WHY choose that skill to get 99 in?

People look down on the Fletching and Cooking skillcapes, but you can't argue that they're more impressive than having 98 Fletching or 98 Cooking.

I went for Fletching first because I wanted to get one skill out of the way before I started after others. Right now I'm over halfway combined for WC/FM.

I have 99 cooking.

I'm going for 99 fletch next because it'll get me the "Red Trim" fast.

I'm getting both of these 99's because the cooking cape will be red. To go with my santa, then i'll get 99 Woodcutting on f2p while looking hawt.

I'm getting 99 Woodcutting because it's simply my favorite skill. Dont really like the green trim, so the cape isnt what i'm really going for. And Fr33 willows for 99 FM <3:

I want to get my strength to 99, since It would make me hit harder. And is you hit harder you do ore damage, thus earning more experience and making it easier to train the other melee skills.

(Sorry for the run on sentence.)

99 Thieving: My favourite skill ever, though I'm guilty of being a pp product, I really wouldn't mind the pickpocketing way to 99.

99 Mining: My 2nd highest skill then after thieving, and I wanted to trim my cape.

99 agility: An all round useful 99, assists in abyss rc along with 99 mining too.

Strangely with WotLK so near, I wished I could delay it a bit to push through that last TBC content in MH/BT :'(.

I was sitting down a little while ago, trying to think of a 99 to go for. First i thought cooking. Cheap, easy. I tried, got to 80, and got bored way to quickly. Then i thought fishing, unique, cheap, and once again, fast. Way too boring. Then i decided, why for for a 99 skill thats cheap or easy? why not go for one that i enjoy? At the moment, i dont have a skill that i think i could get 99 in. So im just evening out my stats. Id rather have all 70 skills then 1 skill 99 and one at 30.

But ill eventually go for firemaking, and maybe woodcutting along with it

I engineered this thread with precise variables that I know would cause lul-worthy flames.

I'm currently going for 99 woodcutting. Currently 91.

I chose woodcutting because I enjoy it. It's not a "you have to pay attention" skill like firemaking. Also, it's not as common as cooking.

I can't say I'm going for it because of the cape, because I'm f2p :P.

It takes work no matter what skill! While some may take longer and are more difficult they all represent devotion.
I don't see how buying 50k sharks and getting 99 cooking in 5 days is an accomplishment, especially with cook-x. Chances are, you won't even be looking at the screen half the time :shame:

+1

Also most people who get afk 99's watch movies/TV/read books etc....

Get out of here. You got 99 Smithing on Cannonballs which was you clicking 3 times then doing something else for 4 minutes. When you get a real 99 come criticize those who have 99 Cooking/Fletching.

99 Fletching: Easy first 99, the bows were good mage training and better profit than most people get alching because I got 85 Mining to mine Runite while I alched and I RCed all my nats.

99 in the four Melee skills: I <3: Slayer. Enough said.

99 Prayer: After getting 5 Dark Bow drops and some random Barrowing, I had what was to me an incredible amount of money(55m). I chose to buy 42k Dragon Bones to get 84-99 Prayer on my Gilded Altar. Good thing too, once Piety came out, bone prices skyrocketed . Also, I got this to 99 before Str, Def, or HP were 99.

I never aimed for skillcapes quite a few of my 99s came before the capes were even announced to us. when i was goin for 99 range it was simply for love of the skill it had a lot of fun pkin staking and just training it overall. 99 firemaking i loved the skill since classic so i decided to continue training it on here. After that i decided 99s would look nice along with a decent skill total.

Slayer has always been my favorite skill since I became p2p. It was the first skill my friend suggested when he was showing me around the p2p world. Less than 2 months until I can have the (in my opinion) best looking cape on my back

I tried fletching. However, I'm currently burnt out at 96... I'm going for Runecrafting. Yes, say it, impossible goal. Whatever, I love the skill =D

I like Farming allot!

but its only level 65 and I'm not even member :-k

But I'm going for Firemaking 99 now, the only reason for that is cause I have to cut magic logs for Shades of Mor'ton minigame so need a good woodcutting level, like 99 so i decided to burn my willows because selling them in shop is kind of useless to me.

But i saw my firmaking xp rising faster than my woodcutting ,

So i gues my first is firemaking cape O:)

So maybe farming in the future :ohnoes:

I chose Range to be my first 99 because I like shooting things  ! Well, that and tank rangers are perhaps the strongest type of PKer out there right now. So, after this, my next goal'll probably be 99 defence =P~ . I dunno, I guess I'm sort of power-hungry nowadays.

Also, range is a pretty respectable 99 in my opinion, not as respectable as RCing, Slayer or Herblore, but decent and that's good enough for me :)

People choose according to:

- difficulty: easy capes are naturally popular

- standing: non-buyable capes are highly respected

- monetary gain: moneymaking skills such as hunter are popular as well

- pleasure: the skills they like doing

- achievement: the harder the skill, the greater the sense of achievement

I have 99 in fletching, but I don't consider it a 99 really. I never even bought the cape.

My next 99 will be HP in a few weeks. Strength, attack, defense and ranged should follow not too long after. I hope that by that time I'll be close enough to 99 slayer to persist a bit longer and get that penultimate cape. I'm halfway there, still about a year to go though. Once I have Slayer, I'll never wear another cape again.

I got 99 in construction because I wanted to have a nice house, I really love the skill. Nonetheless, knowing that construction was the rarest skillcape did influenced my decision.

I'm going for 99 runecrafting because I feel a great sense of accomplishment and I also love the skill for giving me such an awesome income.

Agreed with all of those as the main determinants

99 fletching/cooking are still sought after because they are easy.

I would also like to add expense as a determinant. People will tend to go after cheaper skills, or skills that have a high return. Expensive skills are also more or less respected.

76th to reach 99 Construction on 6th of February 2007

379th to reach 99 Runecrafting on 4th of November 2007
