construction help
Well I did think how much it would cost to get from 99 (currently lvl 67). If I cut my own oak logs, the amount that I would spend tto turn them into planks (not counting butler expenses), would be around 45 million gp. And since I've already spent a bit more than 5 million on my house (tore it down completly and rebuilt it 3 times  ), it's probably going to be awhile before I focus on 99.

My Experience With The Strung Rabbit Foot
 You know that if you have a greater chance of getting nests, that you're going to get more nests? That sounds good, but by that line of thought. If I buy 5 lottery tickets each week, I have a chance at big money. But if I buy 10 lottery tickets, then by increasing my chances, I'm going to get big money.

~Fury's and glories, and buyers oh my!~
I use a fury, I was looking at my runes one day, and discovered I had about 47k chaos runes (don't use them that often, so they just kept piling up). There was a topic asking about how many to sell for a onyx gem, and decided I'd go ahead and do that.

Why is runescape community the way it is?
Another point, is how many of the people that need that kind of warning aren't going to the main RS page (or not looking at it if they do). You see this all the time, people will post about something that is mentioned on the main page, as if they had discovered something new. Miniclip, for example, doesn't take you to the main page, so each time someone that plays from there logs in. They never see any warnings by Jagex. People that use the bookmarked worlds trick (although most of these people would probably have a bit more pc knowledge), also won't see it, unless they choose to go and look at it.

The complete "Should F2P get updates?" Debate! 5,000 views!
Someone else used a "food" analogy earlier in this thread. I'm going to use something along those lines. Let's say a restaurant decides to hand out 1000 free meal coupons each week. The coupon states: "You are entitled to one free meal, consisting of a hamburger and side order of fries. No substitutions." Now when someone goes in with their free coupon, they will see others eating steaks, baked potatos, salads, etc. But they only get a hamburger and fries. But the hamburger is delicious, and you are happy with it. Now after time, you want to try one of their other dishes, but all you have is the free coupon. Why does the resaurant owe you anything other than the meal they promise? So what if your being there helps them (word of mouth - "man the food is great there, only had the hamburger, but it's great." and also people passing by the restaurant would see a full parking lot all the time, figuring it's a good place to eat.), they "paid" you by giving you a free meal each time you were there. Even if some people decided the free coupon wasn't worth it anymore, and stopped going. There will always be others willing to grab that coupon. So there won't be a shortage of "free coupon" people. As a matter of fact, with each new person with a coupon, they extend their "word of mouth" advertisements. No, the restaurant doesn't "owe" anything to the coupon holders. At some point, they might make changes to the coupon to allow other things but it's not like they really have too. As for the "importance of f2p", I don't deny there is one. But it's not one that makes the balance of the game hang on. Like I mentioned before, there are tons of MMORPG's that do not have a free community, that are as good or better than RS's. If for some reason, Jagex ever decided to end f2p, it would take adjustment. But the game would go on, and who is to say not for the better? (NOTE: I'm not saying it would be better without f2p before anyone starts flaming. Just stating that it's the game might be possibly better).

need hp?
You're not being civil accusing people of lying. There are spells that give magic xp without hp xp. A lot of people that make mage pures use those spells to keep their combat level lower. Also, quests that only give magic xp and genie lamps would also do the same thing.

Why is runescape community the way it is?
And how often would Jagex check these trusted programs? Once on the "list", the creator of one could change it so that anyone downloading it, after Jagex has given approval, gets something bad. then not only do you have Jagex stuffing precaution down everyones throat, but they've "encouraged" the very thing they've been warning about. Hmm, Jagex don't seem to like external links though. I'm sure if they ever had a list like that, the programs would be hosted by them. That way any changes would have to go through Jagex. That's a good point, although since these extra programs are free (and not "owned" by Jagex), Jagex would have to probably buy the "rights" to host them on a business site. Even if most of the people making safe 3rd party programs agreed to allow Jagex to host without compensation, let's say the most popular one didn't. But they still offered it on their own website. Do you think people would quit using it (as long as it followed Jagex's guidelines) even if it wasn't "endorsed" by Jagex. Which could lead to other non-safe ones acting the same way. Also think about the support angle. Even if you include a note about "this client isn't created/supported by Jagex, please refer all questions to ________", you would still have a large amount of people that would query Jagex about this or that. When a new skill/monster/items come out and the program needs to be updated, if someone doesn't update theirs fast, Jagex would be swamped with complaints about getting that client updated. Also, with the numerous updates, making updates to the calculators and such, then Jagex having to go back through and make sure it's still all safe, would take even more time. Sometimes it's just easier for a business to distance itself from an aspect, rather than endorse it. Take computers for example. You buy a computer from a big name company. You have a 2 year warrenty, but if you open it before then, you void the warrenty. Even if you didn't do anything but look inside. They can't take the chance of someone messing up their computer and then having it fixed at the cost of the company.

Most of the Barbarian Assault Rewards Utterly Useless?
Also, just because it's something new in the game doesn't mean it's meant to replace or even be considerably better than exisiting items. It's a reward from a minigame, and yes while the granite plate is a great piece of armor, think about the armors from Castle Wars or Pest Control. It's just something extra to put in the game to let you feel like you're gaining something from the mini-game (besides the fun of playing).

The quest cape shattered my hopes.
And that's the thing, "high level" is all relative. There are three levels of quest type (easy, medium and hard). Take the example of the "high level" quest that was released this month. Combat levels go from 3-126. That would equal out to about 41 combat levels per quest level. (easy: lvls 3-41, medium: 42-82, hard: 83-126). But a level 115 will obviously be able to take any real challenge a level 85 has, with no effort at all. Then add in all the items/pots/prayers/etc. to boost stats in the game, and you sway the results even more (a level 75 could do the things designed for a level 83). Another idea (to go along with Bull912000), is the introduction of another higher level of quests. In them, the minimum requirement for any skills (including indivdual combat and not just combat level as a total) would be 75. And that potions and such couldn't be used to "bump" you up just for the quest. Completion of these "new level quests" would trim the quest cape. That way the current ones could have their cape showing they've done easy-hard quests. And the High levels would show they've done all 4 levels of quests.

My Experience With The Strung Rabbit Foot
Actually it doesn't increase the number of nests you get, just increases the chance of getting nests. And I think we all know from the Ring of Wealth experiences, that doesn't mean it's a sure thing.

Effectiveness of Pest Control?
Interesting, now I have another question/theory. I tired a bit of PCm last night and this morning(had joined one of the groups a while back but never used PC). Gathered 100 points in probably around 4 hours (maybe a little less). But I noticed that most games I was averaging about 500-600 zeal points. Which is about right according to Twr phr33k's formula. So in roughly 2-3 minutes of each game I'm getting 1500 xp for my combat style I choose and (500 hp xp), regardless of whether we win or not, correct? To get that at fire giants (for my example in my first post), you'd have to kill a giant every 30-45 seconds and have moved on to the next one almost instantly. While this would slow you down on gathering points, if you had a team that destroyed 3 of the 4 portals, then spent the rest of the game time defending the knight, you could rack up quite a lot of zeal in 20 minutes. So even a non-winning game of PC would still be better than regular training? The money is 10 times your combat level. So for me at level 105, I get 1050 gold each game we win. But I'm looking more at time and efficiency. And on a good world games can go fairly fast (sometimes too fast to get enough zeal), like under a minute. average though is around 2-3 minutes. Plenty of time for zeal and not enough time to let the knight fall (if everyone's doing things right). EDIT: correction on my typo. Thanks Bauke

dragon axe handel?
Actually the handle of regular axes will "change" to a dragon handle (and vice versa) when attached with another axe head. So you can buy a bronze axe and cut it till the head falls off, then put a dragon axehead on it.

Effectiveness of Pest Control?
How much more effective is Pest Control than regular training? For example for me to get to 99 att, str, or def I have to fight around 22k fire giants. It also works out (since I kept my melee skills close), that if I kill 66k fire giants that would give me 99 in all three, as well as 99 hp. Doing PC might get me to 99 in a single skill faster, but for the points I spend it will mean more training or PC in order to get 99 in all 4 (not that I'm truly thinking about it, just wondering about overall effectiveness).

Question: Least-Admirable Skill Cape
All depends on your what you view as admirable. This is not inteded to insult anyone with 99 in any skill I mention, just using them as a reference. Some say that if you can "buy" a skill that makes it less admirable. But before skillcapes even came out, people would do this once they had gotten close and decided to push for 99 in any skill. Even if you are buying all the supplies to get a skill to 99, you still put in the same amount of time, in that skill, to raise it as someone who gathers their own resources. It's just you'll reach 99 first as they are taking more time to get there. Another thing to look at, is how much you have to interact in the game per item for the skill. Take for example firemaking (not looking at the buyable aspect of it), you have to click on the tinderbox and each individual log (not counting click into bank and withdrawing logs or misclicking and having to reclick a log or tinderbox). While another skill such as cooking, you have a full inventory and click four times. Once on food, 2nd on range, right click on food dialouge and last on cook all. 4 clicks per inventory compared to 54 clicks per inventory (27 logs + 1 tinderbox). Obviously some will argue that the less you have to actually be involved in a skill, the less admirable it becomes. Personally, I think fletching is more admirable, clicking on each string and then the unstrung bow (14 complete bows per inv.), shows determination to me. Cooking on the other hand, while I admire anyone with it, is to me the least admirable of them. When I started going for 99 woodcutting I was at level 89. About 4 days later, a friend of mine decide to go for 99 cooking (he was at level 84). He made it to 99 almost 2 weeks ahead of me, and I'll admit, I played a heck of a lot of RS in that month to get to 99. So it wasn't that he was playing more than me (or at least that much more, if any). But by the time I would get an inventory of wood(willows for the fastest xp per hour), he could do who knows how many inv. of sharks.

Is green mask price going down permenantly?
From reading a few threads around here*. Currently rares seem to be in a "stable" mode right now. With the release of construction last year, since then, they've got the economy to sort of level off for the time being. This won't last forever (unless Jagex has more of these kinds of updates planned at certain intervals) and rares and such will start to go up again. But when that will be is anybody's guess. * This isn't my theory/idea. It's a from posts by SwampJedi and Duke Freedom that I've read.

100 Mill from Barrows.
That's just an average amount of runs. There's no guarantee that after 40 trips you'll get an item. When I was doing barrows a lot, I had fairly good luck there. But my friends doing it with me, very little. They ended up quitting on barrows because they got fed up with not getting anything. Barrows is a decent way to TRY to make money, but it's not as good/fast of an option as say fishing sharks or cutting magics or something that doesn't rely so much on luck.
