i have 99 def, and i can tell you that it will NOT help at all. You will be using protect, the only way he will hit you is with his magic attack.

to be honest, you should get 45 defence, being the owner of a zerker pure myself, i have noticed i can 'own' the 1 def pure easily.

kill choas druids or flesh crawlers, both good herb droppers.

no... jellies are just the lowest leveled ones, but hell hounds are awesome since this is their only drop :)

the first person to 99 hunter did it in 4 days. Cooking is quite fast with sharks Also, if you have money then construction.

errm.. i don't use any prayer pots, and i use slayer dart.. that is your best bet

why not just get 99 defence instead of nearly 50m attack exp (i don't know what your attack exp is :-w , but last i saw it was in the low 40m... i think)

just alch... string all is a lunar spellthat strings all ammys in your inventory. ice bursting monkeys is the best but i am quite sure its going to cost 50m+, not 100% sure but that seems likely.

i reccomend you work your way up to 80-85+ in each of the combat skills and go for a 99 then if you wish. But it is just way too slow, and annoying with low stats

curse with full rune on the varrock mage.

Torags is the best defence, use it without the hammers though, the hammers are horrible.
