  1. he just doesn't want you to use too much more money on a model that isn't *that* much better then the previous one. I would probaly suggest the same as him. ATI X1600 128Mb $289.00 That one doesn't look that bad either for it's price, although not sure 'how' much better than a 7600GT it is. Although, just to warn you (even though it may not be a problem in a future) but some people who had 7600GT/7800GT's were having some problems with Oblivion. (which, I asume is one of the reasons for the upgrade right?) :) One of them. I can already play Oblivion on good frame rates (low settings). It might be nice to see what it looks like that good...But really, I'm getting kind of bored with it, and I'd like to have my computer optimized, since I probably won't be able to get a new one for a LONG time... And thanks for the input guys. I already vaugely considered an X1600 (I sorta looked at it and said "That's as good as I need or better..."
  2. I really can't believe we spent three pages debating this...
  3. How much do prices change in a few months? And they just came out with new models didnt' they?...And militaris, why do you suggest the cheaper? (other than obviously the price?) Will a real good one not run right on my computer?
  4. Is there any problems with switching from ATI to nVidia? Such as it not fitting 8|? Or is there any way it might, I dunno...Just, is there any downfalls from switching graphics card makes? And those are amazing deals...Too bad they're in American dollars, and they won't ship here. Is ATI or nVidia normally more cost effective? Just in general.
  5. Well, none until I have a job ;). But in a few months...200-300 hopefully, perhaps slightly more if it will give me a big bonus...I'm not looking for like, the best card out there, just one that will run current stuff fairly well...Anywhere under 400 is best if it's really good...Oh yeah, and I can't buy off of newegg (don't ship to Canada)
  6. As long as there's still a way I can keep playing my PC games (I hope they never make it so that current and somewhat old games are unplayable on future computers, and I hope that they keep putting CD drives (or anything that can run a CD) forever, or that you can get an external drives.) I've decided that there now exists enough computer games to keep anyone happy for a lifetime...I have enough that if I got...Maybe 10-15 more that I've had my eye on for a while (F.E.A.R., COD2, Tron 2.0, Clive Barker's Undying, Alice, Neverwinter Nights, Morrowwind, Splinter Cell Chaos Theory, NOLF1 (maybe), among others) I would be able to keep my mind occupied for the rest of my life. Of course, it would be nice to see what happens to franchises such as Half-Life, Max Payne and Grand Theft Auto... If that post made any sence to you...YOUR WINNER.
  7. Motherboard: CPU Type Intel Pentium 4 520, 2800 MHz (14 x 200) Motherboard Name Dell Dimension 4700 Motherboard Chipset Intel Grantsdale-G i915G System Memory 1536 MB (DDR2-400 DDR2 SDRAM) BIOS Type Phoenix (08/23/04) Communication Port Communications Port (COM1) Communication Port ECP Printer Port (LPT1) Display: Video Adapter RADEON X300/X550 Series Secondary (128 MB) Video Adapter RADEON X300/X550 Series (128 MB) 3D Accelerator ATI Radeon X300 (RV370) Monitor Dell M993s [19" CRT] (X37584A4BG6U) Now, I might not know anything about computers, but based on reading through the rest of the thing, I think, it's PCI-e (assuming PCI-E means PCI-Express)
  8. I went all the way out west and never went to it...Kinda a shame in hindsight. I don't even really care about the amusement park and all that, the things as big as a small town :). I bet I could have got some nice st00f there.
  9. If I'm ever listening to an album, I refuse to even start it if I don't have enough time to get through the whole album with no interuptions. It drives me insane to get interupted in the middle of an experience that great. I also turn it up to as loud as it goes, both to drown out all outside noise, and so I can hear every single little detail, every drum beat, and every single note. If anyones listening to Pink Floyd on an iPod, they're seriously missing something (unless you're listening to it at home). I can't even imagine listening to Floyd on an mp3 player while walking around a noisy town. I'd probably go insane.
  10. Well, in a few months, I'm going to be upgrading my graphics card. I currently have an ATI RADEON x300SE. I've downloaded and run "EVEREST" as per Militaris suggestion, but there's gotta be 5000 lines of info that I obviously am getting lost in. What I need to know is where to check what type of graphics card I have, and then with that, I want to know what it is possible to upgrade to with my current system. Just incase, here's my specs. Dell Dimension 4700 Intel Pentium 4 520, 2800 MHz 1.5gb of RAM ATI Radeon x300SE (128mb) Thanks.
  11. I drew a little Max Payne. "YOUR WINNER" if you can find it. BTW, it's not one of the good ones in the bottom right. I just needed to use some ink.
  12. Same (well, I still do have it) but I was too into Warcraft 3 at the time to play it much.
  13. Watched Capote. It was incredibly well put together, in all means. The acting was some of the best I've ever seen (especially if you view the special features after, with stock footage of the real Capote). Hoffman was the role. It was as though he wasn't even acting. It was so perfectly casted it was scary. And if you can believe someone else actually held his own in the scenes with Hoffman, Clifton Collins Jr. was equally incredible...It was one of the most moving performances I've ever seen. It angers me to no end that William Hurt was nominated for his unimpressive >5 minutes in A History of Violence for best supporting actor, and a stunning performance was completely overlooked. A great misfortune. I just hope to see more from Clifton Collins Jr. in the future. It was amazingly well directed and cinematographized (that should be a word). It was dark, and cold, and it didn't even seem like these could be actual human beings. And it was amazing. Definately one of the best movies of last year. If you have any appreciation of drama movies, excellent acting or directing, independant films or finely crafted stories, this is a definite recommend.
  14. It is unlikely his motherboard will support PCI-E... maybe, but the ATI x300 series were dominantly PCI-E cards. So there is a slight chance that his one is AGP. 1. How do I check. 2. If most were PCI-E, then why would mine be AGP? 3. Is PCI-E good or bad?
  15. you could easily understand what was going on by just watching it. but why not watch the others too :P ? if you like westerns they are great, if you dont (like me) they are about the only westerns youll like (once upon a time in the west, and a few others are good) I wouldn't bet on seeing the other two at Blockbuster. Maybe I'll watch good bad and ugly then see about getting the other two. Anyways, this week I have "Capote" (in a few mins) and then mid-next week is "Following".
  16. 2.8GHz processor 1.5gb Ram 128 mb ATI x300SE graphics card Do you guys think if I got a better graphics card (perhaps, a 300 dollar one), that my comp will last me for a few years, and be able to play the minimum requirement games? (Such as, for example, a Warcraft 4, or a Diable 3 came out, would I possibly be able to run it?) I know you guys obviously won't know specs of future games, but is the general trend still multiplying fast? I ask because I'll be going to University probably after next year, and I want to be able to get through and still be able to play some games...Obviously, I will have to wait til I'm out of university to buy a whole new rig, at which point I'll hopefully get all the bells and whistles, and get all the big-requirement games I'd been missing. I might also stack up on all the big-name games that come out during that time, even if I can't play them (I enjoy the collection aspect near as much as the playing aspect). Well, that passed some time. If the answer to my question (now lost in a sea of meaningless ramble) is no, then what do you think I should do to max my rig at a minimal cost (is it easy to get a new processor?)
  17. I don't believe that.
  18. Do you have to watch them all to understand them? Or would I be able to watch The Good, The Bad and the Ugly and still get what was going on?
  19. I was thinking about going to a David Gilmour concert. No money though. I had the change to pay only 150 bucks for seats at the back. Oh joy...Plus I would have needed to find a way to get to Toronto.
  20. "You reach around for something really crusty... " HAHAHAHAHAHA. "Ghandi sits at the dining room table passed out next to a gigantic empty bowl of beans." Huh? Final score: 85 :\ I died when my rear end ate my hand, and I cut off my hand because of it. :\ This game owns. What other game can you do that in? "at one point you laughed so hard you farted, which wouldn't have been so bad except that it had come right as Merv was saying "I do". The priest had to repeat the question, but other than that, things went smoothly. " zomg.
  21. Obviously Gilmour. I prefer Saucerful of Secrets to Piper. And most of the one's that followed are better. What's everyone's least favorite album? I'd say mine's probably a Momentary Lapse of Reason...But I don't really know The Final Cut or UmmaGumma that well...I mean, I've heard them both, but not near as many times as any of the other albums.
  22. I wish I could leave. But I've been living like this for too long. Oh yeah, and what was your name on scapeboard if you had one? Oh yeah, and bye.
  23. You're always getting in crazy adventures. How I admire thee.

I was going to say no until I read this. Now I don't know. See that occured to me as well, but it just started addign all these weird problems. For instance, you know you can't die, so you jump from a plane at 35000 feet. Without a parachute. Over the biggest bed of [bleep]es ever created by mankind. (seriously this thing is huge :P ). How do you live after that fall and subsequent implalation (actually a word? :? ). It would defeat some of the laws of physics or nature or what have you. Simply put, what happens if you try and commit suicide 10 years before you're supposed to die? Does the gun fail everytime you pull the trigger? I guess it just doesn't work if you think about it this way. And I need to soak my head now cause that got really confusing really fast :D Anyway, barring the above weirdness, I would definitly prefer to not know. That little lingering thought in the back of your mind would suck. Kinda like a really bad test except more so 8) Wind, or fate (whatever you choose), would probably guide you away from the [bleep]es and have u land on something that would destroy all your bones and most of your organs, and you'd live your days out as a vegetable. You'd be alive wouldn't you? It would be a terrible existance, but you'd be living.

In knowing you will ultimately change reality. So if I knew that I was going to die tommorow, I would stay home, and hopefully avoid dieing. Unless it was the fate that staying home would get me killed, and it assumed that I was knowing and that I'd know to stay home. Hmmm. Yes, I'd probably rather be die when I die (ie. not know).
