  1. Another thing is, for all you know, the prices might go down further. Risking business, investing in things. Possibly a reason why I never do it. And that's also a very good reason (if you want) to ignore any advice I give, lol.
  2. I really, really doubt that. You know, between updating once a day, and keeping the 5% cap on how much the "guide" price can rise/fall in that day. The average price an item buy/sells for does reflect the actual market place, yes, but in some cases that could be very difficult going just by the GE. Still, more bloody efficient then junk trading. And the GE again beats the hell outta having a spamfest trying to sell items. All things considered however, the OP was close to the mark when he said the economy is messed; due to free trade just being implemented, PK'ing coming back and affecting the price of a large amount of items.... Not to mention old players returning to RS, although this would mainly apply to old rare-owners returning to RS.....it's very chaotic at the moment. Should settle down eventually.
  3. Um, farming herbs is decent money, you have the stats to start out with it methinks. Get the level for toadflax if you can, doing the ardougne/falador/catherby/ectophial farm patches. (ok, ectophial is not a place but still)
  4. Except to the level 49 who just got scammed out of his full adamant via being lured to the wilderness... Anyhoo, the GE is here to stay. In 6 months time, prices should be relatively steady again, and most people will still use the GE to buy more or less the same stuff it was used for before the update; the things that the GE won't be used to sell will probably stick to things like 500m+ rares, corp and nex drops, which never got traded on the GE anyhow. (Seriously, some Nex drops have the same GE price they had when Nex came out. That was only like 3 weeks ago, but still.)
  5. I'd try waiting tbh, but you never know...
  6. Not original, the concept is a DIYer - Do It Yourself-er. Do everything on RS sans trading players, GE or buying items that players sold to the general store. Takes a very unique person to stick to it though - personally, it'd be rather interesting to try.
  7. I hate to do this, but if you looked at everything you do for DIY step-by-step, it may not be as cheap or better as you think. However, Fun > Efficiency anyways, so whatever works for you. One question, are DIYers allowed to make money and buy items from shop? Say, mostly rune full, rune pickaxe, etc. Cos I think it'd be rather unbearable to not be able to use a rune (or hell, addy, maybe not even mith...) until you can get a drop. (I'd say make it yourself, but you couldn't even make them until recently o_o) Actually, better question, what items are you allowed to buy from shops? Certain items would be unavoidable, like knives, tinderboxes, etc. Items PLAYERS sell to the general store would be an obvious no-no....
  8. Actually, the posted setup probably isn't the greatest; any magic damage modifiers only work on the creature your actually targeting, not the other 8 lobsters. Frankly, if cost TRULY isn't an issue, I'd go with a master wand. Or a water staff, lol. You might want to scratch the arcane stream too.
  9. Ok, so anyone with high stats and expensive items who knows about bots is a bot. So, if a maxed player spends half an hour googling bots, he or she is a botter. Gotcha.
  10. Same. Small amount of you jerks are making tons of money, would be nice if I could do that. Also, if it's making the game boring......just stop merching? so people that make alot of money are jerks now? explain please Oh, probably jealousy.
  11. No, actually, it DOESN'T feel like that to me. I DON'T remember checking the players online and thinking "this is a lot lower then what it was." Furthermore, I DON'T remember a time when it was around 100k; the most I can REMEMBER is 150k, at the lowest (and probably not even that.) Here's a tip: emotions != fact. Emotions lie to you and cause you to make up rationalizations to support what your emotions dictate should be true. It'd be oh-so-very-easy to start losing interest in RS, and translating that into RS is dying. From that, you look at the number of people on, and (with the idea that RS is dying and less people are playing now running about your subconscious) think, "Oh, I remember more people being on when I played." From there, it's a simple matter of some part of your brain turning "I remember more people then this being on" into remembering seeing a larger number on then you see now. Example: I think RS is dying, because I'm losing interest; others are losing interest. I know this, because a select group of friends thinks this. There must be less people playing RS now. Let's see. There are 180k people on right now. I bet there were more people on when I was playing more. Oh. I "remember" there being 250k people on at peak times. Furthermore, the fact that no one single person on this thread has agreed with you is much stronger evidence that RS isn't dying then what your own emotions about RS dying. However, I must add that the fact that no one has disagreed with you is really, really, really horrible evidence in and of itself.
  12. Dude, I'd totally buy one of those lol.
  13. A, that takes years, B, nex/wilde/free trade is arguable quite a bit of new content lol.
  14. I happen to agree with this guy. It feels like there's some secret that a lot of people here know, that I don't. I got MY rare (blue h'ween) off claw drops...
  15. If you don't explain this soon, I will consider you a troll. (Note I don't consider you a troll yet because I'm giving you the benefit of the doubt.) Oh, and this: Where is the logic behind giving 31 days of membership one second, 28 days of membership the next second? If you bought a month of membership on the 31st, your membership will last 2-3 days longer than when you would have bought it a day later. Makes no sense. I don;t get why people find this so confusing or weird. The entire world works this way. If you pay £200 rent a month, you still pay the same amount for less time in february. If you have a contract phone you are billed monthly and free allowances run monthly, which again means less time for feb. In the entire world of buying things it is FAR more unusual for a monthly payment to relate to a set number of days, instead they run by numerical date. Phone contract payments for my bill are taken on the 19th of the month every month. Rent payments go on the first of very month. Bill (on a fixed tariff) come in on the 20th of every month. Broadband comes in on the 18th of every month. They all cost the same amount (assuming don't go over the tariff allowences) regardless of the month of the year.
  16. Um, no... well, let me be specific. You prefer NO duel arena to a duel arena with a staking limit, implying there is no point to it. If that is the case, there was no point in the duel arena EVER being F2P in the first place. If I were F2P, I'd rather have a duel arena where I could fight people for fun, without risking my valuable armour, (200k is quite a bit for some f2p'ers :P) rather then no duel arena at all. I do agree they should have a higher dueling limit; considering unlimited free trade, I think F2P should be able to have unlimited staking as otherwise it just leads to potential scamming possibilities. Following that, I think a higher reasonable limit of 500k would be nice, although I still think unlimited staking would work better there...
  17. Yeah but there are less players, RS is getting less traffic, whats there to discuss, there isnt a right or wrong. Yes, actually, there IS a right or wrong. "There are less players." This statement is either true, or false. Given the wilde/free trade coming back, this sentence is arguable false since there are more players. "RS is getting less traffic." This is also a true or false statement. Tell me, what is your source for this? I know there have been discussions about google trends on things; however, that simply proves that less people are using google to find it. In an effort to be fair and unbiased, I will not dispute that claim as I have not, on this thread, seen strong arguments for either cause. However, your statement that RuneScape is receiving less unique hits requires a source for it to be a veritable statement. In all honesty, the argument that RuneScape is dying because of less players and less traffic to RuneScape is a valid argument, because IF there are less players and IF there is less traffic to RuneScape, I believe everyone here would agree with RuneScape is dying. Since it is impossible for the premises (less players on RuneScape, less traffic to RuneScape) to be true and the conclusion (RuneScape is dying) to be false, it's valid. However, I see no evidence supporting your premises. (Note that a valid argument doesn't have to be correct.) Furthermore, all numbers stated here are almost completely meaningless in a meaningful discussion if there is no proof to back them up. I could easily say that, sometime between the Wilde and Free Trade coming back and now, I saw 250k people online.
  18. I have nothing original to say, so I'm just gonna quote people who are saying more or less what I think. its definately not growing in terms of players.Your dumb not to see that.. plus why do you think theyre bring wildy and free trade back?? because it IS dying(in terms of traffic)! it is growing in terms of players... people are coming back, and people were returning before they re-announced the wild. But they brought back the wild because it was a stupid thing to remove in the first place. that was why people played. when they removed it, people quit yes, but that didn't stop new players from starting up in their place. whys everyone so argumentative on this forum, i thought RS forums wer bad but there always seems to be at least someone agreeing with you. I don't see how you can think that in general RS is growing, when it is not.Even if you get 200k online at weekends RS still used to get 300k.. Because you're wrong. And one more note for that last part: the fact that there's at least someone agreeing with on on RS forums vs here just proves that there are a lot more people there then here. Given a large enough population, you'll find someone who will believe/agree with almost anything.
  19. Has nothing to do with capitalism. It has to do with avarice and a lack of morals. Yea right... capitalism is seeking out your own wants and needs over anyone elses. Its not my fault I'm an oportunist. Not to mention since Runescape is a GAME. I know this might be hard to comprehend but since Runescape is NOT real life, then the "morals" that apply in it are a lot more insignificant than the morals that represent real life. Yeah, just because you can't see the person on the other side of the screen and will never meet them means their feelings don't matter. Using that logic, cyber-bullying is fine because it's not RL, correct? Why should morals play any part? Why should I feel bad about it? It's not RL. It may only be a game, but as Kelly says so well, "People bring bits of themselves into that game." They work hard for their GP, for their name, for their ranks, etc. They put countless hours of their RL time into earning that stuff. Should one mistake cause them to lose all of that simply because "it's a game" and morals shouldn't count? The fact that you "bring part of yourself into the game" is irrelevant. As long as the rules that Jagex has set forth are being followed, "moral code" is open to interpretation on an individual basis. Sure some players treat RS as if it were RL, but that doesn't mean that the vast majority of players (those who treat RS for what it is, a game) have to play by your rules. Well, I by your logic, as long as you follow the laws of the land, you are being moral. Therefore, slavery was perfectly moral and acceptable and not morally wrong AT ALL in the U.S. 200 years ago; to be specific, the slavery of black people. Oh. Oh. What now. Don't make me find current examples either. EDIT: Fyi, I have no personal issue with blessing/not blessing/looting gravestones, and I wouldn't blame anyone for looting mine, nor do I consider a SERIOUS breach of ethics or morality. That being said, to say that it is completely and morally correct and to say that there is in no way anything morally with it is, to me, wrong.
  20. Last time I checked on the wilde/free trade [bleep] from jagex, there was? Pfft! Is that a joke ok we are f2p but what is the point of staking if it is only 40k? I mean something like 100k wouldnt hurt. Ans literally fleshies were so packed but now with the wildy there empty, so good for strength training atm and probs lots of other skills as well New type of scamming: F2P dueling. We trade over 40k depending on who wins/loses the duel. Really, I think a 40k duel limit is kinda dumb considering F2P gets free trade. Doesn't seem very thought through.... Actually, you'd have to be a little imaginative to get that "over 40k staked duel" scam to work, but I'm positive people will try and work with it from scams. Again, bad idea to have free trade but limited stakes dueling imo.
  21. Ummm, have you been pk'ing a lot of the wilde + 1 worlds, where, you know, your automatically skulled but you still keep one item on death?
  22. Sir_Squab replied to Legionwizard's topic in Rants
Um, what the hell? You have them standing in level 5 wilderness by edge. Unless the Zamorak mage has some powers I don't know about...
  23. The wilde ones were supposed to be dangerous because of the threat of revenants. Not PK'ers. Let's see: revenants: I'll take sara d hide, blue mask, blue whip/rune defender (before d-def :P ) to wilde to protect a friend as a "blue knight" of some sort, lol. Take some monks, anti, few venge runes, I feel 100% safe. [bleep] the [bleep]ing hell out of [bleep]ing doing something that [bleep]ing stupid with [bleep]ing pk'ers all [bleep]ing over the [bleep]ing wilderness. [bleep]! Sorry for the excessive use of [bleep], but I'm trying to get a point across. lol Oh and the GGS and toolbox hidden thing fails. Really, in DG all items should appear instant on ground when you drop it. Hope Jagex fixes that. And I kind of want to try staking, just to exploit glitches >.< To above poster, I did not realize that removing price restrictions always causes prices to go up o_o Not that surprising to hear tbh, but but still.
  24. Except that with free trade, a large part of W2 GE (as it is now) will be obsolete. I would only consider going to W2 (after FT) for rares. Everything else you can just get easily in the GE. No more bought out stuff. No more "can't get it in the GE cause it's bought out, so I have to go to w2". Just offer a bit higher and you get it. Taking this into consideration, I think the space around the GE is big enough. Pretty much all of that.
  25. You have to get 99 atk str def, 95 prayer, and 92 herblore before you can begin to get into a decent mhing team. What's the point? That the most realistic way to get 95 prayer and 92 herblore is by mhing? The best way to get high level DG is to get into a high level clan; the best way to get into a high level clan is to get high level DG. The only way to unlock the door is with the key locked inside the room. Ooo, that sounds cool.
