  1. I think it is a good idea, why do you think it is a bad idea?
  2. Are any of you guys watching MLG this weekend? The rebroadcast of tonight is about go to live or will be soon, so if you didn't watch it, you can basically watch it now. Tomorrow and Sunday will both be a blast to watch. www.mlgpro.com
  3. Ilana had one, or had her own centric part in a part of an episode back in Season 5 or even Season 6's first three episodes. There wasn't a whole episode dedicated to her though. For Frank he shared a centric episode in Season 5. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Lost_episodes If you're just talking about Season 6 though, then you're correct. For Season 6, I'm expecting one for Jacob and one for the MiB. Claire is probably going to get one, well if she doesn't get killed or is disposable. I can also see one more episode that is centric for all of the secondary characters that keep recurring. Though they're going to have to do repeats for characters in their centric episodes, or so I'd think they would if they wanted to do it more correctly or just having the chance of messing up some big storyline plot by not using a main character. I also did not know that Nestor Carbonell who plays Richard was the Mayor in Gotham Knight. http://webservices.mymovies.name/Photos/6fb8be8b-de18-4474-8c61-d1237eb92480.jpg
  4. Six hours left of the season but only five episodes. I have no idea how they're going to wrap things up to any degree in this time. So far the season has progressed at a decent quality, without really losing that 'LOST touch', so hopefully in the cramming of the next episodes it doesn't deteriorate into a bad ending of the season and series. I like Hurley, and Hurly centric episodes rock my boat. Still, I think this episode focused a lot more on the Island and the alternative universe, more so than it did for Hurley. I mean Hurly had his alternative self explained, but this was just necessary for the story to continue, and it didn't feel like the series was taking that 'break' that usually occurs with the character centric episodes. It just seems like Hurley got jipped (again). Though the episode was probably one of my favourites. "Dead people are more reliable than alive people." Win. [hide=Sun & Jin]I'm still mad that they haven't been reunited yet.[/hide]
  5. I really do not want my Tip.It to change around Jagex's desires.
  6. This is really only applicable for the average/casual players. When playing at a high level having a decent squad helps, but in reality if you're capable of just killing enemy after enemy or defending the objective or you are unable to defend against these types of epic plays, then having a good squad is not going to count for much. A coordinated squad only comes from a group of somewhat skilled individuals minimum. If you're an average/casual player and you don't look at every technical and game play aspect, then yes a good squad will allow you to go and get a 2.0 k/dr in a game, but if you play against any extremely knowledgeable pubstar or competitive players having a really good squad is not going to amount to anything. Even if you scale everyone in the squads to that of competitive players, all of the strategies and tactics still come down to individual skill. In games you can get hit 3 or 4 times or be within a grenade's actual killing distance. Because you are in a game it is far easier for one person to just out-perform everyone else who has the advantages over him except individual skill. Thus, squads are an important tool to have but even in BC2 they are not the most important or significant factors for doing well in regular games or scrims. In this game, just like many others, it comes right down to raw individual skill. America's Army is the only game I've ever played where having a good team will make you do well but also it is a requirement and drains the fun or entertainment value out of it. Even then it still is kind of sketchy to really pin down the main focus of AA. Just my opinion.
  7. http://www.shamusyoung.com/twentysidedtale/?p=537 *The game can be downloaded but it is extremely buggy and crashes a lot. I've had to restart my comp several times, so make sure you don't have anything unsaved and whatnot. I'm not near the level of programming to code something like this, but my inner geek practically exploded at the concepts that were used to make this happen. I've often thought that hardcoding was a waste to dynamic code. Like if you spend one year just dynamically coding everything, then you'll gain several years of just watching the code grow practically by itself. I've thought of how much time could be saved by having the program generate the content, instead of basically hardcoding art models and buildings and textures, when a program could just create it for you, but with the right parameters so that you have enough control over it. I just understand the concept and have thought about it before, but I didn't know that there was such coding going on out there, nor did I think it had been used at this level, nor did I know it would save such space. The game itself is pretty plain but the fact that it is 97KB and I can do the most basic actions of a FPS is amazing. I also understand the limitations like limited animations and sounds, but really in the future you can recursively use this concept with added parameters and rules to govern the generator that intense or deep romantic music, or really artistic textures could be made, as the code matures. So right now it may be limited but in the future this could be where things are headed. And as it matures it probably won't have a such a noticeable loading time either. This is just pretty interesting to consider of its possibilities and potential now and in the future for not just games but creating artwork, creating an infinite amount of instances of some experiment with only X amount of laws/conditions/rules to govern the generator, planning out cities or patterns...etc. Just give it the right boundaries basically and it could do wonders.
  8. No side has the advantage like you guys are making it out to be. It is completely dependent on the strategies/tactics and positioning of each team that will decide the outcome. Terrain advantage or 'map advantage' only applies to one particular map, but even then I think I am not being objective. There's basic things for the defending team to do and then there are the basic things to do for the attacking team to do. If both sides are equal in the knowledge of these basics, then it simply progresses to individual skill level and whoever is calling the strats for each team. I firmly believe this game is not so out of balance that using all M60s against XM8's would result in total domination in any game mode on any map. Also these lines of thoughts trail onto player psychology and game play psychology. INTERESTING TOPICS.
  9. Good luck. Is it 3 rounds per map, or is it whoever wins 2 rounds on the map, becomes the winner of the map? The rounds rules are confusingly misworded.
  10. TOTALLY $20 IN TOTAL!!!!! But yes, I did mean $20 a month or less, as this is the price most people are going to be able to afford*. I don't think anyone here is going to put out more than $60 a month in web hosting if they're not earning money back or if they're not in it for a business related project. Like I have been trying to state, I don't want this topic to just be about my personal needs or preferences around web hosts. It is clear that one of my goals is to find a web host that I could use, but the goal I had was to just compile a list of different types of web hosts for different types of people for their different uses/needs. If I'm neglecting that you guys realize this and are just posting to help me out on the more personal goal, than I apologize, yet most of the responses have just been centred on my needs and not the topic's point. If you post a web host, perhaps explain the strengths/weakness or pros and cons that that web host offer, or who the particular host would benefit the most. *Yes, I realize the slight contradiction I make in this post.
  11. It is a pretty big difference. Doesn't feel like 12X, but it is definitely beneficial at long range and even medium range too.
  12. The scope dose not increase zoom. I think all it does is increase range of the round and decrease bullet drop. I'm pretty sure it increases zoom. Unless my mind is fooling me.
  13. Epic episode - I had forgot about this thread. [hide=Spoiler]We knew there was going to have to be a link between both realities, but I had completely forgotten about Desmond, lol. When I saw him in the second last episode, I knew things were going to start getting more interesting. Though they don't have a lot of time left to go through with any of the possible end scenarios I can think of. With Faraday making the connection about him setting off the bomb though, that was a bit too...unexplained? It made some sense to how he would come to the conclusion but it just felt like the writers did this to move the story along without adding anything unique to it. Was somewhat disappointed at this. I'm really hoping that Desmond is able to have a consciousness in both realities, as then I won't have to freak out about each reality not knowing of the other reality.[/hide]
  14. Trying to find reputable web hosts and I will be spending money. And I didn't make this topic in asking for help but more so finding any variety of web hosts that could be used by a multitude of people with different interests or uses. Though if I think of it, $20 or less though and the ability to go from small traffic to medium traffic without having to pay my sanity. I'm also hoping the web host you're recommending is offering the standards?
  15. I've been looking for another web host and through looking over the results I was getting, I realized how huge of a scam is going on between 12 or so web hosting sites that have just flooded the first four pages of results. I was going through web hosts like Just Host, Lunar Pages, GoDaddy, Think Host...etc, mainly every web host on this page (in the lower right): http://www.goodhost.org/ Every single one of those sites have numerous reports of people being scammed from them for billing issues and giving the runaround. All of their ToS's state that you'll be cut off if you exceed 300+ visitors, or if you start to use too much bandwidth, even though they state Unlimited all over their ads. So I am unable to determine the good from the bad. Does anyone know of any decent web hosts that have some reputation to offer? It just seems like every web host I find has some 'sneaky' aspect to their ToS or have dozens of users complaining about their billing and terrible uptime...etc. Or even a site that isn't reviewing and recommending scam web hosts as well, would be appreciated! Thanks! --> Variety is nice, Shared, VPS, Dedicated servers, manageable plans...etc. I'm not looking for anything specific, just general web hosts that are reputable.
  16. They had the valid reasoning with the guy that looked like he was holding an RPG. Don't take chances in such situations. I can completely side with the soldiers for why they took this course of action. It is war, you don't not do something because of possible consequences later. Even in the video as soon as they could make out the RPG, they were genuinely fearful and had to take action. There is no right or wrong in this situation, it just will continue to happen.
  17. There was much more behind it than that. It was so the decimal numbers wouldn't always be excluded and hits would be much more accurate. As well as increasing the opportunity for content that can 'play' around with the points more. It was a game mechanic change more so than a game play change. And the same reasons behind the Hitpoints change can be reasoned with Prayer & Summoning and they fit perfectly.
  18. Every time I see someone do well in RuneScape or at any activity in any video game or in anything in real life, I get the urge to do whatever it was and achieve that success or experience. Every time I see someone hit level 99, I just have to consider the two or three ways I would go about getting that 99. And then if I would get to the point where I'm trying to act out this success and I fail, I just couldn't play RS for a while. Perhaps this is why people eventually quit. They just realize that they keep failing at their goals and even if they were to succeed at their goals, someone else would have achieved something greater, so what is the point? I used to be in this situation. About six months after I had 'really quit', I would log in wanting to train something but then just growing bored very quickly. Was very depressing at times. However the exception here is that if I was 600 exp away from a level, it was much easier to not get bored, when compared to 20k exp needed to level, I just couldn't handle more than 2k exp. I find that I enjoy activities far more if there is no end goal. If there isn't a reason why I am doing it, other than I was just interested in doing it and did not consider what I would get out of it. When this happens I have fun. I wonder if this has any topic in Psychology that could be further read upon as it is rather interesting. If anyone could link/inform, I'd appreciate!
  19. Was not referencing to the good old days. Was referencing to the content updates that by themselves, and excluding what was going on at the time in RuneScape, have been of high quality on a consistent basis (four years). And those things aren't what I remember from 'the good old days'. I remember having to walk a lot more and meeting random people doing the same thing I was doing, then adding each other as friends, and then helping each other complete whatever we were doing in the beginning. Or having no knowledge of the Wildy at all, and just wondering around waiting to come across something interesting. The Hobgoblin mine made my day so many times whenever I could find it or came across it. Lol. :/
  20. Wow... I guess I need to get a third monitor for this. Like, inner geek had an explosion at that sight.
  21. Well the thing with the iPod was how it looked on the outside and then its interface was just easier to use and more concise. And it was better than most of the competition (if any) at that time. For that I can contribute why it was success and it is virtually the same thing with the iPhone, but with the whole convergence thing. The iPhone just contains everything you'd want to do, or can give you any emotional fill you need and on the go too. I know marketing has played a large role in this, making all Apple products look like you're going to be different, unique and look 10x better than the next guy. And the ridiculous pricing on their products just adds to this persona they have around their products. Perhaps I am more mad at the consumers for not having any knowledge about Media rather than a company taking advantage of it and then possibly receiving high praise five or ten years later for bringing us into a new 'era' of computing. :/
  22. I think Jagex will eventually come to the conclusion that they need distinct development teams for the three (or four) different combat ranges in this game. Aside from some exceptions like Quests and making sure everything still feels like one game and not four different visions. Really, I think Jagex is just understaffed to continue supplying us with quality content or updates. I think the RuneScape team at Jagex will double in size by the second quarter of 2011. Perhaps we're looking at this too narrowly as well. Three months of poor updates compared to the past two...three...four years of fabulous updates? So really unless they go six or seven months we really can't complain. The best we can do is hope that Jagex is trying to cultivate ideas and is in the planning stages for a massive amount of content releases for the next few years, instead of just wasting months away. I hope that is what is going on, or you know, they're just focusing on that Combat Revamp that I so eagerly want to see and hopefully it drops turn-based combat in hopes for the benefits from some other system! Yea, wishful thinking...
  23. The author just scratched the surface of the needs and potential of clans. Gaining achievements or doing 'something' that shows yourself off to your entire clan is a big incentive to be in a team. Already in-game you have the ability to get a level 99 and show it off to your clan. If Jagex employed a social networking system based on clans, and you got updates whenever someone in your group or clan did something 'special', or achieved something or completed a quest, then the whole social interaction of a clan would give such motivation to play the game and participate in clan events. This is already done in many clans but it is all manually operated. Not to mention this is only the stuff that is currently in the game. If Jagex released clan-centric achievements/activities that could be linked into this clan social networking system, then you'd see an increase in clan activity. Developing content for the soul purpose of having members in clans being able to brag about achieving it will do wonders. Yet Jagex needs to remember that the majority of clans have level hotspots: 40 to 70, 80 to 100 and 120+. Jagex should try to target these hotspots with whatever content they may release for clans. Leaderboards for not just stats and mini-games but also for quests and content that involves timed runs or real world skill like reaction time or 'quick-thinking', would also be better than just doing something that requires X amount of time to get to #1. Prolonging content with time-based activities is going to cause grinding. End content in this game is rather dry. More proper game mechanics to ensure more entertaining monster hunts would be greatly appreciated. There's not enough structure or control when going Boss hunting for clans. It just isn't existent. The CC system was similar to a child's game rather than the adult game I was hoping for when they announced it. The CC system lacks depth and features to exploit the huge potential that is has. There's just so much Jagex could do with clans or even groups and I am surprised every day that there isn't an update that just explodes the waiting potential in clans in RuneScape. Excellent article.
  24. What really bothers me now is how so many sites are making it a priority to have an iPad-friendly site. This makes me angry for several reasons: 1. HTML5 is being used on these IPad-friendly sites. If the iPad causes the masses to shift over or start using HTML5 as a standard, then we have a problem. Steve Jobs/Apple will take credit for helping HTML5 along, but with a device that only did such a thing because of what it lacks. 2. The iPad doesn't introduce anything new, at all. No GUI redesigns, no hardware magic, nothing. Yet it is popular because of the logo and concept, which is flawed. Why is something so flawed being accepted or received with some delight at all from some reviewers/consumers? Like really. This entire iPad thing just rubs me the wrong way.
