12-Apr-2011- Clan Camp, Support and Web Pages
Yeh I was a bit miffed earlier at lack of comments. I like reading the update thread usually more than the updates themselves. Especially ones that dont effect me particually as its meant for others. Yet no one is really talking about it lol. The whole discussion about making them look like skillcapes I wouldnt known as im stuck on ape atoll thieving atm. Interesting lol.

What the hell have they done to the layout of the highscores. Be prepared for a shock. Take a while to get used to that one.

While playing Runescape...
Why are you playing a multiplayer game if it lags too much for you to involve in player interaction? Why are you on a forum when you could be outside talking to random strangers? Why am I asking this dum question? Why do I care? Why does anyone else care? Why cant you just do your thing and let others do theirs without questioning their motives? Why oh why oh why!! So many questions and why dont they matter? - Anyway.. As for OP. No certainly not. I got better things to do than to talk to random people that probably half my age and quite frankly are ganna be even more annoying and intrusive to my gameplay due to various reasons such as begging, calling me names, ask me questions forever if I allowed them, worship me, follow me, try annoy me for the hell of it. IF I begin speaking to them. If I simply ignore them then 9 out 10 times they go away within 10 minutes. That 1 leftover person you learn to forget they there eventually, easy if turn chat off. Anyone who is actually worth speaking to WONT FOLLOW YOU AROUND FOR HALF AN HOUR calling you names etc. I think thats safe to say. When I was going for my smithing goal I averaged easy over a long period of time about 1 person an hour. Most of them were very flattering by commenting how fast I was and never made ever made mistakes within hours of watching me lol ^.^ Despite calling me a bot and other rude names. But yeh.. Just turn public off for a bit. All that said though. I dont mind it so much as its good people want to report bots, however some of these people really must learn the difference and/or not just presume things. I am/used to be a heavy bot hunter. I did it knowing 100% they were bots. I never ever NEVER completely blocked a normal player. There are less reliable ways to figure out if someone is very likely botting or not, after that step you use a more intrusive method but careful to allow room for error incase its still a legit person. Very rarely when I was a newbie at it did I accidently mistake a very few legits and I learnt from those mistakes and found better methods. After that the final and third step is to crash them.. but you only do that once you know 100% from step 2. Most people just run around willy nilly and report everyone and thats just pathetic and I havnt got time for it. I certainly wont respond to those idiots.

Jagex - Bot Busting
Jagex: FREE CANDY IF YOU BOT! Lots and lots of reasons to bot! PR Jagex: Lets go banned these bots! Jagex: MORE FREE CANDY IF YOU BOT!! Tell your friends! - Im sure there are a few employees that love to go ban them but its pointless while their boss continues releases new policies that help them. Or I mean, doesnt reverse the previous ones he did. As im not actually aware of new ones as fact. Probably do this all the time anyway. Its hardly a effective method.. more just legit fun PR stuff for some employees and players.

Should the Uber Cape include:
The cape pretty much silly with absolutely every music track. I guess every content update brings more music into the game. Now lets presume some of these content updates arnt even that quick to unlock all of the music. You could spend a week unlocking the music just for new content to be released with another music track. Think minigames for example. Its not always that quick to unlock all of their music.. There really would be periods were you could only have it for a day or two before losing it again. Now I would presume they would fix this obvious flaw.. except.. this is jagex and im 100% sure they wouldnt of thought of this problem. It doesnt matter how easy it is to fix it. And oh btw ever have a holiday or something with a long period away from the game and you have a whole list of music to unlock. Possibly multiple new minigames that take 50 hours to unlock the hardest song. Thats feasible that you have to complete or largely complete every new minigame that comes out to unlock their songs. Technically feasible scenario. It pretty much comes down to whoever makes the content really and the decisions made. Anything with music as a requirement without a limit is silly. I dont think having the ability to buy forever once initially unlocked is best option either.

04-Apr-2011- Livid Farm
I didnt mind this update as it doesnt interested me at all and none of the rewards offer me anything personally where there aint already a better option. However, discovering I need to do any of this update to finish my task list kinda makes this a troll update. What if you passed your driving lesson but each week you had to keep doing more tests again and again to keep that license? Its silly. Do it in bunches or just dont do it at all.

[Real] 01-Apr-2011 - Behind the Scenes - April
Haha, great april fools. I wasnt very convinced by the first one..Personally didnt find it that funny. This one is much better. But pretending its real. Im not too sure why its needed to make death even safer =s Its too safe to the point they need to actually make it more dangerous. Not just that but I think the mechanic would of been better if they made it possible to setup beforehand.. rather than in 'limbo'. Thats like setting a setting each and everytime something happens rather than having a setting that sets something forever. Its just not very smooth mechanic. More complicated yes but.. I dont want a stupid screen popping up every time I die. Thats just silly and intrusive to gameplay. Reminds me of all those 'warning popups' everywhere I go. Those are bad enough and interrupt my immersion.

28-Mar-2011 A Clockwork Syringe
edit: Nevermind front page mentioned it. I was confused why I suddenly had more 'tasks' to do because I only just noticed I lost my taskmaster emote had gone blank lol. I had forgotten it was mentioned in the 'other news' Ergh this is annoying to finish again. (They added a few more tasks)

28-Mar-2011 A Clockwork Syringe
I just got a pirate random like 10 minutes after finished quest. I tried to get far away but they somehow teleported me to an desert island marooned.

28-Mar-2011 A Clockwork Syringe
The quest was good but the teleport annoyed me as it ends up being useless. Its just easier to travel normally besides for the quest itself. It restricts you teleporting unless you are in the designated zones. Thought it be another useful option for penguins. Quest was very imaginative. edit: ..and for some reason my bank has wrongly placed some of my items into other tab slots by wrong alignment.

Jagex will scam you
I must be getting scammed when I need to pay my rent sooner than usual. I should only have to pay rent every 31 days. Considering its a larger sum of money this is a mega scam! Now I think about it.. the hours went forward! Its worse than I thought. I just lost an hour both for rent and runescape!

How Would You Detect Bots?
Its not even a matter of them trying to stop them anymore. They are obviously using new tactics that benefit them as a company (more money) rather than the population. (us) Then they tell us like good little sheep or simply people who dont particularly care that its to stop bots even though logically when you actually think about it.. it has no effect. The bot owners even prefer the changes. ....When does that benefit 'us' when both jagex profit and the bot owners prefer their new actions compared to old ones? I dont know about you.. but if I was paying membership for a bot I would much prefer to keep my membership costs than to have to buy a new one. As jagex I would much prefer continued membership profits rather than someone stopping completely due to a ban. Even against rwt, those who probably dont pay with real money, it doesnt really effect them in anyway better to make them want to stop. So 'I' would help stop bots by first start thinking about the population and stop giving more intensives to bot owners or new potential bot owners to bot. Until they do that.. any other discussing is empty. Costs money to stop bots - Costs money not to have bots. Even the free to play model works for them in the long run.. its exactly the same as legit players. Eventually bot owners are enticed enough to switch over and begin paying. There must been a huge boost in membership both from legit and botters during return freetrade. Morals is the only thing that keeps them stopping them on mass.. but if they are really difficult to stop.. then why not just profit from them instead. (I dont agree with this but a company would.) Their only motive to actually partially stopping them is because if they literally did nothing then the game would crash hard due to losing many legit players and their money.

An "inside job" ?
I think in this case your giving them too much credit. This is jagex. They probably just a bit dum.. you know? Their track record proves it. Goverments on the otherhand.. they aint dum. Jagex..? Pretty much dum tbh. No offence to jagex because they have a great game. Just a bit thick sometimes. Its part of their charm.. However annoying it can sometimes get. Without the *face palms* It wouldnt feel like the same game that it is.

[dev blog] Capes of Distinction
Well already knew most of this but great announcing it properly! woot! Epic does indeed sound more epic than uber for a cape. I thought some of the music was impossible to unlock for most people due to certain reasons unless they changed that. Unless it means unlock the music emote. I would personally prefer the requirements for uber cape didnt force someone to get 100m in a skill to unlock, and I have a 200m skill btw, I personally think its silly to again make that an requirement for anything. Anything over 13m should be down to the player simply wanting to do it for personal reasons. It would been more responsible to keep its requirements minus an absurd number like that for making it achievable within reason. I do believe mmorpgs should have certain responsibilities to keep things within safety levels for people who will train something just for pixels. I know I sure dont enjoy that minigame that much and it should simply be reserved for those who want to train for their own reasons. The same reasons I wouldnt want to see 200m skill capes. Ontop of that - Getting one 100m in any one skill shouldnt really mean one way or another if your less epic than having 100m in dung lol? Its silly imo and just should be excluded for those who simply enjoy certain skills. Its arbitrary at best. I will be eagerly waiting for the update.

15-Mar-2011 - Ring of Wealth, Shanties, Trolls and Dungeoneering
Game seems a bit backwards to me. Super rare items that are necessary for everyone in the game to own for the game to expand, but too rare to own. While previous difficult to gather items are now dropping massively in general making a gather skill alot less useful. (aka same problem smithing has but smithing was always hit harder due to less demand.) It would make more sense to keep a gathering skill as it should be. While implementing a new better system for weapons/armour so they arnt so ridiculously rare. This will keep medium level drops for good profit. Combat simply needs a different form of making money and its not hard to figure out if that 'medium' method of making money isnt good enough. Its never been hard to figure out a better way for combat.. loads of solutions thats waste my time to state them. Other than that I dont see why combat has to give hundreds of milions in profit combared to 10's of millions. While skilling gives negative hundreds of millions or negative 10's millions depending on skill. This just put it even more in favor of combat again. That said the main problem is the huge inbalance of it. Instead of 10 noted herbs its instead ridiculously high. So thats the main reason it makes no sense. To me it just shows another sign of cashing in on their main favorite skill while not maintaining the foundations of their other skills which means no longterm focus on the longevity and competitiveness with other games. This is a short term update for their main skill ignoring fact that the masses enjoy multiple skills and may get bored longterm. They need a positive vibe for keep members NOW and NOW is the time they must get members as high as possible without current members quitting. Its far from the worse move.. but pretty obvious to me why they did it. Same as the other previous times lol >.< Can bet next update will be similar. There will even be a day where they release a skill update and claim that as their trophy for all the sheeple to gather around and praise them. Shame really. Personally I am still crossing fingers this is a bug? I been too busy pay much attention. But I hope so. When I say bug I more referring to an error with their numbers.

Yes you are reading (b) wrong, they have the intention to change it, but because they don't know if they can do it (or when) they just say that they won't promise us anything. Reads to me that they are happy with their update and think we are all idiots for thinking it would be something different from what they told us and blaming it on us for imagining stuff up. ...Oh look at them again moaning about an update bla bla bla... We cant please everybody! bla bla bla. Which may normally be true but for that to happen to they first have to do what they say for it to be possible for us to imagine too much. Over thinking a 'revamp' would be thinking or expecting to be able to smith the best armour in the game. Not thinking or expecting.. well.. a revamp. So basically they either doing a straw man argument (without caring to argue because they are god and never wrong attitude.) or they just pretty much corporate and dont care either way. Seeing mmg attitude towards us I say he just doesnt have a clue that he is wrong and blaming it on us tbh. This is all my opinion obviously based on many other issues too. Unfortunately I think it also shows that they dont have the guts to do some serious changes to the game when it comes to skills. Imo its pretty vital and hopefully this would of been it but it wasnt. Its not just a bad update due to their incompetence but ultimately they dont seem to be updating their game in a competitive way long term. Its been noticeably short time population boosts which only works for short term profits.. Which is great for investors.. Put aside everything I have just said. Surely its apparent that his first concern before US is the investors no? So the updates are now geared towards them and not us. They dont understand games.. they want profit. If they see updates that increase population (membership) then they are happy. They dont think 10 years down the road when the game is barely functioning because its rotten inside out. Maybe they do know they sux.. but they cant do anything about it. They have a higher power to keep happy. I dont see them failing I just see it rotting inside out like an old car that still drives.

I just personally check out the cannon ingame.. lol. I might just go and get a gold/royal cannon if they shrink the size a bit lol. edit: scratch that, I just remembered there was a picture of either the gold/royal cannon and it looks pretty much same size. *face palm* This update officially made my gaming experience a tinsy bit worse due the cannon changes..

Ah well we all knew it wouldnt be what they originally told us however putting that aside this is quite a lot of new content added to the game. I dont know how good or not it is yet but there seems to be quite a bit of it. On its own without any other previous info I would see this as a pretty big and good update. Anyhoo.. as for my score. (without using it but my judging it on what they told us thats been released.. which is good enough for this kinda update.) Update itself.. 6.8. Fact that they lied - minus say about 15. So overall I give it a -8.2 out of 10. (Im sorry to developers etc its probably not so much your fault in this case. It was your boss.) I dont know what effect on cannon is yet but just from that picture above alone... o_0 I think I look into it later today.. Not too sure about it ha.

Two Chilling Graphs to Look at.
Never did prove much. I havnt typed runescape into google for years and even if I have its very very very rare. However I know for a fact that if I did bot I would probably be too lazy to put it into favs and then use google to get to it. I would be going alot less to that site than runescape itself, thats why. Though I agree with it I just dont think this classes as hard evidence. Just supporting evidence. Mainly there is also alot more people likely to search for bots too because there likely to be more people looking for them continuously rather than looking for the site that they want the bots for. Plus - I have tipit Forums on my favs list because I use it frequently. However if I want a guide I go to google and put in 'tipit' (actually its usually wiki but tipit is my 2nd choice if not one of the other fan sites.) because I very ever rarely go to that part of the site. I dont want my favs list spammed up with useless links thats I rarely ever go to. Diverting through the forums would take me longer than using google. So point is everyone is different and I personally only fav links that I use frequently and use a search engine for other lesser stuff.
