  1. GBA got its own GTA game. I don't see why everyone is so surprised that the DS gets one.
  2. I've finally decided to buy and play this game, since it's supposed to be better than Oblivion. Then again that comes from people who love Oblivion, and so I'm not sure I trust them.
  3. It was a really good movie, but the amount of "best movie ever" comments around the internet and in real life is exceptionally irritating to me. I mean, I really enjoyed this movie, but when stuff gets over-hyped it makes me like things less. And it makes me look more for the bad parts of the movie (this one has many, many flaws, some of which are major issues). And when people say it should win best movie I just want to laugh. And when people clap in the end it makes me cringe. Really saps the fun out of stuff when I have to argue against a good movie because I feel I have to in order to bring people down to earth.
  4. Hope you like spending $100+ on a lunchbox and clock thats US only. >.< Ehhh, I'm not getting the clock thing. That's the "Survival Edition" and it's $120 for PC ($130 for consoles). I'm getting the one with just the lunchbox and the bobblehead. I think it's only ~20 dollars more.
  5. I suppose you mean *new* games: BiA: Hell's Highway Spore The Witcher: Expanded Edition Far Cry 2 Fallout 3 (Collector's edition, despite being burned by how poor Oblivion was) Left 4 Dead Starcraft 2 Those are all likely buys, but I'll have to see if they are any good before deciding to buy for full price. As for *old* games, probably...atleast 20.
  6. It looks very Max Payney, which is good. I wasn't as big a fan of the first game as the second one, but it still looks very good.
  7. I don't own any consoles, so none of those. But I do own a copy of Planescape: Torment, which came sealed in it's original box. Paid $99.99 for it, plus shipping, import tax, and the US-CA conversion (which was notable then), so it ended up around $135. I probably should have left it sealed, but since I have no intention of ever selling it, I opened it to make sure everthing was there because it is pretty easy to "factory seal" something.
  8. Why is it a sad thing that a bad game is getting no press? That makes me happy.
  9. I did what you said, and apparently it's still doing it. So maybe I need a new modem.
  10. Saw The Pianist, Atonement and Big Fish. All good  . Nothing else noteworthy (Jumper was a good time, but in 6 months I will have entirely forgotten it). It hurts my hand to type, but I will say that watching Atonement means I have seen all 5 Oscar noms. And this is honestly the first time when I've watched all 5 without there being a clear winner. I honestly would be completely satisfied with There Will Be Blood, No Country for Old Men, Michael Clayton or Atonment winning (although if Juno won I would lose what moderate respect I have for Oscars). I don't even know if I could rate the 5, but I guess it would be: 1. There Will be Blood 2. Michael Clayton 3. No Country for Old Men 4. Atonement 5. Juno But honestly, like I said, the first 4 could be jumbled into any combo and I think I'd be happy.
  11. Lately my internet connection has been cutting out unpredictably. Some days it will cut out hardly at all, other times it will cut out every 10 minutes. It usually lasts 30 seconds to a minute, but seriously messes up any internet gaming. Its probably been going on a month now. I called Rogers (my ISP, duh), and they said one of my cable modem signals may be off or something, and they said to make sure everything was properly ventilated and plugged in. My router and modem are both plugged in and well ventilated, but nothing is working. It happens on both computers attached to the router. Rogers also said it wasnt on there end, and might need to send a technician or something, which I would rather avoid, seeing as how I guarantee they will charge me big bucks and all they will do is tell me to get a new modem. As Im writing this, my bro is telling me that the modem is making a light show of sorts when this happens (Im not usually on either of the computers when it happens). I have a Webstar DPC2100R2 Modem from Scientific-Atlanta, Inc. (my router is a D-Link DI-704UP, with the newest firmware). Anyways, there are 5 lights PC, Cable, Send, Receive, and Power. Normally, Cable and Power are constantly on, with Send and Receive flicking on and off. He says when the thing disconnects, Send and Receive stop flicking, then PC, Cable and Power stay on. Next, all five turn on for a second (like its restarting?. Then Cable and Power turn back on, and the internet works 20 or 30 seconds later. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.
  12. Don't want to take a pic, as they are sort of stacked in front of one another (such that you can only see some of then). My collection is about 150+ PC games, and 5 PS2 games (though soon to grow, you know, when I actually buy myself a PS2).
  13. They'll make CoD6. They seem to be alternating now, so they can pump one out every year.
  14. Never owned a console, but I'm buying a Ps2 this summer to specifically to play MGS1-3 (along with a few others games...Okami, GoW, SotC, any FF I can get, Killer7...). If I can find a 60gb PS3 I'm gonna grab it instead. I need that perfect BC. Since I won't find one though, I'll maybe pick up a PS3 next summer or something.
  15. I'm soo confused by this thread :? . I mean, where's the rest of it? Did I ever even make this thread?
  16. Fortunate that this got put on the front page, as I was going to bump it up anyway. I guess we might as well talk about our summer gaming schedule...I've already been done school for 2 months, but some people are probably just getting on summer now or won't be for another few weeks. Anyways, I have a lot of games to be playing this summer. It's finally the time I hope I to get caught up. I have been experiencing crippling wrist pain for months, so I've been resting it...It's still not 100% so I'm entirely off gaming for the time being, but I've done some since school ended. Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory - Soild game, but basically just like every other SC game. It had a few features that I really liked, especially the ability to switch hands on your weapons. It's something I've been wanting in every game I've played since and I think it should be in every third-person shooter from now on. Other than that, it's just basically like every other SC. I have Double Agent waiting to be played. 8.2/10. PoP: Sands of Time - Pretty terrible. The jumping/climbing puzzles were a blast, but the combat was terrible. The barely-there story was not terribly compelling, and I just couldn't get interested. Since I pretty much only play highly acclaimed games, this is among the worst games I've ever played. 5.5/10. Jade Empire - Another great Bioware RPG. Not quite as good as KOTOR, but it comes very close. It had a strong story, amazingly deep combat, interesting locales and was overall very polished. My only gripes were that the combat seemed a little unbalanced depending on what build you went, the dialogue options/roleplaying were good but not great, and the characters didn't interest me that much. Perhaps if I were more interested in Chinese lore and/or kung-fu movies - it's said to be enhanced by an interest in those things. Even still, it gets an 8.8/10, and is the best RPG I've played in quite a while. S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl - Just finished this a couple days ago. I was so excited to play this game, I had to play it despite the wrist thing (note, its the only one I've listed that doesn't use a controller which doesn't hurt so much). It started out amazing - it's truly a game for the hardcore PC gamer. These guys have played some games and you can see their influence all over. Deus Ex, Fallout, Half-Life 2 and a little classic Rainbow 6. It's like a much stronger more interesting version of Oblivion. The patches have almost all the bugs worked out, and it flows really well for the first 2/3 or so. The only problem is the story is little more than an interesintg plot for the first parts, and the ending sections are reminiscent of Indigo Prophecy in that they take a surreal turn (for the worse). But it still remains a fantastic tactical-FPS/adventure game. 8.5/10. Lego Star Wars - Fun game. Not much to it, a good way to pass 20 minutes to take a break from something else. I'm about 80% done. It was worth $9.99. 7.5/10. There are bound to be about 10-15 more games this summer, including but not limited to Bioshock, Hitman: Agent 47, Ghost Recon, SC: Double Agent, F.E.A.R. (+expansions), Condemned, Vampire Masquerade: Bloodlines, The Witcher, Portal, HL2: Episode 2, and a possibility of COD4, Crysis, Mass Effect, and Gears of War.
  17. Just thought I'd point out the age of this post... :-k 2006. When did Viktorkrum get banned and for why?
  18. Korla: I really wanna play RT now.
  19. @Indy - Have you played any other Total War games? If so, which one is the best, gameplay wise. I'm a history major and so all history is pretty interesting to me, so I don't really care what time I'm playing in. I just wanna play the best one.
  20. Not to mention both RPG and MMORPG have existed longer than FPS.
  21. Just wrote my exhaustingly long take on Chrono Trigger. The last few paragraphs I'm not quite happy with, but I've been writing for nearly two hours and have more than three single-spaced Microsoft Word pages. I don't expect more than one or two people to read it all, but overall I think turned out OK. So here it is: [hide]Preface Chrono Trigger is a game that has garnered a lot of attention over the years. It frequently appears on many ̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ãâ¦Ã¢â¬ÅAll Time Best̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬ÃâÃ
  22. Even though this isn't my thread, I'd like to remind people to use Hide tags. Even small spoilers can take away significantly from some games. Planescape: Torment Spoilers within: [hide]One of the things I loved about that game was how it wasn't about saving the world or rescuing a princess. The whole game was about some guy on a very personal, and very intense mission. There were like 5 endings to that game, but correct me if I'm wrong they were all (I know atleast some were) fairly similar as to where you end up. It was a satisfying ending without world peace or flying off into the sunset to live happily ever after.[/hide] Fallout 2 also had a really fantastic ending, I thought. GTA: SA, the last hour or so really made you think. Just a few weeks ago my bro was playing through it. I haven't personally for a while, but I watched and that game's story is surprisingly deep and well-acted, with good themes summed up well in the end. I remember one point near the end where there was a very powerful cutscene, and me and both my brothers couldn't take our eyes away (even my other brother who was busy in WoW had to stop and watch). System Shock 2. Excellent ending.
  23. I just finished my first playthrough Chrono Trigger. I'll post my thoughts tommorow, as I have a lot to say and it's very late. And I used my time making this highly necessary sig.
  24. I'm happy, there's almost nothing coming out this year for PC. I must say, PS3 is poised to have an amazing year if all the big games make it. I'll likely spend the entire year getting caught up from 2007 and years prior (I have about 15-20 games I need to play, which is a lot of work). I may pick up a few original games, depending on their reviews. Legendary: The Box looks pretty good and there were one of two other shooter/action type games I might look into. Plus Mass Effect might come to PC, and that would be nice. I'm really on the fence in regards to GTAIV. GTA: SA was in my opinion the greatest gaming experience one could have. But IV looks a bit too serious, without going the full way to Mafia type seriousness/realism. Based on the trailers, it's just in an unholy sort of place. When I watched the first GTA: SA trailers, I became literally more excited about its release than...maybe anything in my life as bad as that sounds. But I'm just not that into this new style (or lack theirof) Rockstar is going for. Plus it might not come to PC.
