  1. Turn to your TV and change the channel, FOX isn't an intelligent way of gathering information. Anyway, I'm for Obama. Hillary, as stated above, is a hypocrite who will say anything to pease the crowd in front of her, so I don't honestly understand her motivers fully, and I'm not willing to take that sort of risk. I never watch fox news simply because its "pop" news. I get my news from a handfull of other sources and Ive done my own research on Obama. The truth about him is that during part of his childhood he was raised in Jakarta, Indonesia where he attended a muslim school. Is there anything wrong with that? No....but what makes it so interesting is that in recent years America has become very distant with muslim nations and muslim terrorism has become a big issue for us. Anyways, I agree with you on Hillary. She will please whomever she is speaking to. Do you have any idea even remotely how ignorant you sound in saying you wouldn't vote for someone because of his/her name? And his schooling is not an issue here. If anything it would help this nation become more open with muslim people, because after 9/11 they've been facing a lot of unnecessary stereotyping. How can you say you've done your own research on Obama but when citing why you wouldn't vote for him you just mention his name and his schooling as reason enough to leave this country if he got elected? It might just be me but do you really think that's any kind of valid reason whatsoever? So without wars, we'd all be destroyed? You think if we never invaded Iraq and started this war the terrorists would have bombed us? It really terrifies me that the Bush administration and the news have pushed this fear mongering into peoples' minds this far. You don't think it's warped at all thinking that the only way for us to have peace is to be in a constant state of war? Seriously both of you need to read 1984. Anyways... to the topic. Clinton - Overly polarized and sides with issues not on what is right, but what gives her the most political leverage. She's not what this country needs. Obama - I'd love for Obama to win the democratic ticket and plan on voting for him. I think he has a great vision and a necessary fresh perspective. Other candidates I'm interested in... Ron Paul - I've never liked any republicans until now. Probably because he's more of a libertarian. But he speaks the truth constantly and consistently. If a republican were to win, I would love it to be Paul. I'd prefer Ron Paul way more than Clinton for office. Bloomberg & Gore - Neither have announced any runs for the presidency but both I think out of any candidate out there would turn this country around in the best possible way. If either runs they'll have my vote.
  2. Nothing beats Death is the Road to Awe. Such an amazing song.
  3. Edward Scissorhands, LOTR, Star Wars, Jurassic Park, Gladiator, The Fountain, Requiem for a Dream, and Pirates have some of my favorite movie soundtracks.
  4. At first I didn't think a questionairre type subforum wouldn't be enough, but it can be more than just "what-if's," but still limited in the sense that it's not bridging towards help and advice. It would be great for containing all of these opinion threads and would clean up a good portion of the general board. While it's not separation to the extent I'd like to see, I think it would be a good first step if you are to make any change at all to see how it goes. But I do think there isn't much of a reason to wait too much longer. The fact is that old opinion type threads are being bumped, and natural selection does not apply to the board at all. The mass appeal opinions thread constantly get thrusted to the top, clogging up the board.
  5. I love both House and 24, but if I have to pick one, nothing beats House really. It's the show I make sure I never miss.
  6. I thought it was great. I was glad I didn't reread the book because I wasn't fixating on what was left out. Everything felt fresh and I enjoyed the "oh yeah!" moments remembering things from the book. And nobody can expect them to fit everything in - it annoys me so much when people complain about that. The cinematography I thought was really good in this one. I really loved all of the contrasting elements going on. Overall this is definitely my favorite so far, hands down.
  7. Guys, you gotta remember that E3 isn't directed towards gamers. Bottom line they're catering towards retailers at this expo. And in that sense I think Nintendo did great in promising them a successful short term future ahead. Anyways I heard through digg that Sony's price drop isn't really a price drop. I thought Nintendo had a decent showing. To be honest I'm not a fan of this fitness balance board. I'll probably end up getting it but those exercises seem like you'd get a higher intensity workout just walking around. There was a pushups game but I don't need to start up a console to do pushups. This sort of thing will be great for older people and the majority of America obsessed with losing weight, but I was really hoping for a huge announcement in the form of a game, rather another self improvement game going along with that trend.
  8. what's wrong with my topic? i just want some support cause i am really down because my grandmother has got alzheimer. edit: thanks for the support It's ok jeroen, abyssal acts like this all the time. Some people forget there are real people behind each poster. I'm really sorry for the loss. My grandma died two years ago suddenly and it was really hard to go through. My advice is when you remember her (which you'll do a lot I imagine), remember your best memories rather than thinking about her death. For awhile whenever I thought about my grandma I felt pretty sad, but that's not the right emotion to feel about someone you love so much. I know right now it's terrible to deal with but do try to remember the positive things.
  9. I wrote up on this issue. Runescape doesn't really mess up people's lives. It just takes away initiative from other areas, which can be bad. It's not like people choose to play runescape over having fun with friends. It's just by playing runescape instead of getting bored and wanting to do anything worthwhile, people never get around to initiating stuff on their own. My advice to people dealing with this is to just replace something with playing runescape if you get bored so you don't feel like you need to revert back to it whenever you are bored. Instead just force yourself to do something worthwhile.
  10. O RLY you think that? I don't know, it can be fun. People like creating fads on sites like ytmnd and its fun to just go with it. It's not like people who love them are stupid or anything. It's just a different kind of humor you can't really relate to. We all have some kind of humor we just don't get at all.
  11. How many xbox360 owners have faulty xbox's? Apparently all of you.
  12. It doesn't have to do with a thread being trash or not. I don't see it as a subjective issue. The thread either deals with an issue with the game or it doesn't. I don't see what's confusing about that. If you're discussing something about the game you post it in one forum. If not, the other. It's not an issue of quality, just whether or not the discussion will be about the game.
  13. Again, another "the community's going downhill" thread. It's not going downhill, it's just your perspective. You notice two incidents so to you suddenly it seems like things have drastically changed. But really there have always been scammers, beggers, etc. While it's true there are more now, that's only because there are more people playing. The percentage of players who do that stuff is probably always the same, but with a larger population, it seems like there's more of those kind of people. I could go on and on explaining this, but I've written on it before here if you want to read something longer.
  14. My favorite theme park is hands down Disney World, specifically the magic kingdom. Even more specifically, tomorrowland at night. I just love that place. My favorite ride though has to be the Incredible Hulk at Universal Studios in Orlando. It's such a rush and I love the part where you go through a giant cloud of mist right over the water. I'm pretty close to Cedar Point with all of those great rides, but as a park you can't even compare it to what Disney and Universal have to offer.
  15. I don't think a subforum would be as clear as just splitting the board in half. Like my picture shows, runescape general chat can include more than just hypothetical threads. Hypothetical threads are a big part of the issue, but just part of it. I say we take it all out now. I mean we could easily change it so hypothetical forums become forum games. You can easily view them in that light and they do fit that style. But I think it would be a lot clearer to just divide the forum in two. Good to hear this issue is being discussed and considered though. :)
  16. Wasn't it HSB or something? Nope, it was HYS. I'd give you a direct link but dk3 has the database. :)
  17. Maybe I would have read it in a different light if you preempted it saying you intended on it being sarcastic or funny. Because I didn't really see any sarcasm worth noting, unless the whole thing was sarcastic. And nothing was really funny to me, except the organ donor reference. But eh, I took it the wrong way. I replied seriously to what I thought was a serious thread. I haven't noticed any trend to your posts like you mentioned, but be sure I'll take your advice and not take other stuff you write seriously. Back to the issue (walking a thin line here...am I crossing back into being serious?), I do agree that the government can be overprotective, and that there definitely should be much more self accountability enforced than there is now. hehe fair enough Adam, fair enough. If you have seen me stalking around the topics, I normally come across as a A-type, (according to some...arrogant) law enforcing, rule following serious person who enters most threads with an informed opinion and a bit of an attitude. Trying to lighten up that perception ( :XD: ) I wrote a tongue in cheek thread, that personally, I thought was pretty funny....maybe I need to re-evaluate that....hehe...perhaps I didn't articulate it well enough to make the humor easy to understand...anyway, I will make sure I put *sarcasm* at the beginning and end of these type of threads if I do another, so you can identify it as such  I was a little critical when I said it wasn't that funny, just not reading it in the right mindframe. Like you said, it's tongue in cheek, a more subtle humor, so I didn't mean to offend. It was articulated well enough, I was just skimming. Most OT'ers are used to heated debates, so a lot of us figured you were arguing a point and missed the sarcasm.
  18. I mentioned this in another thread, but figured I'd make a thread on the idea. First, I know most people hate the idea of adding extra forums. I normally do. But I think in this case it'd be beneficial. One of the biggest complaints I hear about the recent merge of general p2p and general f2p was that there are too many overall general threads clogging up real discussion about game elements. Before we couldn't do this because it would create 4 categories, but now we can since all runescape chat is in one. The idea is to split it to become "General Runescape Chat" or something like it, and "General Runescape Discussion." General Chat(red): You have your questionnaires. You have your community related threads. General nonspecific to the game threads. General Discussion(blue): Clear and concise threads discussing specifically the game, its elements and issues. Simple as that. I went through the front page and it wasn't too hard to split most of them up. A few could go either way, but overall it's pretty easy to discern between the two. This kind of split could really improve discussion about the game, and would satisfy the general trend of people wanting a board where they can discuss the game without sifting through a lot of old general f2p remnants and other way too general stuff that won't ever go away. Anyways, let me know what you think. I'm sure I missed a few things and could probably go on elaborating about this change, but I'll leave that to discussion.
  19. 20. You're talking about palindromes, words like racecar that are spelled the same way forwards and backwards. Then you have anagrams, where you rearrange letters in a word like dormitory into dirty room. Plenty of examples are given on each link.
  21. Welcome back? All "congrats, you've achieved xx level!" pictures are the same. I think most of these threads are redundant enough as it is, but I hardly think a picture is what should qualify it as a worthy thread. Agreed. Maybe we could split up the current general board we have into general runescape chat, and general runescape discussion. One would have hypothetical questions, be community related, etc. The other would be pure discussion about the game, its updates, its elements, etc. It's pretty easy to draw the line between threads, and I think that would solve a lot of current issues people are having. I don't see this as a major issue. There are enough stickies people skim over already. The more stickies there are, the less likely people will read any. The TET is mostly ran by low levels, so most events are catered to low levels. Plus low level activities cater to more of the community. Groups like Slayers of Dangerous Beasts or clans are good for higher level events. Agreed. It couldn't hurt to highlight members that stand out. There would be a better chance of them sticking around that way, and like you said, becoming future prominent parts of the community. We're definitely missing users like that, and I think there are things that can be done to try to keep more of these types of members.
  22. It's the government's job to protect us. That's a reason why we pay taxes. If you have no need for a government, find an island somewhere. Evolution is such a long process that laws the US might have has such a negligible effect on it. I don't think it's right to think in terms of doing what's best to weed out the human race so we can best evolve. It's a natural process, and there are pressures outside our grasp (not religiously) that would shape evolution. I just don't see why you care what happens to our species so much? It's not like you'll be around to see what our final end product will be. Odds are some catastrophic event will get in the way before it even happens.
  23. Why do two post end with a "let the flame war begin!" type line? Nowhere else but the internet do people give an opinion, and wrap it up with a line like that. It's like you genuinely want people to harass your viewpoint so you can attack back. I know you're implying you don't want to flame, but why even bring up the sarcastic invitation? Anyways, sorry for going off tangent before even addressing the question. Myself, I'm an agnostic Jew, so I'll do a few mental lines of it. If there is a being out there receiving what I'm thinking, what could it hurt? It's usually a last resort type of deal when I have no one else to turn to or talk to though.
  24. What makes you old school? Probably when you don't have to list it to prove it to someone, and people just know. Instead of you remembering old school related things, when people remember old school things, they remember you.
  25. I'm pretty sure they promised a long time ago that they'd never make stronger versions of a drag med, kite, chain, etc, and only have weaker items because their reasoning was that the gods wore dragon items and since they always kept 3, we never attained the higher end items. But who knows anymore, since they just released a dragon large helm or whatever its called.
