my Operating Systems exam today I went to see Flying Lotus with some friends. FAR and AWAY the best show I've ever been to. holy [bleep]ing shit.

This. Or the guy is just friendzoned as [bleep]. been there. And I wouldn't say it's from not respecting the decision. If they were friends before he could be legitimately trying to avoid losing the friendship, thinking that somehow putting up with constantly being around someone you're ridiculously attracted to that will never reciprocate your feelings no matter how much you say you care about each other is more worthwhile than breaking the relationship off. Been there too. Anyways the date was today, it went... alright. I don't know. We met at a bubble tea place and talked for an hour. We have the same major except I'm a year ahead of her, and while I thought that would be a good thing it ended up being a negative as she found a way to bring anything we discussed back to talking about homework. It was mostly pleasant I guess but I didn't really feel like it accomplished much, nor do I really have any eager desire to go out of my way to talk to her again. Mnleh. There wasn't any physical contact whatsoever but it just felt weird when she made half of the conversation into class advice and I couldn't really think of better ways to push the conversation. At least it's experience though I guess. Anyways I have another date with another girl doing the same thing next week now lol. Any advice for avoiding something similar happening again? This girl is in a complete polar opposite field of study which I think will be good because it'll avoid all that weird homework talk but at the same time I could use the advice on keeping the conversation flowing/how to not make it get stuck in utterly uninteresting ruts. Also I'm not sure how to handle the fact that the date we scheduled isn't for another 9 days lol.

Had an interview with IBM today. Really hoping this works out cause I'm 0-3 with interviews so far from this recruiting season and I really don't want to have to repeat this whole search in the winter ugh. Also I had no idea that IBM was still doing anything relevant because you never hear their name discussed as much anymore, but some of the software projects that they are doing (like the applications of IBM Watson) are just amazing. I have a programming project due tomorrow that, as of last night, my group is only getting about a 53% on unless we pull some crazy fixes in today. And I haven't even started studying for my two midterms tomorrow because of how much I've been working on this project... this will be a fun night.

It's apparently one of the ugliest ones on campus according to my housemates that are in frats here unfortunately. Getting told you aren't getting an offer after an interview that you felt went fantastically is such a shit feeling.

Today I learned a sorority rented out my entire apartment building for next year and my landlord won't let us renew our lease. Wow I'm SO excited to look for apartments again!!!!!111!!!1!1!!!
