It happens to a lot of people. It's dark and everything, you hear a noise or see a movement, then your mind starts racing because you don't know what it was. You want to make sense of it so you come up with your own explanations for it - just those explanations often are pretty illogical. My advice is to just acknowledge that you're overreacting, and convince yourself these things don't exist.

I have no problems with snakes, unless they're untamed ones in the wild. I've got no issues letting those animal people put the 10+ ft snakes on my neck and shoulders though. They feel pretty cool. :P

Weekly Poll: If you use other RuneScape help sites...
Adam007 replied to Kiara_Kat's topic in General Discussion
It's not even debatable that there are other sites with much better quest guides than what tip it has. Other than that, what guides tip it does have, most sites don't rival. On the services end of things it's pretty lacking though, but that's not really what this site is about. -
From all the reviews I've heard it was horrible. I used to like Mario Party games, but I never get around to playing them with more than another person anymore, and I can't stand single player. Waiting through all that dialogue and computers taking 2 minute turns you can't skip just takes too long. I was thinking about giving this at least a rent, but from what I've heard, I'll pass on it.

I learned how to surf in Hawaii. It was a blast. :P

Display your Runescape stats on Facebook!
Adam007 replied to runesmithie's topic in General Discussion
It's a cool app, but like most others, I see no reason to mesh my social appearance with video game stats I have. Not really a great combination imo. -
Yeah, exactly. Keep in mind who's primarily bragging here. Teenage males who view everything as a competition. People set goals mainly in relation to what other players have. It's all about being the best. And when people get a taste of being the best in something, they'll let everyone know. Doesn't matter how big or how small, it's just human nature. Why do half of conversations while training start with "str lvl?" - people size each other up, and if they're the higher level, another chance to brag about it.
-
Theoretically there's no real limit to what they can do. Just keep adding in more armor increases for every weapon increase, all the while making older items obsolete. But it's ok, everyone's happy when xp comes faster!

The vast majority of adults, even though they're not being yelled at like kids are to get off rs, actually have things in life called responsibilities. To suggest that adults have more time for runescape than their children do is ridiculous. Adults have full time jobs, and when they're not working, they're taking care of their kids. The only people who have this excess of time you're talking about are people 18-24 who haven't really solidified a family or anything yet. The bottom line though is that kids are the ones with the hours and hours of free time. Kids mostly are the ones who get the high levels. And high levels are incorrectly correlated with maturity/age. People then assume all high levels to be intelligent, and when they're not, they get frustrated and then make some rant about how bad the community is. Sure, a lot of adults have high levels too, but most adults are online a lot less so they have to manage their time on rs a lot more efficiently.
-
I think most of you are overgeneralizing. When it comes to runescape, your status depends on how much time you have. Most kids have more time to level than adults do. I could go on but this article addresses your exact question specifically and refutes a lot of common arguments explaining why kids in rs aren't that bad.

Harry Potter theme park to come to Universal Studies
Adam007 replied to sephiroth_king's topic in Off-Topic
Because the only reason that it's being made is for people besides J.K. Rowling to make money off her genius. I like Harry potter, and you can be assured that I will have the last book read before I go to bed the day it is released, but it is just plain overkill that people are trying to take advantage of great ideas and just use them selfishly to make money. As a writer myself who is one day hoping to sell big, I would not personally let anything like this happen to my ideas. On another note, but supporting the whole corporate corruption theme, ever heard of the Pendragon series by DJ MacHale? I personally think they are better than the Harry Potter books but there aren't even any film adaptations of them and the 8th installment was just published. Money-hungry business giants just want more money, and they turn to someone else's ideas that have been massively successful to accomplish their ends. It's called capitalism. The stuff sells. And people enjoy it. You're mistaking corruption for good opportunity. It's being made for the same reason Disney world and Universal Studios were made. There's a theme that's popular enough to make an artificial world about in which people will enjoy going to. Nobody's being taken advantage of here. Again you're missing the point that these places are made forfun and to have a good time. -
Harry Potter theme park to come to Universal Studies

Yeah, they're all so taking advantage of us poor customers who have no choice but to become victim to their villainous corporate ways. Poor JK Rowling too. I'm sure she's so upset that they've distorted her vision...all in the name of a theme park. :( Yeah, probably should shut down Disney World too (similarly, another stupid idea). Having places where you can take the kids just isn't worth it in today's world, what with there being all these pedophiles on the loose taking children away from their parents. Seriously though. Why are you guys so cynical over a theme park? Did you miss going through that stage of your life and now have something against it? I'd love to hear an explanation towards why the majority of you guys are against the establishment of a place for both children and adults, filled with magic and fun entertainment for all ages. I know that sounds cliche, but those places are fun! -

I think it's an awesome idea. I'm getting so tired of the automatic viewpoint all of you take on things like this, the "ohh god, this? Don't ruin a good thing!" Theme parks are fun. They'll capture Harry Potter's world to the best of their ability. It won't tarnish anything. Theme parks have rides and shows, hence fun. Unless of course you're amongst the "too cool to care" crowd. Given the lifestyle of a lot of you guys though, that'll be the most common response. But it's ok. Just stay inside on your computers where you create your own environment. -
So we're moving back to 1940, and can only suggest to bring one item with us, one word. The conditions are that we have little time to live because there won't be any food or water, plus we're blind? I really don't know. I'll get back to this and edit it in if I come up with anything even remotely witty, given this insane prompt.

Yeah, I'm not playing my wii nearly as much as I'd like to either. It must have been over a month since I last used it. I could go any amount of time without playing a console game. Computers, on the other hand, I start missing stuff after a few weeks.

I don't know, I've always hated every Republican until Ron Paul. Although people are saying he should just run Libertarian. But still, look him up, watch some of what he says on youtube. A lot of democrats even are really liking this guy.
-
I thought about doing that thing, but it's way too one dimensional for me to waste the time for it to tell me what I already know. I took the quiz posted later and got libertarian/moderate, really close to liberal though. Viktor, I think I got the exact same position you did actually. I thought you were a big Guliani fan though? Glad you did switch to Obama - he'll have my vote in '08. And Ron Paul for the republican primary. I just wish there was someone right inbetween the two(is there?).

How old are you? (this has a point, I think)

If you're complaining about and so against all the attention he gets and doesn't deserve, why are you being so hypocritical by making a thread about him?

dont talk rubbish man. terrorism is VERY different from communism They're both alike in that politicians use their associated fears to further their own agenda. How can you not see parallels between the red scare and now? Obviously both are entirely different labels, but most Americans only know them as the enemy.
-
Terrorists are the new communists. It's all about creating fear in America. We'll always have to elect the right leaders to keep the terrorists away. We'll always have to pour billions into fighting them. Nothing's helped the republican party more lately than these made up terrorists. Giuliani's new line is to elect him or expect another 9/11. The media obsesses over terrorists, and America buys into all of it. Sure it happens, but it doesn't need to be this national obsession and be our forefront issue. There are more important things.

An amazing new technology, Microsoft Surface
Adam007 replied to madcap_laughs's topic in Tech and Computers
It sounds cool how it recognizes objects and scans credit cards just by placing your card on it. Right now rather than for homes it sounds better for businesses though. Using that thing for over ten minutes would hurt your back a lot. -
Any1 plz help me! im keep on havin nightmares....
Adam007 replied to Dark_History's topic in Off-Topic
^ I'd stay away from sleeping pills. Number one you don't want to become dependent on them, plus they alter the way you sleep, and you don't get enough REM or something I've read. If after a few weeks this is still a constant problem just see a professional, because that irrational anxiety must be rooted somewhere. -
As your intro implies, beating runescape differs from person to person. Based on this, once the individual feels they've done everything worth doing and finally quits, they've beat runescape. I know you don't really want these cliche responses, but obviously there's no concrete answer to "how to beat runescape." There will always be new updates, there will always be small things to do. If anyone tries to "beat rs," they'll end up driving themselves crazy. Like real life, you can't flat out win. You do what you can, enjoy yourself, and at the end you just convince yourself you beat it because of the good ride.

Hey, if you're interested, I've got an uncle who can sell you some very reasonably priced volcano insurance. You know, just in case. (Yeah, that probably doesn't help. If you keep dreaming about this even though you know it's impossible, I'd see a real psychologist)
