  1. Hmm, is that a good thing? I agree with Daan, post up your pic. Yeah all the cool kids are doing it 8-) . I'll try my hardest to get a pic up before the weekend, though you might miss it in the 100 or so pages there will be by then. I'm in my dorm now, and I have no camera. I'll be done exams and at home by Wednesday night, so I should be able to get a pic up Thursday. Phil: By your posting style I figured you'd be a regular looking guy, and you are. In my books that's a good thing. Indy: You've described yourself before, so I'm not especially surprised. How2: I've seen you before I think, but with much shorter hair. So be patient, I'll try to get a pic up ASAP. I WANT TO BE A COOL KID, TOO!
  2. Morally he should, and most would be much happier to see him behind bars for life (myself included, though I'm pretty sure he will be at some point anyway). But I am glad to see that juries still use evidence instead of moral judgment.
  3. He'll eventually be labelled a dangerous offender, most likely. And I haven't been in law for a few years: With what he's got now, is that concurrent or consecutive?
  4. Yea I been around a long time. But you never know, kids are getting serious about games earlier and earlier. And I can't tell from his pic - He looks noticably older than 14, but if anyone's seen Apocalypse Now, Laurence Fishburne is only 14 in that and he plays a 17-year-old and could easily pass for 20+.
  5. That was a long read. Biggest surprises: Nadril - dunno what I expected. I guess older looking with glasses (you say you're a University student in computer something or other right?). No offence bro, but you look real young. Speaking of 14, is misplacedme really only 14? I can't believe that at all. I won't believe it. Please confirm this someone? Another surprise. Lionheart_0. Was expecting a ~15 year old girl. Sorry. Oh yeah, and the answer to your question Lionheart - Is it Deckard Cane? He says "Stay a while, and listen" exactly, you said something like that but not exact so I'm not sure. Least surprising: Phil. Only one I looked at and said "That makes perfect sense". I may get a pic up eventually, no camera in my dorm though. All the pics taken by others - I'm...too drunk. P.S. Who is laff2 and why does he have ~100 posts in this 2-days-old topic?
  6. Psychedelic music is still very popular among soft drug users and hippies. I think it really depends on the crowd. Almost none of The Beatles' music is what I would consider psychedelic. Some, but the vast majority is just pop-rock.
  7. I watched American Psycho. It was hilarious, one of the funniest movies I've seen in a while. It was good, over-the-top acting and fairly well written and extremely interesting, plus I watched it on Blu-Ray and an HDTV, so it looked amazing. SPOILERS: [hide]Despite the fact that the ending fit the movie well, and I couldn't see it going any other way, it still felt really cheap. I dunno why, that's just how I feel. Also, I've never laughed so hard at a guy getting chopped in the face with an axe. It was really, a very funny movie.[/hide]
  8. Eh? Edit - Damn. How2 got to it first.
  9. The Beatles are probably the most popular band even today, I mean, if you look around at all the people with Beatles shirts, and people who like the Beatles, it's downright mania. I like some of their work; I don't worship it, I don't think they are the best band ever, and many of the songs in the first years of their career are downright irritating. I don't think I would put any Beatles song in my top 10 favs, probably not even my top 20. However, I do enjoy some of their songs/albums, and give them credit for the sheer volume of great tunes they made. And I think the reason people don't make music like this anymore is they can't. They were a product of their time, and an incredible collaboration of talent.

Lol, that was funny. But seriously, it was like 10 days without even seeing the main character - so I really need to stop looking in this thread and at this damn addictive comics.
  11. Can you describe the length of time and circumstances under which you became addicted? Like, how long did it take before it was habit, or how long before your body actually physically desire it. How long before this happened, and how much did you smoke during that time.
  12. I hate that the world has went and got itself in a damn hurry. I'll start with society. People are always multitasking, I'm not just talking about when driving. I always see people doing so many things. They aren't concentrating on what's important. I think we can all agree without me going into details that people are always doing an activity with something (often portable technology), when it couldn't possibly be that important. It's the problem of society as a whole and individual people. Society has tied up our schedule. There's never enough time for everything. I haven't been bored in more than five years, because there's always something I could be doing, and most often should be doing. And this results on negative things to some people. For example, I've seen many-a people crumble under the pressure of having one too many projects due at once, and they also have to work, and baby-sit, and go to basketball practice and so forth. Part of it is our ever increasing need for material possessions (I'm somewhat guilty of this, I admit), but a lot of it is just people wasting time on things that aren't important, when they should be enjoying the things that are. Which leads me to my next point: I hate how people cannot for the life of them figure out how to prioritize. I can't count the number of times I've told co-workers, friends, peers, parents, even bosses "It's not important right now", and "There will be time for that later". This goes hand in hand with there being too much to do. People have yet to find a legitimate way to deal with it other than to panic (in my opinion, the least efficient emotion) and try to multi-task it. There are so many people who can't distinguish what's important here and now, and they don't realise that breaking routine is often the best course of action. I love routines, I've built my life around them. But sometimes it's absolutely necessary to break them. Finally, I hate that because of people's busy time tables and lack of priority, they are unable to catch-up and do the things they really want. It's like, everyone is a hamster running in that hilarious wheel. If they fall behind, they'll get flipped around and fall out and they lose. And there's no way you can ever beat the hamster wheel. I know the world doesn't work this way, and it never has. But if people were able to go do the things they love, say re-read a favorite book or sit down and actually listen to an album of music rather than blasting it over the sounds of the other subway passengers on their Ipod, I would be a lot happier.

It's Time * Money because it would be Money * 2 instead of Money^2. They're not quite the same thing. What!? Stop reading!? Did you see the last page of book seven!? I'm aware of the benefits of having Money^2 over Money x 2 for the sake of the joke, but I see no reason why A 'and' B means they are multiplied and not merely added together. And I say stop reading because I read 800 and some pages in 3 days, now 1 page a day is downright agonizing. I'll start reading again in 2010, don't you worry.

Due to legal restraints and human-resources procedures, they aren't allowed to disclose details of his departure. However, widespread conspiracies point to the higher-ups at tip.it dropped the axe because Bubsa's zaniness was costing them ad revenue. This is what myself and many others have chosen to believe.

The only thing I don't get about that math type thing is why "Time and Money" is Time x Money and not Time + Money. Also, OOO new book. Perfect time for me to stop reading this and get on with life.
  16. Looking back I don't see it as that good, but when you're really into it you can't stop. The fighting is good. Sure, they all play exactly the same way 1. Throw kunais 2. Damn, he dodged them, he must be strong 3. Kage Bunshin 4. Damn, I got owned 5. What do I do now? 6. Ingenious scheme 7. Victory 8. Smoke clears...What?! 9. Back to life 10. Now what will I do? 11. Summon demon fox chakra and/or flashback leading to incredible strength 12. Victory! (most of the time) The fights can be really good though; examples: Lee Gaara, Sasuke Gaara, Sasuke Naruto, Zabuza vs. everyone, anything with Neji, Chouji vs. Sound ninja...etc, etc. They are really fun to watch, and usually well drawn. But mostly, it's the universe. The atmosphere is great, and you can actually care about the characters, so you want to find out what happens to them. That's mainly why people watch any TV show/movie series. Oh yea, forgot to mention: There's more than a few "WOW!" moments. Be it genuinely surprising story events, or some sweet combat.
  17. I had an awesome one...Kind of like DOTA but less RPG more action, the focus was more on the objectives and teamwork than leveling and upgrading items. It took a long time, and I was pretty proud of it, but there was some bug when I went online...I dunno if it was a trigger bug or if it was caused by the program I used to "lock" it (so that no one else could edit it), but it always kicked everyone but the host out after a few minutes. I still have it somewhere...
  18. How old are you if you don't mind telling me? I am just wondering becasue if a teenager I just find it hilarious that a grown mother wouldn't think that logically. The thing is I will be like gorunded for life if I quit, not allowing me to do the things that bring me happiness, but the wrestling is killing me. I will not hurt the team that badly, although a great wrestler and 3 year varsity starter, 3 of my good wrestling partners are very talented if not better in some areas. I'm 18, and I my mom was exactly like this when I lived at home. She wouldn't let me quit volleyball even though I was a bench warmer, I hated volleyball and I may have even brought morale down with my constant pessimistic comments. My mom wouldn't let me quit, something about I had to stick by my commitments. I had the same feelings that I would get in a lot of trouble. However, like deloriagod said, they'll get over it. For example, my brother came home one day and announced he had just quit his job because he wanted to concentrate on school. She was furious for a few days, and pretty mad for a week or two afterwords, but she got over it. Especially when my brothers grades went up a bit she was fine with it. [i found out later the main reason he quit his job was so he could play more WoW  , but his grades did increase a bit and I think my point remains]. So either let your mom deal with it, or deal with wrestling without complaining (or quit job, school, girlfriend, I don't really care).
  19. Do you like wresting? If not, quit. If you were my child and you defied me and quit something you didn't like, that's a much more useful life skill than sticking with something you don't like [at least in this case, where the benefits of wresting are nothing compared the the cost]. I mean, sometimes we all need to suck it up and get through things, but sometimes it's just better the call it quits. Unless you are an important part of the team and you'd be letting them down by quitting. And plus...dude, it's wrestling.
  20. Hanging out with friends. Actually, drugs.
  21. In fact, if you take disregard that some of those games are getting ported to 360 from PC next year (which technically you should), there are more PC games than any other platform. Oh ya, and even though I'm in no way a Halo fan: Halo 3>Halo 1>Halo 2
  22. Well, now that we're into December, the release schedule for the rest of the year isn't all that significant. Since likely all the best games on all platforms this year have come out (ironically, in the last 3 months or so), we might as well start speculating what the Overall GOTY is going to be in major multi-platform publications, as well as talk about what our own personal opinion is on the matter. We can also talk about games that came out this year and were of utmost quality, but won't likely be winning the GOTY awards. So let's get to it! There are a huge variety of games in contention, spanning all important platforms. As I see it, the following games all have something that puts them in the running for GOTY: Orange Box (PC, 360, PS3) Mass Effect (360) Call of Duty 4 (PC, 360, PS3) Bioshock (PC, 360) Crysis (PC) Super Mario Galaxy (Wii) Rock Band (360, PS3) Halo 3 (360) As well, there are a few other games worth mentioning, though they won't likely be landing the top spot: Unreal Tournament 3 (PC, PS3) [PS3 version out soon, Xbox 360 to come next year] Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass (DS) Uncharted: Drakes Fortune (PS3) Ratchet and Clank Future: Tools of Destruction (PS3) Metroid Prime 3: Corruption (Wii) S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl (PC) World in Conflict (PC) Final Fantasy Tactics: The War of the Lions (PSP) Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock (PC, MAC, 360, PS3, PS2, Wii) Virtua Fighter 5 (360, PS3) Enemy Territory: Quake Wars (PC) (360 and PS3 to come in 08) This is by no means an exhaustive list, but I think this is a fairly adequate representation of this year in gaming. If there are any titles I've missed, please do include them. You obviously don't need to have played all these games to give an opinion (unless you were a critic it's unlikely you've played half of these). However, I'd still like to hear opinions based on any experience, as well as what you've heard and the overall impact and hype generated by the title. Here's my personal decision, hidden because it's fairly long. [hide]Personally I'm going to discard all the games in the second category, and focus on those in the first. I'm going to slowly discard games (in order) until I come up with a winner. For overall GOTY, I believe Crysis, and Rock Band can be discarded. While both well-recieved games, I don't think they quite have what it takes for this title. I also personally think the hype of Halo 3 has been somewhat overshadowed by other games this year, despite it's crazy sales and huge ad campaign, atleast among the actual gaming community. Mass Effect has also generated some hype and gotten good reviews, but I don't think overall GOTY hype and reviews. COD4, which I would say has the fourth best chance, has gotten phenominal reviews among critics and fans, but still, I feel it may fall short of the prize. That leaves us with Bioshock, Orange Box, and Galaxy, the ones that I think have the best chance to gain GOTY in the major publications. Honestly, I can see it going to any of these, especially since most sites/mags seem to be grouping Orange Box into a single package. Despite this, I don't think Orange Box will win game of the year. It was recieved very well, and has a lot of talk about it everywhere especially since has 3 platforms (2 now, another soon), but I just don't think it has enough to win itself Overall GOTY. So that leaves us with two. I honestly believe these are the two titles that will win the GOTY awards, and I think they will each garner more than a few awards from different places. However, since I'm only able to pick one I'm going to go with Bioshock. My justification for this, despite it's overall lower score on metacritic, is that even through the minefield of releases that has been the last few months, it is still consistantly mentioned as a major contender. It also has been cited as highly derivative of System Shock 2, but since most people haven't played that anyway, this is the first of its kind for many PC and 360 gamers. That leads to my most important point: It has sold well and been widely revered on both the PC and 360. This puts it at a distinct advantage over Galaxy, which is only on the Wii, representing a much smaller availability than the 360 and PC combined crowd. This has put other titles in previous years into the overall GOTY spot in some publications. For example, Gamespy's PC game of the year 2003 went to Call of Duty, with KotoR placing 3rd on the PC list. However, the combined Xbox and PC praise was enough to give it Overall GOTY there, with CoD placing at #6. So despite the universally high acclaim of Super Mario Galaxy, I believe the comparable praise of Bioshock, combined with its success on two platforms, will give it the push it needs to be considered GOTY. Overall GOTY: Bioshock As for personal GOTY, that remains to be seen. I've been at unviversity for the last few months, so I've been too busy to adequately give titles of interest enough attention. Over the month-long winter break, that should change :).[/hide] Now good luck to you picking a winner. Please put some careful consideration into this, it will make it a much more interesting subject. Don't let fanboyism make your choice for you.

#-o To be fair, I only ever really player the multiplayer part of that game, with friends and such. I may of done one or two missions on it.. but yeah. That was only half my point, the other half being that Goldeneye is in no way, shape or form a platformer.
  24. But having paid, say 1 year of a quality gym in advance, motivates you go to there. Otherwise, every day you 'lazy-around' will just remind you the money you spent was totally wasted when all you have is a card you don't even use.. :P That, and I got plenty of friends training at the gym... I trained for some 8 years seriously now, but those guys are ripped, big time. It's always humbling to see you aren't perfect, and got a lot of work to do if you really want to get in shape. Something I couldn't remind myself of back when I tried training at home. "Well, since I paid for it..." isn't going to get people motivated. Seeing a machine in your face might, might not...Really the machine thing is more for convenience. Personally I'm very unmotivated to work out, mostly because an hour workout usually means an extra half-hour of travel, plus getting changed, plus a shower, plus making a protein shake and ahhhh the hell with it I'll just watch T.V.
