WHY choose that skill to get 99 in?

There's been much discussion, debate and argument recently over which skillcapes are more respected than others. Which lead me to wonder, when it's common knowledge that certain cape are less respected than others, why do people still continue to go for those capes. Which then made me wonder why people go for the capes they do.

I've currently got a Quest Cape that I'm pretty pleased with, which I choose to get because I love questing and wanted something to show that.

I'm currently trying to hit 99 woodcutting, because I want to make money easily and I have no intention of 'buying' a cape. Basically, because I;m lazy.

So, tipiters, why have/did you choose that particular skill?

im going for all 99s cause i play this alot way too much and like a challenge. next 99 is strenth cause its the only combat skill i would train outside of slayer and abby demons will make cash...(finally..) lol

people get fletch/cook capes sometimes for the bonus you still get more respect than obby cape i think.

Agility, Ranged, Hunter, or Thieving... I love them all! I plan eventually to have 99s in all of them, but for now lets take it one step at a time.

My first 99 was mining because well... It is the only skill i truly like except farming, most people do a 99 they enjoy most do it for the cape at the end but i doubt i will ever be 99 in a skill i truly do not enjoy all the way through thick and thin.

Well, I have decided to go for 99 defence.

First of all, its not the most common combat skill to get 99 in just because people tend to go for strength and attack first. It's also my favorite combat stat to train. When people called me a def noob in the wild at level 80 when i had like 70 defence, I decided then that it would be my first 99 combat stat just so I could go back and be called a def noob for a reason :P

But I'm not powertraining to get the level. Just slayer and other random training at the moment. I don't see the need to rush anything.

It takes work no matter what skill! While some may take longer and are more difficult they all represent devotion.
I don't see how buying 50k sharks and getting 99 cooking in 5 days is an accomplishment, especially with cook-x. Chances are, you won't even be looking at the screen half the time :shame:

Most people get easy capes just for the hell of it. Imo, you should only bother if you actually enjoy that skill, and not to be one of 30k people with one.

i enjoy it a bit

the only reason i enjoy cooking is because i can talk with people

and do whatever else i want to do while doing it such as hw, msn, tv

If you were really enjoying it, then you wouldn't be doing other thing in the meantime just to pass the time

OMG, that guy has 99 cooking!!!!!!!!!!!! He must be REALLY stupid because everyone knows that 99 cooking isn't respectful!!!!!!!!!!! Why does he do it, even though there's NO point?!?!?!?!?!?!?!? After all, NOBODY gets a 99 just because they like the skill or because it makes money, they just do it to get the respect of newbies!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ah, this reminds me about the noob on the Runescape forums who was upset with the quest "Cold War" because apparently his grandparents died in the war. :wall:

I did cooking about a year and half ago and it was my first cape.

Despite the number of people complaining about how common these capes are, remember that the vast majority of people DONT have an achievement cape at all. This is why so many strive for one and naturally, they often go for the one that's easiest and requires the least work.

I have achieved the two easy capes and have since set my sights a little higher. I recently attained the Crafting cape and am now about 2-3 weeks away from the Slaying cape. I choose to do these since they are harder and slightly more fun to do (plus Slaying can't really be bought)
