I have an interview for a job I applied for online at Tim Horton's (The biggest coffee company in Canada) tomorrow at 11am. As you can see from my resume, this would be my first real job. I've never been to a job interview either, and I really need some advice. The guy called my house at around 5pm today (oh and by the way, he said his name but I forgot it, smart eh?) and I didn't really expect a call because of my crappy resume and also because I only applied yesterday. Maybe they really need employees or something..

I really want the job. It's near my place and I know loads of people from that town. I dunno what to answer at the obvious questions he'll ask like "Tell me about yourself?" Do I say stuff about my personal life because I've really never done anything that counts as an actual 'job'?

I need some advice please.. :S

Look casually good. Nice jeans or Khakis along with a nice polo/collard shirt will work nicely. Stay away from jewlrey. Also, if they ask you any questions like: "You come in for your shift and you see your friend stuffing money down his pockets from the register. What do you do?", make sure you answer that you will tell a manager immediatly. They LOVE that.

If that ask you about yourself, don't ramble. Be short and sweet.

If they ask you why you want the job, tell them that you love the place and everyone is friendly and you'd love to be a part of it.

Flatter them, but don't be over the top.

You can get jobs in Canada at that age? I'm two months younger than you and have to wait till next year to start applying -.-

Anyway, since I'm your age I can sort of relate to trying to impress people dispite your age. I think you should weat a decent outfit, like say Khakis and a collared shirt. Nothing too fancy; you're not applying for an executive position. But definately enough to show that you're not just some kid off the street who needs money to impress his girlfriend (even if that's the case, you gotta look more sophisticated! ;) ). I don't know much about resumes, but can you put your GPA's and other academic info there? It looks nice to have an honors student with prestigious regocnition working at your place, it sounds like a good way to impress the boss. If you can put academic information about you in there, it's probably a good idea to do so.

Other than that, good luck. I'm gonna watch this thread vigilantly for tips when I apply for a job ::'

tip it would pay me $500.00 to keep my clothes ON :(
But then again, you fail to realize that 101% of the people in this universe hate you. Yes, humankind's hatred against you goes beyond mathematical possibilities.
That tears it. I'm starting an animal rebellion using my mind powers. Those PETA bastards will never see it coming until the porcupines are half way up their asses.

Apparently a lot of people say it. I own.

Defecate beforehand.

Make your own food.

Don't take off your pants.

By the way, I wish I could get a job. However, you're young and applying to a place like that? Won't have much trouble.

catch it now so you can like it before it went so mainstream

Yep, you can start at the age of 14. ;)

My tips are:

A dress shirt and tie

Come early or on time

Take a shower beforehand, use deodorant, etc.

Just try your best, but not too hard.

I found what I'm wearing, my black school khaky's and a white polo shirt. I'd wear a tie but I don't own one lol. Thanks for the advice. I want to try to impress him but I don't wanna look too prepared, 'cause it's Tim Horton's.

The site is http://www.timhortons.com, gl. My GPA is my average right? If that's right then I made the right choice not adding it, my grades suck. I don't try at school unless I like the class.. miiight have to start changing that.

Thanks!

Some Canadian provinces *cough*Alberta*cough* allows you to work at 12.
omg  anyways everyone here is saying act casual tht is kind of right but u want to seem freindly and seem like ur excited while wanting to give tim hortains a good name by u having good servise also when u talk us words like yes sir, yes ma'am, not ya never say yah also smile when u walk in

and the most important tip if it is a guy shake is hand if he offers t if not them u will look like u will give no respect twords the other staff or the customers, as shaking his hand will show self respect, and respect twords the person who is qustioning u

also very important if there is something on there face like a mole dont look at it never say anything negative twords the person who questions u also

be confident and wear deodorant

don't hold it against yourself if you don't get the job, I know how those types of employers think about young students but if he called you for an interview I think you got the job buddy

1. Wear a banana suit.

2. Eat beans and prune juice for breakfast.

3. Show up at least 15 minutes late.

4. Walk in and say "Sorry there wasn't any toilet paper in your bathroom."

5. They'll probably ask you to terminate pi and such. Do so.

6. Shake hands AFTER sneezing into them.

Don't do any of that and you'll do fine :P

1.) Don't set the interviewer's desk on fire, set their hair on fire instead.

2.) Laugh at every question.

3.) Do the chicken dance at some point.

4.) DON'T SWEAT!!!

5.) Look them in the eye.

For the resume, a good idea would be to put the years of what you did beside the things you did as well. It's also a good idea to put the year you're in right now in school. A 3rd reference would also be great :). I could rewrite mine to show you what I mean (yeah, I accidentaly deleted it, even in the backup -.-, needs to be redone anyway)

For the Interview, what they have said about what you should wear is good. Shake hands before and after the interview. If he asks to talk about yourself, name some of your qualities. I guess other people's advice is pretty good too.
