  1. That means you have a 300W (Watt) PSU, therefore all your components in the computer have to equal to 300watts or less to run otherwise there won't be enough juice to power your system. You should post all your computers specs, the easiest way to do this is to download a program called Speccy and paste what it says there. When I say better graphics card I mean that you should have to buy a new, more powerful, graphics card to replace your current *crappy* one. With your motherboard a Asrocker N68-s, it is not possible to run two graphic cards at once because it only has one slot to put in a card. Letting us know your budget for upgrading would help, lets us narrow down what would be most cost-efficient for you
  2. Its honestly pretty low end, there are a lot better graphics cards that give you more "bang for your buck." You should really post your computer specs because it would help us narrow down and suggest a more efficient card.
  3. Without spending too much you'd get the most benefit from buying more memory, 4GB should do, and a better graphics card (we would need the amount of wattage your PSU puts out). Check the picture below to see. To find what your PSU is just open up the case and take a look at the metal box in the corner of your tower with a lot of wires coming out of it, it should say how many watts in small or large writing. Also try to see if you could work in some overclocking on your processor or ram for an extra boost, your motherboard supports it so take advantage of that.
  4. While there could be a few reasons why your hard drive is failing, have you noticed a lot of heat where hard drive is supposed to be? If you can have Speccy out while using the laptop and see how high the temperature for the HDD reaches. This may be either the laptop design was not efficient and will not properly cool down all your components or dust has accumulated and is preventing proper heatflow. It could also be just bad luck with the new hard drive, considering you got it for "free" with the warranty makes it highly likely it is a refurbished product and may not work as great as a brand new one.
  5. Games Osmos HD - Phenomenal game where you have to absorb other spheres of masses and become bigger, a lot of replay value and challenging BattleHeart- Nice, semi-rpg, fighting game where you control a few characters to fight against waves of enemies, requires fast fingers and ability to multitask N64oid - Nintendo 64 emulator for the android, need I say more? SNesoid- Super nintendo emulator, super mario and zelda anyone? Dungeon defenders - Great game if you can get it to work, Tower defense, rpg, realtime combat, multiplayer. Quite a few people have trouble because this game requires a high-end device to run properly GTA III- Grand Theft auto ported onto android, fully functional and the same gameplay as on PS2 Game Dev Story - Interesting game where you build a company that makes games, depending on the genre and type you generate money from sales and gain fans and can develop more games/upgrades Those are pretty much all the games that were actually fun to play, I was never a fan of angry birds either. I'd list apps but most of them require root access so im not sure if it's worth getting into.
  6. I'd highly recommend a MalwareBytes scan to make sure everything on your computer is clean.
  7. It really is a nice SSD, should give you a maximum WEI of 7.9. Anything less may be a cause for concern. Also I heard about new firmware being released to settle a bug that caused random BSOD after x amount of hours. I'm not sure if your SSD came with the latest but it may help to take a look at the latest updates and compare.
  8. I know this is an "Apple" thread, but I'm getting the feeling that a few posters here are generalizing that a Tablet = iPad, there are dozens of tablets on the market and just because an iPad is "overpriced/overkill etc." doesn't mean the entire definition of tablet falls under that. I personally own an Hp TouchPad (dual booted with android+WebOS) that i've gotten for 99$ during the firesale. Don't get me wrong, I still would have spent the 300 dollars it is worth now. I have to say for some people (especially me as a college student) a tablet has great benefits over a laptop when it comes down to portability, battery life, and just-enough performance.
  9. Are you currently running RS using a broswer (eg. IE, Firefox, Chrome, Opera) or using the RS client? If using the installer failed try downloading the offline version of Java download, it has helped me get through a few error messages in the past. If the above fails there is a, bit more aggressive, way of taking care of your problem through deleting some old registry entries using Regedit in Windows.
  10. Just a quick question, are you referring to your internet connectivity on the Xbox 360 or your entire network ? If you are having trouble with the internet connection on your Xbox 360 then by all means try using another cable (it does -not- have to be an Xbox certified cable, any Ethernet cable will/can work), along with swapping with another port on the router. If you are having trouble with your entire network it is most likely coming from your modem (ISP) or your specific router. My suggestion before anything is to try a Power Cycle. After that test to see if your router is at fault. Try checking your connection by plugging your modem directly to a computer/xbox and see if there are any disconnects or lagg. If the problem still appears then your router is not the problem and you will need to call your ISP to check your connection. You can use these links to test the connection Www.Pingtest.net www.Speedtest.net
  11. While you may have more than the recommended amount of memory to play, one of your sticks may be at fault here. My suggest (just to clear out the possibility) is to run Memtest86+ to check for memory errors. This can be done by downloading the .Zip file and putting it on a USB flash drive. This test requires you to keep your computer on for a few hours to thoroughly test your memory, try to pick a time (like while you sleep) to run it. Alternatively, you can run Memtest86+ from a Linux CD/USB. IF you boot from the CD/USB you have the option to run Ubuntu or Memtest86+.
  12. I'm pretty sure OP managed to find a solution to his problem, the background looks different compared to how it was before.
  13. A key factor keeping your computer running good and lasting a long time is keeping it nice and cool, and not exposed to too much heat. Dust is a major problem in keeping your hardware cool, cutting off circulation of air would mean quick death for most of your computer parts. As soon as possible clean the case and components as thoroughly as you can. Also when cleaning your computer ALWAYS remove any power sources, keep it unplugged until you are finished. Normally I see dust collect on my outer fans which I take care of using a vacuum hose with a bristle attachment which prevents pushing the dust further into the case. When cleaning the hardware inside it requires a much more delicate touch, since it is prone to static and getting fried. You should be fine with a compressed can of air. I'm not sure about the GPU fan you are talking about, you should clean it as much as possible (maybe use a soft bristle toothbrush to help?) to and whenever you get the chance, check the temperatures to see if they are within a normal range (also check your CPU temperature). You could always add new fans to your case if you have the room (or actually buy a better case altogether) to increase air flow/dust reduction.
  14. To start off with the picture and question, those are PCI-Express x1 slots, which basically mean that a card that can run at pci-e x8 can also go into that slot, but will have significantly lower transfer speeds. The benefits of this you ask? not much comes into my mind, except for the fact that theres a larger range of pci-e cards (You'll probably never use it, i know i never had to) Your build does look good for modern games, I should last you a while before having to upgrade drastically. Unfortunatley there are limits that are you're motherboard has. There is no second PCI-E x16/x8 slot s you woouldn't be able to Crossfire/SLI another graphics card. That mean you'll have to buy a completely new card if you choose to increase your GPU performance. Also I'm not sure if you can overclock on this board which would be good because you can get higher performance without spending money on a new processor. I'm not sure what you mean here, but at any time of your choosing you can simply take out your PSU and buy a new PSU with higher wattage. Most people have around 550+ PSUs, most cards recommend/have a minimum wattage that a PSU should have which is around the 500 watt mark. Your build is fine, granted that it will be outdated in the coming years but it should still carry you for the long run fairly well.
  15. The real benefit of building your own computer is being able to control every aspect of whats going into your system, and future proofing your investment to be working strong for the coming years. Also if you do decide to build your own computer you'd gain invaluable knowledge in terms of hardware, which is a strong benefit along with having a new gaming desktop to play with. Imo go with a new build. There are people here who know what they're doing and have helped many before you, you'd be in good hands.
  16. LG is definitely a strong brand, along with Toshiba and Pioneer, I just threw some off the top of my head. I have a 40" LG in my living room, works very nice. Just be careful because cheaper is not always better, check reviews and common problems of the tv.
  17. There is a problem with the M4s at 5000 hrs. http://www.anandtech.com/show/5308/crucial-to-fix-m4-bsod-issue-in-two-weeks There should be a firmware fix soon, so just keep that in mind. Appreciate the heads up, Ill keep my eye open to upgrade my firmware when it comes out.
  18. Imo don't go for a tv through ebay, I'd rather deal with a company like amazon or newegg etc. for buying somthing large and possibly expensive. With Ebay you could wind up with dead pixels or worse and you probably won't get a refund. Remember whenever you are looking for a TV, always check reviews online about it. I literally spent pver an hour at a store Googling the best models and their reviews. I personally like Samsung Tvs but theres a few good name brands out there. Panasonic, Sony, Samsung, Sharp, and Philips are well known.
  19. Crucial M4 works like a dream. Thanks for the suggestions.
  20. There seems to be a defect in the Westinghouse tvs according to a few google searches. Would really help to get your model, check the back of the TV and see if a sticker says any model or series. How many ports are on the TV? try seeing if the xbox works on another port. Try to isolate the problem and see if the problem lies with the xbox or the tv. To start off with you can do a factory reset (of the tv) to see if any setting are affecting the resolution of the Xbox.
  21. Had this been always happening or just recently? Try using firefox without any add-ons and see if something is causing a conflict. On the menu bar click Help -> Restart with Addons Disabled. Also make sure you're Adobe Flash Player is updated to latest, along with your browser. If all fails then download another broswer (Eg. Google Chrome) and see if the problem is resolved using that.
  22. Sadly cracked screens don't get protected under warranty, if you have insurance on it then it might be covered. Before anything just contact Apple or the store even and tell them what happened, maybe there's a chance someone will help you. If not then I would recommend taking it to a professional to get it replaced, or just do it yourself, I've done it before and its pretty straightforward. http://forum.tip.it/topic/293240-ipod-touch-4g-screen-replacment/ (Laura posts a link to a repair guide a few posts down)
  23. This explains it simply and quite well. http://auhongsen.wordpress.com/2010/06/07/the-difference-between-straight-through-crossover-and-rollover-cables/ Physically all that is different is the order of the 8 wires found inside the cable. Essentially if you have a cable making kit you can find an old straight-through cable, cut off both connector ends, rearrange the order of the wires, reattach the RJ-45 connectors, and voilĂ  you have a crossover cable. Or just buy one online
