  1. Cannon or no cannon? ALways use rune darts when possible, fast, efficient and cheap. Tank greaters and fire giants. Also always eagle eye and range pots. I found that I used 4-8 p-pots on average on tasks. For slayer master, use Kuradal. Stuff that you can range off the top off my head: nechs fire giants bloodvelds greaters blues gargoyles dusties black drags steel/iron drags black demons thazaar monsters There's more i bet, but i dont remember them all anymore. Things you should definately cannon and tank with rune darts: fire giants, dusties. And definately tank fire giants. You have to try out for yourself see what you like and how are the speeds. I dont think that you should go all out ranged slaying though, like gargs and nechs are a real pain to range.
  2. Hey, quick question, how is SS better in waterfiends than ZS, when ZS has higher crush? Is it quicker or what. because I havent sold my ZS yet, thinking if I should or not
  3. thnx for the input everyone! Yeah, I'll finally get my prayer 70 as soon as I hit slayer 93 (83k left), the reason I haven't yet is that I gotta do [cabbage]load of quests to actually piety anyway D and I am nota big fan of them. SO the thing I am leaning towards now is that until I actually get my hebr up to 85 for sup antifre, I can sell my ZS, get an SS and bury as much cash as I have into prayer. Do the frikin quests, get a fire cape and keep on going with slayer. And use my SS on tasks like waterfiends. I probably will not mage then while slaying, just gonna buy stuff for bursting/Barraging, anything else I should burst-barrage except lobs? That would be about the same or even better xp.
  4. Ok, here's my view on ranged, I just came back from a long break myself and hit ranged 99 while slaying. Firstly NEVER EVER block black demons, they're just raw ranged and slayer xp, grab your best ranged outfit, pray pots (6-8), ranged pots (2) always eagle eye, a BOB pouch, because the herbs add up if you have a task of like 200 and cannon away, you can do a task of 200 in an hour pretty easily if you keep an eye on things. What is a good set up for range slaying? - best ranged boosting gear you have + book of zamorak + rune darts + cannon What is a good inventory? - depends which monsters you are killing, tasks you can tank, like greaters, fire giants, have 8 pray pots, 1 super def, 2 ranged pots Is ranged slaying worth it? - Hell yeah, if you cannon, it's the fastest slay xp (did about 1,3 mil slay xp in 6 days...) Is it possible to ranged every task I get? - almost, because you have uni you can tank some pretty easily Will I make a profit if I do that though like I still manage to with piety and cannon? - even without doing clues you probably will, I did, not hugely ofcourse, but I did profit, the drops add up if you get some whips as well Would I also use the highest ranged prayer I could to kind of replicate piety? - yes What would be good monsters for me to mage slay and actually profit on? - anything you can, my personal favourites include: black demons, black dragons, fire giants, greater demons (all pure ranged tasks, cannon + range everything, excep greaters which you should ank in kuradals dungeon with rune darts) What would be the actual best thing for me to do to raise my ranged? - slay while cannoning everything
  5. What'd you mean that is faster? The only one I can think of is metal dragons, are there any else that are about the same speed - I am saving effies for slayer (10 banked atm) so by the time I hit maxed I'll prob be pretty close to 98 or atleast 97 slayer. Ok, so no use for dharok's anymore, so selling my helm and stuff and getting an Saradomin Sword, btw if I get an SS, is there any use for my ZS? ALching between hits sounds good, but too much concentration required, might try that, will see. Thansk for the info guys, any more input would be greatly appreciated. :)
  6. Haha, totally forgot about magic. :D Ok, I need that at 95 as well, so what would be a) THE QUICKEST (money-not an issue) b) best way to do that WHILE SLAYING and any time estimates would be greatly appreciated. :)
  7. Hi everyone! I'm gonna hit my long term goal of ranged 99 today and slayer 93 here pretty soon as well. Now my next thing is probably going maxxed while slaying, but my question would be how to train str while slaying, because as you can see in my stats I am indeed a big str noob and I should probably get it up to speed up my training both in slayer and othe rcomb stats. My 2 main ideas would be to: 1) Dharok everything I can 2) dragon scimmy and piety to speed things up. But like I said, I dont know anything about training only str, so i need your help. (btw, not going to lvl dungeoneering any time soon so no rapiers for me and I also dont do quests, only at 168 QP) Thnx you guys! All help would be highly appreciated.
  8. Great guide! Makes a lot more sense with the video, haven't seen that anywhere else, now I think I can actually do te caves so I'm gonna do that on my next thazaar task. Thanks a bunch!
  9. It's probably just me, but you should start training slayer straight away. You're gonna lvlv combat anyway, why not doing it with slayer? I dont know your exact stats but I would suggest using Canifis (Mazchna) Assignments as well, if you find them too hard, just switch to burthrope. You shouldn't probably bother with edgeville master until around 70-ish melee stats. Also, get barrows equipment for higher def as soon as you can. A lot of suggestions on the forums here on which one to buy. Also get smoking kills quest done as soon as you can so you can get a slayer helm, it boosts your slaying ability noticeably. Make sure you go to The Archieve of Wisdome here on the forums. (AOW) There's Axe Man Jack's slayer guide there, which is bloody amazing, has all the monsters, where and how to kill them. All in all, I would suggest jump right in there, see if you like it or not, if you don't great, if you do, even better. It's my favourite skill, and I wish I could've started it at 50-is combat. :) If you have any questions post here, pm or talk to me in game.
  10. If you will use cannon, get slayer tasks and put your cannon up at the tasks. If you'r gonna do it anyway, might as well get some slayer xp in the process. If you're not gonna cannon use throwing knives for faster xp.
  11. Been there for a week or so. I'm pretty sure it was an intended update or sth. When I was there cannoning then almost every one of them had that red ring around it.
  12. If you want faster xp, to higher lvls (getting into the money quicker). Throw in fruit tree runs as well, they're cheap, reliable and you get supercompost material as well at higher lvls. If you want an exact way how to do farming runs check out AOW, Mother Gaya's In depth guide to farming or sth. It has excellent guides on how to do a farming run, what to take and so forth. That's what i read to get started on farming (I was lvl 1 farming a month ago, I have planted only herbs and fruit trees and i just got farming 75 today). Good luck! It's a great skill to train.
  13. If you have acces to a cannon, and dont mind wasting cannonballs you should switch to kuradal right now. The size of her tasks + a lot of them are easily cannonable, make her the best hands down, even with your melee stats. I have been cannoning everything i see since slayer 81, works out good. However, if you dont want to cannon, you should get your melees around to 85's before starting to use kuradal for every task. Ofcourse, always train super potted, otherwise you're just shooting yourself in the foot. Sorry, i forgot that you're lvl 74, for now use Duradel untill 75, then get cannonballs and then start on duradel
  14. Just start training the skill and it will be easier... Cannon every single thing you can and you'll be adding them lvls up liek nothing. Plant herbs inbetween to make extra cash and you'll be good. I was planting kwuarms inbetween and i made around 5 mil in a week just off from that. Stop believing everything you hear about the gear, seriously, barrows is just fine. I started playing again like 2 months ago, and i trained 81 to 86 slayer in a month or less. Using barrows equip, and guthans for healing. Had summoning lvl 1 and hadn't evn heard about defender... :D Only thing you should get in addition to barrows is a ZS, that IS useful for its price. Just start slaying instead of killing greens or stuff, you will need the combat xp anyway, why not do it during slayer? You will still get blue dragon tasks and doing clues and cannoning all you will be better than breaking even. Trust me, i've been doing it for a while, I have never gotten a single dragon drop, and still i have money for all the stuff i need. Honestly.
  15. I love the new skill! Not that I have tried it out yet, or not that i will in any time soon, but i just love how my slayer areas have cleared up. Havent seen anyone in kuradals dungeon yet :D. I'm gonna wait until the dust clears a bit, if it is as useful as it seems (lvl 21 for prayer) and other stuff then probably will level to a reasonable level. No point hurrying down there now, the skill will still be there when i lvl a little more of my slayer. :)
  16. if you're literally at near 0gp or like below 100k, i'd suggest the following: farm irits until farming lvl 50, then start doing avantoes, they're decent money compared to a pretty low initial investment. Inbetween your farming runs either fish mine or woodcut, dunno about fishing and wc, but mining, your best bet would be iron ore, real easy to get, and is at the same price with coal. And there's also always green drag killing, but farming for sure. EDIT: corrected spelling mistakes + RC might be a better idea even than mining or wc or fishing.
  17. Herbs are half decent xp when you're doing it inbetween your ususal stuff. Like I do between slayer. Also once a day plant fruit trees, in some weird reason pineapple trees are really cheap. Like 18k each when i bought a bunch about 4-5 days ago. Pineapples are around 21k per 5 patch, once a day they are really good for their money imo. As for which herbs to grow just would like to add my 2 centst. I agree with ezkaton that snapdragons might not be worth to grow, personally i have stuck with kwuarm for now. And is it just me or do they give better yield than the others? My average yield is between 28-30 per 4 patches. Last 8 patches i did, i got 74 kwuarms, so is it just me or have any of you noticed anything similar with either kwuarms or other herbs? (I use enchanted secateurs, but that 74 per 8 patches is still a lot more than the 6 per patch that you see in a lot of guides)
  18. True. IF you have the money to do that it is the best way to go. It's just that if you want pretty much free xp without the hassel of getting expensive seconds and herblore is something that you're just doing inbetween your usual training irits are in fact the best way to do that. But for numbers: With snapdragons you're paying 350 gp per pot for seconds + herb cost of 86k/6=14,3k which translates into 14,65k/142,5=102,8 gp/xp . At 67 farming and cadantines you're paying 2,7k/6= 450 gp per herb, 1,2k per seconds which translates into 1,65k/150=11 gp/xp. Which are both way more expensive going 11 to 100 times over the 1gp/xp for attack potions. And all that is not even taking into the equation of the time of getting all the seconds for your pots, where as in newt eyes it is real simple. I'd still go with - bury your 20M into prayer and just farm those irits when herblore is not the main skill you're after.
  19. Cleaning herbs IMO is a major pain in the wagon, tried it yesterday, terrible, but i guess with mousekeys it's a lot easier. I am not well versed in the matter of prayer, but with herblore i'd reccomend you keep planting those herbs. What I do is I put in a herb run in between every slayer task I do and in the last couple of weeks i've gotten like 500 irits 600 kwuarms and 400 avantoe herbs. I realize that is not much and it is a bit of work, but while doing other skills it really is a good way to go, from slayer you will get some seeds anyway, so why not plant them. For pure, cheap herblore xp plant irit seeds (500 gp each), which is amazingly cheap xp. You'll make super attacks, even if your yield per seed is only like 5 (more realistic is 6+) you'll be at pretty much 1gp/xp for herblore, because making super attacks, the seconds cost next to nothing. For money plant higher herbs, you know the deal. But yeah, all in all, i would definetly suggest planting irit seeds in between your usual hunting and slayer tasks. If you do 4 herb runs a day with 4 patches (i dont use trollheim), and do that every day, that's around 700 irit per week, wich translates into around 80k xp in herblore for a cost of 500*16*7=56k for seeds and 4*1200*7=33,6k for supercompost, and add in the farming xp as well. Hope that helps!
  20. I might go back to armoured zombies, what type of setup would be good there, I was also thinking not training in the first section so I don't have to hop worlds. Is there any decent place to train magic with maybe breaking even and getting some charms? I have a staff of light. Don't really have much else in terms of magic. I'd go with metal dragons, either steel or iron. They are pretty weak in terms of magic defence and they take a while to kill and if you bank bones you should be easily able to break even, throw a couple of lucky drag drops and you'll be really good. Also I have heard that back demons are good for mage, but i don't know, i always cannon them, but they drop a nice amount of crimsons
  21. sorry for topic crashing. But what kind of effect do they have on herbs then? I've herb farmed my way from 30 to 55, and never used them once. What do they do then?
  22. You can throw in a cannon to speed things up with black drags, but unless you bank hides and bones you won't be profiting. You can always range the blue drags tasks at Gu-Thanoth dungeon or whatever, banking hides and bones, that's what I did up to 90 ranged, gives a decent profit. Also ranging the caged greaters there isn't a really bad idea either if you use like steel or iron arrows and do the clues you surely profit. (need telekinetic grab to get your clues and rune fulls, and other useful stuff though). Also, I don't know about this now, with these pesky revs and stuff, but fire giants were great to range in the wildy 50-is dungeon through the gate. You can also safespot dustdevils pretty easily and they have a rather lowish ranged def, so that's what I'd do as well. Black demons are AWESOME raw ranged xp with cannon and x-bow. Without that you'll bore yourself to death though (same goes for black drags btw) I am sure I have forgot someone, or left someone out of the list, cause I don't know exactly who you slay, so if you have any specifics PM me in game or post here and I'll try to remember how to do them :)
  23. Killing mith armour. seems to be the fastest. Thanks a lot to everyone, close topic please!
  24. Do you use ground ash as well or just throw them around without it?
  25. Hey everyone! I've been putting off getting the rune defender for a while now, because getting the tokens for defender was a real pain for me due to a slowish connection. However, at my melee stats I could really use one to make slayer a lot faster. So my question is which would be the best way to get the tokkens at the guild? I used to kill my own rune armour set, but I am wondering if I could get the tokens quicker. Also if anyone has any ideas about how many tokens I would need to get a rune defender? So far I got up to steel defender, which cost me like 500 tokens or sth. All tips about how to quicken the process would be greatly appreciated. :) Stats: att 94, def 93, str 90 Thanks a bunch!
