  1. I picture it being in another dimension. The floor is misty, and everyone I ever knew or wanted to know is always available. Everyone looks the best they ever looked to everyone else. And people just chill and talk with each other. I don't have much else envisioned. Unfortunately though, there is that whole shortage of chairs issue.
  2. I was thinking about getting $100+ dollar Bose type headphones because they sound so great at stores where you can sample songs with them. What I was wondering was for people who already own expensive headphones. Does it make the same difference as those samples at stores with whatever computer you have? Or does it depend on your soundcard? I've got a pretty decent soundcard right now and normally use the headphones that come with my laptop but I'll buy Bose ones if the sound always sounds as good as they do in stores.
  3. I dunno. I'm not sure if its a firmware thing or just a software thing. If its the later, they can upgrade it and we can have something other then friend codes. I haven't done anything online yet. So far no games I've seen that are worth it. They need to make more rpg's quick..... and proper fps.... Metroid's coming out this month I think. The first good game in a long time. I haven't played since winter really, and now with college starting I won't be able to play Metroid for awhile. :(
  4. Merge this with another thread if you want mods. I figure this might be big enough news worth discussion, but I'm pretty biased since I've been waiting for Nintendo to return to #1 in consoles for years. Well, it finally happened. This is a huge milestone for Nintendo, and it's great to have seen the long time underdog finally get back where it belongs. :)
  5. Congrats SUPER MODS! I just had to. The air of corniness is just too palpable. :P Really though, good to hear the extra work you've been doing is getting recognized. Nice job designing the avatars Alduron. Were you able to get GSW's old psd's or are those from scratch?
  6. 1. It would be 3rd person and you wouldn't see their screen. 2. If you were watching I doubt randoms could get to you. It would be like a scrawling pool in a POH. 3. Again, people would have to accept a request so that wouldn't happen. I like this idea and I think it would be a great way to show people fast training methods and ways to do general things more efficiently. Since we already have scrying pools all that's needed is more scrying locations that keep following the player somehow.
  7. I might come back and edit some in, but for now I'm just going to suggest you make a template type list of names people can use if you want this thread to do well.

    Bioshock

I played the demo and loved it. One thing that I couldn't figure out was why on my real resolution, 1440x900, the cursor would fly all over the place and was hard to control. I changed it to a lower resolution and it was easier, but does anyone know anything about that?
  9. Congratulations on admin status Tripsis. Hope you like the color orange. :P
  10. Yeah, some might be pretty hard, but there should be some even new members can do. Just do as many as you can and hopefully we'll get some additional ones other people think of that I'll replace some with.
  11. As everyone knows, the off topic boards tend to go through waves and stages. Sometimes there will be a wave of similar threads. Sometimes a wave of similar posting styles. And sometimes a wave of a 'community shift.' I think we're riding a relatively bad wave right now. From masses of unnecessary advice threads to tons of "I'm going to school, you too?!" threads, I think we're kind of diverging a little far off how the board usually is. Threads are becoming unusually hostile. We do have a lot of newer members that are becoming short term regulars, and to you, I'd like to ask if you could try your hardest to post intelligently and think about what you're posting and the tone it's in. And mostly, be open about things. The thing keeping this board great is how most people are pretty open to different ideas regardless of their prior notions. Anyways, I don't want to get preachy here, because I just don't like being that guy. The last thing I did want to bring up was that the off topic board's community isn't as tight knit as it usually is. It feels like we're all just posting, but there isn't a webbed friendship among regulars like there often was. As a community, we should make an effort to try to get older members to know each other better, as well as bring in and acknowledge newer ones. With that, I'm getting to the reason I made this thread. On this lighter note, I'm going to transition and bring back one of those "most likely to" type pseudo-award threads (can we still do those here? Lock this if not, rather than moving it to forum games. That's not why I made it). In addition to whatever comments you might have to the first half of this thread, fill out as many of these as you want, and give me more suggestions of fields to add. :)
  12. I remember awhile ago on a similar thread you posting that. I could list a few songs myself, but I can't really think of one defining song because all songs are emotional, and just one type of emotion can't really fit me.
  13. Death is the Road to Awe by Clint Mansell. Listen to it and you'll know. The climax of that song is out of this world.
  14. I'm not going to pick a side, but what bothers me the most on debates like this is the few people who chime in just repeating what they learned in DARE. The, "it's immoral and bad for you! You must be an idiot to try that stuff!" Anything is bad for you if you have too much of it. It just bothers me that people with no idea what they're talking about run in on things like they're the moral authority because they learned DARE government funded propaganda, shouting "Just say no!" as if they know something nobody else does. I'm not saying you're completely wrong, just that you're doing a lot of stereotypical generalizing.
  15. Hash brownies. :) They are typically just chocolate brownies with THC in them to get you intoxicated. Hash browns are the potato stuff you can get at McDonalds... :P I'm not saying you should try drugs, I just think the public needs to adopt a better (more accurate) image of them. I would actually choose hash browns over hash brownies because hash browns (especially the ones from McDonald's) are delicious and deliciousness triumphs all else. I bet that processed McDonald's junk is far worse for your health, if we're comparing.
  16. Have you ever seen a cruise? It sounds like in your mind you're imagining a tiny little boat going through a ravenous ocean and barely making it. Cruises are immense and usually are close enough to land that if there was an emergency people wouldn't have an issue. Don't let your fears control you and make you miss great memories.
  17. It only seems like we should have a sticky because mods haven't been locking all these overly similar threads.
  18. This has to be like the fifth thread this month of "I'm going to X next year. What about you guys?" Anyway for me I'll be at the University of Michigan.
  19. You've got a fast metabolism like me, so sitting around sedentary all day won't help. Granted I'm in the same shoes you are, but the advice I'd give myself if I could follow it would be to buy a ton of heavy food. Protein shakes, etc. Don't bother with fast food junk when you can get healthier alternatives that don't pollute you. In addition to meals you eat with your family, eat your own extra stuff for those days when the rest of the family just doesn't eat as much as you'd like to. Gaining weight when you're in this position requires effort - not a lack of it, which is the opposite for most people. Eat one last heavy in protein meal right before you go to bed, and try to do some heavy lifting too. Low reps, high intensity to failure. Again, that's what people tell me, except it's just a lot of work. I've been the same weight all summer unfortunately, but this fall I'll be living in a dorm so I'll be eating as much food as I want. :P
  20. Nintendo doesn't provide people with a wi-fi connection. You need to have your own wireless one. Get a wireless router or you can buy a usb dongle thing from Nintendo's site.
  21. That happens to me all the time! I'll have random songs stuck in my head and I'll have no idea how they got there because I hadn't heard them. Then I'll read the off topic forums and find out the song's been stuck in my head for a day because of a thread title. It happens all the time - the latest I've had in my head was from the What Pokemon Are You? (<- youtube link) thread. I remember hearing it years ago and couldn't figure out why such a random song I could care less about wouldn't leave my head. (Annnd...that's enough of my random tangenting). To riku: Glad you're enjoying school. The first day's always fun and exciting, seeing if the teachers you have match the expectations you created for them based on seeing their last name on your schedule. And as awkward as first day classes can be, it's still fun getting to know people.
  22. You admitted right there that you're choosing your beliefs not based on logical principals, but based on your emotions. Rather than deciding your viewpoint on how you feel, use some brains. Personally I too find two guys doing it pretty gross. But that's just what we're used to. It doesn't make it wrong. Plenty things in nature are gross. Just because the thought of it is slightly repulsive to you, it doesn't make it wrong. Oh and if by he, you mean God, when referring to not making people gay, explain the ram example you just came up with? You think rams consciously think about their sexual preferences and choose to suddenly like their same sex?
  23. Definitely less going on than other cities I've been to, but the thing I absolutely loved about Boston is how new and clean the city feels. The city's architecture all around is really nice. Tons of history yet it doesn't feel old in a rundown kind of way like most big cities do. And I just love hearing Boston accents. :P
