  1. I'm almost sure that we're just over the climax of game quality and are on a downward slope, though obviously it's a personal opinion. The 'golden age' I would say ranges from roughly 1997-2000, with a wealth of exceptional games up to about 2004. Games may be getting technically better, but it's just because of bigger budgets, bigger development teams, and better technology. I think the game designers are less skilled now than they were just 5-10 years ago, as the gaming business becomes saturated with more and more game development teams. Plus, as people have noted, people are crunching out sub-par or even just mediocre games because the publishers are demanding it. The mistakes made now are made because of inadequate time and testing, and the games are mediocre because of the lack of ambition due to the risks involved. Old games show problems because of too much ambition! The games showed so much heart, and they seemed more like the developer sharing a vision than a ploy to get in your wallet. But I don't dismay. Good games will still come out, especially from places like Blizzard. They seem to weld the polish and big-budget feel of most modern games with a genuine creativity that most devs don't seem to share. I will still play new video games, but at the rate we're headed, we're looking at only 3-4 great games a year as opposed to a dozen or more seen a few years ago. Essentially, the video game business is turning into the music business. After MTV, it's become all show, with only a limited amount of musicians making quality music. But like the music business, this one also shares the fact that there's enough in the 'back catalogue' to satisfy someone like me for the rest of my life.

I'll be at University, so no TV for me. Maybe on special occassions (ie. World Series), I'll head over to the common room. Otherwise, no TV. :(.

It's just to show her that he's spying on her...
  4. Watched Good Will Hunting and Bourne Ultimatum. Both owned. I wonder how Ben Affleck and Matt Damon wrote such a good screenplay?
  5. I still have Chrono Trigger around somewhere...I got halfway through, and was having a blast, but then I went back to school after Christmas break and was straight into exams...So by the end of January I had completely forgot about it. I think I'll boot it up again when I'm at uni cuz I don't want something too addictive as I shouldn't have as much time.
  6. I thought the same thing, but Rockstar has never missed a release date they've announced. They also don't usually announce games' release dates 18 months before they're going to come out.
  7. I would tell you not to trade these game in, but it just means I am able to pick up cheap, used classics when I need to. I'd love to pay more for unused old games, but they don't carry those. But I buy used games so I can play them/collect them when there's nothing else available. So if you're tired of getting ripped off don't sell them. But on the other hand, someone else might to get to play an old game they might not have the chance to play normally. Like me :).
  8. Planescape: Torment, KOTOR, Diablo 2, Deus Ex (only somewhat an RPG), Baldur's Gate 1+2, Fallout 2. Roughly in that order, though the Kotor-DX is fuzzy.
  9. I don't think this should be surprising. I mentioned to someone just last week how it didn't seem like GTA 4 was coming out in a few months. There didn't seem to be enough info on it, enough hype generated around it. And that usually starts coming when the game is sure to be released soon and development is wrapping up. It just didn't seem like it would be released so soon. I just hope the PC version comes, and that this game is better than it appears.
  10. I like classic rock, but I just have one thing to say. I have no idea why people like Led Zeppelin and ACDC so much. I honestly can't think of one amazing song by either. Obviously it's an opinion thing, and Stairway to Heaven is pretty good, but I really don't find either of these bands to be better than many others.
  11. Yea, I seemed to be a step ahead of what you were "supposed to know", so when the 'twists' came and were made a big deal of, I wasn't impressed.
  12. It looks pretty bad, I have to say. The jokes look just as bad as those in the recent episodes, which are becoming almost painful to watch, because it seems to be written by people who aren't smart or clever, and therefore it hurts to see what the show has become.
  13. Is it full-screenable? Cuz that would be awesome (I'm still going to watch it either way, Blockbuster doesn't carry Rashomon).

Me and my bro got pretty far into Vertigo before we came across a level that apparently had 1 more square than it had paint...The other ones I only put a little into, Vertigo was the best IMO.
  15. That's the point. They aren't hurting anyone, their just trying to have fun. They're kids, they don't need you to parent them online. It's not like they're going to take heed anyway.
  16. I think Futurama is consistently the funniest and easiest to watch. It's witty, and, like the Simpsons, you notice new funny things each time. KotH is funny, but only some episodes. Peggy Hill is so annoying (I know that's the point, but I don't care), it ruins episodes, and the characters seem to always get into bizzare situations that aren't so much fun to watch. American Dad is just recycled, one-time-laugh kind of humor, not very good.
  17. Talent and chemistry, for lack of a better word. Most people can get good on an instrument given enough time and practice, but the best musicians and composers have some inner talent for writing good music and lyrics. The other thing is the way the music flows together, I called it chemistry, but the way the intruments work to create some greater whole. It seems like, in many of todays rock songs (as an example), the guitars fight for control with the vocalist, the drummer goes crazy to try to be heard, and the bass is just there because everyone things it should me. Many poor/average songs (IMO) are as such because their musicians aren't playing well/right together.
  18. Though I agree to some extent, I think it's that we completely disregard a large part of old movies/games/tv shows/music...They had their fair share of bad, we just don't remember it because it's not worth remembering. Unless it's worth remembering for being bad.
  19. I don't have any idea how it could be fixed (I'm not a thinker), but both American and Canadian healthcare systems are seriously flawed. In America, your loved ones die and the doctor is there with a bill. You have to deal with your loved ones/self being sick and dieing, AND the added healthcare costs. You might not get an operation because you don't have the money. On the other hand, we have the Canadian system. Sure, it's universal, but it gets abused hardcore. People go to the doctor for such pointless things, it just wastes their time and our money. And it's because of this that people have to wait so long on operations - our hospitals are clogged up with people who don't need it as much as those who really do. So until there is unlimited resources and medical health professionals, no system of healthcare is going to be perfect.
  20. As soon as the weight of the world crushers your spirits...~Sometime in the mid-teen years. But true adulthood I'd say comes when you move out. And not just to a dorm, that's like a transition period. But when you actually have to worry about buying your own food, cleaning your place, budgetting and dealing with financial crisis. I think that's when you are an adult.
  21. Well, Eli Roth made Hostel 1 and 2 so...
  22. Don't do it!
  23. Ok, I got it working 8-) . All I needed to do was the chkdsk /p. Thanks guys :).
  24. Well I've had my computer unplugged for about a month, and finally I'm hooking it back up (but not without problems - my monitor wasn't working but that's another issue). Anyways, since my monitor wasn't working I definately hit the restart/power button several times out of frustration. Now that I've gotten it working, I have an entirely different problem. My computer starts up, does the normal motherboard word thing, then says the following: I have no idea what has happened. I didn't add any new hardware, the only thing that really changed is I'm not connected to the internet, I probably pressed the power button a few times. So I made attempts to use safe mode, start windows normally and last known good configuration. All begin to open windows, then I get a blue screen with some writing, then it goes to the mobo screen again and repeats the same thing over. So if anyone has any ideas, that would be great.
