Very odd freezing problem with friends computer
Try updating bios, it surprisingly did solve one of my problems for a client when we did a few hardware upgrades. I would probably guess that the new bios overwrote previous settings that over/underclocked the memory and caused instability. Hopefully you can RMA the board if nothing else.

Ipod Touch 4G Screen Replacment
Thanks Laura, that guide is very good to use as a reference. Also I managed to dig up my answer to my problem after playing with my wording for a few times. It looks like I need to buy both an LCD and digitizer. Kudos for the help.

Ipod Touch 4G Screen Replacment
Im more than confident in my ability to do this as I've fixed a few phone screens myself for different models. But with Ipods its a grey area where I want to make sure what im doing and could get all the knowledge i can beforehand.

Ipod Touch 4G Screen Replacment
As you can see above in the picture that my screen on the Ipod is cracked (I dont think i can buff that one out :lol:) I know from some phone repairs that the digitizer needs to be replaced, and im already buying it off ebay a replacement. The only question is that if anyone had experience doing this, would it be easier to buy both an LCD+Digitizer (I hear something with the glue makes this a hard process due to the adhesive if your only replacing the digitizer). *Also if buying a digitizer also includes the protective glass screen that comes on top of it*?. My LCD works perfectly, and my digitizer gets full functionality. Really if it didn't look bad and wasn't harmful i'd simply just continue to use this as is but would rather fix the screen. There might be a problem with my camera for a reason, its not working. Any advice, links, tips are welcome. Just don't ask how this happened :wink:

Best AV for mac
ClamAV is very good, but the better one is ClamxAV because its just ClamAV with a better GUI (and of course free) But on about the debate on Macs needing antiviruses, keeping everything updated and using some common sense reduces goes a long way. Long enough to not need any protection, but it does grant piece of mind for a miniscule performance cut.

Acer Aspire 5536 Help.
If its possible reinstall windows 7 and then check your temperatures at start, run a program called *Prime95* while checking temperatures and see if the heatsink and fan on the processor are doing its job. Doing a fresh install give you a clear indication of a hardware or software problem. To me it looks like a software problems seeing as from your story that you had it working perfectly, then after some weeks/months of use you received the problem over and over. Also when using your computer make sure it had sufficient airflow from the bottom, using it on a bed/carpet or on your lap is a no-no. There's also a lot of great general advice about computer maintenance in the posts above. *Prime95 is a program that stresses your computers processor and ram to their highest levels, this maxes out the laptops temperatures. This is beneficial because if you run the program and let the temperatures rise, after you stop the test then you will be able to see how well your fans ability to cool down your computer are along with its ability to cool the computer under stress.* "On an absolutely stable system, Prime95 would run indefinitely. If an error occurs, at which point the stress test would terminate, this would indicate that the system may be unstable. "

Plagued with crashing and freezing problems
Type msconfig in the Run window and edit the startup tasks to make sure there aren't any programs aren't causing this. Maybe along the lines of a program scanning, connecting to internet, or edits somthing when windows boots.

Windows 7 --> Personalization Problem
Well it does make sense because RocketDock sounds like a program that customizes something, glad your problem was solved.

Wireless Dlink internet problems
I have rarely did any networking in Vista, but it does seem that disabling it is very annoying. It would be easier to try to configure your adapter (the green bars) though the properties. Take a look and you may see something along the lines of "Allow this program to manage your wireless" and disable it. If it worked with Vista before perfectly then it would be best to recreate that situation. The link below is an alternative if you cannot find that setting. http://www.nerdgrind.com/wireless-networking-frequently-asked-questions-for-windows-vista/

Managing media files across a mac and a pc
You should be able to use a cross-over cable (assuming that both had an ethernet port) in order to transfer files from one to another, I've never tried video editing with it. Though, I'm relatively sure using a separate medium of data transfer from one computer to another would be slower than just running it off the computer itself.

RS Client problems...
What does the error message say exactly? Have you tried reinstalling Java? Have you tried playing on different broswers? Try redownloading it and uninstalling it again. It sounds ridiculous if something like that were true where they force to use the client. Also a system restore to the day before you installed client should do the trick too.

Windows 7 --> Personalization Problem
http://www.winhelponline.com/blog/unsaved-theme-shown-listing-windows-7-vista/ Glad I had this article in my bookmarks. Usually this problem occurs when you have a program inside of windows make a customization instead of Win 7 having control of it. It could also be that changing the sounds would keep you from selecting a default theme. If the article doesn't work let us know. If you want to make it more simple I believe a system restore to an earlier state where you didn't have this problem would work. It would take out the program that caused this.

DVDs & Hard drives
http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&N=100007603%20600003269&IsNodeId=1&bop=And&Order=PRICE&PageSize=20 I would say go for a large hard drive and keeping everything on there. You could get a 1.5 TB for as little at $60. As far as ripping them on the computer, as long as you don't distribute it then I see no foul play. If your just using your hard drive as storage then the only reason I would see RPM and cache being a factor to you is that amount of data transfer the hard drive will have to take. It will take longer to read\write files on slower drive, and really when hard drives are this cheap there's no reason to not spend another 5 dollars to get a significant boost.

Wireless Dlink internet problems
First I would start out with narrowing down what is the cause of the problem. Try doing diffrent experiments that will help you narrow down your causes Bring your computer closer to the wireless router, if the connection is fine then there may be interference between walls or some blockage Check other computers if they have the same problem, it might not be as bad as yours but any significant drops could mean the router is a bit funny. Make sure there arent weird setting in vista that are somehow limiting the wireless to a certain range, interference from phones may cause this. Reinstall the driver for your wireless adapter to make sure it is up to date. Once you determine whether it is the router, computer, adapter, or interference then it is easier to find a solution. (I have a weird feeling its something with Vista settings...) are all the computers in the house running the Vista OS Edit: Usually when you have wireless on a computer only ONE manager is supposed to control the wireless internet. In your setup it seems that your wireless adapter along with your Vista wireless managing your network. This will in most cases cause conflicts, I recommend that you let either Vista or D-Link manage it and disable the other. I recommend disabling built in vista windows amd using your adapter

Wireless Dlink internet problems
Sorry but I'm just trying to clarify your question for myself and other people. In the diagram the router may be a direct switch that just expands lan ports or be a wireless router. Usually a router works independent of computers, so you could disconnect your "main" computer out of the equation and your router will still send out a wireless signal. I believe you may be getting it confused because you do router configurations on your computer (when really you could do it from any machine connected to your network, with the appropriate username and password of course). Or you're using another setup in which case this paragraph and picture is totally irrelevant. If you don't mind, saying your ISP, computer specs, ethernet/wireless adapter model, ect. would help to solve your problem. My guess would be that your wireless reciever may be the cause, i would try and connect it directly with an ethernet cable and see if you get steady internet and then you can narrow down the causes. Also do all your computers use Vista?

New rig for BF3
Just looked at your setup, it looks fine. Just wanted to make sure you buy all the correct things I learned about my i7 build. You should Definitely buy a 3rd party cpu cooler, the stock is okay but you're no doubt overclocking (even if not the significantly lower temps are amazing). While on the topic of the heatsink and fan, make sure to buy some high quality thermal grease, an extra 10$ wont hurt for a nice tube or artic silver (you can use it on up to ~6 processors before finishing). COOLER MASTER Hyper 212 Plus RR-B10-212P-G1 "Heatpipe Direct Contact" Long Life Sleeve 120mm CPU Cooler Compatible Intel Core i5 & Intel Core i7 (Make sure this beast fits in your case, it really is as big as they say. It fits in my HAF 932 full tower snuggly) Arctic Silver 5 Thermal Compound - OEM Personally I'd go for a full tower for the maximum space and maneuverability, they are big but if you have the space very much worth it. Edit: Not sure if you have this already but missing speakers/nice headset

Internet Explorer 9 (Out Now) vs Fire Fox Version 4 (Still In Devlopment)
Firefox all the way, im actually been a part of the beta since it came out. I do say it lags a bit from just beta glitches but overall its very promising. Im suggesting they rearrange things around as it could be a lot more compact and friendlier.

Worth upgrading my computer?
Vista post SP1 is very stable. Hell, my Vista SP2 computer is more stable than both my Windows 7 computer. Windows 7 SP1 seems even more stable though. I'm tired of people like you saying Vista is bad. I have used and repaired many pcs and laptops with all kinds of operating systems, and to be quite honest vista is one of the least user friendly and resource hogging. Im far from a win7 fanboy, just putting in my 2 cents and hoping people don't take my opinion personally.

Well, this one I don't really understand myself a lot.
The only thing I can think of is by some rare chance your monitor and modem run on the same frequency and cause an interference with one another. Put some distance between the two and see. Also give changing the refresh rate on the monitor a shot, changing it from 60 hz to 75 or vice-versa. Put that demon possessed modem in a bag with 50 lbs cement weights into a river.
