  1. ... 15 minutes of fame lasts only 15 minutes ... :shades:
  2. I think you're way off base there -- the Teacher's Union doesn't give a rodent's backside if the Leafs win or lose. They only care about the bottom line and, right now, the Teacher's Union own bottom line is not faring so well. The Leafs are a cash cow. Win or lose, the fans still come -- and that is mainly because Toronto is a one-trick pony when it comes to sports teams. The Argos and Blue Jays don't get a fraction of the attention that the Leafs get. Practically everyone in Toronto is a Leafs fan -- or a closet Leafs Fan -- and that's because they got a monopoly on the sweetest hockey market in the world. A market with the Leafs are never going to share with anyone until the NHL holds a gun to their head. This is, of course, the "crux of the biscuit". The Leafs haven't had an unsold ticket since WW2 (1946+/-), and that trend isn't likely going to end any time soon. Sadly, the problem these days is that the vast majority of Leafs season ticket holders aren't even hockey fans, but rather corporate entities that have the tickets for incentive purposes. Which goes a long way to explaining why the ACC is mostly a grand beer gardens than an arena. Most of the people don't even pay attention to the game, because they;re too busy checking out their Blackberries and drinking beer. Meanwhile, the "real fans" without the tickets clamber about trying to get their hands on the few tickets that are still open for any given game. In the long run, it means that, no matter how bad the Leafs play, they will always be profitable. There's very little incentive for the team to get a whole hell of a lot better because, win or lose, they will always have a fan-base that will come to games and pay ridiculous prices to watch them play. Hell -- I'd wager that the Leafs likely make MORE money in merchandising that most teams do from ticket sales. Go to any arena in Canada and you will ALWAYS find someone in a Leafs jersey -- and I don't mean just an NHL rink. I mean ANY rink. In the end, I have a feeling that Ozzy will hang them up soon. He's been hurt a lot this year, and that for most goalies is usually a sign that it's time to stop playing. Ozzy is smart enough to know that. In reality, Phil Kessel is the albatross around this franchise's neck. THAT trade was quite likely the worst trade ever made. It will make the Bruins a Cup contender (and likely a Cup winner within 2-3 years) and leave the Leafs scrambling for playoff spots for the next 10 years. The Leafs have "some" young talent coming up, especially in net -- and Reimer's played well, there's no doubt about that. But in the end, you need some real solid goaltending to go a long way in this league. Reimer may be it - we won't know for a while yet. Gustavsson is a bust. Period. It was a big mistake to sign him in the first place. He hasn't the skills or the heart (literally) to play a full NHL season. They need to release him now and make room for the tenders they have who CAN do the job (of back up). Jiggy's done. He's too old to command the kind of cash that he's being paid now, and he will be relegated to a back up position somewhere. I would not be surprised to see him remain unsigned till late in the summer, when his agent finally gets his finger out and realizes his client's not going to command top dollar any more. I don't see the Leafs signing any "big names" in net. I think Garon might serve well as a back up at a reasonable price. Meanwhile, the Leafs will have some cash room, I think to land a few free agents, and they need help up front for sure ...

Hee hee - I could not agree with you more - for once, and that is saying something. :shades: Hubby *made* me read Watchmen before we went to see the film and I thoroughly enjoyed the movie as a result of the fore-knowledge of the source material. If anything, it was "too faithful" to the original text for critics to truly appreciate it, which is, IMO, why it didn't score well with critics and sailed, for the most part, over the heads of those uninformed movie-goers that had no idea of the source material from which it was based. I'm taking my hubby and my boys to see this one I am sure they will enjoy it and I, for one, don't mind seeing empowered women acting empowered. I seriously doubt that those critics who watch flicks of the nature of, say, "Remains of the Day" will appreciate this particular film's formula of action, skin and epic scenery -- but it's their loss, not ours.
  4. Decided to do a little look-see and find a list of this year's UFA goalies and found this list: . I cannot see the Leafs going for any of the first 4. Roloson is OLD. Osgood is just about done now, I think (and rightfully on his way to the hall-of fame). I think Garon might be a good fit for the Leafs though ...
  5. Perhaps this year they will give us something along the lines of another Rubber Chicken? Perhaps a Rubber Duckie that you can throw at people?
  6. Hmmm - I wonder if there will be some form of official clan registration thingy, or if I can make a clan and call it "Just Friends" ...
  7. Yes it would, and don't call me Shirley ... ;)
  8. ... and considering the numbers that the Sens are paying Anderson, it should be very interesting indeed ...

I'd like to go and see this one just because the imagery looks phenomenal ...
  10. Too right -- they misled everyone into "believing" that they actually had one, which they don't. Of course, we all knew they didn't have one, but all the honest players secretly hoped they did ... <_<
  11. LMAO! You are on FIRE! Marty's got old very fast. We saw his decline at the Olympics, and it's just not improved from there. It's time for him to hang 'em. It's been a great (hall-of-fame) career -- even with the human growth hormones ...

OMG! LOL'd irl! Looks like this one may be a stinker: http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/sucker-punch-2010/ <_<
  13. Precisely ^this^. <3:
  14. Well, if there are females in Runescape at the time the nuke is sent to Varrock, you could make great profit by picking up drops at Varrock. Maybe we should nuke females banks too? Your a female, can you give me a hint where the banks of female players are? Come on! I got cookies....and Phats! But as soon as you snitch, i will nuke you too. Well -- I'm not allowed to say, but suffice to say that we ALL go to the bank TOGETHER ...
  15. I agree. Judging by the video, it wasn't exactly unintentional either. Honestly -- it's time to take guys like that out of the league. That kind of crap has no place in hockey. Period.

Hmmm - no reviews of it yet and it releases in 2 days ... I think it's gonna be a poorly rated film. Still want to see it though.
  17. 7) ? 8) Profit!
  18. It is pretty epic, even though I'm not a Leafs fan, I still love it!
  19. ... so, how does sleeping on the couch work for you?
  20. Whoa!! Don't spend it all in one place! Those read like *my* drops.
  21. Indeed. Nice to keep the pace though at least. Yes -- thanks to "Optimus Reim" ... *giggles* I had to laugh when they showed that on TSN Sportsdesk ...
  22. So? So, you don't find it strange that he's linking some third party site using images to cover them? You've never used SwiftKit have you? I've tried it. My son uses it. Personally, I don't care for it. I've always found it strange that you need to set up a "user account" first, then access your Runescape account. Frankly - IMO - you never know who's watching. And yes, I know "millions" of people use it, and "it's safe". I just find it passing strange that he's posted this thread with images of some odd "event", and those pictures are offering a third party link to another site. Just sayin' ... Taking and uploading a screenshot using SwiftKit and most other media uploading software (Like ImageShack Uploader) provides a button to simply copy the BBCode / HTML for the image to the clipboard. This also copies a URL tag to that service. No biggy. :P. Ah -- that explains it then. Thanks for that. <3:
