I don't think the gaps are that important. I believe you should focus on what God wants to say to us, not what he doesn't want to say to us. Sure, you might find pleasure in new scientific discoveries but they don't often give me any directions on how to live my life. Why do you need direction? Why do you need to be told how to live your life? You honestly think a life following directions is better than a life of exploration?

Not the "is atheism a religion?" argument again. I don't consider a lack of religion to be a religion. I'm referring to a godless society here. That does not infer a state of religion.

Well, the serie's dieing which sounds good because it shouldn't have been so long, it should've been short and simple like Star Wars that's why it got high ratings and over 8 billion dollars sold in merchandise $ $ The hell short and simple like Star Wars :uhh: 30 years is not short. In addition to that, I have no idea why he said the series is dying. I'm assuming he hasn't read the books because the way they're written everything is constantly rising to a higher level of intensity and all of the books have been leading up to this final climax in the last book. The point still is kind of hard to argue since it's an opinion. But he is wrong about Star Wars being short and simple. Like you said, over 30 years of film, but there's also more star wars books than harry potter books, and there's only 1 movie difference between the two film sagas.

Wasn't that forced though? I'm referring specifically to a type of society that acknowledges the possibility of a god but chooses to reject organized religion.

Yeah, of course send it in. I really like that, and the lighting's great too.

I was wondering what you guys think will become of religion. Do you think it's human nature to need a god, and therefore we will always have religion? I've asked teachers I've had to try to name me Godless societies but none have been able to. Yet in this day and age it seems like the growing trend is towards atheism. As we progress more and more scientifically, and we assume science continues to disprove and clash with elements of religion, can it be inevitable that religion through the centuries may one day just not be needed by society? I know of no precedent, and it might be so ingrained in human nature to create gods (not referring to current religions because those are exceptions obviously so don't tear this sentence apart), like all societies through time have done to satisfy a basic human need. My question, to sum it up, is basically this. Do you think eventually people won't feel a need for religion anymore? Can it ever be disproved in this sense scientifically? Or is it so ingrained in people of a hope of an afterlife that only religion can promise? Do you guys think there could ever be a time where religion ceases to be?

I don't really remember getting too many death piles except from when I pk'ed occasionally, but I think what I did was left click immediately so I would get there first and get a random item, and the split second after I left clicked I would right click to selectively pick.

Above average runescaper? I really doubt and your spelling speaks for itself. Just because firefox says there aren't any mistakes in your writing, that doesn't mean it's always true! Example: What's the next thing you are going to say? That you are mature? It's a typo you moron it should say i sold and why do you go around finding my posts looking for a typo? You're a hypocrite IMO and I don't rely on Firefox's spell check i know it sucks. Besides you're sayimg I'm immature but you have a messed up penguin avatar (at least mine is from something) Abyssal, you're completely off topic here. I for one do think you're incredibly immature, but that aside, what does going off on a tangent about penguin avatars being 'messed up' compared to avatars that are 'from something'? Rodl, I'd just stop trying with this guy, because he's bringing you to his level. I know I'm just adding to your guys' needless to the side arguing, but seriously, nobody wants to read that nonsense you're both throwing back and forth at each other.

Oh, Haha! I get it! Because they used the word chimera in the article! Nice observational humor there! You're awesome, really. You took one scenario, and applied it out of context to another hypothetical situation! How clever! So anyways, how about we not compare scientific breakthroughs to mythological stories? We're not going to have any of this: from transplanting cells (not changing genetic code here as you've been led to believe) so how about you come up with your own conclusions rather than basing judgment on a giant extrapolation that led you astray in the first place because of bad reporting.
-
I think a lot of you guys are seriously misunderstanding this. The sheep is 100% sheep. It hasn't been genetically engineered. It just has a lot of human cells transplanted into its own organs. This sheep couldn't exist if we switched around 15% of its chromosomes/genes with those of a human. Why does everyone want to stretch this into a "oh no we're making human-animal hybrids! What's next, a 50/50 walking talking sheep? Let's end all of this right now!" To be honest, the article does call the thing a chimera in the very first sentence. That sets the whole tone. Yeah, the article was really biased too and shouldn't have even created that tone. That's just bad reporting to influence readers like that.

I will admit that I forget nearly all of my dreams. Nontheless, after I wake up I remember I had one vaguely, and throughout the day I remember not the dream, but the five minutes after I woke up when I was trying to recap the dream. Basically, I remember my remembering the dream, and thus I remember I had a dream (I do not remember the dream itself, just that I had it). Maybe I don't get what you're saying, I dunno, but I don't feel convinced that we have to have a dream every single night :| . I was just refuting you saying that we don't just forget a dream. I remember reading in a given night most people do have 5-6 dreams, and we're lucky to remember one of them. Here's some sites I just found saying this: http://www.faqs.org/faqs/dreams-faq/par ... ion-5.html http://www.dreamdoctor.com/faq.shtml Not saying they're the ultimate authority or reputable, just that I found them on the top of a quick google search.

Trivia Time :) Actually it is not possible to "not" have a dream, you always have one. Sure you may think that you didn't have one, but you did. You just can't remember it. Also did you know that dreams only take 5 seconds, but they seem so long :D You don't just "forget" you had a dream. Details are near impossible to remember, but for about five minutes after I've woken up, I still remember foggy details, and know when I've had a dream. Plenty of dreams from my youth, especially the scary ones, I always remember. One I had when I was five where I looked out the second story window, and saw a giant serpentine dragon looking me right in the face. I've never forgotten that after over a decade, and every detail of the dream is crystal clear (there was lighting, dark clouds, it was windy, trees were blowing left and right, I was in my own house in my room in the dream, the dragon was dark green and it's neck was arched down towards me as it went around to the side of the house towards my window, it was higher than my house, need I go on?). I also never forgot that my little brother was born in that year o_O. Anyways, I get a dream maybe once a week usually, but not often. Where's the source for your point that we have a dream every single night, or that we forget our dreams? Does it have any good evidence and/or support? You do forget most of your dreams. You just don't know that you had them. To answer your question that we know everyone dreams, we do know that everyone goes through REM sleep, which is where dreams take place. Idk whether or not that's a good enough reason for you or not though. But I do still stand firm in saying we forget most of our dreams. I often will have a dream and want to remember it and plan to write it down, but when I grab the paper and start writing already most of the dream faded away that fast. @panda: I've heard that dreams actually are realtime.

Yup, they're finally together (assuming this isn't an early April Fool's joke). http://marioandsonic.sega-europe.com/en/index.html I can see this game turning out on either extreme. Really terrible or really good. It's hard to imagine we're finally seeing the day where Sonic and Mario face head to head though. Who knows, this could mean good things for Super Smash Dojo too.

Dreams are amazing. I really recommend to everyone that you keep a dream journal and write down what you dreamed about every time you wake up. You'll remember literally 10x more dreams because they usually fade away from your memory moments after waking up unless you immediately write them down, and then when you reread your journal it's like viewing a dream photo album. Anyway, my best dreams have been lucid ones. My favorites have been one when I was flying somewhat dragonball z style with friends around some city, a few different ones where I was floating around in space and there were cosmic looking beautiful waves of these colors that I've never really seen or experienced outside of those dreams. I also enjoy ones I've had when I was younger when I would get a new pet puppy or something like that. Dreams where I talk with deceased relatives are great too, because for that brief period of time, it feels 100% real and is extremely comforting being able to talk to them, and they say the exact things I would expect them to. Dreams are amazing not only for the experience, but I do think they're psychologically healing as well.

I completely agree. I have always been against Eugenics. Not just for religious reasons (although they are there). But this will lead to a class divide among other things. And yes, humans have a BAD way of taking power too far. Mary Shelley, anyone? Mankind is not ready, or deserving of Eugenics. Maybe one day when we don't have money and everything is equal...oh wait, that's never going to happen. I'm against genetically engineering humans aesthetically, and agree there needs to be a line drawn, but the line doesn't have to be drawn anywhere near here. We're talking about saving lives here. I know it sounds like a generic rebuttal but if we have the technology to save hundreds of lives of people who need organs but are on waiting lists and would otherwise die, why should we halt this progress? It's stupid to just say that you don't like this direction so we should stop altogether. Should we apply that to all technologies, not just genetic engineering? We're building robots now, but robots are capable of turning on us and killing us! That actually used to be a widespread fear, just like the new trend is to be irrationally fearful of genetic engineering. We're a long ways from all the hypothetical things you guys are worrying about, and in no way should those fears halt the progress we're currently on the brink of making.

I'd ask specifically for original ones we know about. Spend an hour looking online and you'll find 90% of most common april fool's pranks.

If you've called it "quitting" you haven't really quit. Not naturally at least. People really "quit" when they gradually wean away from the game until they've lost all interest. They haven't really quit when they, as an example, get hacked, and scream "WHAT A WASTE OF TIME I QUIT THIS FOREVER AND EVER BYE EVERYONE!" - In this case they're just in denial and angry but they'll be back because it was too sudden of a change. If you call it quitting, you haven't really quit. Unless you have really strong willpower, you end up coming back, until you gradually fade away from the game and never officially quit. Saying you "quit" is like saying you're putting an addiction on hold for as long as you can. "Quit" itself is a stupid term when applying it to runescape. Runescape isn't something you're "on" or "off" of. You quit a job. You quit smoking. You don't quit a video game.

Oh, the lengths people will go to seem not cheap/socially acceptable. I'm sure if he went with people he really knew well he would have no qualms about not paying 17 dollars for a coke.
-
That was pretty stupid of you - honestly I don't see how you could have been forced to pay $17 for a coke by them. I would have dropped 3 dollars and let them figure out the rest. I never split bills by percentages under normal circumstances because I usually order much cheaper dinners than people I'm with. I'm not saying I get less than what I need - I just don't add on all those extra side things nobody needs.

Evil eye, get outta there! :notalk: I've known about this soon after POH's were released, it's been around awhile. As a rule, in general just don't wear valuables when you're fighting against people you don't know in houses because there are still bugs that can be abused.

My Quest Cape is older then your tip.it account, how do you do it? Your like my idol in many ways as I am training for 99 attack :D If I didn't have to work I would spend more time here I love tip.it one of the many reasons I still play RuneScape, Every brake I have had tip.it would bring me back. Pick a different idol. Or better, 'pave your own path.' I wouldn't try to mimic getting 1k posts in 6 months though. That's just posting overboard and when you get to that state you're just way beyond the realm of moderation. I have 4k posts but that's been over almost 3 years I want to say? If you want to be recognized, all you need to do is just stick around and voice your opinion on different subjects. It's the quality of your posts, not the quantity, that gets you noticed/remembered in a good way.

Based on what was said here: Would it be possible for admins to create a private pictures board where we can sign up in the usergroup menu or straight from off topic? The group would be considered private since it's not a default public room. Why not add it as an extra subforum to off topic that you have to either join in the usergroups menu like NL used to be, have a button in off topic to click on, or make it so you have to pm an admin to get board access? I think this would satisfy both sides of the argument.

If you can't find meaning to living, at least live to have fun. Just enjoy consciousness. It's the greatest gift, so use yours right. Try to change your perspective, because while what you wrote might seem true in your situation, if you try changing things around, looking at things differently, you'll find more meaning to life. It'd be hard, given your current view, but you really need something to 180 your views.

Dang it, you beat me to it. I was going to post that! Fairy Ring and Shantay are faster than that new way, so it's not really a major shortcut. There's also a city in rs called Mos Le'Harmless.
