  1. Alternatively, you could spend that thousand on 5 years of membership at any local gym. I see no point unless you live in the country side in a large farm house that will most likely be the place of several unfortunate axe murders, which then in turn are made into movies starring several no name actors while at the same time giving rise to one of the best series ever: "Dull, but Deadly".
  2. Thank god you found my flash drive. You can just mail it to me so you don't have to talk to me in person. Pm me for details. But seriously, i would have kept it. Maybe stolen his money on paypal, maybe stolen his identity, who knows. Its not the time to play the "what if game". I am a terrible person, i admit it. Of course, this stems from me being a pessimistic, self-absorbed bastard who only gives a [cabbage] about himself. Oh and the world is out to get me because people suck so much. On the bright side, if you did steal his identity, it is early enough where he is able to get his life back on track while at the same time giving him a life lesson he will not forget. Which is better you ask? The life lesson i say. You really can't put a price on life lessons.

    On Lies

I was going to save you a piece, but we ate it all and now it is gone. I hope you are happy. (good reference)

    On Lies

I'll agree Circle gets the square. But on a more serious note: You talk about lies, and then talk about what the definition of "two" is. You do realize it is impossible to lie if we do not know the truth. Since you don't believe in truth to begin with, how can you call something that isn't the truth a lie? If i am understanding you correctly, you do not have flowing logic. You are not a special or unique flower, stop trying to be one. Just because you are depressed doesn't mean you suddenly realize how horrible the world/ the United States is. And then you go and rag on sex. One of the few free (for most of us, maybe not yourself) things in the world. Why do you have to go and spew such slander and write such slander? Shame on you sir.
  5. Gotta second that.. The hardest part to me was to consentrate on the test and not to eat my lunch at the same time, which was waiting on the table. 27/30 and 26/30 . I made it through the first 30 clips and got bored. But the sounds made me want to play some old school nintendo/ old school 486/ old school quest for glory games. Now i won't get anything done
  6. People don't care about people anymore. People care about themselfs. As long as its not them in a earthquake, as long as its not them on a cold street and homeless, as long as its not their situation or problem, they don't care what happens to people and get on the internet forums acting E-go big and bad as if their hardcore for acting so harsh on a internet gaming forum. But i'm not worried about such people, what comes around, goes around, and when they find they are homeless one day and there is no one around to care, its their own fault. I am sorry if i come to off topic to find interesting topics about something that isn't everywhere else on the internet. There are literally hundreds of news stories per day about all the terrible bad things that happen in the world. 2 people dead? More people than that die per day in Baghdad. Yet do you see anyone making a daily thread about them? Or how about all of the local fires that accidentally happen and leave thousands of people homeless per day? 3.5 million people in the US alone are homeless. If you want to talk about bad things, just take a gander at anything in the world. But the point is you don't have to make a post about it. And now this other guy tells me that i am only concerned with myself. Let me ask you something, what is the last thing that you did for someone that REALLY had an impact on anything? Myself? I gave blood today. I donated to cancer today. I live in a very diverse city where people care about things that happen in the world. Just because i find this trivial and insignificant doesn't mean i don't care. I care a lot, do you care? Obviously you do. So what do you plan to do about it? Nothing. You plan to sit here and be the moral police for off topic. So which is worse? Someone who thinks that natural disasters are a part of life, or someone who thinks they are helping someone by posting a news story on a forum. Earthquakes happen everyday. Everyday a natural disaster happens and people die. Everyday someone is murdered and everyday multiple car crashes happen, causing more grief than you can imagine. So where are the threads about them? Nowhere, because we are used to it. I guess that is what we get for being aware of the world. Getting used to how bad life [cabbage]s on the human race. Should i make daily topics whether or not i had breakfast? Granted this is an extreme example, but the principle remains the same. It happens every day, and it has no effect on your daily life. When i want to read the news, i read the newspaper. Or BBC. Or MSNBC. Or CNN. See now topics like the man marrying the dog is different. It doesn't happen everyday. Its entertaining. I haven't heard something that ridiculous in a long time. Its worth getting my attention. To contribute to the topic: Oh no, i hate natural disasters. Our government and the local government should do more to support the survivors. Blah blah blah blah blah.
  7. Oh no, a insignificant amount of the worlds population is now homeless. Lets make a thread about it.
  8. Good god, i hope you are kidding. Ron Paul is the biggest joke to come to the United States since woman's rights. See what i did there? I made a serious comment by relating it to a fallacious comment of equal magnitude. And you know, candidates eventually start out with that, but then eventually end up saying things to appease everyone and making broad general statements. Candidates tell the voters what they want to hear and then do whatever the hell they feel like while in office. That is why democracy is flawed. Boy this topic sure went far from the draft.
  9. Is it just me, or does simply physics tell me that the orbit of that planet is physically impossible?
  10. See below about fighting for freedoms. I would gladly not vote for the chance to be excused from mandatory military duty. People who are competent realize that voting realize that their vote does not matter. Not in the sense that i am only one person, but the fact that the electoral college is not influenced by the least by the majority vote. I am well aware of how the government works. And i didn't feel like spamming up morality in the government/laws because this thread is about the draft. Besides, morality=/=legality I didn't mean to say you thought that, but since you didn't specifically say that people are still able to die, people who can't read between the lines would assume that they have no chance of dying. I was just pointing out a fact. Right, but the actual act of conscription is wrong. Taking away someones free will to support the freedoms that you have is plausible in theory. But think about it, do you execute all of your freedoms? What if you didn't want to execute the majority of them and thus did not care if they even existed? Should you be forced to defend something you do not agree with? Yes, cue the get out of the country bit/change the government yourself bit (i will discuss this later). My answer is no, you shouldn't be forced to fight for something you do not believe in. Personally, i would judge the situation when it came to me. Thinking of radical events is pointless. Of course i would do this. Being threatened by imaginary things such as WMD's (couldn't resist) is not something i would willingly join the army, or any other branch of the military though The economic standpoint is a thought to take into consideration, but it impossible to get the complete truth. It is going to be skewed depending on who is it coming from. It is hard to accept it as a fact, although i do. Democracy has one large flaw: the majority. It is impossible for one person to make any significant impact upon the government. If they have radical ideas that hardly anyone else agrees with, they cannot gather enough resources to put pressure upon congress members which are elected by the majority anyways. My point is, if you do not agree with a core ideal of the government such as any of the amendments, you can't change it. It is hard to explain what i mean. I am trying to say is that i am sure that we all have core ideals which we would be willing to give up for some immunity from the government. But since it varies for us all, we can't. As individuals, we should be able to give up something, as in unregister to vote, or something as such, but in return we don't have to register for the draft. It takes away our duties and our privileges at the same time. Is this fair? I would assume so. That way, since you agree with 90% of the countries core beliefs, you can change the other 10% to agree with it all.
  11. So, what are you going to do, tough guy? Have fun being imprisoned. That is so ironic, its not even funny. You do realize that all of those jobs must be done over in Iraq. From what i hear on the news, a large number of casualties are just people walking from their sleeping quarters to the mess hall. American bases are constantly mortared and kill the non-front line people as well. It isn't like you have a 0 percent chance of dying. Thus, logically, you still have a chance to die even if its not in combat. Being put in a situation against your will, where there is a chance where you can die is morally wrong. But, its not the time or place to get in a talk about ethics because the draft will not be instated. There is a democratic majority in congress, so i think us strapping young lads are safe.
  12. If you are going to post a news topic, why wouldn't you comment on it? Well if people don't want to make unnecessary sacrifices, then what does that tell you?'
  13. I am well aware of the temperature cycles on earth. Looking at it from both sides is very good. But when one side seems to be heavily stacked with information, statistics, experiments and fully tested hypotheses it seems which side to support. Recently in the United States government, congress acknowledged that humans were contributing to global warming by the millions of tons of carbon added to the atmosphere each year. As far as I'm concerned, that is some of the most influential proof i can think of.
  14. I cannot begin to comprehend the amount of ignorance in this thread. Not only by the people commenting but also by the original poster. Have any of you taken ANY science classes or read any scientific journals? Then it should be clear that global warming is in fact happening. Stop saying its over hyped. You make yourself look like an ignorant fool. The original poster is beyond comprehension. Multiple typing errors combined with run-on sentences and lack of paragraphs have given me a migraine i will not soon lose. Not to mention lack of evidence and sanity. I hate tip it. But instead of leaving, i will critique people until the cows come home.

    FELONY

Here is a list of things you can do to help your situation: 1) Rat your friends out. They are dumb as hell. You should never talk to any of them again. This will make the penalty less severe. 2) Co-operate to the fullest extent possible. 3) Try talking to the person/group pressing charges and try to explain your situation. 4) Fix your grammar. It is atrocious.
  16. Yeah, thats why in the original post i said i couldn't do any better. I'm just pointing out concepts to think about. I mean honestly, here in America, we have a [somewhat] decent legal system, and I don't feel like drawing from the depths of my knowledge (3 inches deep?) what exactly i feel needs to be changed. I think it is fair to say that there ARE parts which each individual doesn't agree with. From examples of Lopez vs. United States, to being able to appeal to a higher court system if the verdict you want doesn't go your way. I am not suggesting change, i am merely promoting a different way to think critically of our standards in our societies.
  17. How is it not healthy? I am examining aspects of our society, how they work, and the basic logic and process of our minds. I am not dwelling on this, but my philosophy class in general. I find the subject very interesting and i am considering a minor in philosophy. Overall, it seems throughout the first half of my philosophy class, at every argument or logical process that we look at, there are flaws for certain parts of it. And i realized last night when reading psychological egoism and ethical egoism that we cannot base our lives off of one set of rules. There will be exceptions to every single case in our lives. we must make judgment as it comes and it is ludicrous to believe otherwise. I think thats why i believe the American legal system (i am not that familiar with any other legal system) is so bunk.
  18. As long as the zombies can be killed, i really wouldn't mind if they existed. . .Zombie hunting would become such a great sport.
  19. I am very critical of the government. Not to say i could do a better job. It stems from my highly unique ability to criticize things. In my philosophy lecture recently, we were talking about moral responsibility, free will and the likes of human actions. So think about the following situations and just think about them. Two people are going to assassinate someone. But one of them bought a cheap gun. They both fire at the person at the same time, with the intent of killing the person. So the person with the cheap gun misfires, and doesn't shoot. But the person with a normal gun, fires and successfully kills the intended target. Now according to the United States, the two people would not get the same punishment. The unlucky person who had the faulty gun gets off with attempted murder and significantly less jail time. The person who had the regular gun gets charged with premeditated murder and is sentenced to life in jail. (by the way, lets assume it is not the persons fault they received a faulty gun). Is this fair? Two people with the exact same intent receive significantly different punishments. So should the United States base their legal system off of intent? Or is this impossible because it is impossible to prove the intent? Or how about this case: Two truck drivers drive the exact same truck. Both have faulty brakes. However, on they take two different routes. On one path, the driver sees a child in the road and slams on the brakes, but since they are faulty, they fail and he kills the child. The other driver doesn't encounter any children. The second driver gets off scott-free even though he did not do anything different than the first driver. The first driver is charged with negligence of some kind and prosecuted for man slaughter. The two drivers did nothing different, yet they received severely different punishments. Can you be appropriately blamed for things outside of your control? Both truck drivers were negligent. But yet we still blame only one. And now for a completely new situation: Lets suppose that a man has a chance to talk to the queen of England. Lets call him Vinny. Without Vinny's knowledge, Larry puts a chip in his brain that allows Larry to see his intentions and then it gives him the ability to change his actions as he pleases. Now suppose Larry wants Vinny to insult the queen. Vinny, for some reason, decides 'hey, it would be a great story to tell my kids that I insulted the queen!' and when he has a chance to meet her, he insults her. Larry does not need to use the chip to force Vinny to insult the queen because he is doing it upon his own free will. Situation ends. Vinny, for some reason, decides that insulting the queen is bad and right when he is about to insult her, he stops himself. But Larry sees this and activates the chip forcing him to insult her. Vinny insults her. End of situation. Final situation. Vinny, for some reason, finds out that Larry put the chip in his brain and he knows that he is going to make him insult her. And instead of having a lame insult forced out of him by Larry, he stays up all night thinking of a REALLY good one to use. Since he is going to be forced to do it anyways, he decides to insult her out of his own free will. Now for the last situation, is Vinny morally responsible? He made the choice, but if he had chosen otherwise, it wouldn't have mattered because of the chip. Should he be punished at all? Conclusion- How can we account for moral luck? -Is there such a thing as moral luck? Ps. Sorry if i seem like a rambling fool. If you are interested and would like clarification on some points, just ask. I will answer to the best of my knowledge.
  20. You have to download the program to listen to the ones off the site. You can do like i did and just torrent them for free. the torrent contains MP3s which i plan to add to my zen. I can't believe 200 bucks just for hand of god. I previewed it for like 10 seconds and it was pretty awesome.
  21. Okay, i was leery about this, but willing to give it a shot. I downloaded the pack of 4 for free and decided to check it out. I decided to lay down and listen to it while i waited for my buddy to come up to my dorm room. I was listening to "content" and i didn't feel much. Pretty soon i lost track of time and i felt really funny. I eventually felt like i was hopping around on my right foot in a moon bounce type thing. The next thing i know my friend turns the lights on and i sit up like in a move: I sit straight up, gasp for a breath, and promptly hit my head on the ceiling (Lofted bed). Anyways, i just want to point out that in my month+ of living in this dorm i have NEVER hit my head on my ceiling, even when black out drunk and don't remember going to sleep in my own bed. I was really freaked out. I don't care if its only a placebo affect. Its like a hypnotist: Its not going to work if you force yourself to not let it happen. I am currently pirating the 2 gig thing off the interwebz, and i am pretty excited. I wrote this post while listening to "alcohol" and have made numerous spelling errors. This is fun.
  22. Is it just me, or did you disappear from the boards for a few years? *Checking link*
  23. I, nay, the whole tip it community would appreciate it if: You didn't cite wikipedia. You bold face the main parts of articles, or at least write tl,dr: summary. Anyways, it is a weak hypothesis which causes controversy as a stunt for media attention. Of course this is all just speculation.
