hm =\ wildy ditch -> wall seemed to have pwned bots, so i figured they went on what the name of an object was. Some bots use names/colour recognition, some use ID. - But both changed (there still exists an "wildy ditch" object in the runescape cache if you look into the data) during that update. However don't you ever misclick? - Especially if names are the same, having your screen turned sometimes the engine decided that you click another item than you expect.

14-Dec-2010 - Damage Soaking and New Hitsplats
pulli23 replied to Michael's topic in General Discussion
I'm fighting dragons now, and actually I don't see any "damage type" icon pop up if I let myself be hit by the breadth.. @the ancients: well soaks aren't ment to reduce the "dps".. They are usefull however to reduce the KO power of certain monsters (and especially pking).. -
Is hotkeying a button to a specific part of the screen legal?
pulli23 replied to ghjkl's topic in Help and Advice
@aspeeder: Well what about touch screens? - they'll get much more common in the next 5 years (also for desktop pc). There absolute movement is the only realistic way of using the pointer. If this would be a rule it's one jagex will be forced to losen up! -
I already explained it. Safe spot the meleers. And hope that you do get some meleers. Heck you have a prom platebody, you're already a leg up on people who have just a hood and no armor. you can pray mage for the merc leader + other summoned mages. and you can safestep 1 melee warrior. In fact it is possible to safestep 2 melee warriors if you know how to. It's actually not much harder than safestepping 1. So if you do this, you should not take any damage from anything except for rangers. in which case, you have a promethium platebody so you should make it by with table food and just tanking the damage from a single ranger. The odds of 2 rangers spawning is 1/9, so just teleport out if that happens and try again later. seriously, if you're in solo and taking damage from anything other than a ranger, you're doing something wrong. how would you safespot a meleer lol? with the useless 0.6 second reaction speed kiting isn't really possible. - Besides, getting a hood isn't an easy task (and in a team I'm always reluncant to "demand" the hood, I rather have someone else who really must have it get it - so the 3 hoods I've gotten as drop I let other take only at the 5th hood I will start demanding the hood). So please don't say I'm an annoyance to others: it is because I wanted to help others that I don't have a hood.. But aside from that: the lv 167 mage took my prayer down from 80 to 20. - Really in a small dungeon I can't do anything anymore than without at least 1 death?

@grimy: can you please explain how I am supposed to solo the merc leader (lv 167, I am 125 with rounded stats)? when I meet him in the very first room I open (and that's the only room)? I don't own a bow/shadowhood (just prome plate/spear). I don't have a problem at all when it comes halfway - however in the very first room it simply means you're out of luck. Sure I can restart: but if that is the best method, you'll have to admit something is "broken" don't you? What I would suggest is creating something like this: *increase all monster lvls by 10%" (basically dungeoneering is way to easy when you're already well stocked). However at the first room the monsters would be: 75% of the level they would normally (with 110%) be.. second room 81.25, third 86%, etc etc (so it approaches 100%).. This would mean that effectivelly (when taken the 110% modifier into account): 1 = 0.825 2 = 0.89375 3 = 0.945 4 = 0.984 5 = 1.013 6 = 1.035 7 = 1.051 8 = 1.063 9 = 1.072 10 = 1.079 Which would give people the ability to "start out" better. (Loot would be relative to the original level, so you'll get good loot easy at especially the first 2 rooms).

14-Dec-2010 - Damage Soaking and New Hitsplats
pulli23 replied to Michael's topic in General Discussion
Also an amazing discovery I made during quests: all those both monster who "attack with XX, but you can only partially pray" simply have half (? or some other percentage) of their damage done in another stat. The last boss of do no evil for example used range + magic combo. This is usefull for picking outfits (tip it guide says it uses only magic, which made it seem mage pray + mage armour is best - however as I experienced myself and no actually saw best would be to have anti range armour with mage pray). -
Why does Jagex refuse to release the hit formula?
pulli23 replied to hfbrads's topic in General Discussion
Yet OBVIOUSLY the chance to get a hit vs a splash does depend on your attack (& others defense) stats.. So obviously there is some formula behind this! -

That soak on obby shields is really awesome, compared to other equipement: guthans platebody (3% melee, 10% ranged, 0%), verac skirt (3% , 7% , 0%) slayer helmet (0% , 0% , 0%) all boots, gloves & capes 0% -

pulli23 replied to Michael's topic in General Discussion
The percentage seems nice but ... then again it soaks only 200+ hits ? Yup Kree arra's max magic hit is 210. Let's assume that using the best equipment for him gives you 100%* soak (hell yeah ...) that will reduce the .. huge amount of .. 10 damage. *I used 100% for the epicness of it. EDIT: At least at corp with 30% ranged reduction you can soak 150 dmg .. which is actually good. Well I'm not sure if it soaks the damage ABOVE 200 damage or starts soaking damage once you're hit above 200 (but soaks based on all damage)! But since soak is added linearly (it seems) this means that soaking is much, much better in high values than actual defense (defense value reduces, a lot once you block most hits!) EDIT: defenders give 0% soak.... same for lightweight outfit! -
First I'd like to say I'm not a mathematic student, my study (aerospace engineering) only touched the subject very generally when discussing various testing methods for wings/other complete products. - You can't really do an ultimate test on a full product (ultimate tests have the tendency to break the subject and reconstructing the wing for each test is too costly - we're talking about 10 million euro pieces). So doing a random test is an option (along with a few other algorithms to get multiple results out of 1 test). Here we use random - yet repeatable tests. Thus we moved over the pseudo random number generators quickly. Using multiple random number generators is actually worse than using 1. - Though in a multithreaded environment it is often the only/best choice to prevent threadlocks in your application (and thus unnecessary slow down). What people also seem to forget is that because runescape is so massive the generator is very unpredictable. - Heck even something which would "increment" the number by 1 each time would be completely unpredictable for each player: there're so many things which need this generator that each second the number would change by 0-100 depending on the user interaction!

neither can I :P - seems they haven't updated the KB yet? But this update has the potentional to completely make over all known armour types for each monster (more lower hits is generally better, so you might want to go for another armour type to prevent ko potentional despite it giving less defense) -
Hi there, I'm busy with do no evil, and now have to talk to king awowei, but where is he located (and how does he look?) nvm: just found him lol

The RNG shouldn't be permanently determined. Instead it is rerolled each time. But that's the thing though, unless the seed number is changed every time, the "on the n-th of X, Y will happen" would hold true. And even if the seed number WAS changed, it would have to be completely independent from the RNG produced. Which would mean at least doubling the work Jagex's servers have to do. The starting seed and the following numbers are completely independend in any random number generator: from any sequence it is impossible to calculate the next number, nor the previous, unless you know exactly the whole sequence. May I strongly suggest looking up the mathematical field before starting a discussion. It is quite embarashing what I read here! You clearly didn't get the grasp of how pseudo random number generators work. Please do a research before starting such a thing (or at the very least read wikipedia about several algorithms)

I do agree that skills ought to be mixed.. However the way jagex went with herblore isn't to my liking: first (till 85) it doesn't add anything to your "combat possibilities" and than suddenly it adds a lot. Also I'd like to see more things like: you require lvl X to make something. and 0.95 * X to use it. That way you can't "buy" items and hence ignore the skill. Yet for those who really like the skill there is a point in doing the skill for the skill's-sake. (and it might be profitable to make the items).

Uhm these data is so small.. Instead of 1 byte you use 2 bytes. - The storage would only increase by like 50 bytes a player? Even for 10 milion people it would only be 500 MB of extra server space in total. That is cheap... Also it wouldn't slow down: any modern computer (especially ones in data centres) are already 64bit, so a 64bit (unsigned) integer can fit in 1 memory block, and can be used natively on the CPU.. (but even if they couldn't, CPU's handle for a long time already 64-bit data by simply assigning eax & ecp registrers for a number and the slow down is completely unnoticable). Technical there is no limitation to the maximum number (alright: there is "a" limitation, but even with 64bit it is higher xp than a human can achieve in his life).

went a round without summon just to see how the food/prayer potion thing ought to be: and I managed to kill them faster than I could eat my food (sharks). with only using either piety or prot from range (both was even overkill)
-
are you misunderstanding korasi to be two handed? your stats are honestly, a little low for wyverns. I'd skip them if I were you. The money from them isn't justified if you can't kill/bank fast enough. I'll never skip tasks lol, that's out of the question at all! But the above were 2 questions: -Is stab good at wyverns (like at mithril dragons) -Don't you need mind (etc) shield AS WELL as anti dragonfire? -And isn't praying mage the best if wielding high melee/range gear?
-
whip is in general better than korasi's? ow and don't you need anti dragonfire/pray mage?
-
Hi there, I'm having a task of skelletal wyvern.. And I notice the huge price tag on their bones at the moment.. So I'd like to kill them and store the bones. My combat stats are: 90 attack, 91 str, 91 def 80 pray, 68 summoning 89 ranging. Untill now I only used the safe-spot method for ranging.. But that is pretty slow. Is there another (better?) method for killing them? I'd like to gain a bit money on the task though (will bank all bones). If I were to melee them, what would be the best outfit? (no 10M+ items though), and also no Chaotic weaponry yet..
-
Hey solo early on in a dg would mean it only costs like 2 mins to restart  Later on in dg you would have enough food/resources to kill it. So the answer to the problem is to restart the dungeon? Isn't that a big design flaw? - I encountered a lvl 165 MC at the second room (with 1 room being empty apart from a lv 113 mage). Isn't it stupid you just can't beat the MC then, and best option is to start over?
-
I'd like to see an "infinite" level cap.. - Just so you can keep levelling for ever. This would also allow jagex to keep coming with new stuff at later stages in the game!
-
Hmmm I finally beat her.. And actually it went way easier now.. Somethings I switched: -went with melee def gear (guthix body/veracs bottom) instead of karils -prayed mage instead of melee -didn't kill the rangers, instead I made them "block" behind the queen and last but not least: - I noticed that the queen had an AoE attack, and always targets me with it (yet the spash damage killed all warriors in 1 or 2 hits). Now I stood to the far-side of the queen and my warriors kept surviving!
-
yes. But as I said I'm like fighting for 15 minutes. Next time I'm taking a full brew + super restore inventory? + summon? that's over 500k I guess...
