  1. You said some pures are secondary accounts so therefore jagex has no reason to dislike them. But what about pures that are primary accounts? You didn't address that.
  2. Mods, at your discretion I would have no problems if you locked my thread or merged it with the other one because it's gone so off topic from the original question and is basically on the same train of discussion as the other thread so it's kind of redundant now.
  3. Yeah, but the issue the admins have is that they don't want to be responsible for bad things happening. In this way it's completely out of their hands and people at the same time are satisfied. There's no need to put all that effort into it - that'd be like a deloriagod inc type forum and I personally don't see that type of a project to be worth all of that effort trying to find people to sign up rather than having one thread here. Honestly I'm debating this because of the principle behind it now. I just don't agree with the basic premise behind the rule that one bad exception should spoil it for the rest. I believe in personal accountability/responsibility and don't think the forum administers should take such a parental role. There's a difference between maintaining safety and overprotection.
  4. Xewleer, Christians aren't hated. In America at least they're the only truly accepted group. People won't vote for an atheist and most fear the other religions. But that's because Christians are the majority in the US. But I haven't ever seen any persecutions of Christians, ever. They seem to be the ones doing the persecuting onto others who don't share their true beliefs. As my new favorite quote goes, "The most dangerous people on the planet are those who are convinced that they know the truth." But to answer the original question about other religions, the obvious answer is because they're in the minority. And religions like Judaism which I follow aren't that hostile towards opposing viewpoints. I mean I've been taught about God and everything, but as a reform Jew we just have entirely different viewpoints. We're not taught that other people in other religions need to be saved. Our values are just completely different and less conflicting. A lot of reform Jews accept evolution and everything, so there's less to argue about. PS: Bubsa and Shadow, I love your humor. :P
  5. Except...it's not here. And it's not under TIF's jurisdiction. It's in another house with another alarm system TIF isn't responsible for. The key just happens to be in this house, but it's entirely the user's responsibility whether or not to use the metaphorical key (Our side of the argument can use analogies too :P ).
  6. Could we have a thread (discussion included so it's not considered advertising) linking to a specialized outside forum where we post pictures?
  7. Quotes are great because they can be taken out of context and taken for only the quote itself. Whatever the person did outside of the quote doesn't matter because it's only about the quote, not the person's name. It's about the words and the meaning behind them, not how the quoted personally acted out what he said. As long as the words are unoffensive I can't understand what the problem is, because if certain quotes aren't allowed because of an impurity of the person I don't think any quotes could be allowed, because nobody really has a perfect clean record.
  8. Its a shame you had to ruin your post by writing that bit extra i olded. Other than that it was a good post. I think he was sarcastically mocking how he sees the admin's stance to be. TheSith, do you think it's possible those problems only occurred for a reason specific to what was going on with the staff at the time? I'm only saying this because at most other communities there aren't problems, and based off this community compared to others that do allow it, I doubt there would be problems(although I guess you have the experience of it which overrides my intution). Do you think we could add this extra board but have stricter regulations like requiring a certain post count to join so we don't get the described lurking predators that sign up on child-friendly forums to scavenge pictures? Again, age, maybe proving you're a certain age by posting your picture to a mod to gain access to the board before they add you, those kind of things. I think if we really want this to work out there are ways we can do it without just giving up on it altogether. And TheSith, it seems the reason people still aren't satisfied with what you said is because of the ambiguity to it. We're told it's for our safety because of predators, then we're told there were issues with the staff, but it just seems all over the place. Do you think you could give a general example of something similar or analogous that could happen to what happened with the staff so we at least could be satisfied with some closure if this doesn't go into effect?
  9. Does anyone else find a lot of the lookalikes of the opposite sex attractive (I'm assuming if so it's the case because people like people who look similar to them)?
  10. My ultimate belief, then, is in non-absolute morality. I believe people can have their own belief that their morals are absolute, as long as they respect others morals and acknowledge the possibility that while they believe their morals to be absolute truth there is a chance they aren't. I don't think there's one magical set of morals out there that will send you to heaven while the rest won't, so I don't believe in absolute morality. I think as long as you use good moral judgment, if there is a God, he would accept atheists if they lived moral lives close enough to his objective morals set down for followers.
  11. I never said your belief was wrong. I said it's arrogant to claim your belief is the only belief that is right. I'm acknowledging your belief and I'm not claiming it's wrong. I'm saying it's arrogant to claim only your own belief is right. That's a point of view, but I'm not here to defend atheists specifically. I also find the claim that "there is no god" pretty arrogant too. That's why I find the only real objective stance is a stance of agnosticism, or at least being religious but acknowledging the possibility that there is no god. I was just concluding that I think morality can depend on the person, and that people shouldn't be criticized or told that their morals don't exist because they weren't told specifically what they are.
  12. That doesn't quite fit the definition of arrogance. I know that you are trying to make a point about Christians being arrogant because it is true very often, but Insane has never conducted himself in a way someone could call arrogant - and you creating your own definition of the word is not going to work. I consider the view that the only real set of morals are those of Christianity to be pretty arrogant. Everyone else does have morals, and to be told that these morals don't exist or aren't objective is a pretty arrogant thing to say, in my opinion. I mean I can understand that a belief in Christianity implies that it's your way or the highway, but I don't understand why people can't rise above that. Atheists acknowledge that everyone can have different moral views. I'm Jewish and I think Christianity's morals are as valid as Jewish morals as are an atheist's morals, because I truly believe morals depend on the person. But we've had this debate a few too many times now, so if what I just said is challenged I won't reply to it because, again, we've had this same exact debate before on another thread, the issue of morality.
  13. Here's a very interesting Newsweek poll on religion. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/17879317/site/newsweek/ Interesting excerpts:
  14. I realize you're trying to be satirical, and can understand you're trying to be funny, but you're taking only the symantecs of the word 'lure' into account and making jagex seem hypocritical when they really aren't. Nonetheless it's a nice job. :)

    Who is Jesus?

Adam, age 18 He might have existed, I kind of doubt it - at least not in the way it is biblically described. If he did exist I'm sure he went through all they said he did, minus the supernatural stuff. I just think even back in history if there were records of a Jesus that we don't know that it was this Jesus, or whether or not he did do any of those magic tricks, just because a lot of people had the same name.
  16. For me this'll make good 'homework music,' since vocals distract me. 100+ songs never gets old. :)
  17. That zreomusic site is amazing, great find Adam =D> Thanks. I'm still loving its existence too. You can also download the songs. :)
  18. I just found this amazing page with orchestra versions of most of the songs from the Zelda series: http://www.zreomusic.com/listen Also since I'm in link posting mode, I really recommend vgmusic.com. It has midi's from most video games and is an awesome site for video game music.
  19. Yeah, a delayed response is basically a no response. I still think we should go with my idea, and can't see any reason it wouldn't work since it completely fits with all of the current rules.
  20. How do you suppose that? I would say hope. If you're poor/dying/have nothing in life and suicide is a sin, religion is what keeps you going. Otherwise a lot of people would have nothing to live for.

    Braces

You'll be sore and think that you can't take another day of them when you get them on, but you really do get used to them. Just listen to what they say - don't have gum or hard candy or anything and you'll get them off faster.
  22. Oh, ok. That's comforting. Thanks for the news. I'll be sure to alert the internets. You could learn hebrew and get it straight from the most uncorrupted source, you know. You never said why the Da Vinci code was 'bull' though. You just said it was, then you said your credible chief archiver friend said we shouldn't analytically think about the bible. I'm not saying either way about that book though. I see it more as hypothetical entertainment. Since you even brought it up it's obvious that the book is somewhat threatening to you and you do therefore take it seriously. Well that's what's wrong with organized religion. When the religious heads need to kill in whatever period of time, they convince their people that it's for a holy reason and therefore ok. That's the great thing about Christianity. You can get away with whatever you want as long as you later repent. I sometimes wonder if people behave morally because they fear God's wrath or because they just know it's the right thing to do.
  23. But we're still in a society that fosters religion to grow. I'm referring to how society can change. I'm questioning if one day we'll have enough scientific 'answers' that religion used to be able to answer, so there is no longer a psychological need for religion.
  24. I'm not really talking about one religion just being overthrown. I mean more of a gradual trend over a few centuries where somehow the hole everyone has and fills with religion no longer exists for whatever reason, maybe from a scientific find or something, and people just no longer feel a need for a higher power. That's very similar to reform Judaism. We're not 'demanded' to worship, although there are a few holidays where we're supposed to. I mean it is a religion. But one principal is to be "partners with God," which I always liked the idea of. Not fear him or whatever. Also Jews do believe everyone goes to a type of heaven, and that there isn't a hell.
  25. Simple...It won't. Show me your degree in genetic engineering from an accredited university, or give some shred of reasonable proof, and I might believe you. You misread the article because these sheep weren't genetically engineered. They had human cells transplanted into their own organs but that doesn't change their genetics or make them 15% more human.
