A debate, Heart or Brain?
My brain controls me. Every time my heart tries to take control, my brain (for better or worse) keeps me too firmly grounded in reality and reason.

Not a good card, but soooo cheap =P~ .

What shows should/shouldn't have been cancelled/ended?
Isn't Scrubs in it's last season, and the writer's strike is just interupting it? The Simpsons should have been cancelled 5-6 years ago, or ideally, 8.

Is there really a #1 antivirus/spyware remover?
I just did a quick scan of all the first page of google results regarding rankings. There is no concensus, though if I were to average them out I'd say Bitdefender and Kaspersky came near the top more often than others.

how many times have u accidently called your teacher mum
Haha. One time a guy in my class said "Yo' mamma" to a supply teacher, and she thought he said "You're mamma". Very comical. I don't believe I ever have, atleast loud enough for someone to hear. I hardly ever adress people, come to think of it, I normally just start talking.

Regrets and life...
BAHAHAHAHA. I've heard that before (whether it's a true is debatable, it's not in my dictionary), but still I laughed like a lunatic when I read that. Couldn't you have just said you skinned your elbow?

Seinfeld
Great show, though I've seen the episodes way too many times now. I donno the names, but my favorite eps are the one where Kramer stores his blood, the one where the Cubans wrap the crepes, the one where Kramer gets the assistant, the one with the slicer, and the one where George sleeps under his desk.

LuCallbackproxy and svchost
I ran Spybot in Safemode, and it didn't come up with anything meaningful. I ran the Process Explorer again during one of those [bleep]es, and it is indeed LUCallBackProxy, with 7 or 8 of them each taking 3%. They are under running under something called LuComServer_3_2. From what I gather, LUCallBackProxy should run once on startup and a few more times during the day, but I have no idea why its making 7 or 8 of them. Maybe I'll email Symantec, but they will probably give me the standard reply that won't do anything.

Are You Afraid of the Dark? (tv show)
I used to love that show, even though it occasionally scared me senseless when I was like 5. I remember it came on YTV every Friday at like 8:00pm (late!), after some Video and Arcade Top 10, that was like filmed in some basement. Goosebumps was another one that sorta scared me, though not as much.

LuCallbackproxy and svchost
I already came across the Process Explorer thing, but didn't know what to look for. There are 8 svchosts with betwen 1 and 30 processes. How do I know which one is bad, and what was it in your case, and what caused it?

LuCallbackproxy and svchost
1. Hello. Since I moved into my dorm again, my computer has been acting really funny. The startup is taking 5-10 minutes for one. Worse, is that every 10 minutes or so my computer has a 60 second [bleep]e where my CPU usage goes way up without much reason. I checked my Task Manager, and atleast 6 versions of LUcallbackproxy[Caution: Executable File] were running, and it seems that when those stop, the slowness stopped. After googling this, I found that LU=LiveUpdate, part of Norton Antivirus. However, further research found that there should only be 1, and it should stop right after start up. So really, I'm not sure this is a Norton problem, or a virus disguised as a part of Norton. People on google said it may be a virus, but I never got any conclusive evidence. I disabled Liveupdate, but it still seems to remain (though it seems less often). Among my searches for that, mention of scvhost[Caution: Executable File] was in a lot of the same search results. There are also 8 versions of that running. It is a file for Windows, and apparently more than one are supposed to be running but I'm not sure if this is an issue (others have reported CPU usage going to 100% with that many scvhost[Caution: Executable File]'s running. I guess my question is whether anyone has any experience with this or could suggest something I should do. One site said it may be either a virus, or someone trying to hack but is unable to get fully through. None of these problems happened when I was on my home internet, and when I got to school there were problems getting my connection to work. 2. Barring any results, I'll probably just reformat my computer, as that usually works (unless someone is indeed trying to hack me, in which case I'm not sure what to do). One thing is for sure, I've pretty much had it with Norton products. Can anyone suggest a good, or a couple of good AV programs, either freeware or retail? Perhaps there is a concensus on this?

Game of the Year 2007
Yea, but it's gamespot. Nintendo probably threatened to pull their funding.

"Rare Non-Skip Albums"
I don't think I would ever skip anything on Eagles: Greatest Hits Vol. 1, every song on there is fantastic. Despite DSOTM and The Wall being great albums and among my favs, On The Run I could do without (though I would never skip anything after that), and The Wall has atleast 5 songs that I would probably skip if I was strapped for time. I probably wouldn't skip any on Sgt. Peppers though, or Atom Heart Mother (probably my favorite album). WYWH and Animals I would rarely skip any, because there is only 5 songs on each.

A psychological decision
Most clocks seem to be electric, though I guess you could ask for a mechanical one (though I guess you'd never know if it was keeping time). Showers/plumbing seem to need electricity to pump water. I guess you could ask for a tub, and a lot of hot water, but I hate baths.

What do you have in you music, DVD, video games collection?
I have about 100 movies b/w me and my brother, but I've stopped collecting them. Part of it is I don't watch nearly as many movies as I used to, part of it is that HD will likely take over at some point, part of it is that I tend to only watch my favorite movies ever 2 or more years (I don't like to ruin them), so I only need a few and can rent most others. Plus, I don't really collect because most movies (that I watch, atleast), are so easy to find that it isn't that impressive having a reasonable collection, it just means you've spent more money. How2PK's is impressive because its a gigantic collection, plus he's got all those collectors editions and foreign movies and memorabilia and stuff. I've pretty much turned my focus to collecting PC games, and am currently trying to track down some important ones of the last decade or so (currently have Fallout and Fallout 2 coming in the mail). Once I get a credit card I can really start moving on the rarer ones, and I can go on ebay. I guess if you count all compilations and boxes that contain more than 1 game, I'll probably be approaching 150 PC games soon, though I'd have to do a formal count to be sure. I'd take a pic, but I don't have an impressive display. It's in like, the tiniest shelving unit I could fit it in, and it makes the amount look a lot smaller than it is. CD's...Probably about 30. Don't really have a wide taste in music.

A psychological decision
Room A wouldn't be that bad. I mean, it wouldn't be ideal, but given the two choices I don't see why A is that bad. I might get kinda of antzy without a shower for 20 years, though. But without the constant need to do chores, work, and all the other worries of life, you could basically become exceptionably knowledgable and skilled in several areas, and could probably stay in pretty good shape. I don't talk to people all that much now, and often actively avoid direct communication with other humans, so that wouldn't be as much of an issue for me compared to extroverted people. A few weeks ago I went an entire day where all I said to a person was the brief interation required to order and pay for a meal. This would be just like being in jail, but with most everything you could want, and minus the group showers with lonely fellow inmates. The only thing I think I'd really need would be a clock. With no windows, you'd have no conception of time, how long you slept. Though I guess requesting daily newspapers could give you some idea of what day and year it was. And to all those saying they would shoot their way out: This is just something to ponder. If they ever went through with this, they'd see which you picked then intervene to stop you from killing yourself or getting into the room. The idea is to see your reaction not to see you go through with it. Plus, if you killed/exploded your way out, you'd get put in real jail which wouldn't be so cushy.

saddest movie ever
In all honesty, the closest I've ever come to crying in a movie was the first time I saw Wilson floating away in Castaway.

What movie(s) did you last see?
The Machinist: A good, satisfying movie. But in a depressing sort of way.

What movie(s) did you last see?
Silence of the Lambs - A good movie that's been given way to many accolades. It was amazingly well acted (Anthony Hopkins...just, wow). I even thought Jody Foster did an amazing job even though I don't especially like her as an actress. Both deserved their Oscars. However, I don't know why the film as a whole has had so much acclaim with the Oscar committee/American Film Institute/critics/IMDB rating. It's a good movie, yes. But it's teeming with plot holes. The first half is excellent, but then it essentially turns into a prolonged episode of 'Criminal Minds'. One of my favorite TV shows, yes, but its episodes aren't fit to win prestigious awards and have widespread acclaim as things considered among the best of all time. I just don't get it. Independance Day - I really dig this movie. So much fun to watch. Deliverance - Mixed feelings here. On one side, I enjoyed the feel of the third act and the ideas surrounding it. On the other hand, this movie seems to suggest that hillbillys are all terrible creatures, and that reconnecting with nature with your friends will mean something terrible will happen. Overall, not very impressive.

Is the sound blaster X-FI worth it for me?
Creative is the best. I've been using them for 10 years now and never had 1 problem. My last 2 cards have been the X-fi Xtrememusic and Soundblaster Live! 24-bit, and the 2-3 computers before that have been SB carded aswell. Whether to get an X-Fi card over an Audigy (I know you already got one), it really depends on whether you're an audiophile or not. Onboard has come a long way, and many gamers claim its just fine. I don't think many would notice a difference (I'm pretty sure I wouldn't in gaming, though I take my music listening more seriously), but it's always nice to have the newest and best. Better support, no worries about it breaking or having it be uncompatible or crackling or anything. I personally woulda either gone with a newer Audigy (4?) over the Xtreme Audio. Can't remember, there's something about it that makes it not as good as the other X-Fi's, and therefore not worth more than an Audigy. Shouldn't matter much though. Can't remember where I found the comparison chart of X-fi cards. Only problems I've heard of is running older games on Vista. But ALchemy has fixed that for a lot of popular games. Creative owns.

Whats some of your fav TV series ?
I was never really a big fan of TV, but lately I've been watching some shows that have been on for a long time and I never really payed attention to before. South Park used to be ok, but I never really watched it much. However, unlike most shows it seems to be getting better with age, and so I really enjoy it now. Scrubs was another show I never really got into, but over the Christmas break I've been watching it every day and it's really a fantastic show. I also like Friends (for some light viewing), Seinfeld (though I've seen every episode too many times now), Frasier (which I've rediscovered my liking for over this break) plus some anime like Naruto and Bleach are nice. I also like the show Criminal Minds a lot, and Without a Trace is good aswell. Some popular shows I could never really get into: Lost (I really don't understand the popularity), 24 (it's ok I guess), Prison Break (not seen alot, didn't really like it), The Office (it's good, but some people think it's the best show ever), House (It's ok I just don't particularly fancy it like so many diehard fans in my residence). The best show of all time, though is the Simpsons, roughly seasons 3-7 being the best part. It makes me feel terrible watching what it has become now, it tries so hard and it just doesn't have a single joke left worth telling. It's also lost it's identity as it seems to be trying (FAILING) at social commentary like South Park and stupid/bathroom humor like Family Guy. They should have stopped at season 10 or so, though it was technically acceptable until about season 12-13.

What You're Playing
I just finished Freedom Force vs. The 3rd Reich. [hide]I am extremely pleased with essentially every aspect of this game, and I honestly couldn't think of anything I'd change. It's not surprising to me that this is an Irrational game. They are really a great dev studio. The best part of this game is the amount of style and humorous feel of the game. The graphics are amazingly clean, filled with nearly completely destructable environments. The cutscenes are amazing (comic-book style, they obviously did their research/are fans), the characters are interesting and unique, and their powers are fun to use. The sound, especially the hilariously over-the-top voice-acting is just perfect, and it has one of the most memorable original scores in memory. Furthermore, the gameplay is fun. It's a squad-based tactics game (which I'm sort of indifferent to), but it combines the complexity of micromanagement with a very user-friendly interface and feel. I set it to Normal difficulty (It suggested this for experienced players), though I had a very easy ride though without any experience with this series. The levels are fairly good but not terribly diverse, but the game is the perfect length such that it never gets tiring (10-15 hours). This game is really a gem. It doesn't seem to have any real talk behind it, and I highly doubt there will ever be another sequel due to Irrational's (...2k Boston) success with Bioshock. In fact, there were ZERO players online when I attempted to try multiplayer, though this may mean they are playing somewhere else I'm not sure. Anyways, if this is your kind of game (60's comic-book inspired squad-based strategy game), definately pick it up for 10 bucks. I really hope I can find the original Freedom Force somewhere. [/hide]
