  1. Kill Bill I: Yeah, shame on me for seeing this movie only just now, for some reason I never found the opportunity to watch it. Anyway, it was a good movie but not as outstanding as Reservoir Dogs or Pulp Fiction IMO. I expected a lot from it so perhaps it's because of that that I'll rate it 8/10, very good but somewhat less than I'd hoped for. I felt like Tarantino made a mistake by overdoing some scenes, like the one where Uma slaughters the '88'. As if they're a bunch of morons that haven't ever fought with a katana in their lives. Probably those guys have done nothing but fought with it in their lives. A bit of fun in fighting scenes is cool, like the fight against that freaky girl with the mace, but that just made it kinda boring.
  2. You do? Wow, that makes me pretty jealous :) Enjoy the concert!
  3. I recently discovered this band, their music is so wonderfully calm that it makes me forget all my worries. For the people that do not know them but also like something apart from rock, Sigur RÃÆÃâÃâós is a band from Iceland that makes music that isn't really comparable with anything else. But to give you a clue: a mix between massive attack, radiohead, a touch of Moby and classical music. I find this music to be some of the best music I've ever heard and I thought I couldn't leave you guys without a little notification about them. And these guys are so kind to share their music for free on http://www.sigur-ros.co.uk/media. Enjoy!
  4. Banned for banning the wrong person, you were supposed to ban the person above you :(
  5. Ooh, Ur seems to be an ancient city of Mesopotamia (you know, where the first agriculture occured); for those of you who have played age of empires I; you'll remember this wonder :) find me: 'age of empires wonder'
  6. That list is ridiculous... American Idiot in the top 20?? Limp Bizkit in the top? Pffft. Oh and perhaps I didn't check the list carefully enough but the Beatles, the Rolling Stones, Queen etc. aren't in there at all. Is this a post 80s list?? Another thing: I love Radiohead but whoever considers it a school example of rock probably suffers from brain damage.
  7. I've always loved movies with a medieval storyline. I guess Braveheart was one of my favourites, that probably also is the reason why I don't accuse Mel Gibson of turning the true William Wallace into Willy Wally.
  8. You know you should do something with your life when your mother begs you to find a job and not a runescape related one.
  9. Banned for having goals in a game.

WOW! You're talking like homosexuals have done something wrong. If you're homophobic, fair enough! Just keep it to yourself. We're ( ;) ) human beings like everyone else. Haha, well said! :D I'm heterosexual (I don't like the word straight because it sounds like everything else is not straight, or right) but 2 good friends of mine are not. They're probably the only (male) people that make me cheerful just as soon as I see them. It's as if they have this aura that enlightens every one's day, never worried, always happy. I think that if some one can do that, that person (whatever religion he/she may be) is more 'christian' than anyone else. Isn't the morale of Christianity that you ought to care for others at least as much as your care for yourself? Besides that (I'm not very much of a Christian anyway) I don't understand what people can possible not like homosexuals for. Apart from some who like to participate in those rigid parades most homosexuals are wonderful people. And they're not threat to run away with some girl you fancy either :D Oh and on topic: movies I enjoyed this year: no out-of control good movies but: -Sin City, -Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (despite the often bad critics), -Million Dollar Baby and finally The Chronicles of Narnya.
  16. wont discuss it here because of spoilers, but yes, i did get it. and it could have easily been done in under 10 minutes, and it wasnt really all that great anyways. I found it a pretty great film even though drama is not exactely my genre either. The last part made up for the poor story (I do not like sotries about underdogs making it big time at all, it's such an easy way of making a b.o. hit) in the beginning.

If it was just a fairytale why did they need to base it on a real person? Just so you know it has never been said that Braveheart was a fairytale by anyone, it was billed as the life of William Wallace, which in my eyes should mean historically accurate. (I would have thought a history student would want historical films to be historically accurate. :P ) Well perhaps I'm a dumb student then, I also liked the movie Troy, because 'based on' IMHO does not mean accurate. If I want to see something rather accurate and more or less historically correct I'll watch a BBC documentary, not a movie.

I think you might have Indie confused with Grunge. I'm not really into Indie too much, but i guess Blur and Oasis would be the top 2 indie bands i've enjoyed over time. Hmm, you could say Nirvana is Indie as well I guess. It's not because kutr cobain called it grunge that it's not related with any other kind of music. It's definately hard rock but then again, half of the music of the 90's was.
  21. It's a shame you can't see why Clint Eastwood 'dragged it out' for 40 minutes. That's the essence of the movie, not the bit of boxing.

Braveheart is IMO (that is the opinion of history student) a very good movie. It is not realistic, indeed, but that wasn't Mel Gibson's plan. If some of you may have seen the movie with Mel's comments in between, you'll notice that he is even laughing at the movie being incorrect, but for the sake of it minor and major changes have been made to the storyline. It's also a movie 'based on' the story of Wallace, it's not the biography of em... As far as I know Mel Gibson has never claimed the movie to be close to the facts, let alone enterily correct. edit: I just read the comments from that guy from the link Phil posted, those were exactely my thoughts too but he doesn't seem to know Braveheart is just a fairytale based on what the real William Wallace did.
