  1. I think they're also tradeable. I think I have one in my bank and I never played gnomeball. They are equipable.
  2. It is worth noting that the decline in whip prices is not terminal. They may keep dropping for a while, even under 1mil, however, at some point they will level out. This point will be when the number of people wanting whips and the number supplying them evens out. The fact that whips are still a rare drop and have a very high skill requirement to collect has slowed the price decline, it will also keep the equilibrium price of whips at a reasonable level but what that level is no-one can say, that will depend on how good people consider them to be compared to other weapons.
  3. Range it. If you do use zammy flames remember to turn auto retaliate off otherwise your character will try and melee it every time it attacks. Range is a really easy option at any level almost. 50+ and you'll be fine.
  4. To be honest there doesn't seem to be much challenge in rc pking. It seems a bit like training as a kickboxer then going to your local primary school and pushing children over. RCers often don't look down on abby pkers but the pking community don't seem to think very much of them. Mostly I see them getting burned on the PKing boards. People there always like to see a PKed abby PKer. Have to say I'm an rcer and not a pker but pkers have never really bothered me. It seems like a boring life though.
  5. I guess you are referring to me here so I'll continue. What darkmage actually asked was the same as I am asking below, which is: what does this have to do with religion? He did not ask which facts people select when justifying a prejudice against muslims. He asked why religion is an issue in this instance. There are any number of reasons why some people dislike the muslim faith (justified or not), none of these reasons are pertinient in the Thai coup. -- Why did the red car crash? Some people don't like red cars because... -- see no correlation. No they aren't. These were individuals operating on their own motivations. You cannot ascribe the actions of a few to beliefs of the many. You might as well say 'this man is violent therefore all men are violent' or 'this car is red therefore all cars are red.' This is simply a false arguement. You cannot 'characterise' a religion in the same way that you cannot characterise a race beyond some very basic physical facts. So I guess I already learnt to read then. Well, I don't think my views on Christianity or Islam, or yours for that matter are really the point of this arguement. For the record I believe in neither. However, whilst you were lecturing me on my reading ability you did fail to answer my posted question:
  6. I think the point darkmage was making was that religion was not an issue in the Thai coup d'etat. The dispute over the legitimacy of the presidency was constitutional and not an issue of religion. Religion is not an issue in every world event simply because extreme elements of one religion or another have, in recent history, done terrible things. Why do all the facts you have listed mean that the Thai coup had anthing to do with religion (and incidentally the principal religion is Buddism). I am well aware that you are not making a personal point against muslims or islam, as I was not making a personal point about catholicism. The fact still remains that even if the entire population of Thailand were atheist there could still have been a corrupt president and there could still have been a coup, so why bring religion into it at all?
  7. Disclaimer: I'm answering your question not making a personal point. The reason everyone does this is because in the last 50 years Muslims: 1) Bombed the London underground railways in the name of their religion. 2) Attacked Spain in the name of their religion. 3) Flew airplanes into the twin towers, the pentagon, and had intentions to fly more planes into other buildings in the name of their religion. 4) Attacked the USS Cole in October 2000 in the name of their religion. 5) Bombed the US embasies in Kenya and Tanzania in 1998 in the name of their religion. 6) Bombed a US Air Force housing complex in Saudi Arabia in 1996 in the name of their religion. 7) Killed 5 Americans with a car bomb in 1995 in the name of their religion. 8) Bombed the World Trade Center in 1993 in the name of their religion. 9) Bombedpassenger jet Pan Am Flight 103 in 1988 in the name of their religion. 10) Bombed a West Berlin discotheque that was frequented by US service-men in 1986 in the name of their religion. 11) Seized an Italian Cruise ship, the Achille Lauro, and killed a sixty-nine year old American in 1985 in the name of their religion. 12) Blew up the US Marine barracks in Beruit in 1983 in the name of their religion. 13) Bombed the US embassy in Beruit in 1982 in the name of their religion. 14) Stormed the US embassy in Iran and held the American embassy staff hostage for 444 days in 1979 in the name of their religion. 15) Slaughtered the Jewish Olympians in 1972 in the name of their religion. Once again, I'm not making a personal point. I'm just answering your question. Worth noting that when you say 'In the name of religion' a lot of these acts were also a response either directly or indirectly to the establishment and support of the state of Israel. Now I don't think it's worth arguing the toss about who is the worst offender in that dispute because both sides have, in their time, behaved appalingly (bus bombings vs. helicopter rocket attacks on refugee camps). My point is that in this case religious and geographic disputes have become intertwined. This brings me to my main point. Assuming you can tar 1.3 billion people with the same brush then a similar religious/geographic battle has been fought in Ireland for nearly 100 years. Albeit this dispute is now in a political phase however, in the 32 years leading up to 2001 Catholic and Protestant terror groups were responsible for the murder of 3075 people, the majority of whom were civilians. So muslims don't have a monopoly on senseless bloodshed. In addition, I am not sure I have ever met an English Catholic who condones or actively supports these acts of terror. You cannot label an entire religion on the basis of the acts of the few.
  8. I think a lot of people are ignoring the simple facts that: a. Thailand is not an Islamic state, Buddism is also a strong force there. b. This was a bloodless coup You surely can't criticise a nation for rising up to overthrow a corrupt government (I think in some US states such a right is still enshrined in law). Such corruption and electoral fraud it tantamount to dictatorship and recent history shows that the US and UK have taken a selectviely strong line on dictatorships. I personally don't object to people criticising religions provided that their arguements are well thought out, these were not well considered arguements. To associate any human behaviour other than the following of sacraments etc. is to make an unwarranted assumption that religion dictates human nature. I would suggest it would be difficult to find a mainstream religion the followers of which have never been associated with violent behaviour. So my main arguement here is that to associate any religion with peaceful or warlike behaviour is unsound. Maybe statistically one is more warlike than another but sich a point is rather trivial overall. People can be terrible no matter what god they pray to.
  9. I'd say you will probably make it with 10k knives but try it and see if you get close. I wouldn't do blues because I went there with 72 range and a load of steel knives I'd found in my bank and I was hitting 0 pretty often. Moss giants, fire giants or lessers would be good. Edit: By the way you can sum that geometric progression that gopitar just gave you if you lose 1 knife in 5 (what I always assume) then 1/5 = 0.2 so the total xp you can expect from 10k knives is 120000/0.2 = 600k
  10. You can make a pitiful amount back if you sell your coifs or whatever to a general store but other than that it's a money loser.
  11. Just a suggestion, I never tried it. Have you tried killing the ice queen again?
  12. I don't know if I could name a favorite but I'll put a few down: If you like your stories surreal then I can thoroughly endorse Haruki Murakami's The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle and other novels/short stories by the same author. For sci-fi I'd go for the Iain M. Banks novels (not Ian Banks - very different), probably start with Player of Games or Use Of Weapons If you liked the DaVinci Code (which I hope you didn't) then Umberto Eco's Name of the Rose is a much more literate book dealing with similar themes as it Foucalt's Pendulum (INOR is more accesible though). For a more traditional read try Shadow of the Wind by Carlos Ruiz Zafon (sp?). One last one if you like geeky computer/cryptography then definitely read Cryptonomicon by Neal Stephenson, which you'll probably want to follow up with The Code Book by Simon Sharma.
  13. That's true. I cooked in rogues den with <50 thieving. It's great, second best would be lumbridge range but it really is a lot further if you are cooking in bulk.
  14. Horoscopes rely on several things. Firstly there is an extension of the Barnum Statements (aka Forer effect) which are sets of statements that could apply to pretty much anyone. Secondly people who wish to believe horoscopes are prone to flawed analysis, specifically focussing on spurious correlations and rejecting outright and conflicts. The only good horoscope I have ever read was in the Framley Examiner and read as follows (something like at least, I read it years ago): Pisces: If it's any consolation those 239 people would have died anyway in the end.
  15. Firstly to say I haven't watched it, I saw a poster for it and just that was enough to put me off. However, I have had a few freinds report back on it. What I don't understand is how anyone ever believed this would actually be worth watching. How anyone even expects to translate the specific religious, geographical and cultural setting of the original into a modern setting baffles me. Nothing about this movie adds up: Nic Cage, Neil LaBute and 18 (count them) producers. Was it ever going to be good?
  16. I recently watched a film called The Most Unromantic Man In the World. Which is the result of letting your gf go to Blockbusters unattended. This is quite possibly the worst film I have ever seen it was, frankly shambolic and all the worse for being predictably so. I would heartily recommend it to everyone for two reasons: 1. Misery loves company 2. It will instantly improve every other film you see To add insult to injury my gf forgot to return it and we ended up with a ̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâã15 fine, this is exactly why I get my rentals from Amazon. Slightly off topic: I enjoyed Life Aquatic although Royal Tenebaums is still my favorite Wes Anderson film.
  17. I was going to say get both but I mostly use my air staff for teleporting about the place and seeing as you seem to be f2p that's not so important. If you really have to get only one then get a fire staff because it is good for superheating and alching. Plus airs are less hassle to craft than fires. But I'd seriously consider getting both.
  18. As with Bubsa I use Zone Alarm (the free edition) with a dynamic IP and i have never had any problems. Is this specifically a problem related to playing Runescape? Yu could just download the windows client and set a permission for that?
  19. Personally whenever I am just chopping wood or whatever I wear full iron with a square shield, climbing boots, ice gloves and an abyssal whip. Not for any particular reason, it just amuses me. Plus I spend most of my time cutting yews so when people ask I can say Ownz Yew in Iron which makes me laugh because its so unfunny.
  20. I just ranged him from the spot where I tele'd in. He just stood his ground and maged me, he never closed the distance to melee. Easy as pie, I used 13 rune arrows and 24 prayer points (no pots) at 70 range.
  21. I personally used energy pots but if you're protecting from melee and have antis and food then you can afford to take a few rockfall hits. @sheepdean: Fair enough. When you said guide I assumed you meant someone actually leading you through etc. But yes going in cold it'd be quite hard.
  22. I wouldn't even rank it 8. You have all the protect prayers. Enough ppots and anti poisons and you should walk it. Just make sure you keep your head in Zoonock's dungeon. The Jungle Demon is easy, even with 48 range you should get by just fine.
  23. Well, you have good combat and seem to be training slayer so full Guthans? Or buy a lot of gold ore and smelt it with Family Crest Gauntlets to raise smithing? Spend it all on pure ess and use w66 Law Crafting to raise RC? Spend it all on dragon bones and raise prayer? Raise construction?
  24. Killing abyss rcers must be like shooting big fish in a small barrel. They have no food, no prayer, often no tele, often no weapon and pretty often nothing worth pking for. Abyss pkers aren't exactly 'masters of the art' are they? TB, snare, pot, dds spec end of story. Ancients is almost a compete waste of time because you can tele away using the Zammy mage unless you're unlucky. So far 0/3 people have sucessfully pked me with ancients. Except one guy where I banked everything and let him pk me just to waste his runes. Seriously if you need a guide for this then give up pking right now. Edit: Read your other guide which seems to be putting across the other side and makes me a bit less hostile to this guide, but still, if people actually require telling to TB first then bind they need to consider doing something else.
