Pro-tip: supply and demand. If you got the drop from her every 10 minutes, it wouldn't be 1bil + per piece. Oh, and you won't get 1 item every 10 minutes because you'd spend at least that long getting KC. I think if they want to fix Nex, they need to remove the KC. An idea I have, some stupidly high KC to get to open the door to the bank, but once you open it it STAYS open. Random idea is 40 of each monster there. Dunno how feasible it is, just a random number tbh. But basically, once you unlock the door, you unlock it for good.
  2. Well, all I can say is your gonna run into a lot of problems on F2P since you can't alch stuff >.< Well, you can, but good luck getting natures >_>
  3. No [cabbage] mate, i know how many people have 99s. At what point did I amke out I didn't. Yeah but they don't make there money on how many hours they play a month, unless f2p, they make it just on people playing it enough to wanna buy membership. For me that's like 10 hours min. I dunno I think maybe people wouldn't go for as many 99s if there was a lower exp requirement, possbily using different ways to train? I dunno.. but is it not mad thatthey originally started with that much exp to get 99?? Also i think its irresponsible to make a game where that much time needs to be put in.. Ok, there was no need to be rude. All you sound like is an average noob who wishes he didn't have to work as hard as he does for a 99. Get the hell over it and don't play the game if you find it not fun. nah im an average person that doesnt want to spend hours upon hours getting 99. To be fair ive already got 5. I'm talking more about how detremental the ammount of tiem required is to people as well. Im not complaining I can't get a 99, it's not hard, it's just a waste of life -.- PLus I am actually going to quit the game, but im pretty addicted to it. Thats one reason im getting pissed off about the way the game is set up, like I already said I think its incredibly irresponsible to have a game where the max level takes that many hours. Even Chinning it might well take 130 hours to get 99 range. Obviously it's my fault for having an addictive personality, but Jagex dont help by creating a platform set the way RuneScape is for me to get addicted to. if your going to quit then quit. Its not irresponsible its them getting paid by players to host a game aka their job. You're the irresponsible one because you don't know when to stop playing a game. Chinning also takes far less than 130 hours to get 99 range.... Its all your fault. None is Jagex's. Absolute bull mate, of course some of it's Jagex's fault. They made the game the way it is, they're the ones realeasing high level content where u need all 99s. Fair most of its my fault but I already said that. Would you say that the person who invented crack is not at all to blame for anybody addicted now because it wasnt intented to be used like that? Course not its partly his fault for making something like that, The very nature of RuneScape is to spend hours geting skills, hence there are thousands over really addicted gamers. Its boths fault. Surely u can appreciate how hard it is to quit, u must no people that play far too much that it starts to badly affect their life? If not then watever. I love how your posts seem to be "Start off with good spelling and grammar... a [bleep] it im too lazy to spell rite" By the way, crack has like a biological effect, chances your body and stuff.... RS is more of a mental addiction. A mental addiction is something that isn't actually addictive in and of itself, it's just an activity that people like and get addicted to. Basically, one has biological effects, one is more psychological. Which isn't to say that it isn't a real problem...but a much better analogy would be gambling. Best. Post. Ever. At least today. Seriously, we should make a thread for noteable posts or epic posts or something. This one wins. Best. Post. Ever. At least today. Seriously, we should make a thread for noteable posts or epic posts or something. This one wins.
  4. lol - are there actually people who believe that a kids actions on a video game will directly correlate to their sex life decades later, or are you just still stuck in that phase where everything has to be related to sex in some way and a man if defined by getting his [bleep] wet? ... ot - flowergame looks like fun, always the risk of scammers but it doesnt rly matter imo - imo rs is a safe place for kids to learn early not to gamble with [cabbage] they cant afford to lose... some will be worrying that there's a possibility for kids to get so easily sucked into a gambling mindset... but tbh i remember playing poker and blackjack for doritos and and chocolate buttons when i was @ school and it never did me any harm... Well, for one thing, the stereotypical nerd/40 year old virgins who live in their parents basement exist. Not in particularly large quantities, but they DO exist. And what people like to do on video games is, when they see a successful, high level player they make up something to insult them so they feel better; and since the 40 year old virgins exist, they call these people 40 year old virgins. By the way, in what phase of life does everything stop having to relate to sex in some way and a man is defined by getting his [bleep[ wet? Tbh, that's more of mentality or mindset that has very little to do with age.
  5. Yeahhh.... I can't see that realistically happening, sorry.
  6. Black salamander at barrows isn't unorthodox o_o
  7. Apart from the stolen credit cards, which is something that is controllable now, how does RWT negatively affect legitimate players? Oh and I would contest that RWT is the objective of botting as shown by how there were still many bots during the restricted trade era for simple personal in game advancement and not for RWT. The numbers of bots have gone up but bots are often for personal use as much as for RWT. Yeah, people just pay for bots now. Incidentally, what I heard is that all the people using this infamous FREE bot were the ones who got hacked. Obviously the people selling the PAID bot aren't willing to jeopardize it, presumably because they make enough money off the bot as it is. The shift from bot accounts to botting on someone's main happened, yes, largely because you can't trade with a throw-away account; however, obviously it couldn't have been that risky to bot on your account if lots of people botted on their mains. Either the bots got better or, as cynical people believe, botters make up a large amount of Jagex' revenue and thus Jagex is being more lenient towards them. Oh and I agree with the above poster - MMORPGs are, to a certain extent, competitions. Compete with people in bossing or PVP. Botting/RWT gives people advantages over others in those areas, like more money. Lots of money. For really expensive weapons/armour and herblore and prayer and stuff. Now that I think about it though, stuff like WC training bots don't annoy me that much. Few more people at ivy isn't the biggest problem in the world lol.... Actually, the reason they removed certain randoms was because they could kill people. The only ones were annoying were randoms like the ent because they destroyed your items. I personally would be fine with some small updates every once in a while to mix in with the bigger ones. Maybe you weren't around for the randoms that made whatever you were skilling with fly away, the axe head random, the pickaxe head random and the big fish/whirlpool random. There were two unique randoms for mining, fishing and woodcutting and they did nothing to stop bots. Why continue to design more randoms when it will likely be only a few days before botters develop a script to circumvent the random? In the end that developer time is lost as soon as the bots are updated. It's like saying that producing more failing condoms is okay if we make more flavors of them. No, it's not okay because they still fail at their original purpose and things are better overall without them. Sure some people prefer the taste every once in a while but the vast majority prefer to proceed unencumbered. Rather then produce more flavors of failing condoms it would be more beneficial to move away from condoms all together to a more effective method of birth control. Same with bots. More variety in randoms doesn't help if randoms don't work in the first place. Resources are better spent being put into alternative ways of combating botting rather then something which is known to fail. Really? Really? Your analogy sucks. It really, really does. I agree with your point, but still. There's no particular reason for a sexual reference, not to mention a whole flaw in mixing "flavour" and "birth control." If a person is using tasting it, they probably aren't making babies with it. Then there's the fact that not only are condoms very effectively when people are able to use them correctly*, but you can MIX them with most other birth control methods. And, unlike all other birth control methods that I know of, they're the only ones that actually prevent sexually transmitted diseases/infections. Like, you know, the kind that can occur when your not actually doing something that has the potential to make babies, but does involve tasting them. *Let's NOT discuss people using them correctly vs incorrectly and why that would happen.
  8. Oddly enough, when I first started killing Bork I was almost untouched by the range attacks, but these days I seem to be taking some damage from them. Not much, but enough to warrant eating an extra piece of food or two. Tbh, rune is as good a choice as any for a low level - the aforementioned range attacks, plus the mage attacks so infrequently you should be fine even if he hits 300+ the entire fight. Ok, maybe a slight exaggeration with the 300+. But still. And imo, the fact that completing the elite varrock diary doubles Bork's charms seems almost totally irrelevant in a discussion about killing Bork at a low combat level. Not many players with low combat will have beaten the elite varrock diary. Especially not when you need at least 92 prayer (or is it 95?) to beat the diary.
  9. You know, I'm tempted to do this for money tbh. You can easily do it legit - at 5x someones money, your still making a profit on average.
  10. Have you finished the challengeO.o? Wait, we're being challenged to do that? Oh. Nvm then. I didn't read the video description because I can't be bothered to go to youtube to find it. He can post a link, or copy+paste it here if he wants us to read it imo >.> You can just doubleclick the video, or click the title at the top... Either will take you straight to the video at YouTube. NOW you tell me >.> To above poster, vid works fine for me o_O

  12. LMAO! Trolololololol. Ok but seriously, I found that quite hilarious. What do people have against New Jersey anyways....futureama, how I met your mother, and now tipit...
  13. The higher your skills, the higher level of the average dungeoneering door. A higher average level per door means more doors above the 99 level mark. Why exactly would you remove the only incentive some people have for skilling? Believe it or not, some people actually enjoy working towards a goal. Please do explain your reasoning, is it some kind of "skilling elitism"? Because I don't get it. Sorry, I should have made that bit clearer. But, but, that's exactly the point actually. By removing the major incentive many people have towards a skilling, less people do it, thus make it more profitable (or less expensive) to train. But, it would have been better if I put "for skillcapes to have never been implemented in the first place." Think about it: sans skillcapes, people with 96 herblore could probably make quite a decent amount of money off making overloads, for the rest of the population who don't WANT 96 herblore. (Or 99.) Well, in my hypothetical world where overloads are and always were tradeable, and skillcapes were never implemented... For most skills like your herblore example, you have to make the money to train the skill, and I hate making money, because I find it boring for some reason, and high level untradable updates like this will make things skyrocket in price. It may not be a bad idea to stock up on adamant/runite bars for the anticipated smithing update, just like how bones rose for curses and herbs rose for extremes. I want untradeable high level rewards for all skills. So smithing, but also unbuyables like Hunter. Everyone will have skills which he likes which he or she can use to get nice rewards. Furthermore, you can always gather the resources yourself if you don't like moneymaking. It's so easy to say that Herblore is expensive, however you can actually make money when you farm the herbs yourself. Flaw: when you "make money" with herblore by collecting all the ingredients yourself, you are actually spending more time making less money while doing so. (Assuming one is dealing with tradeable potions.) Prove to me that you love your mother? I think that asking for proof in this situation is a bit too much as I am not stating a statistic or an occurance. I think it's fair to say that most people dislike grinding for huge amounts of time. Also you cant judge a post based on one part, it's like judging RS for just the combat. Or judging Black ops by just the campaign, you have to reply to the whole thing or none at all. Go ahead, make a poll asking if people enjoy extended periods of grinding I doubt many people will go with yes. The majority will most likely vote no. You are making the unsupported claim that you think most players hate training, therefor it is your job to prove it. Otherwise how could we justify locking people up in insane asylums when they say there are aliens in the room and cant prove it? Prove your statement is true before asking another question. You say that you are heterosexual prove it. You say that you love your mother prove it. you say that you want higher wages at your job prove it. you say that you believe in god prove it. you say that RS is a good game prove it. See what I mean, its not "My duty to submit proof" on this matter. If Im stating a statistic that can be found on the web then yes it is. I don't think that I need to do a survey of 2 million people to come to the conclusion that the majority of people dislike grinding (not training). Stop being annoying and asking for proof bro it makes you look like a stuckup jackass And thats a great analogy with the crazy guy! no not really You wouldn't commit a crime would you, throwing a rock at somebody is the same thing as killing your mother! (The same thing that you said) Yoooouuuuurrrrrrr an idiot tbh. Well, I'll give you that people consider grinding boring - mainly because the best definition of grinding, in the sense of video games, includes the word boring IN it. Real question is what skills people consider grindy - and in particular, HOW grindy a skill is, and when it becomes so grindy that people don't want to train it. Wait, someone remind me why we're talking about this?
  14. Um, the adamant pickaxe and pestle & mortar have absolutely nothing to do with thieving, and it's impossible to get the gloves without going to the fancy dress shop in Varrock. As for making money, thieving master farmers can be pretty good money via those gloves.
  15. I'm gonna have to go with Obtaurain on this one tbh - his brother, Sköll, who eats the moon will give us skilling gloves. Makes perfect sense, considering the feedback towards buyables, how much it messes up the economy, and that way it isn't limited to one weekend. Plus, if Jagex REALLY wanted to pull the "weekend" idea, they could make Sköll only killable during the weekend o_O
  16. Hah, nice lag there at the end. Can I have my 2M now? o.O
  17. So most of your magic defense actually comes from your magic level? Does anybody have any concrete evidence for this or is that just hearsay? If that's true - then I'm going to rush leveling magic >.< Well, there's my post about Karil, who is an NPC basically modeled after a Player wearing full Karils, with 99 def/range - ever tried maging him? Epicly LOW magic defence. Quite surprising coming from someone with the best magic defense body and legs. (Well, excluding Pernix or whatever that stuff Nex drops.) Then there's my actual quote from the Jagex knowledge base pointing out that magic levels affect your magic defence. If your question is "Is there a quote somewhere on the Jagex site that distinctly says that 70% of your magic defence is actually based upon your magic level" then the answer is No. If you really wanted, you could always try paying pures to let you attack them via magic - find 1def pures WITHOUT magic, then find 1 def pures WITH 99 magic. Lol.
  18. Umm, you'll have to take me on my word on this one (or not take me on my word if you don't trust me) But, you know those messages you get when the game is loading, filled with all those tips? One of them says something along the lines of "Your magic level increases your magical defense, so warriors and rangers might want to train the magic skill for magic resistance." I'll try to remember to take a screenshot of it next time I see it. Wait, better yet.... Source: http://www.runescape.com/kbase/guid/magic_faq Or just copy+paste the link below: http://www.runescape.com/kbase/guid/magic_faq Also, a sort of in-game proof of this is Karil. Wearing, of course, full Karil's, wearing one of the highest magic defense armours in the game, yet is surprisingly susceptible to magical attacks.
  19. Dexter is innocent. That's actually an interesting philosophical debate. If person A does a bad thing to someone, then person B does that same bad thing to person A, is person B bad? Big value call there, really.
  20. First, @ Ginger: my last reply was kinda made based on the assumption you were the OP. I noticed the name difference, but I was still kinda confused since this thread is based on that quest. Alright. Now, I personally doubt that the 10k give away will result in 120k higher profit at the end of the year then without it. Certainly, 120k worth of advertising would probably have a better effect. My 2 cents. As for maintaining membership status, well if they did this so people would stay members, it's still money related.
  21. Having high non-combat skills is actually deterent to your dungeoneering experience, apart from the ocasional pot making. In fact, it only slows down exp. Also, higher skills means more skill doors with 100+ reqs, further slowing you down. Also, herblore isn't necessary to boss hunt. Disregard my posts all you like, but that still is a fact. Herblore is necessary if you want to compete with other players for bosses ( read: only when you get crashed or in a FFA. And crashing happens even when you do have 96 herblore, so your argument is entirely moot). And when we're talking about competition, you have to do stuff you don't like. I'm sorry, but that's how both the game and life work. inb4 you dismiss me as a "troll" because you like to pass your hyperbolic arguments as fact. Again. Explain the DG thing to me. Also, herblore being needed for bosses is probably a better indication that we need more boss worlds then to nerf extreme potions tbh. I think the best solution would be to remove skillcapes, thus removing a LARGE amount of people who skill simply for the sake of skilling, then make extremes/overloads tradeable; which would (I think) result in making extremes, or at least overloads, profitable.
  22. You're assuming Jagex is doing this to bring inkeep more members because they think the content isn't enough, which is not only presumptive, but based off of no facts whatsoever and just makes the person raising the question look like they're grasping for anything and everything to make some nonexistent point. If you think that the $10,000 giveaway is members only because Jagex is grabbing for moneytrying to keep all the money they have, rather than to weed out a mass amount of throwaway accounts, you should probably sit down and stop posting. It's better to keep quiet and have people think you have no idea what you're talking about, than to open your mouth and remove all doubt. There. Really, the cynicism towards the 10k giveaway is based on the idea that it's P2P only, and thus attempting to gain cash (and in this case, spending 120k to earn 120k+ or spending 120k+ in order to save 120k+ are really the same thing.) You've just shifted the cynicism of it from "desperate attempt at new members" to "desperate attempt to keep members." The problem is, your taking the cynicism as fact, proven by the fact that you endorse the question "Question is, why don't Jagex trust the content of the game to do this already?" That question obviously assumes that Jagex is, in fact, doing the 10k give-away in order to keep members. However, there cannot even be any discussion on that question if the assumption Jagex expects their net profit to be higher WITH the 10k a month give-away then without the 10k a moth give-away is false. Rather then discuss your question, we are discussing (and refuting) the unwritten assumption you have based your claim (or in this case question) upon. Yes, Jagex is a corporation. Yes, the objective of corporations is to make money. Does this mean every single thing Jagex does they do solely with the attempt to make money, or make us happy and therefore earn/keep membership? If you answered Yes to that question, then I must question why you are even playing RuneScape in the first place. Or, if you are not playing RuneScape, then I must ask why you are reading a thread in general discussion about RuneScape.
  23. They're getting tired of this game, but simply can't bring themselves to quit. They're the worn-out veterans who feel the gameplay has gotten stale and ought to move on to another game, yet they still keep playing Runescape. They'd rather believe the game is dying, in decline, or Jagex is going to hell in a picnic basket instead of logging out and swearing off it forever since they haven't the willpower to quit. All I'm hearing are complaints instead of alternative and constructive suggestions to improve the game. Heh. Remind me to put this in my signature later. This seems to explain a lot of stuff I see on the boards. Really though. They are spending 120k on this. Now, the question is, are 2000 people going to get 12months memberships in order for this draw? Are 10000 going to get ONE months membership for this? That's the amount of people needed in order for Jagex to break even, based on $5 a month for membership. Now, since I'm fairly sure it's higher then exactly $5 a month, then that would be approximately how many people need to get membership for Jagex to profit. Really, giving the draw to free players is impractical. Many, I'd argue MOST of F2P, has no way outside of the in-game messages for Jagex to contact them, for one. Add in a massive amount of people making new F2P accounts for the draw.... Or, as people have pointed out, maybe it just simply IS what Jagex has said it is, that being a celebration for 10 years of RuneScape? PR maybe? EDIT: To above poster, if rumours are true, then it didn't take "balls" to remove free trade/wilde. That rumour being that due to the amount of credit card fraud associated with RuneScape in order to pay for Gold-Farming accounts, the credit card companies threatened to cut off RuneScape FROM credit card payments, which would probably result in over a third of members to quit paying for membership, simply because they can't use credit cards anymore. Actually, I think the real numbers would be well over HALF (especailly considering how many current methods of payment weren't available when the whole thing happened) would end up "quitting" RuneScape.
  24. Well, once your defense is semi-high, fighting monks is a great way to train. Eh, AFK-able anyways. With low offense, which a real def pure will have, those things just don't die. On the other hand, with high enough def, you won't either.
  25. And that's where you're wrong. Skilling is useless compared to combat, it's not an alternative at all. Combat gives you several times the money that any skill might, so I'm not seeing what "alternative" they could be. Ontopic: I do believe that more untradeable rewards should be made available. Both for combat and non-combat skills. Ex: For mining/smithing, an untradeable ore to create better armors/weapons/TOOLS, a tier higher than dragon tools/armor/weapons. Agility already has some, weight reducing gear and shortcuts. Not combat related at all, so combat-unrelated rewards are possible. You can't say "I don't like that skill, therefore nobody should reap profit from it". Herblore has been combat related since attack potions were around, so if you choose not to train herblore to gain extreme potions, you're on par with a pure that says "I don't like training def, therefore you should lower the attack of the monsters I want to kill". In an MMO, in order to be competitive you need to train every skill, like it or not. Remember, there are lots of skills, and they all should be treated the same. Before extremes, you could BUY said potions. Personally, I think the best (and most unrealistic) solution is to not only make extremes tradeable, but remove skillcapes. Skillcapes is imho at least half the reason extremes were needed - with skilcapes, many skills like herblore became a money sink, with people dumping money into it just to get 99, rather then stop at the most useful level. (Which at the time was 81 for the highest potion.) IF the mentality of RS was to only make the highest end potions for their own personal use or for profit, herblore would be in a much better scenario - people with herblore save money on potions or make money selling them, whereas people without herblore buy them. The real issue is that people make potions more or less for the SAKE of making potions.
