You make a good point. At least maybe things should be changed so that if the author requests it to be locked, anyone who had posted on it can request it to be unlocked. But at the same time that sounds kind of weird. Maybe if you posted on a thread the creator had locked just make a new one of your own on the same topic. Although I do agree that currently it's a little weird that someone can lock their topic just because the repliers don't agree with him/her.

For starters, thinking you have a feminine rather than masculine mind is pretty limiting. By thinking you can't act masculine, you're setting yourself up for awkwardness. Rather thinking that you have a girl's mind trapped in a guy's body, just acknowledge that you're different in the sense that you don't like how society expects a male to act. Any word yet on how rares were effected? I'm guessing there was a definite drop, but unlike for getting skill capes, no items/gp are removed from the game so over time rares should be boosted.

Don't worry about how you should react. There are two things you can worry about. Things you have immediate control of, and things you don't. There's absolutely no use worrying about things you have no control of, and rather than worrying about things you do have control of, get working on controlling or taking care of your worries. In your place, you have no control over what things will be like at your school, so don't worry about it. Just talk to people, be friendly and make friends. Don't sweat it, you're there to have fun, make friends, and learn.

I don't think it should hurt rares too much. It might hurt whips or other weapons/armor but whenever money circulates hands it's a good thing for the economy. When whips were first obtained rares actually went up after awhile just because of all the exchange of cash.

I was going to make a similar topic with a different approach later today. My spin on it was that I read an article saying that within the next 50-100 years, we should have the technology to build simulators advanced enough that the creatures/people in it fully believe they exist. If we'll have that kind of technology and millions of people have their own simulations running where the people in it are convinced they exist, whose to say we're not one of millions of simulations already running?

I don't know how you could even group the two in the same topic. There's always an explanation to why you thought what you saw was a ghost. It was dark and your irrational mind jumped to the first emotional response. Or convince people easily enough by putting badly developed pictures in a montage with scary music. Usually works.
