I dont really want to look up the figures on the percentage of reoffending criminals. But, its pretty clear that the justice system doesnt work, most criminals who are released from prison are back within a year. So I was wondering, why is this? And what are some alternatives that may be more successful? In educational assessment theory there is a concept called validity of assessment. Basically it says that each task has a goal and a task is only valid if achieves what it is supposed to. A written driving test is not very productive for instance (if the test is set up to check if people can drive safely) because someone could pass the test and not necessarily have the skills to drive safely. Back to the point, how 'valid' is the justice system when its goals are clearly not being achieved? Its important to remember that it is called the justice system, not the revenge system, meaning; its goals are harmonious, the idea is to rehabilitate, not to punish. So saying someone deserves something does not fit with the justice systems theoretical underpinnings. I really like rehabilitative and social justice systems; where you have to help rebuild what you have undone. I think this helps the offender realise why what they did was damaging and unproductive and why its important they dont do it again. Of course this isnt the always going to be the case and some people will redo something and undo repeatedly, I just think something should change I also think the system should be set up where judges and people in other positions are given more power to make judgement calls regarding how long someone is jailed for and other particulars about how 'justice' is achieved.

Was it the ideological nature of the Cold War? Is it too soon to have an opinion on this? Will it just take longer because the Cold War lasted longer? not at all. i think its rare for someone to become a member with such a low cb, but the system seems to be set up for such people, all your original tasks through burthorpe can be quickly switched until you get 1 you want (skeletons or bats or something) i think you will find slayer gives you motivation to train because of the variation, unlike camping at goblin village

^that is exactly what we got in october, a little mini-event and quest with no long term rewards and was completed in an hour. and pvp which (lets face it) isnt that popular theoretically i agree with you, but i didnt pass judgement on this update until some time had passed and i could compare it with the old style. and the second update was as close to "thoughtless crap" as most of the old updates, in my opinion admittedly i should wait until more months have passed and compare it then, but using the proof we have so far the old way seems better to me. we got the same level of updates over a longer period of time

personally i think that while conspiracy theorists often make weak links and often their interpretation of facts contain holes big enough to drive a truck through, the moon landing for instance i also think that some personal liberties are being taken away from us in an almost systematic manner by the government. things that we justify and support the government for, but seem ridiculous for older people who enjoyed more freedom when they were young i dont want to think about what 'freedom' will be like when we are 50 years older, but i hope i whine about it to kids im not suggesting some kind of pseudo-1940's science fiction-mind control, just little things that add up and are ok when you grow up with it but comparatively quite restricting

okay, now im pretty certain i dont like the new update scenario. Im aware that PvP was a big update for alot of people but the halloween event and quest* did not make up for 2 weeks worth of updates under the old system *by quest i mean 5 minute walking circumstance (quest is a bold, exciting word) oh well, roll on next month and ill see how i feel
