  1. Wow, you found some pretty obscure state songs :P. Off the top of my head I'd sub: "All my Ex's live in Texas" - George Strait "Ohio" - CSNY "Louisiana Woman, Mississippi Man" (works for either :P) - Conway Twitty and Loretta Lynn "Midnight Train to Georgia" - Gladys Knight & the Pips "Oklahoma!" (from the musical of the same name) "Detroit Rock City" - KISS (for Michigan) I really dig your choice for Virginia - very well-thought out.
  2. I dunno, I guess in theory it's better, but not in practice for me. 2 cases: I went to see a movie, I believe it was the Bourne Ultimatum. It's 30 seconds into the movie; I'm very pleased no one has taken seat next to me. However, a very, very large woman comes in after it started, sat down, and guzzled coffee for the first little while (quite annoying), and then for the rest of the movie had the most disgusting breath you've ever smelled. Very displeasing indeed. Another, this one is quite funny in reality: Went to see 16 Blocks (not a great movie to begin with), and some old brods came in, again with one sitting next to me. Anyways, she is wearing a very heavy coat and is talking to her friend (this was during the starting credits). So she turns, and knocks my drink so that it was just sorta tipped, then fell back into place. *phew* I think. Next thing I know, she turns again, this time not so much luck: when she turns to look ahead my drink fell right in the seat behind her. I freeze. She doesn't notice. I'm confused. My friends start cracking up. I have no expression, just look forward. A few minutes later, I used the light from a cell phone to check the floor. The drink was no where to be found. She must be sitting on it. It must be under that heavy coat. More time passes, about 15 minutes, she screams and gets up; her coat is all wet. I don't say anything: It was her own fault. She has no idea what happened, but she and her friends leave. I was somewhat relieved, but very mad that I had spent 4 dollars on a drink that I had hardly touched. And how do you concentrate on a movie after that? I am so much more distracted by terrible movie occurances in cinemas than at home. Despite How2Pk's objection to it, I love that you can pause, rewind, etc. That way if somethings distracting you, you can deal with it, or you have to go to the bathroom, you can without missing anything. Or if you miss an important line, or you don't understand what just happened, you can rewind (I do this often in subbed movies, and Memento...) Movies at home are very nice, and I have a great setup, with good sound, and a very comfortable couch. I only go to the cinema when I have to see a certain movie NOW.

Crysis is finally coming tommorow! And I can't believe there isn't a topic. Has anyone tried the demo? How has your computer been handling it? It's without a doubt the most demanding game ever, and easily the best looking. However, the amount of quality-scaling is very impressive. Even at low settings and res, it looked better than Far Cry and I was able to get it running with P4 2.8ghz, ATI x300SE and 1.5gb RAM, my old computer. Considering when I bought that computer 3 years ago it was not especially good, I was very impressed with how it worked. I'm very excited to try it on my new computer (built for Crysis when it was supposed to come out last winter): 8800GTS 640mb 2gb XMS2 PC2-6400 RAM Intel C2D e6400 (2.13ghz) So far on metacritic, the game has been getting great reviews (not as fantastic as I hoped: COD4, Orange Box, Halo 3, Galaxy and Bioshock have all gotten better this year ). Of particular note is a 98% in PCgamer, the highest score of all time (tied with HL2, and Alpha Centari). I'm not going to bother posting links or writing up a summary, because if you don't know you probably don't care anyways.
  5. I planned to buy Morrowwind for so long leading up to Oblivion, but I had other games so I never got around to it. Instead, I played Oblivion and thought I'd play Morrowwind after. I never did, Oblivion was just not a very good game for me. Two major problems: 1) It's an RPG. Give me a story I can really sink my teeth into. I felt that the story in Oblivion was so cookie-cutter, which is fine sometimes, but it was awfully undeveloped aswell. None of it made me interested. 2) Most people have said they enjoyed the side-quests more than the main story anyways. Not me. With exception to the Dark Brotherhood (which, if the rest of the game had been that good, I would be praising Oblivion right now), the quests were just downright awful, mostly due to a lackluster level design. The towns were neat and all, but the dungeons were terribly repetitive, and there just wasn't too much of interest out in the woods. It's really a shame. The game is a technical marvel in graphics and physics, it had enjoyable combat and most of it came together well. It's just a shame so little creativity went into essentially all of the aspects of the game.
  6. LOL at Jazieks story.
  7. War 3 is the best technically and creatively, pretty much among the best RTS's of all time. Age of Mythology is nice...I think I enjoyed the single-player campaign even more than the War3 one, but it was just sorta meh online. Middle Earth games...Well, never played but I've not heard anything too great about them. I'd definately go with Warcraft 3, it's a fantastic game.
  8. Well, I've playing through System Shock...Lemme just say to anyone who thought Doom was the best shooter of its time: you missed out on something big. System Shock the game that was farther ahead of it's time than any game ever has been, or ever will be. According to google, System Shock came out ~4 months after Doom (so it's not like it was a clone), but is ages ahead. Besides the Deathmatch part of Doom (which is largely what made it popular), Doom doesn't have a thing on System Shock. The features introduced in System Shock make it play almost exactly like a modern shooter. Let's just take a look at some of System Shock's features: -Fully 3D environments -Crosshair Mouse aiming (not like it is today, but it works much better than keyboard) -Looking up and down -Crouching, going prone -Sprinting (and fatigue) -Peeking (!!!!) -Fully (and fantastically) voice acted log messages for your PDA (exactly like that seen in Doom 3)[Note: This calibre of voice acting is rare in todays games] -A well-written, well-paced story and fully fleshed-out setting/plot -Extremely well designed, somewhat creepy level design -Nades -Hacking puzzles (quite similar to Bioshock) -Enemy immuntities (you can't kill a robot with darts etc. adds strategy) -Highly variable everything (resolution, all manner of different difficulty levels (ie. you could have enemies on 'Hard' but puzzles on easy or something), text length. -You actually get better as the game goes on: you pick up things that improve your HUD, targetting etc. -Picking stuff up (with your hands, then throwing it), as well as inventory Basically it has all the things you'd expect of a modern game, and which many don't deliver. In all honesty, you could give this game a graphical make-over, modern music and a more refined mouse-control system and it would probably be hailed by critics and fans alike. It absolutely puts Doom to shame, and had it been for better marketting or timing, this would/should have been super popular. So that's all I have to say about that.
  9. How come your link says it's un-confimed by Bethesda?
  10. Apparently this is among the best shooters of the year and among the top COD games ever. To much competition right now though, not enough time.
  11. That's pretty much what I figured. I can basically tell w/o watching it that there won't be any special surprises or outstanding anything. Just another one of those flicks that come out every year or so that everybody loves because it doesn't suck.
  12. Only one good game and its better on pc tbh which is half life one I'm gona ignore that and not argue. I dunno why, but sycosis' response is just awesome.
  13. It's not going to sell well, mostly due to the timing (COD4, Assassin's Creed, Crysis all within a week or so...As well as a slew of other games). I'll buy it when it's $9.99.
  14. I like this review better: Warning: Some Language and cartoon violence. http://www.escapistmagazine.com/articles/view/editorials/zeropunctuation/1394-Zero-Punctuation-BioShock It's the best review of a game I've ever heard.
  15. If your over the age of 15, I hear Killer 7 is a radical game. That's right. Radical.
  16. I took the alcohol too...Very sleepy, otherwise no effects of alcohol. And I think I can attribute the sleepiness to my lieing on a comfy bed in the dark at 2am after a hard days work. Or maybe it was the beeping.
  17. I'd have a nice long 16 player Instagib Godlike session of Unreal Tournament. And it would play Deck 16 every other map. If ever I could only play a game for only a few hours and it was to be my last, there's not a thing in the world I'd love more.

If you have a good PC: get a PS3. If you don't have a good PC, get a 360. This is because every important game on 360 is or will be on PC, save for perhaps Mass Effect (which will likely come to PC). Most Sony exclusives never come to PC. And as of right now, 360 has a somewhat better library of games unavailable to PS3 (I'm thinkin'...GOW and Bioshock). The Wii has the weakest library though, and unless you're into Mario/Smash Brothers, it doesn't look like its going to change all that much.

I would like to be a screenwriter who works closely with a skilled director/cinematographer team to make sure my vision is realised. I don't especially have any interest in those things nor do I think I would be very good at them, but I think I could write a mean script.
  20. I read: Hamlet MacBeth Romeo and Juliet A Midsummer Nights Dream The Giver The Outsiders Animal Farm Holes To Kill a Mockingbird Of Mice and Men A Tale of Two Cities A Clockwork Orange One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier and Clay (not considered a classic, but excellent) 1984 Dune ...and that pretty much sums up every important book I've read in the past 6 years (also read a Dune Spinoff, the sparknotes of Cold Mountain, some book called Plainsong, the abominable Independance Day), and all but the last 5 were curriculum reading, and all but the last 2 were related to school in some way...That's right - I've read 2 books on my own in 6 years, wanna fight about it? As for the ratings, those are unimportant. What I find pretty neat is that all over the globe, the English classes pretty much use the same material. I mean, Shakespeare and TKAM are fairly obvious, but The Giver, The Outsiders and Holes seem to be used a lot. Neat-o.
  21. I was wondering when someone was going to make a topic. I wasn't all that interested once Toronto failed to reach the playoffs, though I was impressed with Colorado's insane run there through the end. I don't have a TV in my res, so I had to listen to the games on the radio (is that not ridiculous?).
  22. Transformers - for some reason everyone told me it's "good" or "really good". But that's not how I would describe it...Something along of the lines of "fromage" or something. It was so cheesy, but fairly fun to watch, and I didn't really feel it dragged on considering it was 140 minutes of robot battles and awkward teenage situations. It's should be obvious to everyone (it clearly was to the filmmakers) that this is a summer action flick, and therefore "good" is not an adequate way to describe it.

I DL'd it at home on my Dell (ATI x300SE, 1.5gb, P4 2.8ghz), and suprisingly is ran ok. By ok, I mean its reasonable enough to get through the demo on, but if it were the full game it wouldn't be worth it. But I was extremely impressed that it ran at all w/ that low end graphics card from 2 gens ago, and a P4... It does however give me hope that it will run very nicely on my main computer that I put so much overtime into affording (8800GTS, 2gb, e6400). I'm hoping to be running it at ~1280x1024, settings high and no AA. It should look nice and run wickedly fast. And if it doesn't, I'll get more RAM or overclock or something. The gameplay is kinda neat - its not very challenging at all on anything other than delta, but it is a lot of fun to just be a superman. On delta its more like Far Cry where you have to plan out a strategy and use cloak pretty much all the time. This is fun, but since the suit is there, I want to make the best of it ;).

Question: In America, if you get a misdemeanor is that considered a criminal record?
