I agree, Half-Life looks far superior...Especially since you need only an average computer and can run it on good settings with perfect framerate.

Oblivion!
Hells...I'm level 17, Master (level 100) Alteration, 100 wisdom mage. Things like deranged zombies are so hard it takes 5+ minutes to kill them with my spells. And I can't afford better ones. I even bought a decent one and it still does next to nothing to them

What movie(s) did you last see?
I watched Amelie a few days ago. It was a bit slow to get started, but once it picked up it was quite excellent. Pretty good acting, excellent direction, some solid humor in the mix, excellent story, it was. There's not much else to say. Last night I watched A History of Violence. It kinda disappointing. It was only 90 minutes, and it never really did too much. The few action scenes were far between, and when it wasn't being action filled, it didn't seem to be doing much. This might be one of the shortest screenplays (in actual words) I've ever seen, as there is a lot of time where almost nothing is happening. It was OK, I guess, but my overall feeling was "meh". This week should be a good one. Ideally, I will watch "Good Night, and Good Luck" today, "Taxi Driver" and "Paths of Glory" mid next week, then "Capote", and "The Squid and the Whale" next weekend.

The first time you go into Oblivion on the main quest, it's not particularly hard. When you get back, though, all the demons have gotten through the gate, and they are tougher than the Oblivion monsters...They take a lot of damage.

Dark Forces is the best classic FPS (I just put Jedi Knight series in my post, I donno if that implies Dark Forces, since it's only been called Jedi Knight series since Jedi Knight; but it should imply it) Anyone who claims it a Doom clone is so wrong. Sure, it didn't have that LAN support or whatever, but the features, levels, story; all so much better than Doom IMO.

Yeah, I figured it out shortly after I posted. Minor spoilerYou have to get a recommendation from all the other mage guilds to be able to get in.

How do you join the Mage's Guild in Imperial City. Isn't it just the Arcane University? I can't find who I need to talk to. This is driving me mad.

Help buying and then installing RAM
Oh joy...I checked crucial.com. I believe you now Merciful, but it's still more expensive than getting it straight from Dell. :\. And more questions: How much will 512 extra RAM increase my framerate on Oblivion, and how much notice would I take from not putting it in pairs? Because I probably would go with 1x 512 in my third slot, then later in the year when I get a job I'd get another 512 (for a total of 1.5gb). It's just easier to upgrade next time. Also, when I try to upgrade to the latest graphics driver, (Catalyst 6.3), I get a "Zero Display Serive Error". I've tried completely removing all ATI software from my comp several times, I've tried the same in safe mode, and I've turn off all my anti-virus software while doing it. Still nothin. And just one more. For some reason in the past few days whenever I start Windows it takes me to the account screen. Thing is, there's only one account, and I can't figure out how to make it go straight into windows instead of making me click the one and only choice. I'm realatively sure I didn't screw with the accounts, and am also relatively sure that no one's been on my comp. Just annoying.

You can make it third person as you please. I'm running the same card, and it's pretty slow. Though my comp just sucks. But as I've asked before, will upping from 512 RAM to 1gig of RAM increase my FPS much? I'm still on minimum settings, and the indoor environments are fine, but when riding a horse outdoors it does get a terrible FPS. But I'm so hooked now, I can't stop. I want to skip school, and I haven't even thought of doing homework the past few days. It grows on you (and I hope it grows on me more when I get more RAM).

Oblivion!
Yeah, I'm sure I'm not crouched and I am running. I even used the 3rd-person mode, and it really looks like he's walking in slowmotion :/I guess I just don't notice the slowness, because on my custom Mage, I chose Intelligence and Speed (go figure), and my constellation was the steed (plus 20 to speed). I knew right off the bat that walking slow is my biggest hate in games, and any way I can find better speed I will get it (think finding all the sets of Boots of Speed in BG2, or maxing the speed aug as fast as possible in Deus Ex). Speed is amazingly important to all classes, whether you use it in combat or not. What was ur sign/attributes? And I must say, the game is getting better the more I played it. Though a half-hour long horse ride through the jungle from Weynon Priory to Kvarith(sp?) at less than 20FPS was bogus. It really feels smooth though when indoors, and the combat is actually fun and not dangerously hard.

Newer model Dell's aparently have mismatched pins (ie. they don't line up with the pins of standard RAM). Or so I have concluded. This only includes Dell Computers made in the last 1-2 years, and I'm not even sure if that means all of them, and possibly some before. But the middle gap piece is off. So then you can only use Dell RAM in Dell computers, and that's what they need. Stupid Dell wants me to spend all my money on their products.

Nadril, where is Planescape: Torment? Don't tell me you haven't played it :?. It's...I can't tell whether it's slightly better that SoA or slightly behind. I think probably slightly better though. BG1 is so very close in calibre to SoA that I can't really say which I prefer. KOTOR is also in my top few. D2 aswell, and D1. Those are the RPG's. I'm gonna count Deus Ex as a shooter. Half-Life 2 is amazing, and Half-Life. Deus Ex (would you believe my bro just played it and he said it was boring)+sequel. MAX PAYNE 2(and 1)! Unreal Tournament. Call of Duty. Jedi Knight series. Rainbow 6 series (though I hear Lockdown isn't good) Splinter Cell's are also pretty good. And BF seroes/ AoK and WC3 are the two greatest RTS's ever, nothing else comes even close. But the greatest game ever is without a doubt GTA: SA. No question in my mind. Vice City is good to. GTA3 is fine. GTA:SA is the best game ever, though.

You know you can run ;). And are you sure you're not crouched? Lol, in the first dungeon I was accidentally crouched, and I didn't know it. I thought I was encumbered so I dropped almost all my stuff and left it (none of it was good, though). I felt the fool when I realised it. But upon closer inspection, it's a pretty good game. I got a taste of how it would feel with amazing framerate (I stepped into a tent, the framerate was excellent as it didn't have to process much at all). I also found where I can buy my RAM (possibly the only place, and it has to be straight from Dell). 88 bucks for 512 :\. :( Oh yeah, and where can you get a cheap horse, and how do u make sure it don't get stolen/run away. Stupid stolen horses keep going back to their master.

Help buying and then installing RAM
How stupid. I went in to Futureshop, just to look around at some new RAM, and he said since it was "DELL SAMSUNG DDR2 MEMORY 256mb 1Rx8 PC2-3200U-333-10-A1 " that I would have to buy it straight from Dell. He said it was "RD" or something, and that they made it so that only RAM made by Dell will work with it. He said other's wouldn't fit, because the space in the middle was changed in place. I'm not sure if this is true. He didn't seem to be the smartest guy, as he didn't seem to have ever heard of Dual Channelling...My bro bought 1 stick of 512, and he asked if he shouldn't get 2x 256's for Dual Channling, and he said nothing of anything like Dual Channeling. So my bro's comp, which is Dell Dimension 4600 got to have RAM, but they changed mine (mines Dell 4700) so that I can't get RAM. So I'm now wondering what to do. I hope Oblivion works...Since I bought it.

Oblivion!
Omg, my computer sucks. Due to technical poopiness, I had to run on very very low settings. I think I might have to make it so that my draw distance is farther though, because I feel I'm missing far too much of the game without it. In fact, I had it on the lowest you can go through the first dungeon. It was absolutely the most rediculous thing I'd ever seen. I literally couldn't see 10 feet in front of me, and things like walls would just pop in. It was so stupid. I'm pretty sure I really need more RAM. Graphics too, but I can't afford that now, so that will have to wait. But: I went in to Futureshop, just to look around at some new RAM, and he said since it was "DELL SAMSUNG DDR2 MEMORY 256mb 1Rx8 PC2-3200U-333-10-A1 " that I would have to buy it straight from Dell. From what I was able to view through the pitiful graphics (if you don't know what it might look like...I would say Morrowind on high settings would definately look better graphically (maybe not the animations), it seems to be a very graphic oriented game. I assume the first dungeon was to be something to show off the graphics engine, but I was able to see through it. This will also give me a clearer thought of the gameplay...I don't like it when people say they like a game just because of the graphics. Graphics is a part, but since I don't get them I'll only be able to concentrate on the gameplay. And I don't think the gameplay seems to be that life-changing. :\. But I'll need to play more tonight, and then hopefully get this RAM thing sorted out.

Brocolli is good IN stuff, but raw brocolli is one of the most disgusting things you can eat. It tastes like dirt/leaves.

Maybe if youd stop spending it on movies and unnecessary things you could go on one :P Lol, it would take years of not buying movies to afford a nice cruise. I think How2 would go wild.

Oblivion!
How good system? And since you have it today, that means it should be available when I go tommorow. Hopefully I won't have to go to EBgames to get it, which will be more expensive, more busy, and farther for me (than FutureShop).

Ordered and received. CD's and DVD's.
Last CD I bought was Who's Next by the Who. Last DVD I bought was The Professional. Both were under 10 bucks. I was extremely pleased.

Indy, are you ever going to change you're sig once the game is out? Or are you gonna leave it until the inevitable expansion is announced?

Well, I'm just now realising that newegg.com doesn't ship to Canada. So I reckon I'll check a local store or maybe tigerdirect.ca You think this would work?

That will run Oblivion. More RAM and it's almost recommended. I too have 2.8ghz, 512 RAM (upgrading to 1gb or more tho, prolly), and my graphics is Radeon X300 SE (128mb). So with more RAM it should make up for my barely minimum graphics card. And I don't need graphics to have fun, I'll most probably be on minimum.
