  1. To me it was showing where teamwork or Co-op experiences in games should be developed. Instead of games that build a game and then just add in an extra character for Co-op, L4D focuses completely on teamwork. Plus it is a Valve game, so you get all of the Source engine features. I may be looking at the game from more of a developing stance than a player stance but it definitely gave the industry a different perspective on what a Co-op experience should be like or just pulling away from the lacking Co-op found in other games...like the Resident Evil series or really any game in general. That leads me into Portal 2, where I'm hoping Valve takes what they've learned from the L4D co-op experience and somehow implement it into Portal 2's unknown multiplayer. Like imagine multiplayer in Portal, but multiplayer that could out-do L4D. Mind blowing.
  2. You can still be a gamer and not play 2/3 of whats on that list. I once heard someone play the Final Fantasy 4 battle music and some kid who calls himself a "hardcore gamer" asked what song is that. I wanted to [bleep] slap him with his Halo shirt so badly... I said hardcore gamer or a gaming enthusiast. Not some random whose played 4 'big' titles and has ignored the entire indie scene. Some (most) of the games on this list are just required to know what is up in the gaming world. Without having played some of these games, your knowledge on video games is just severely lacking. I haven't played every single one of these games, but the usual ones and some odd ones I've played. You don't need to play 2/3s of this list but hopefully if you're a hardcore gamer, you're making plans to play the majority of these games. You may have played a crap load of other decent or high quality games, but what type of gamer sees such an epic list as this and doesn't want to play every single game? I'm just saying that these games have a lot to provide to any self-proclaimed hardcore gamer.
  3. Where's Left 4 Dead? It does HAVE story, even if you can play it without noticing it. But I think every person who calls themselves a hardcore gamer, should have played at least 2/3s of the games on this list. Good list.
  4. Video tutorials are the best. Written tutorials just don't do the trick like audio & visual together do. But I mean just search "video tutorials for c++" and you'll get a ton of results: http://www.intelligentedu.com/blogs/post/best_new_training_sites/3736/top-75-c-video-tutorials-at-youtubecom The syntax is the easiest part to learn to be honest.
  5. I love all of Nintendo's franchises. Their image hasn't been ruined, yet, by what Nintendo is doing with them. The way I see it, is that the characters and even the art design is negligible unless they somehow effect game play directly. The reason why we love the games is not because we get to see our character, that is just a bonus. We connect with the avatar only slightly. We connect much more deeply with them on who they are, how they act or respond to cues. So the game play is where we hate a game or not. The characters are just the reason why we buy or get excited for the game. We know that character X = this type of game play. That is all characters are to us. They remind us of those times doing X game play. That is why we get excited for them, it is because that is what they mean to us. Game play on these franchises have been going down though. They have been much more directed at casual gamers and a lack of focus on us, the hardcore gamers. You may think I'm whining but you can't argue against that the three big publishers/developers have focused on casual gamers more than on us. It is sad from my point of view but whatever. As long as character X keeps portraying game play X in new and innovative ways, I don't mind. I do not think that it hurts the industry though. A game is a game. Regardless of its characters or storyline, the game play is what truly matters. If the game play degrades or isn't what it should be, the game will fail. It doesn't matter if your favourite character is in it. Game developers know this and this is why they will either change their audience or their game play in future releases of their franchises. This is why franchise don't hurt the industry.
  6. Let's just say you have no idea what you're talking about and pulled that figure out of your ass. Try to lighten up when someone posts an obvious sarcastic post. Makes you look like you're trying to pose as someone who is intelligent. By the way you should look at the stats that Mil posted. I exaggerated 1/3 more than what is true, if those stats can be taken as correct. So I don't know where you get off in saying that I 'pulled that figure out of [my] ass'. Do you have a hate complex or something?
  7. Let's just say Jagex got rid of at least half of their player base back in 2007.

  9. I think Sony wants to wait on releasing a PSP2 just because they have no idea what it is going to happen with the iPhone or the 3DS. To me it feels like they are just going to wait and see where the handheld market goes and then build off of that. That or they have something up their sleeve that is going to take us by surprise in 2011.
  10. You guys are missing the fun part. Have everyone go engineer & some assault, pull out your CG and just sit down and camp their spawn. GG.
  11. I like gritty looking games. I want to see a gritty Zelda art style. It will never happen with Nintendo. Twilight Princess is as close as we'll ever get to shiny, playful Nintendo. Upset.
  12. I want more research done on homosexuals raising a child from toddler years or in their adolescent years to surface before I can completely say I'm comfortable with homosexuals adopting. Other than that they should have any right that heterosexuals have.

So I was pretty thrilled to hear the Zelda game being announced but I did have two worries about it being on the Wii. One is the terrible precision the Wiimote has and second was the lack of freedom you had to move your sword and shield around as much as you could with the Wiimote's capabilities. Then I read this: http://kotaku.com/55...a-game/gallery/ So there are a few more moves we can do with the Wiimote but we're still limited to what they want us to move. We don't have complete freedom in our controls. It is kind of upsetting. I'm hoping though that the new dynamic of 'flight' in this game adds a new level to it. As flight has been done in so many games already it better have some unique touch to it. And their aim for this game is 'fun' not 'annoyingly hard puzzles' (even if they weren't that hard to figure out anyways). I wonder if this is the first Zelda game I'll be disappointed in? I'm sure if they converge on some of the timelines I'll still be content... Oh well, Portal 2 looks awesome: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ebqdTFj9T2o (Sorry if someone already posted this)
  14. You put a good tank driver and then three engineers with the tank and no one is going to touch you the entire game.
  15. It is a new campaign (short) and will have new multiplayer maps from the campaign and one or two general maps. Not all game modes will be on each of the maps. Three of the maps will have all game modes. There's going to be five new weapons. That is all we know so far - oh and it is in Vietnam.

    1. Sony 2. Nintendo 3. EA 4. Ubisoft 5. Microsoft What's up best friend Sony.
  17. *Looks at me not playing on a console* I went there.

A new source engine would have to include a lot of physics enhancements for it to be worthwhile or big enough for them to make it into its own announcement. I don't think Valve is making an engine with advanced physic or graphical capabilities. Not yet. I can see a Counter Strike 2 or some other new FPS to come about from Valve though. I'm going to bet on a crap load of DLC for Source, L4D, L4D2, TF2 (maybe only a little here), a new SDK, and a new service for Steam. 3 hours till the Microsoft conference. I'm disappointed I have to wait till tomorrow for Nintendo. Nintendo is the only conference I am currently caring for right now. Zelda.
  19. That slim thing better have a lot more to offer than just what was listed or else I wouldn't touch it for anything more than $250. It isn't even slim.
  20. By running people over.
  21. Past two days I consistently lose connection to the 'ea server' after about four or five minutes playing. I've done the usual to rectify the issue but nothing has worked. Could there be something I'm overlooking here, network wise? I'm kind of upset.
  22. 1. Half-Life (Story telling intertwined with the fantastic game play; has never been topped) 2. Crash Bandicoot (My first game that I ever devoted more than twenty hours into) 3. Legend of Zelda: All of Them (Story + New Ways To Play Them Every Time) 4. Paper Mario (I just can't get enough of this entire series, I think the whole 'paper' aspect and how that is spun into the game play is just unique) 5. Left 4 Dead (First game I ever played where 'true' team work was a necessity in order to win - It is just an amazing game too) I mean there's other games out there, that are arguably better than these games, but to me these games just rock.
  23. I have the Wii, Xbox 360 and the PS3. Xbox 360 is the only decent console out of those three. The PS3 is expensive, lacks in supporting communities, has a terrible networking system, and is just not up to par with the 360. The 360 is more of a, do everything in this little box, while the PS3 is still in the mindset that you play games on it and then movies. 360 is a computer. PS3 is a console. I don't know what the crap the Wii is.
  24. I've used the G5 and I prefer the Razer Deathadder over it. The shape & feel of the mouse and the firmware customizations are just too good to pass up (if you're going to be gaming). It also tracks a lot better than the G5 does, in my opinion.
  25. I look at post count to determine if someone is using sarcasm or not.
