September 14, 200817 yr Well a few weeks ago I went to the Rockstar Mayhem Festival and I was hanging out backstage with all the bands because this guy Kyle I know is a guitar tech for Dragon Force who I met through my dad. Well last night I was with Kyle and he offered me a job getting trained how to be a guitar tech, getting paid $450/Night all meals, alcohol, cigarettes and travel provided. The only downside is that it's traveling between 6-10 months out of the year and I'm not sure I can be away for that long. I need some advice here guys.
September 14, 200817 yr If you are under 26 years of age,, then don't take it, if over, take it. You should go to college first then do stuff like that. Are you sure 450 a night is accurate, or a week? [software Engineer] - [Ability Bar Suggestion] - [Gaming Enthusiast]
September 14, 200817 yr Author If you are under 26 years of age,, then don't take it, if over, take it. You should go to college first then do stuff like that. Are you sure 450 a night is accurate, or a week? I just turned 18 last Sunday, yes it's accurate I would get paid by the night, the guy Kyle makes anywhere from $1100-2100 every show. We talked about it for about 2 hours last night so I'm certain to every detail.
September 14, 200817 yr Hell take it! I know the right answer is supposed to be to go to college, but why go to college when the only reason you're going is to find a good job, which is already being offered? Ok education is a good thing and I'm not saying it isn't, but cmon $450 a night is astonishing. I also assume you like this kind of stuff so yup go with it.
September 14, 200817 yr I'm not sure if I could give advice, but tbh that sounds really awesome. But make sure you like doing it first, otherwise it would really suck :x EDIT: Also could you explain exactly what a guitar tech is? I don't have a single idea, and it would probably help to know if I end up playing gigs in the future :P
September 14, 200817 yr Author The only other things that are stopping me from accepting it are 1. My girlfriend of soon to be 3 years, she's been through EVERYTHING with me and I love her to death. 2. My Brothers, don't know if I could leave them. If those 2 things weren't playing a role I'd do it in a heart beat. Ugh. And basically what I would eventually do is I would tune guitars for any band, and if the guitarist in the band I was on tour with were to break a hand or something I would be able to go on stage and play for him, as well as sell guitars etc. Of course i'm not that good at guitar yet which is what Kyle would be teaching me to do so I could take over his job.

Lol that seems pretty easy. Tuning takes what, 30 seconds? :P And breaking a hand doesn't sound like it would happen too much. So $450 a night for that sounds amazing :P
September 14, 200817 yr Honestly, I would take it, this can make you a LOT of money for what sounds like very little work. Tumblr. Follow me!
September 14, 200817 yr Talk it over with your girlfriend, not us. And if you want to take a break before college, this seems like it would be a good experience. I know how it feels to leave your family and friends behind, and if you're like me (the crazy-glue of the family), it's really tough to choose. Wish you the best.
September 14, 200817 yr Man, that is awesome. Just think of it this way: Teachers go to college fro 4+ years and get paid about half as much as you will make per year, working three times as hard. That is an awesome job. I don't know how you could pass it up. If you go to college, chances are you would have to give up your girlfriend and brothers anyway. You can still keep in contact with them. Go for it!
September 14, 200817 yr If you don't take it, angry rednecks will beat the living [cabbage] out of you. Seriously, take it and save as much as possible, whenever you retire then you can get an education, with the added bonus of not owing the government, and yeah your girlfriend is more important than people on the internet. Listen to her. If you choose your beliefs/lifestyle simply based on what your parents want, then you are a weak minded individual and are not even worthy of calling yourself a person.
September 14, 200817 yr Take the job. Don't like it/get fired return home, or use the money you have made from the job to buy an apartment. Get a job. Work for a year. Go back to school. Honestly, taking the job offer is far more reasonable than going to school, as you can go abck to school at ANYTIME.

And me living on my own for a few years now, I will tell you that it is better than being with the familly. At the beginning it's a bit hard, but then you get used to it quite fast.
September 14, 200817 yr Go for it. The highest payed people I know are those who take the opportunity when it comes. ~Dan64AuSince 27 Aug 2002
September 14, 200817 yr If I was in your position, I wouldn't have any second thoughts. However, it would be wise to have a back-up plan if it falls to pieces. Cool.
September 14, 200817 yr Yup, definitely take it! How awesome : ] Your gf will probably be understanding, if you tell her that you decided to take the job. "Metal isn't about violence or faggy whiny lyrics. It isn't even about who plays the heaviest and fastest. It is about invoking a sense of wonder and magnitude that no other genre can depict."

September 14, 200817 yr Talk it over with your girlfriend. Show her you're in a serious dilemma over staying with her or leaving for a good job, then returning with a load of money and perhaps then making a good life for the both of you. If she's the kind of understanding woman every guy dreams of having, she'll have no problem realizing that your future is more important than your relationship, and that there will always be time for love when you come back with enough money to buy a nice apartment or save up for a house and treat her to a sort of lap of luxury when you return. [hide=]tip it would pay me $500.00 to keep my clothes ON :( :lol:But then again, you fail to realize that 101% of the people in this universe hate you. Yes, humankind's hatred against you goes beyond mathematical possibilities. That tears it. I'm starting an animal rebellion using my mind powers. Those PETA bastards will never see it coming until the porcupines are half way up their asses.[/hide]Apparently a lot of people say it. I own. http://linkagg.com/ Not my site, but a simple, budding site that links often unheard-of websites that are amazing for usefulness and fun.
September 14, 200817 yr I'd quit school if I was still at your age and offered to earn $400+ a day. Seriously. Especially since you get experience, it might lead to even further jobs after your stint is over. What's waiting for you if you decide to scrap this job, sit in college for 3 years? An entry level office job at $9 per hour for 8 hours a day, including brewing coffee & making reports for your superiors, putting up with abuse, lots of pressure... The only difference to a McDonald's job is that you get to sit around feeling important in a suit while actually doing nothing productive. Seriously, you've hit a gold mine. Take the chance. This is how you can build a good life, you've got extremely lucky.
September 14, 200817 yr for 450 a night you could probably bring your gf with you lol but seriously I would talk it over because being away from my gf for six months would be murder so I can see that being a really hard decision. Orthodoxy is unconciousnessthe only ones who should kill are those who are prepared to be killed.
September 14, 200817 yr Dump the girl, take the job, save alot of the money, PARTY WITH DRAGONFORCE@!@!
September 14, 200817 yr Dump the girl, take the job, save alot of the money, PARTY WITH DRAGONFORCE@!@! Well.. with your plan.. Dump her - Idk if he really loves her and she's awesome it's sad. Save alot of money - Woot for Moneys. PARTY WITH DRAGONFORCE! - If that doesn't make you immedietly say yes I don't know what can.. Seriously that would make my decision then and there.. Oh and EDIT for the lolz - and if the guitarist in the band I was on tour with were to break a hand or something I would be able to go on stage and play for him GL learning Herman Li's parts...  the trick is to balance all of these methods to get 99 and either play real life or train another skill while farming. 635th to 99 Farming 12/16/07
September 14, 200817 yr College is overrated these days. You spend 20,000 dollars so you start at an internship below your peers that started working when they graduated - happened to a lot of my family. But, take your girlfriend with you. LOVE. LOVE WILL BRING US TOGETHER. catch it now so you can like it before it went so mainstream
