  1. Same here, and I don't see the point in making them smaller since I can never feel it in my pocket. Other than the battery being 50% less effective, i'll still be using the 1st gen nano for a looong time :D 2 days after this post mi iPod stopped playing out of the left ear. The connections inside the headphone jack slot are all worn out and after rewiring 3 times, it looks like i'll be getting the new nano when it comes out tomorrow.
  2. Their economy is going into a recession, you can blame it on anything you wish but the government definitely did the right choice in bailing out all those companies. I don't even want to imagine what would have happened if those huge companies went belly-up. And since those big stocks are way down, the government doesn't really have any of that power until they get out of the recession.
  3. For many years, I lay awake for hours thinking about time alone. Not everyday though, only when someone brings up the subject or gets a bit too poetic. I normally like letting my imagination run, but this is just unhealthy. Thanks Ken, now I won't get any rest
  4. When you get out of Student-land where everything gets payed for you and start living in the real world, maybe you'll start to understand these things. Nationalising them is a better option than letting them collapse while other banks have got money invested in them. Understand what? That the government disregarded all the signs of these collapses for two years and now bail them out with money they don't have? Of course bailing out an insurance company which nearly everyone in the US are leaning on is better than letting it collapse, but they could have prevented it. And there's no need to attack me personally, by the way
  5. Have fun paying those bailouts in tax money, Americans
  6. I used to do cross country, got a few medals when I was under 16.. but that was just cause I ate a ton of candy and took off full speed until the finish line 8-) Now I get tired after jogging 4 blocks
  7. Right after my friend's story of getting busted for drinking in a park after midnight, I leave for my house with a beer in my hands and cross the park separating our houses. Obviously the police were waiting, and called out to me to come their way. I was already half way through the park and they were at the end I entered, so I took a last drink of my MooseHead and BOLTED. I already ran away from public security before, and I knew I could outrun the cops too because I had the perfect path to do so. But then I heard the bark of a huge dog and I could've sworn they sent a dog after me. So I just ran faster, hopped a few fences and got home safely. Sadly, all the adrenaline ruined my buzz and I had trouble sleeping. #-o
  8. Talk it over with your girlfriend, not us. And if you want to take a break before college, this seems like it would be a good experience. I know how it feels to leave your family and friends behind, and if you're like me (the crazy-glue of the family), it's really tough to choose. Wish you the best.
  9. I take great pride in telling people how I turned one of "those kids" into a confident person :) So during my last year of high school I was an MC for a show, and the quirky curtain girl who nobody talked to because she was an odd-ball kept telling me "GOODLUCK" every time I went back on stage. After 30 times, it starts getting annoying. But since i'm such a nice guy (my mom agrees, too) I told her that if I wasn't with my girlfriend, I would definitely go out with her and that I found her cute. Luckily she didn't get all weird and kill my girlfriend or anything :ohnoes: But she gained the needed confidence and has a balanced life now. QUICK PUT ON THE COOL SHADES 8-) nice.
  10. Doesn't that just mean the government is buying out a private company? I don't see how it relates to communism. Here in Quebec, Hydro-Quebec is owned by our government, and is our main source of electricity. Does that make us communists too?
  11. Same here, and I don't see the point in making them smaller since I can never feel it in my pocket. Other than the battery being 50% less effective, i'll still be using the 1st gen nano for a looong time :D
  12. [hide=] Well if we're going to be completely scientific about there's no a zero percent chance, but there's never a zero percent chance of anything. Most of the black hole talk is scaremongering, and the papers published on it have been ripped apart by peer reviews. We're not doing anything that isn't already happening in the upper atmosphere. Why is the LHC a waste of money? Becuase you could spend the money on something more usefull that will physically help us. Still why waste 4.4 billion on an experiment that has slight chance of killing us? Why take the risk? What will we get from it? The risk is so minimal that I call it inexistant. They just want to scare you, especially The Sun since they can have sales this way. And on what would you say that money could have been? To me, this is not a waste of money. There are so many other things you can spend money on... But there is still a risk. Do they know what they are doing? Who knows what will happen during this experiment. I would rather not take the risk because the consequences could be very severe. [/hide] To put things into perspective, the entire world budget on war is over 1 trillion dollars (1000 billion), the USA alone contributing to more than 50% of that budget. And you guys whine that when more than 80 countries scrape up 4 billion and "waste" it on Science... c'mon. I'd gladly fork up 4 billion if it could help us understand our Universe, find answers to those age-old questions.
  13. hmmm.. woke up this morning.. WITH A SORE NECK! LOOKOUT EVERYBODY !!
  14. I'm going to bed now 1:37AM getting up at 6:30AM... for some reason I WANT LHC to fail :P (i need more than 5 hours beauty sleep)
  15. Lets see... 1- if it works, discoveries will lead us into the golden age of technology and understanding of our universe 2- they screw up and no-one is left to sue them
  16. OP; Your post has been disregarded because you don't enjoy sex or drugs. I mean, c'mon.. :wall: Go read Survivor by Chuck Palahniuk (fight club guy) plz.
  17. i'm not a fighter, and haven't gotten into a 1on1 fight ever. HOWEVER, when a guy starts strangling my helpless friend while all his friends wait for someone to fight back, I tend to tackle that [bleep] and give him a nice swift punch in the face. Idiots like that don't listen to words (unless I name my fists "word"). And usually his friends don't even bother to fight back with me, even if they could slaughter me, because their friend really deserved it.
  18. be confident and wear deodorant don't hold it against yourself if you don't get the job, I know how those types of employers think about young students but if he called you for an interview I think you got the job buddy

    Gravity

Maybe we will get an explanation in oh, 5 or so days? http://public.web.cern.ch/public/en/LHC/LHC-en.html Assuming we all don't get consumed into strange-matter :P
  20. Okay tip.it, here's the thing about Science... It's vocabulary is much different than general vocabulary. If I said "this is a fact", that would be the highest statement possible. However, in Science, facts are pocket change. You can't buy a popsicle with a dozen facts because facts NEED to be backed up with evidence. Theories, in science, are the highest possible statement. That's why it's called the Theory of Evolution. It SOUNDS like you have the choice to believe in it or not, but really it's a well established scientific "fact". Language used by people of a certain subject it extremely important if you want to start debating about it. Also, Science theories must always be able to be proven wrong. So let's say one guy proves fossils are just fancy rocks, it would destroy the entire theory of evolution. This is why Intelligent Design does not work and shouldn't be taught in high school science classrooms. If it was science, we should be able to have the option to prove it wrong. And since Intelligent Design cannot be contested, it's not considered a science. I mean, how the hell are we supposed to prove that there isn't a giant dude living in an imaginary dimension creating human life with his mind.
  21. When you're done with that one read The Grapes of Wrath by Steinbeck. Amazing writing. I'm re-reading East of Eden. Such beautiful poetic writing. Heh.. I just finished East of Eden, my new favorite book. I'm going out to buy his most renowned books later this week, I absolutely adore his style. I'm currently reading Chronicles of Bob Dylan but I'm speeding through it in order to start Grapes of Wrath :D
  22. At this one party I was dancing with this girl and before it got physical, she turned into a guy :?
  23. I chose miner like most people, and I still have 0 fishing exp on that char, lol
  24. When I was 14, my dad was concerned about what I was spending my time doing, because this was around the time where my dad was trying to make me into his little prodigy, feeding me books he thought was fit for me and telling me how I should control my time. So of course he didn't approve in playing Runescape, as it does not contribute anything productive in real life. However, when I showed him my plans of one of the first Steel Company's of Runescape, he liked my take on the game. I didn't touch a pickaxe or got near a furnace, and still I made profit for everyone in the company (especially me). If it hadn't been for my business-like way of playing, I'm sure I wouldn't even be reading Tip.It forums today. Then, once I made a nice sum money and left my steel company to the most productive miner, I started merchanting rares and built up a nice wealth. My dad would ask me why I didn't bother training my stats (by now he had a good idea of the game), and I told him that they meant nothing and that training them would be wasting my time. That's when I realized Runescape coins were also worthless, and quit at 16. (oh, had I known PayPal existed...) To all those who thing Runescape teaches you valuable life lessons, this is for you: When I started my paper-route, I discovered there were many stupid and incompetent people in my community. When I got my first minimum-wage job at Subway, I realized there a many stupid people all over my city. And when I played Runescape, I learned there are many stupid and incompetent people all around the world. And that is the only life lesson you'll learn in Runescape.
  25. honestly, just watch 1 hour of French TV each day. My mom teaches English as a second language in a primary school with an extremely low budget. (the main language being French or any other foreign language) Without proper books or enough teachers, it's pretty hard to teach in the ghetto (East-end Montreal). So one year she asked all her students to watch 1 hour of English television each day, and by grade 6 the kids were bilingual. So suck it up if you don't like French TV, princess, cause that's the best shot you got to being perfectly bilingual. The Olympics on Radio-Canada (French CBC) is a good place to start (like that other guy posted already). And if you can find a French friend, or one that wants to learn it as much as you do, ALWAYS speak to them in French. Speaking it is also (obviously) very important.
