  1. I'm pretty sure you can input your own scripts onto the forum, and it is possible to put pop ups on the forum. Though I hope there is a command option to disable the pop ups entirely, if this is to be implemented.
  2. When you look at the balance right now, the positives out weigh the negatives. I also think your age category is a bit far off. 13-15s? I think the majority of them know whats a virus, and what isn't. Maybe the 9-11year olds. Probably every single user who has been at Tip.It for the past 2-4 years has been attempted to be hacked or targeted at least once. Judging by the amount of them who haven't posted they've been hacked, I'm pretty sure almost all of them didn't get hacked. More or less had fun with them like Eel.
  3. Going onto dark's suggestion, why not make some kind of newsletter...not a big one, but a 3k-5k word news letter, that comes out every few months and reminds everyone what they need to know in order to stay protected against certain scams and such, also this newsletter could do other things as well(If this has been suggested before soz). ---- Cruiser has explained why we should keep the buttons to the greatest extent I can see, I'm just glad he could explain no matter what you do, you will always be targeted to be scammed, or such, better then I could.
  4. Jagex has down a many of updates on the weekend, although I think only one got publicized, the others were little bug fixes, which they announced they fixed on monday or tuesdays official update.
  5. Well, I've been lagging a lot, in any world. IT usually starts to lag 1 to 3 days before an update, the con update i lagged an entire week before and after, so if its as big as they say it is 'biggest update of the year', I'm sure it'll be tomorrow, or Monday. Only time will tell.
  6. Although that example if very faulty on so many things, if a user, were to be that un-educated on wed security, they will probably have a tough time keeping things private on the internet for the rest of their life. Though it does prove there are some who fall for it, the more cunning websites. Although an email scam is very unlikely, jagex states they will not send you an email 10 times before you even get off tutorial island. And its in places that make you look, well four are. Go see for yourself. Your right about the sub-hackers, they buy the programs from ebay, that they get the name of, from a certain forum, which is quite big, and I'm surprised it hasn't been taken down. Anyways, risking to buy those programs just for hacking runescape accounts is very...iq below 20, is all I can say. --- Even if users are missing the small print, then shouldn't we put the small print in large print? I think its easily noted that Tip.It does that more then enough. Though, I somewhat agree Tip.It could do more to prevent email scams, which as above stated, are very unlikely(there's one topic about being email scammed in general now, about every two moths it seemed, on average)to happen. There isn't much Tip.It can do without taking the Msn Button away. --- I don't think this would be a move in a positive direction, probably a negative direction. Though the idea to help users avoid being email scammed by the buttons is a positive one. If anything, a poll should be done if the button is removed or not, who knows how many users rely on the msn button, or contact buttons. Think of the market, where many users say to add them on msn, or aol. I think the privilege of using the buttons out weighs the risk drastically. It would be such a burden to PM personal info, that topics of a new way to give personal info would probably be made as much as 'larger sig/avvy sizes'. Perhaps Tip.It should state more clearly(not that it isn't clear enough already) that it is your own responsibility to put out information, and any information you give out, can do anything to you.
  7. Normally when someone adds another person on msn, they usually ask, who are you, and where'd you add me from? Failure to answer these result in you being deleted or blocked, I hope both though. If the person answers the questions, if asked, you'll immediately know they are from Tip.IT, you'll probably ask whats your forum account name. If they send you a link through msn, or send you a file, with a corny name, most 10 year olds know, its probably a virus, or some kind of scam. They aren't that unwise about web security. I don't think there is any real danger with the msn button. Though, I did have an encounter with someone who added me through tip it, and tried to scam me at the archery guild...though I knew it was a scam, since the person had made it so obvious, I mean a 6 year old wouldn't fall for it. That example probably proves there is a danger, but I don't think removing the msn button will help at all. If someone PMed you right now, and ask you to add them, they had around 120 post counts, and you hadn't read this topic, you probably would? With, or without the msn button the danger is there, and removing it does nothing to protect, or stop it. Its like removing a door knob from a two door knob door. That person will still get in. Tip.It should understand that making these boards risks every one of us to hackers, or viruses even to our best efforts. If you remove the Msn Button, why not just remove the entire PM system, or better yet, the entire forum? If someone is bent on hacking or scamming, it doesn't matter what Tip.It does, it is what the user does, or mostly 90% the user, in my opinion. I would not like to see the removal of any buttons. They are neutral in the path of hackers/Scammers. EDIT: I think since its your choice to put the Msn info on, its your own responsibility as well. Your choice, not Tip.Its, they give you that choice. I'd rather have the choice, then no choice at all. The choice is, choosing to make your own personal information to the public of Tip.It. You are basically agreeing, and accepting the fact that you may or may not be scammed by what you submit. Your accepting this responsibility. If you are scammed, or hacked, or w/e, it is your fault, for giving out any information about you. Your fault, since you choose to give out this information. Tip.It should not take this choice away, as I said above, I'd rather have the choice, then have no choice at all.
  8. i would but i am not a rich player, tbh, never held more than 2mill at any one time  so going for 60 defence would be abit of a waste because i know i wouldn't be able to afford drag when i got there :boohoo: With 60def, and if you got p2p..? You could easily make enough money for dragon easily. Rcing...I think you could do, nats?
  9. A little off topic question, but are these stickies, that are being posted, are they 'messed' up because of the certain forums being merged...?
  10. Which I tried to explain in my previous post. Its not needed to raise it, if in 24 hours the same topics are still on the first page. Anymore is most likely spam bumps.
  11. Well, they had posted they had updated their graphic maker or w/e its called from like 30squares to 256 or something..? I hope that many more squares gives us better looks if we are ever to have smoother looking characters...
  12. I love this. ^^ Though, Jagex could just put in potions/prayers that make you immune to certain weapons/attacks...example immune to special attacks from rangeweapons. ^^ Also you can be 2 hitted very easily even with 99def, and all prayers on, except protect melee. I've seen it happen numerous of times.
  13. lol, when the any new program coems out, its crap, right? I can see a dedicated team of j mods who are in charge of this friend list thing. Version 1.0 will be the first one we get, it will probably suck. Wait till jagex releases a whole bunch of updates to the new chat or new vrsions of it, then I'm sure it will be good enough to use, at version 23.9 though. =/
  14. Animated sigs, or avvys, are what ginger said 'crap'. You don't need an animated sig to give a reflection of who you are. I think the sig limits, and avvy limits could be decreased. In some cases its really annoying. I think there's more signature on a page then text in General. -.- lol Merc.
  15. Blogscape is blogging about what you did in runescape, not just what you've gained. Right? It should go in 'rate this', as 'rate this', is the rate this forum. Since I don't think it fits the description of blogscape, to go in there.
  16. Don't those change, when you change the skin, though?
  17. glancing right now, 33topics have been bumped in 24 hours. Thats not the entire first page at all. So I still think bumping every 12hours would keep you on the first page...and if you have a clan, I'm pretty sure the co-leader and yourself can bump the topic every 12 hours very easily. Though I don't think it would hurt to raise it to 3, though the reason why only 33topics have been bumped in 24 hours may be because of the 2 bumps per day...
  18. I'm still a little confused... Do you mean the skin? Do you mean the area where text is? Do you mean special features of the forums? =/
  19. There are other ways to prevent autoers, and almost every single idea has been suggested by players o nthe rsof, and yet jagex takes any action, it would take a day to put on captcha. That would stop 2/3s of the autoers, I would bet my money on it. E-mail thing with the site, only allow email verifications from @hotmail, @yahoo, @aol(i don't know if this is the one to aol?), and w/e others there are. An in-game captcha would be the best thing ever, I think. In-put it every hour or two...yes annoying, but it is well worth it.
  20. I like the graveyard very much. Kudos to you on dedication. This probably isn't easy, and the amount of time your taking into this is fantastic. Good Job.
  21. This is where you keep you blog updated with whatever your blogging about. Every large update should be a new post, if your blog is on the 2nd page. Small updates should be editted in the last post you've made. Yes you shouldn't do this, but most of the large blogs did this to start out with. :-# and it continues to this day.
  22. Even if the global mods ddo have more experience, I think local moderators should be able to go to other forums in emergencies, which was said above. I don't see the point to having mods who are contained to one forum only, and are unable to help in another forum due to their restrictions. Imo if your chosen to be a moderator, you should have been given enough trust to do global mod activities, after some time with the forums. I think its a waste of man power to contain mods to certain forums, and be unable to do anything at all in another forum. Though since no mod has clarified anything, there could be other non-mod reasons why their is global mods, and local mods...? I think all moderators should be able to moderate every forum if their is no specific reason they shouldn't be able to...those reasons could be new to modding, or others I don't know, since no mod or admin has clarified the reasons...
  23. Bump tools...yuck-.-. However bump time delay could solve some issues that most of you seem to dislike. But as always that wouldn't solve everything, and would probably cause more hassle. ^^ Though I hope the bump tool never gets implemented on Tifs. I'd rather have a reply that ignites an idea related to the topic, and then could possibly move on from there, rather then a bump, with the last post being three weeks ago. Or what will probably be 10% of the bumps a one sentence post, thats either very far off from the main topic, or it does, but has already been discussed from that angle. Replies to bump>Bump tools.
  24. If I ever get a cat, this is the first thing I'm doing. Good guide. =)
