Sometimes I actually do that.... Really as I slowly work to 85 dung and my first chaotic i'm wondering if i should get a crapier or a ccrossbow. I would most likley use the cbow for arma or the crapier for slayer. I'm leaning to the rapier even though i don't have 80 attack yet. Any advice? Rapier, mainly because it has a lot more uses and is harder to lose. Cbow has a really low protect value. Anyway, I'm on my 4th chaotic and I'm still trying to decide between: CSTAFF CLS FKS CKS Suggestions? I'll most likely get staff. I already have rapier/maul/cbow

I would say mediums. Get Gorg 2h.

One other point to bring up I think is that bosses are too easy now. You can stay at most bosses for at least two hours. If Jagex introduces a boss in which you can't stay as long, maybe there won't be as much competition. A way to implement this is to have a boss which requires you to mage. If you have to rely on magic, you can't use brews; if you can't use brews, you don't last long.
-
In other words, instanced bosses - which, sorry to say, has been mentioned earlier multiple times

This is actually probably one area where class-based games such as WoW have an edge over RS. Everyone's pretty much going for the same goals.

While I am partially responsible for someone else's reaction to me, I am not responsible for the actions they choose to partake in because of those reactions. For example, if I annoy someone, and as a result they shoot someone else out of rageit, should I be punished for the shooting? By law, no. Also, crashing things like PC I agree is bad - but the relevance to monster hunting is really quite small. To connect the two is, as I pointed out, a slippery slope.
-
Like I said, I think this is unnecessarily self-sacrificing. I mean, there's nothing wrong with doing it, but it's just not behavior that economics would call rational And whether or not we label it as "entitlement" or not bears little relevance to the actual validity of the action. Putting labels on things doesn't really change the moral validity of them

Quoted for irony Again, instead of resorting to personal attacks, present a logical argument. That way we can reasonably and fairly assess your statement.
-
You can't just disregard the luxury goods market, but that's off topic. I'm really confused . That argument could go both ways haha... to your EDIT: what about people that don't share and aren't rude about it? what's wrong with not sharing? regardless of if we think it's "entitlement" or not, the thoughts matter less than the actions themselves
-
I mean... are you going to argue it's unfair that phats were 30K back in the day?
-
I would agree in that scenario. Trees are easy to find so there's little to no economic incentive to crashing someone - only a psychological one of bullying. Also, a level 99 WC and a level 90 WCer basically have access to the same capital, so there's very little that makes one more qualified than another. This is why monster hunting is an exception. Gear and levels actually make it more efficient for one person to use a spot rather than another. Also, monster hunting locations are typically much more crowded. I'm not saying you should be mean in all situations. I am, however, saying that there's no need to be self-sacrificing.

 Oh, gov. I agree with you that there are better alternative ways to making money. However, that doesn't mean that someone shouldn't or can't make money a slower, perhaps more inefficient way, does it? Why not? There's no reason I should sacrifice my own preferences just so that some random stranger - regardless of level - can have the convenience of choosing between bad and worse options. Obviously this would differ for people I know in real life.
-
An ego, and a false sense of entitlement. I don't know why would assume that someone hasn't worked as hard as you for their equipment or levels just because they are different or lower than yours. That solo mage that you have no qualms about crashing has probably been working his butt off to get to the point that they're at, and by boss hunting they are clearly trying to gain better stats, equipment, or the cash to help with both. You've ranted about people who aren't working to acheive stats like yours, but by crashing them you are denying them the chance to do the very thing you say they should be doing. How can any "low-level" person be expected to train their character up if other, more arrogant players don't allow them the space to? This point was addressed a lot earlier in the thread. There are a lot of better alternative money makers - some which even train stats - for lower levels. Furthermore, much of the equipment and gear you need is pretty easily obtainable without large sums of cash. "Good" gear such as Bandos, Spirit Shields, and Armadyl are actually unnecessary in many situations. A good way to train and get money is slayer - it gives you combat xp, summoning xp, and cash that you can eventually put into prayer. Herblore can be trained for a profit using weapon poison ++, with reasonable profit and low attention needed. Alternatively you could get good at reselling cleaned herbs for high xp an hour and profit. This is really just a reflection of lack of research rather than inability.

Oddly, this person's pretentious, condescending patronization is far more rude, impolite, and annoying than dealing with a polite crasher... I mean really - getting crashed is actually not that bad if the person doesn't flame you for it. I don't mind hopping if I have to. Citing plato etc. is kind of laffable. it doesn't make you look smart.

We don't need any more chaotic weapons, especially melee weapons. what we desperately need is defense. ANYWAY OT i was thinking that chaotic kiteshield might be better than or as good as ely for a ranger versus ranger battle. thoughts? CKS is +30 points over ely, which is anywhere from 5-10% damage reduction. Plus probably about 5% damage soak. likewise, eagle eye kite / spec might be better than ely for ranger vs mage... 30 mage defense points is a LOT.

ideally yes. but the only realistic solutions to this issue, which we have already discussed, involve changing game mechanics, and jagex is highly unlikely to do so or care. Your mother never taught you "sharing"? she did. then my dad taught me to think as well. OT: to expect everyone to share is just unrealistic in this situation. why don't we all share houses, for example?

If you're so selfless, why do you have a problem with giving up a spot to a crasher? Practice what you preach and whatnot? I always offer to share the spot. ALWAYS. :shame: then you're just a tool who society takes advantage of

Ok -- I LOL'd at "universally accepted morals". Morality has nothing to do with this. It's about consideration of your social environment. It's about learning how and why you need to interact with other people. What you're purporting is akin to saying that it is far better to look out only for yourself than to consider the quality of life of everyone involved. It is precisely THAT kind of thinking that creates the societal woes we have today. No one bothers looking out for anyone else. No one gives a damn about improving OTHER people's quality of life. All that matters is that they get that item they want, and then piss on the rest of world in the process. Honestly -- when is society going to learn that we cannot crap all over each other all the time and expect our civilization to move forward? morality = how society accepts your actions. is it not? in this case we are really discussing a matter of societal expectations and therefore morality. and no. the "societal woes" we have today are not due to just one line of thought. that's kind of simple minded to think so... in fact, it's kind of annoying that you think that, as a random person over the internet, you have so easily and simply deciphered how to improve our civilization in general, most people do care about others. when you reward someone for caring about others, they are very glad to help. this is why we have morals in the first place. society needs a system of rewarding people for helping others. we act together in order to mutually benefit each other. however, there are situations in which the accepted moral standard bears little relevance to the situation, or in fact does not help the society. an example of this is crashing. the accepted moral standard is "first come first serve", but when the setting is so full there is never really a "first to come", you just end up essentially waiting in line forever. this is not fair to you, and there is no particular reason why you should wait instead of another person. in addiition, having the strongest person win the spots is in one way societally beneficial because it increases the supply of useful items coming into the game.
-
people tend to care most about situations that are relevant to them. this isn't selfish, it's just how people operate. look at your own example: you're probably like one in 1000 players who have this problem, yet you still generalize this issue to other people. not to be rude, but you (and others) should really start qualifying accepted truths. stupidity in numbers is still stupidity.
-
My immediate impression is that jagex is pretty pathetic for suggesting this...
-
Umm.. not really. You can beat people who are higher leveled and better geared than you. But that deals more with skill and timing and a lot less with internet connection. Unless you have like dial up or something.
-
don't sell anything through ge. keep your fortune. herb and pray are only about 250-300M together. it's pretty easy to make that much now. I make over 3M an hour at dk's.
-
For tribrid/2.5ing: Arc, definitely. People tend to ignore magic attack bonus on rex but it's actually pretty important. You do miss a significant portion of the time if you have a negative bonus. You're also praying mage most of the time so there's no need for mage defense. Another trick of the trade: use bandos top instead of barrows top, as it offers 15 less magic attack penalty and has the same ranged defense, as well as prayer. For solo: Spec, because soloing is more about durability than killrate Bringing both is ridiculous and unnecessary risk.
