What do you think will end the human race?
Misfiring a nuke is a contradiction within itself - the process is probably the most watched and secured operation on the planet. Laser defense satellites could blow up a nuke before it even leaves the launcher's country. Of course, you could explode the laser satellite before, but there's too many James Bonds nowadays

for canadian players. would you have voted for a coalition?
Who are you kidding, outside Quebec, nobody gives a [cabbage] about you guys Following your trend of being a dirt-bag: Us french are the ones who colonized Canada. Everyone in the West are descendants of those rich pansies who fled to us during the US Revolution. Without Quebec, there would be no Canada.

What do you think will end the human race?
Nope. There's always a population size limit, and ours it around 15billion. So, if you'd look at a graph of the human population, it wouldn't be an exponential "J" curve, but an "S" curve. Which means that, when we're around 15bil, competition over resources will take place and not everybody will have the opportunity to live. We're already tearing the fabric of our planet's ecosystem, ruining our environment. So many extinctions are going to take place in the next generation, and our planet, which is providing us with extreme services, is going to suffer. I really don't see any way out of a 6th mass extinction. Drastic action hasn't been taken even after all these studies, and the people who try to help are held down. There won't be any humans left to stand shoulder to shoulder by 2600.

What's the weirdest thing thats happened at your school?
Back in highschool there were auditions for a show, and one of my friends tried out. It was when Family Guy first started catching on, but not everyone knew about it yet. Since he's a moron, he stole each of his jokes from Family Guy. He was pretty much standing in front of a packed classroom telling all the random jokes he could remember, nobody knew what was going on. It wasn't funny, and he just kept going.. nobody stopped him until the lunchbell rang.. it was pretty sad cause he thought he was doing great. AHHH the entire thing is really awkward, and he was angry with me when I got accepted and not him, which added to the pitty+awkwardness. Another weird thing was when, in music class, my friend dared a guy to give the girl sitting in front of him a wedgie. The guy pulled her thong up the her clavicle yet she just sat there, with a smile of satisfaction. I wasn't strangely turned on, I don't think anybody was. No laughter ensued, just eerie silence. Those were my two "kill me it's too awkward" moments (at school.. yes I have more).

The Mars Volta + Sparta = At-the-drive-in
 Oh man, I'd give anything to see them in concert. My "Music in Literature" teacher is totally against all modern music, he's even iffy with some Jazz musicians. Anyways, I played him Vicarious Atonement (for the extremely well done voice & response guitar) and he was actually quite impressed with their music. That pretty much guaranteed my respect for the band right there. I also wanted to discuss Sparta.. Does anybody like their common music or were they better off in ATDI?

The Mars Volta + Sparta = At-the-drive-in
I've noticed many of you enjoy TMV's music, and I was wondering if you knew about their former band ATDI? Their history is long, so tl;dr: At-the-drive-in was emo+experimental. Emos got emo and formed Sparta, which in my opinion, does not hold a candle next to TMV or ATDI. The two experimental musicians from ATDI formed TMV. If you've heard any of the three, I recommend checking out the other 2. My favourite are: -The Mars Volta -At-the-drive-in -sparta Amputechture is my favourite TMV album... I can listen to them jam on the bus all morning even if it smells like BO and some goofball is elbowing my in the back. how about you?

Twilight.
A girl I like in my biology lab kept talking about how super Twilight was as we were isolating DNA. It was a true endurance test for me, but hey, I gotta suck it up if she's gonna repay me in favours. And hey, don't think of Twilight fangirls as brainless and tasteless zombies... they can't help it

What do you want for christmas/hanukkah?
I want a Super Nintendo with all the great games I had cause my brother lent all my stuff to his friend and apparently he "broke" it and he can't contact him anymore. That or the said friend, tied to a chair (for punching, nothing more).

Grades, GPA's; How do you do in School?
My academic advisor told me today that any University (in Canada i'm assuming) would accept me in any program, except for McGill's medicine course, cause I'd need to do some volunteer work and the MCAT exam. So yea, im doing fairly well

Your Parents
You thought you could sneak in an online shopping addiction on us huh?? No dice Lent. My parents pretty much gave me everything I needed to get a good start in life, and I'll always be grateful. Their freaking insane, though. Both teachers. Try being a student 24/7. Yeah.

Prostitution, should it be legal?
In Amsterdam where prostitution is legal, only 10%-30% (I forget the figure) of prostitutes have papers. That means that the government hardly gets any revenue from prostitution, and they clearly will never be able to control it. I think the Swedish system works best. Since women are always the victims in prostitution, the government punishes the customers. That way, severe risks are given to customers and, theoretically, the entire business would become obsolete. The government has a much better control this way because prostitutes travel, not the customers. However, like everywhere in the world, prostitution will always exist no matter what the circumstances. It's sad, and it really sucks, but what can you do

Ski/Snowboard season!
I live in Montreal Quebec, so i'm only a half hour drive from all the major mountains like Tremblant, Saint-Sauveur, Sutton, ect. I know Tremblant was open this weekend, but I had to go to a party yesterday so I couldn't go. I normally go once every week with friends, my family never goes. I'm also planning on getting a new Rasta board by Technine, and some nice Vans boots. Some of my friends have chalets, so we can have a place to crash when we go for week long trips  I'm spoiled

Major Surgeries
I never had anything major, but when I broke my ulna and radial (fore arm) the doctor had to snap my arm back in place. My arm would literally dangle down without this crude "surgery". Everything should have been fine and breezy under morphine, but it turns out i'm immune to it. After they were wondering why I was tripping bawls my dad goes "lol o yea guise morphine doezent affect me either llol" I wanted to murder him so hard.

Marijuana, why isn't it legalized?
:P I think that although it might be theoretically good to make it illegal, with it being more common young people might smoke it ans screw them up. Hell, all hte screwed up people I knew in fresno smoked pot. Strange, maybe only half the screwed up people I know smoke pot. On the other hand, more than half the people I know smoke pot. You guys really have to open your minds, drugs aren't this scary substance that will destroy your brain and turn you into an addicted zombie. I know you know that's not how you think, but it's what's holding you back from trying some. Personally, I didn't smoke again after my first joint for a month from fear of being addicted, but I soon realized how naive that thought was and my inhibitions went away.

Is God real post your thoughts!
In my experience, people rarely use evolution as an argument against the existence of a god, nor do I remember anyone using that argument here. It really just makes no sense at all; of course god and evolution can coexist. As for how eukaryotic cells arose from prokaryotic cells, there is one prominent theory that goes some way to explaining that step: Endosymbiotic theory. To sum it up, it basically posits that mitochondria and chloroplasts originated as bacteria and were engulfed by another cell to form a symbiotic relationship, both such organelles gradually loosing their biological independence. I suppose it's somewhat similar how bacteria like Chlamydia or Rickettsia coexist with humans (both live within the cells of their host), but in a positive sense. Wow that's an extremely interesting theory, I wonder why I haven't heard of it before. I'll read up on it when I get up in the morning (my brain is currently on the fritz), I wonder if this theory explains why there is some DNA in the mitochondria and plastids. Yep, it does. Obviously mitochondria and chloroplasts have small genomes, most often circular, as is the case with bacteria. These organellular genomes also have genes encoding various products, the most conserved of which being rRNA and tRNA (I'm assuming you know a bit of molecular bio here). What's most interesting is that the ribosomal genes encode a 70S ribosome - the kind found exclusively in prokaryotes. Obviously there is no real reason for them to have such ribosomes, nor is there any real reason that I can think of as to why the mitochondria or chloroplast needs a genome in the first place. There are also some other peculiar features of mitochondria, such as division by a process not unlike binary fission seen in bacteria. [/hide] According to my ex-bio teacher and brother, I already knew about this theory. Apparently they've told me about it everytime I asked them about pro-eucaryote evolution and I just haven't retained the information. Anyways, the theory seems likely, and i'm getting behind it. Thanks for posting!! on topic: ... pretty much everything has been said.
