  1. Before: You hit 2 hits, with around the same damage as your most recent regular hit E.G. I hit 25, then the spec will hit a 23-27, then another 23-27
  2. Why doesn't anyone ever use rune equipment while maging? I did some research for some common mage alternatives. Note that I'm talking mostly about Soloing. Underline = cost Bold = magic attack bonus Italic = defense (+stab +slash +crush +range) Please note that calculations are not 100% accurate. The inaccuracy, however, is neglible (+/- 5) Here is the typical magic set. Helm: Farseer helm Body: Mystic top Legs: Mystic bottom Gloves: Rune gloves (usu. mystic, but rune gloves are better) Boots: Mystic boots Shield: Zammy book Weapon: Ancient's staff Amulet: Magic amulet (+6 +6 +6 +6 is not worth 60k (for glory)) Cape: God cape 400K (+zam book cost) / +91 / +16 +18 +20 +8 Alternative 1) Using a rune kite instead of zammy book: 450K / +73 / +60 +66 +66 +54 Notes: Decent protection against Melee and Range. Melee you shouldn't worry about though, as you just entangle. Range is mage's biggest problem, and +54 is definitely going to be helpful PKing. Downside is the -17 mage attack compared to the typical set, but I would sacrifice this small bonus for the large +54 range. Alternative 2) Using a rune medium instead of farseer: 400K (+zam book cost) / +84 / +30 +31 +29 +22 Notes: Your mage attack bonus remains basically untouched, and you still have some (albeit small) defense against Range. You will also look like a noob. Alternative 3) Using rune chain instead of mystic top: 350K (+zam book cost) / +56 / +79 +90 +98 +73 Notes: I would say this is one of the best sets for mages to PK in. Your +73 Range defense is QUITE a substantial bonus. Your magic attack bonus still remains relatively high (you will still own rune full any day, and will still have the same troubles against dragonhide). Alternative 4) Using rune kite and rune medium instead of zammy book and farseer: 400K / +66 / +72 +79 +75 +76 Notes: Basically same as Alt 3). You get -10 magic attack, but +7 +11 +23 +3 defense. In addition, it's roughly 50K cheaper. Sets 1) and 2): No longer defenseless! The small difference in mage attack bonus is definitely worth the extra Range defense while PKing. I hope to see this kind of thing more often! Sets 3) and 4): Comparison to Ahrim I think I could say that these sets hold their own against Ahrim, while PKing. For one thing, Ahrim is 1.5M+, and losing it easily dents almost any bank. Secondly, Ahrim's defenses are geared towards Melee. And Melee defense, as I mentioned before, isn't nearly as useful as Range. You can freeze/entangle meleers, and, as you should know by heart, Range is Mage's weakness. This ~+75 range defense bonus could quite easily be the difference between life and death. Basically, the only clear advantage of Ahrim is the large magic attack bonus, and I doubt that this bonus outweighs the Range defense and the cost difference. Good luck :D
  3. Santas chronically fall at christmas. Much. If White Party hat jumps, it will jump 20-40M at a time. If Santas jump, they will Rare price growth isn't linear - it consists of jagged ups and flats. Occassional downs. I doubt people would dupe Red Masks instead of Blue Hats.
  4. By the time I see 10 party hats, I normally see about 50 smaller rares. You wear party hat for the status. If you see a guy wearing a blue (which hopefully I will have, eventually), it's like  If would never wear a party hat for looks. For that I look to mr. black cav. :D Smaller rares will never be higher than party hats.
  5. Currently I have 7x Santa 1x Mask set 1x Red mask 1) Should I trade 7x Santa + 1x Mask set (285-295m, about 5-10m below a/w prices) for a White Party Hat? (I'm looking for short term) 2) How do you predict a mini-rare increase? (What are patterns when Santas will jump?) 3) How do you predict party hat increase? (What are patterns when PHats will jump?) Thanks. This is a hard topic to answer, but all advice is extremely appreciated.
  6. You vengance before Jad even comes out. So JUST in case you ever get hit, that's what happens. You don't worry about it WHILE you're fighting. It's also useful against Dharoker's, basically guarentees that they'll die if they hit one of those 60's on you. Most people use 100% range while Caving. So if you're going that way, there's at least some use for your magic.
  7. :-s i can get around 100-125 lobs per hour at 66 fishing. You misquoted me! I can grammar, darn it! I meant 250, btw.
  8. 1) How much xp per hour? 2) Can you do it while going on forums/with not 100% (e.g. PC-level) concentration? 3) Food cost? 4) How long before these guys do ~50 damage?
  9. Mainly because it's level 94 magic to use. I don't know if most people going in there are that high of a level actually I thought 94 was pretty common, considering the IBarrage incentive... Anyway it at least should be mentioned on some guide, for the 94+ to use.
  10. Can you damage more than 9 people at a time with Ancients spells? i.e. if you have 2 people in each square in the 3x3 sq, does it hit all 18? If you can only hit 9 people total, ------How does RS choose which to hit?
  11. Why don't people ever use Vengance against Jad? Vengance, part of the Lunar SpellBook, returns a "large percentage" of the damage dealt to you, the next time you get hit. So put it on right before Jad, and if he hits you, then that's an extra 70-80 damage on Jad! Is it just not worth the space? In which case you can just use it more often on previous monsters.
  12. The MOST important difference between real life and RuneScape is that you can draw your face with three lines in RS.
  13. Yes, I meant 250 700 an hour seems way too much  Maybe I'm too used to F2P speeds.
  14. Are randoms possible at CW? If no, ---what if the standard-bearer gets teled away?  (That would be just amazing). If yes, ---why not high alch at CW? ------no randoms. ------free CW tickets! ------(possibly) watch noobs get owned.
  15. Mine 3, drop 3. No way to drop them as a group. Get a noob to trade all your ores. But this noob better be pretty CONSISTENT.
  16. So then 90 for all. The details really don't matter, it's the concept.
  17. Someone once told me I was a noob because I had 300M :D
  18. One thing I haven't tried [this is totally an IDEA] - use blood spells. It's going to be crazy expensive. And it probably doesn't work at all (it would have been suggested already) But it's the equivalent of meleeing with Guthan's, just without melee. (You drain 25% of the damage you do with the spell)
  19. You will have no trouble beating the caves, just follow a guide in the Archive of Wisdom.
  20. Trout and salmon are more tedious (dropping) You will almost always get more trout than you will salmon. Thus I prefer willows.
  21. This is a very high estimate: 500 lobs per hour. At 65 fishing you will probably do something more like 250 lobs per hour. 50000/500 = 100 hours 100 hours / 4 hours/day = at least 25 days. IF YOU WANT THE XP, DO FLY FISHING. IF YOU WANT THE MONEY, DO LAW/NAT RUNNING OR ABYSSING.
  22. 1) Darklight special. ============== Special 50% 2) DDS special x 2 =============== Special 0% 3) Wait 5/4 minutes (whip time)======= Special 25% 4) DDS special ================= Special 0% 5) Repeat steps 3 and 4, 3 times. 6) Wait 5/2 minutes (whip time)======= Special 50% 7) Darklight special ============== Special 0% 8) Repeat.
  23. Air -PKing, dueling, castle wars (because you want flexibility in the types of spells you're using) -Training (depends on spell) Fire -Alching -Training (depends on spell) -Sometimes used in PKing. Otherwise, they're completely equal in stats. My advice: Buy 1-2 Air MysBattles (50k - 100k). Buy 2 Fire Regular staffs (3k). And you're set.
  24. Choices 1) Buy your steel plates for more. __________________________________________________________ The major item alched for P2P is yew longs. Long cost: 500 - 550 Rune cost: 300 - 350 Total cost: 800 - 900 Alch value: 780 Total lost: 20 - 120 So in some cases, even p2p have to pay 120 gp to alch. So just be willing to buy your plates for 1k ea. _________________________________________________________ 2) Alch Green DHide sets. _________________________________________________________ (I don't know if this works, at all!) It's an idea though. Just buy sets from crafters for near the alch values. Make it so that it makes sense for them to sell to you (i.e. buy for -200 or -250 of the alch value). _________________________________________________________
  25. Most of the details are supposed to be mysteries. For example, the combat level formula. If I was writing an explanation, I would have included. But in-game, Jagex wouldn't. No, it doesn't make sense to be tradable. It's like an UBER fire cape.
