If it were that simple, I don't think this argument would still be going on after these thousands of years... My point wasn't based on your family, but where you live. Would I be correct in saying that you live in a nation where Christianity is prevalent, or the most common religion? Like you were, currently I'm not very religious, but subconsciously if I were to ever encounter something that could be misconstrued as 'spiritual', I would within a heartbeat immediately assume the Christian God the most likely reason. Why? Simply because living in an environment where Christianity was the main religion of the area closed my eyes off to most other major religions as a child, and thus I have a bias towards it [subconsciously]. Would I ever logically come to the conclusion that God was the main cause of anything? Generally I'd have to say no. But that doesn't change the fact that it's always going to be my first impulse option. And again, what reason do you have for saying that the Christian god is the only one who could be involved in what you see? Why couldn't it be, say, one of the three hundred million or so Hindu gods?

We can think about it all we want, but realistically, we don't really have the resources or knowledge nowadays to grasp the idea of the creation of matter and energy or the possibility of an infinitely long existence. [side note: No one really knows what goes on at the center of a black hole, so 'theorizing' about it without any kind of experimentation of research is probably not such a good idea. For example, some people believe that the energy and matter in a black hole gets dumped out somewhere else in the universe -possibly at quazars (sp?)- through a spacetime dimensionally ripping effect similiar to a pin stretching and tearing through a sheet of paper. Again, this is just one of many hypotheses, but if it turned out to be true your idea wouldn't hold up. That, and black holes are still a part of the universe, so it doesn't make any sense to say that it would get rid of the mass in the universe by simply sucking more in.]

Quick question for anyone who knows [going off a thought about Nad's post^]: Is the whole "left-right brained" matter nature or nurture? I'd definitely factor that into 'natural talent' for the right brained peoplez, and if it's nature than it'd definitely be important in further understanding the extent to which genetics can play a role in how artistic someone is or will be.

Meh, I've got no talent for art, but I've been sketching for a year, pretty much all realism or Japanese styles, and I've been getting better[ish]. As far as drawing realistic sketches goes, it's definitely been all practice and no natural talent, but I'd bet that general talent has helped other artists moreso than I; I wouldn't simply factor it out in the development processes. Depends on what you're making, I'd say the more realistic it is, the more practice it requires, and inversely, the less realistic, the more natural talent can act as a major factor. [side note: Nadril, how long did some of those digital pieces take you o_O? What do you use to make those in a realistic time frame?]

aquarius, that's a very interesting outlook on god, one that I've pondered myself in the past. Like you, I prefer the here and now, not overexamining the far past, and I have often thought of this "God" people refer to as nothing more than a higher being, a guiding force. But I have one simple question to ask- why do you believe divine intervention necessary for existence, and yet at the same time analyze and systematically explain how illogical the idea of a divine creator is [depending on how you define 'divine']? Not that I don't agree with your overall point; I simply don't understand why you find divine creation "necessary".

Really? I've always been curious about learning Japanese as well, since my father went to a trip there, and I've heard a lot about this Rosetta Stone (isn't that an Egyptian stone or something?). How does it work? Would you say it's worth it? I havn't seen a single English word in the system yet- it basically treats you like a Japanese child, forcing you to make connections yourself. It gives you a phrase, and a list of four images, and without telling you what any of the words mean, you have to guess. The first time through the first few words you have to guess yourself (like a child), but once you learn a few words you can use process of elimination to figure out what other words go to which pictures. I do each section two times (once with Romanji, second time with Kanji/Hiragana to practice both hearing the words and reading Japanese text more) to embed the information more, and it really helps, especially because of the fact that you're actually listening to a real Japanese person speak the phrases into your headphones while you do the exercises. There's no memorization at all, just connections and relationships. You learn like a child, but it sets it up in such a way that you'd learn a hundred times faster than if you were just in Japan guessing what certain words mean :P . Eh, if you've got a bit of money around, ya, it's amazing, but I havn't gotten to the end yet, so I don't know if it's long enough to say it's completely "worth" the couple hundred bucks. I'll tell you what though, it's the fastest learning method I've ever seen, and I've come across a ton of Japanese learning sites on the internet [don't really care to take a class :lol: ]. [Oh, and the stone, if I recall correctly, had a hierogliphic-Greek-[French?something else] translation, and using that people were able to finally read hierogliphics. It was a translation tool, which is why the Rosetta Stone software has the name it does :P]

I've had Oblivion for a few months, and just got Assasins Creed. Before I got AC, I always spent my time in Oblivion using Expert Level destruction spells on guards, and have killed more than a thousand of them in total with a variety of custom spells. I completely disregarded all aspects of the game, and just spent my time getting in fights. Then I played AC, and found out it was my job to kill guards, and in the coolest ways possible. For the way I play, AC without a second thought. Oblivion just bores the living daylights out of me. So much content, yet so little fun. AC, so much less total content, but so much more f'ing fun. [it's especially interesting, 'cause I do a lot of Tricking and Parkour in real life, so my regular movements often give me deja vu moments of the game :lol: .]

[Xbox] I've had literally... not even an hour of total experience playing GH in my entire life though, so I may have to wait a bit and build up some muscle memory before trying any Live :P . Ah well, my bro got Assasins Creed for 360 for Xmas, and I've been rocking that game up a lot more than GH. But there's a major flaw with that statement, a flaw the originial quote does not harbor- you require something new of a person, faith, when the original quote requires nothing new; it only asks for a slightly higher level of rejection/lack of belief. Basically, the first quote runs on the idea that everyone is an atheist to a degree, which, considering the number of gods considered to exist in the world, is pretty true. You, on the other hand, are trying to say in that quote that everyone is a theist to a degree, which, considering the fact that the people you are talking to hold absolutely no belief in any god whatsoever, holds no water as a counter-analogy ("I just believe in one more God than you do", they don't believe in a god in the first place to allow you to make that statement). You're trying to take a converse, which, if you've learned proofs in Geometry or PreCalc, almost always fail. Good play on words though :-k .
