Well, it's 3 days or so away, so I reckon I would just bump this topic up so there'd be no need for a new one. But anyways, I've been scrambling to see if I need to upgrade (and with this, I've had to completely learn how to upgrade and what to get...), and I may have to get more RAM (see Tech and Computers). I'm probably going to get it, because almost all my friends are getting it first day, and will be talking about it from now (and for the past week or so) everyday for the next few months. I was gonna wait until the summer to upgrade+get this game and a few others (COD2 and F.E.A.R. will be great with a nice upgrade ;)), but I wanted to be included, and not feel like an outsider. Plus, I would be already tired of the game by the time I got it what with all the talk they'll be having all day every day. So it looks like I'll be getting it sometime this week. And it stinks cuz I wanted to play Morrowind first :\. Happy Oblivioning!
  2. Watched Jarhead. Heard lots of different things, and I knew going in that there was no battles so I wasn't set up for disappointment. I thought it was pretty good, but not particularly great. It kinda showed the boredom and insanity, but never really drove it's point home like some other powerful movies. It was pretty affecting, and the direction was excellent. Pretty good acting. Overall pretty good movie, but it wasn't amazing.
  3. The first one is 184 pin, the second 240. Wouldn't that pose a problem? And as for the second one, if I bought 2 512s, would I be able to keep my 512's in 2 slots, and then my 2 256's in the other 2 (thus having 1.5gb?) And Stuart G, the link you gave has many. Which were you refering to?
  4. Well, Oblivion's coming out soon, and I'm probably going to want to get more RAM (currently I have 512, I may upgrade to 1gb, or perhaps 1.5gb if possble). The problem is that I really don't know too much about the inner workings of a PC. So: First I will need to know what kind of RAM I need to get, that works as good as it can on my computer. I opened up my computer, and I have 4 slots (surprise!) and 2 of them have 1 stick each of 256mb (They were both in the white clipped slots, the manual says thats slots 1 and 2). I wrote down the code on it, and it said it was DELL SAMSUNG DDR2 MEMORY 256mb 1Rx8 PC2-3200U-333-10-A1 . I'm pretty sure it's 240pin if that means anything. So, on the suggestion on another forum I took a Best Buy Memory thing, which told me that any of these 3 would be good: Corsair Memory DDR2, 512MB, 533MHz, CL4 KBYTE 512MB DDR2 DIMM 533 (4200) Corsair Memory DDR2 256MB 533 MHz CL4 This says that I want 533MHz, but my RAM says its PC2-3200 (in the midst of that code) and newegg has no option for 533MHz and 3200 (it says when you search the options are "DDR2 533 (PC2 4200)" and "DDR2 400 (PC2 3200)". Now, since I've heard that if you have 2 different speeds it goes down, this confuses me that it would suggest something higher. Now, my next question is is there any other types that will work (I'm a noob, don't hurt me). Second, if I plan to upgrade from my 512 (256mb x 2) to 1gb, can you just get 1 stick of 512mb, or do you need 2 sticks of 256 (for balance? or something.) My manual also says not to install ECC memory. So after putting in the following search functions on newegg: Computer Hardware > Memory & Flash Memory > Memory - System > capacity : 512MB > type : 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM > Corsair Memory, Inc. > ecc : No (this assumes Corsair is the best) I came up with 3 different things seen here: http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductLi ... 59&Ntk=all However, I haven't got a clue how these differ or why their costs differ by almost 20 bucks. This also assumes newegg is the best place to buy stuff (is it?) So why this may seem like an idiotic and overly long post, could someone just help me cuz I'm stoopud? I may have other questions later. Thanks in advance. OH yeah, and whatever RAM I get (2x 256, or 2x 512, or 1x 512 or 1x 1gb) what slots do I put it in.
  5. Seriously though, what did you expect?
  6. I've seen that before...I don't see how it's cynical really...With quotes like "Can't we all just get along?"...Man that guy see's the worst in everything. And it seems sloppy, it's jumbled quotes and clips in no particular order...And then it goes to space and then I get confused and then...Yeah.
  7. Two movies today, one tommorow. First I watched The Negotiator. It's always on TV, but I've never seen it. I thought it was quite a good thriller. Sammy L was surprisingly excellent, and Kevin Spacey was quite good (obviously he wasn't at is best, but the role didn't call for it). Both did quite well, and Paul Giamatti added something aswell ;). I thought it was quite good, quite gripping. Excellent thriller. Then I rewatched Walk the Line. Seen it before, so it wasn't as surprising or engrossing because I knew what happened...Pretty good music though, but it definately loses something the second time. Tommorow is Jarhead, then sometime midweek will be Amelie. Better be good ;).
  8. Most guys just watch it so that they have something to talk about with the girlies. And the rest - I didn't have to read the post, I already agreed. But I did read it ;0.
  9. It doesn't really remind of the LOTR movies, cuz they had a wide variety of original score, but I knew I had heard it before. Yea, but I don't hear it in LoTR, not even at the parts you say it should be that's why I don't see why you say you think you heard it before. I'm not crazy. But today, I watched City of God. I really wish I knew Portuguese. The subtitles came so fast and so often it was difficult for me to keep an eye on the action and the cinematography/direction and overall difficult to watch the movie period. There is a lot of dialogue and narration that all comes really fast, I actually had to rewind like half a dozen times because I missed what was going on. But that's hardly the films fault. From what I was able to see, I was very impressed. I didn't know Brazil had such talented movie-makers (well, I actually saw Constant Gardner before I saw this, so I figured the direction would be pretty good.) It all seemed to fit just right. It had plenty of action (shame I couldn't watch most of it) and the many different stories moved with amazing fluency...It was excellent transitions fit with flashbacks and differing time frames. The characters were pretty good but there was definately far too many to keep track of. You could never really get as attached as you normally do to a character, because even the main character Rocket seemed to have little face time. I understand that it wasn't that kind of movie, but I couldn't ever learn too much about the depth of the characters. For what it did have though, the character development was pretty good. There was also lots of twists that came with the differing points of view and the changes in time. I thought this was a really well written movie, and really well done. I will probably have to watch it again at some point in the future, but I will have to keep my eyes on the screen, instead of the words. The also had a very well realised view of the ghetto, and it really gets to you how crazy it is. Spoiler? Then when it turns out it was a true story it all just ended out perfect. Definately glad they saved that for the end. But definately a very good movie, perhaps my favourite foreign film I've seen (which is few). A position in my top 100 fo' sho', though imdb's rank of 13 or whatever may be a little high. EDIT-Oh yeah, and further, the Blockbuster lady didn't want to let me rent this, because it was rated R (even tho my mom was right there) and she ranted about how violent and gory and disturbing it was. Sure, there was lots of warring and violence, but this was done very tastefully with minimul of blood and gore.
  10. LOL. I didn't even have to open it. As soon as you said turn the volume up I'm like "Wow, terrible" Don't click the link it's one of those stupid screaming things!

What he said ^. Of course they will, but this guy got his guns legally. It would at least slow down potential criminals and dangerous people...

  13. That's what I said. But watch the first trailer here: http://movies.yahoo.com/movie/1804738128/trailer About a minute in it starts. I'm pretty sure it's just the trailer that its in though, I may be wrong again. So anyways, I watched my 2 hours documentary on T.E. Lawrence...entitled "Lawrence of Arabia: The Battle for the Arab World". As documentaries go it was pretty good. I was really inpressed by how much he was able to do in his life, and this documentary showed that, but also showed that he was still just a man, and that was all he really wanted to be (though he did at times want to be a hero). I kinda wanna see the movie now, except that I know more than I should. There won't be any surprise, but I didn't want to waste the 5 bucks I spent ;). It also might be good cuz I'll actually understand what's going on, and I'll see how historically accurate it is...But sometimes knowledge is a curse.

Sides? Kidney stones! Please explain. Alley_Oops, what is a Chiropracter? Therapist or something? Thanks. :) I'm going to see the doctor first time in the morning tomorrow. Kidney stones are calcium buildups in the kidneys...They can cause a lot of pain in the lower-middle back, on either side of the spine. They may be moving in their (assuming you have them, which is probably not too likely [but possible]) and can cause a lot of pain. I had some when I was younger, and they got to the point where the pain caused me to vomit, and no one knew why. I'm just putting a possibilty out there...But if it's not the spine it could be your muscles or your kidneys.
  15. Oh, it's necessary. He's telling us something I've never heard before!

  17. I said small type, not white type...People have different forum setups and they can see white type..Wouldn't want to ruin the fun would you?
  18. Here's a brain teaser that I found on a different forum. I don't really believe that Einstein made it...But I donno. I don't think it's been posted in the last while, since I frequent this place daily and I can't recall it. It's a pretty interesting puzzle. It's DEFINATELY doable, I did it. It took a while, and it's kinda tricky, but you can definately do it. Lastly, don't google, and don't post a visible answer (veryvery small type if you post answers please). Good luck! Hmmm, I'm just now realising that I did it where Bluemasters was replaced with Camel, and Princes was replaced with Marlboro...But that doesn't change the puzzle anyway.
  19. First, why don't you like San Andreas? Second, there is context in GTA, especially San Andreas. You're trying to fight police corruption and find out what really happened to your mom. And to a lesser extent clean up your old neighborhood that's been run over by drug dealers. I liked GTA3 because Ive grown up with movies like Scarface and the Godfather and other Mafia movies. In fact, I managed to make it through the game without killing any innocent civilians. Why not San Andreas? First: Hot Coffee. Sorry, but if you remove content from your game, you should delete it instead of just putting a variable to lock it. Second, I don't like the gang war thing. In other GTA games, you knew that your enemies had bloody hands. In San Andreas, you just go beat the crap out of random gang members who don't even know you. Its really just personal opinion. Now, for those people who just run around picking up * and killing them for cash for fun, that's not cool at all. So you don't like a game...because of content you don't have to do at all...Hot Coffee you have to go way out of your way to get, (and they have new versions of the game w/out it). and Second, in Vice City there's tonnes of random gang fights (example, go through Little Haiti, everyone shoots at you) and GTA, go through Mafia town, they shoot at you. There's so much more to the game thenall this stuff...

Yea, I don't ever lie about something that would hurt someone. The majority of the time I lie is just to make it easier...Like, someone will ask me a question and instead of saying "No" and explaining myself for 30 seconds, I just say "Yes" or "Sure" and carry on. I don't really lie real hard though. I'm often accused of lieing (once a day atleast) when I tell a story. Normally it's a story I hear on a news website (namely msnbc.com) or about a fact I find on wikipedia.
  21. Why if you think it's best don't you know what to do? And since you have a day you could perhaps, elaborate? And further...you have a day, don't ask a bunch of people on forums who think they know more than they do. Ask someone who knows something about this sort of this (guidance counsillor or similar).

Agreed. :D Even better when he does it backwards ^_^ Is that the same guy as what did "Imagine" on the piano, back to the piano (and stepping on all the footpeddles still) and he even stuck in the notes for the lyrics aswell. I was alarmed to see that. That kid was insane! Not the Tip.it one.... Lol, I gotta see the pianist video!! Insane kid! ~komodo Here's the link to the videogame/blindfolded pianist (same person, apparently), playing Imagine w/ lyrics and backwords. But watch for possibly inappropriate ads. http://thatvideosite.com/view/124.html
  23. Well, most strange day in movies for me. I woke up at about 10 (first day of March break, yipee!), and headed over to blockbuster. I picked up City of God (or Cidade de Deus as others call it), they had 3 copies, so I was pretty happy. I next looked for Oldboy (as Indy500fan and How2PK seemed to like it, yes?), but they didn't have it at all. I also looked for a few other old ones, to no avail. They also didn't have Walk the Line (which I've seen but intend to rent) or Jarhead in. Make me sad. They didn't really have too too much there. So I headed to the next closest Blockbuster and had a look. I don't think they even had a Foreign movie section there, so that was pretty useless. So I figured I'd pick up Lawrence of Arabia! So I take my two movies home (and my mommy got 2 movie for my dad that I don't want to see), and put in Requiem for a Dream, which I got last week. For anyone who knows this movie well, or has seen it even, you may know what I'm talking about. I put it in, and a fuzzy looking infomercial shows up. So I figured my DVD player wasn't plugged in right, or it was broken. After fiddling with buttons for a while, I took it out and ran it under hot water and cleaned it off. Back in - same infomercial. :(. I started to get angry, because I've had bad luck with Blockbuster in the past. So I tried a different movie to see if it was the DVD player. It wasn't. It was about this time I looked in my pile of DVD rentals and realised that I had picked up this: http://imdb.com/title/tt0384277/ instead of http://imdb.com/title/tt0056172/ So at this point I was fuming mad, as it didn't seem like Requiem was working, and I picked up the wrong movie! (In my defence, I didn't think there would be more than one Lawrence of Arabia there (there was no other one in site) AND it was in the middle of the drama section ( :( ). But after some time of being angry, I put Requiem back in, and the same damned infomercial was on. So this is the point where I was like "What the hell, what is this infomercial anyway?" and after I waited it took me to an infomericla buying screen, and I saw "Play Movie" on it, and I was like "omg, I'm handicapped". All in all, it took an hour :? . ... So, as for how the movie was. I reckon it was a directorish film. There wasn't too much amazing about it, but the direction was pretty much excellent throughout. I also found that Jared Leto's mother in the film was really exceptional, just really, really good all the way through. I liked it pretty well, Marlon Wayans was pretty dang good whodathunkit, and the other two leads did their job (Leto and Connelly). It wasn't really too disturbing, and it was downright comic at times (like when the walls open up and shes having a vision, and the fridge tries to eat her, I almost loled, but I don't really laugh much, especially when I'm alone). It wasn't as good as some people say, but it was pretty good. I didn't feel as affected as I did in American History X (not even close). It was just a pretty good movie. And where's the score from? I know I've heard it somewhere, and I don't really know. My dad says LOTR, but I'm still not sure, and it doesn't make sence that it would be really. Can anyone help?EDIT-Yep, it was in Two Towers I found out. AMAZING score. So...It looks like this week I'll be watching City of God and....http://imdb.com/title/tt0384277/ :? . Also, for anyone who has seen Lawrence of Arabia, is the plot a big part of it with lots of twists and/or is the ending important (ie. someone dies or something) I don't really want to ruin the movie, and I'm 100% unaware of T.E. Lawrence's adventures...So do you guys think it will take anything away from the movie watching a documentary first? (I plan on seeing the real one at some point soon). And I don't wanna waste the 5 bucks I spent renting it...I might as well watch it since I'm kinda a history buff.
