I'd get the super mario 64 remake if you missed it when it was on the n64. Mario kart is really fun, I love that one. Get animal crossing if you haven't played it on gamecube - look into it before you buy though, it's not for everyone. Pokemon D/P are great games if you're into that. Wario Ware is pretty fun too.

Some type of rank or avatar that states a person used to be staff does not imply what kind of note they left on. Whether or not they left on a good note or bad one doesn't have anything to do with the fact that they contributed to tip it and helped make it what it is. A bolded or colored name wouldn't be necessary, and an avatar simply saying "retired staff" or something along those lines is pretty straightforward. I don't see how anyone can confuse that for current staff. That type of ranking doesn't imply that they're currently associated with staff, "retired staff" pretty much means that they're no longer working for tip it. They no longer have to represent tip it, and that's a pretty obvious thing. While you bring up valid points, if there's a reason not to have avatars for retired staff, I don't think those are strong enough. Personally I think asking for a rank title is enough and an avatar is kind of over decorating things, but I don't see any reason other than that not to go through with trying it out.

Possibility of a more inane chit-chatter subforum?
Adam007 replied to Futurama's topic in Forum Updates and Suggestions
I'm not really a fan of separating off topic like that. Threads aren't one dimensional like that, in the sense of them being categorized. I can see people yelling at each other for being too casual on the serious issue board, or on the chat board getting annoyed for bringing up serious issues. These kind of splits sometimes split up users too. Some people start ignoring one board or the other, one becomes less active, then the community gets a little fragmented. Not to say it doesn't have it's pros. There's no use in making a big deal out of this kind of a change - my opinion is that it couldn't hurt trying it out, then voting on whether or not we want to keep it. While I don't see a need to change this because I don't think we're having any problems right now, if you guys think it would make things better, why not try it out. -
I've been following them for a few months now, but recently they're becoming pretty popular. They're on late night shows, and on HBO their TV show is premiering (first episode here: http://tv.yahoo.com/flight-of-the-conch ... os/2877132 ) You can catch some of their stuff on youtube, just search. They originally started as a comedy duo and some of their best stuff I'd recommend watching is albi the racist dragon, jenny, and business time. Whether you're already a fan or are just hearing about them now, you'll be hearing a lot more about them pretty soon.

I know everyone else is being mean to you, but I actually find that pretty interesting if it's true. I'll try to remember to try it tomorrow when it's sunny.

Jeeze, you're like the two years ahead of me version of myself. Like everything you said applies exactly to me. Even the family part. I'm going into college next year and I'm having the hardest time deciding if I want to go into medicine or not. Being 'the smart guy,' (yeah, I get that label too, and I never know how to take it), I kind of feel like that's just my calling. Climb to the peak. Be a doctor. But like you said, and an issue I've spent hours thinking over, you basically miss a social life you would have had during your 20's, your prime (I'm really hoping it's not as extreme as they say it is). Every time I question if I want to do it, I come to that same conclusion, that I'm helping people and make a difference as opposed to a business major who's just out there to make money. I still haven't decided, but I did thoroughly enjoy reading this. Thank you for taking the time to write all of these threads.

There was a whole article in TIME magazine with those pictures. It was an interesting read. My family eats like the Revis family - we just have a lot less than that because we eat out for most meals.

I played the NES here and there, but I didn't really start gaming until I got my own SNES in '92 I think it was, so 15 years.

This might be one of those untrue 'facts' that get passed along, but I heard that there are more homosapiens living now than there are total dead. I don't know man, unless you believe in creationism, realize that humans have been around for about 5 million years. We are at ~6 billion people now. To reach 6 billion deaths over .005 billion years, would only require that 1200 people need to have died each year. 1200*5 Million = 6 billion. I would have to go out on a limb and say that whatever you heard, it might be one of those untrue 'facts' that get passed along :XD: Yeah, it doesn't make much sense to me either. You should know by now though from posting together for so many years that I could never believe the earth is a few thousand years old. :P Anyways I was bothered by where I heard that and found this article on it: http://www.sciam.com/article.cfm?articl ... F0DA77D94F It agreed with you but one thing worth mentioning is that according to the article homosapiens have only been around for 50,000 years, not 5 million. That's the thing about education here. The highschools are a mess, but universities are the best in the world. I'm proud to be going to the sixth ranked university in the world, even though my highschool wasn't much to speak about. :)

You've done a ton for tip it Kiara, and it was nice working with you when I was a member of the crew. I really do admire your devotion to this site, and we all appreciate the hours and hours of work you poured into it. MPM - You've got some some shoes to fill. :) Tip it's always had excellent leaders, and I'm sure you'll do great as the crew leader. We became such good friends while you taught me the ups and downs of working the bestiary, and you've already done soo much for the site, so I know you'll be great in charge.

What I got out from your post was that ease of life does not equate to happiness. But it does give us a better opportunity for it. In our situations we can easily be happy, because like you said, we have so much. And compared to humanity's past, we really should be grateful for our situations and take advantage of the fact that we do have so much. I think in any situation people will be pessimists and be unhappy, so no matter how close to a utopia we are everyone won't be happy, but we're pretty close, and I absolutely love how things are going for me right now, so I'm pretty happy and content. This might be one of those untrue 'facts' that get passed along, but I heard that there are more homosapiens living now than there are total dead.

Hey, welcome back (again, right?).

*shivers at the thought of that* Pfft, don't act as if you haven't seen it all already. ;) Myself, black athletic shorts and a gray t-shirt accompanied by standard white socks. Change the italic colors around and you've got what I'm wearing for the next few months.

Natalie Portman, Keira Knightley, Jessica Alba, Scarlett Johansson, the list goes on and on.

I'd be all for that. Shall we both PM a couple and see what they say? I'd just go for it. Make the title charity oriented, focusing that it's for charity, and explaining why you posted it on off topic too. What mod would be against charity? :P Also, might want to remove the megaupload links for a little while.

Who is your favorite person to discuss things with? I'd say Merc. He always has an interesting perspective on things. Who do you think would label themselves as your enemy, or beter yet, who do you strongly dislike on this board? The only people that ever really annoyed me were people who came and went real quickly like Homeworkhelper and Woman that the whole of off topic basically wanted banned. If you could sit down with one person, and have a deep, philisophical conversation with them, who would it be? Satenza. If TIF was "real-life", who would you consider to be your group of friends? Trapical, Duke Freedom, Mad, and Bubsa. Do you miss seeing anyone around? Tons of people. Like Bubsa said though, I really miss Sonsie. And of course Shiva. If one person on this board were to become famous for doing something awesome for the world, or for maybe becoming a world leader, who do you think it would be? Trapical

From your warning I expected this to take awhile, but it was an engaging read and went by pretty fast. As usual, a great thread. Again, thank you for opening my eyes to more stuff. Not all corporations are stereotypically evil/corrupt. :)

I really wish you went with your plan, were stuck on an island for a year, and then came back, posted here, with a heartwarming lesson-learned 20 paragraph post. But no, you'll talk about how you don't need any structured society, but you have no idea how fast you'd start missing things you take for granted. In this utopia of yours, have you given thought to the fact that you're defenseless? Any day you could get raided or attacked. And it's not as nice as just going fishing every morning with the friends. It just doesn't work like that. It's not like a camping trip that lasts a life time. You'd enjoy this for like a week, but soon it would become work. You'd get tired of it all. You (or most people) would wish for more. Unless you truly wouldn't mind living 3rd world style. But hey, you'll be 18 soon if you're not already, go ahead. Let us know how it works out for you if you ever come back to the real world.

Yeah, that article addresses what's going on right now. There's no crash though. The market would need some kind of crazy catalyst, which as of now, isn't happening. A rumor of a crash might dent things just because people get scared and works like a self fulfilling prophecy, but usually its the people who get scared who do the most damage to themselves, and everyone else stays fine because the market returns to normal pretty quickly.

Are you addicted to runescape?/how you got over it
Adam007 replied to bob_hello's topic in General Discussion
That's a great way to ensure you stop playing, if that's what kept you. For most people it is. For some people they might just consider it a small habit that they turn to when they have nothing to do, but when you play it for so many hours a day, it's really more than a habit. It's funny you just wrote this now, because on runehead I wrote an article about addictions -
Thanks for that link - I plan on doing premed, and often I feel the same way you do. People here keep getting younger and younger (we're getting older), and it does seem us biology oriented people think differently than computer/tech/math people. Good luck on your MCAT, and I'll definitely be looking forward to some of your upcoming threads.

Is anyone here trying to buy runescape gold? Don't worry so much. Even if they saw someone here trying to buy runescape gold they wouldn't immediately ban him/her, because they couldn't be sure the forum name and runescape name were of the same person or a frame.

Here's to an all encompassing "Help! I have issues and need advice!" sticky.

See? You just prove their point. Men are horndogs and cant restrain themselves. If all of a sudden women went topless men would go insane. Now say if it had always been like that the practice would be commonplace and therefore not a big deal. I wouldn't go crazy if a women went topless... Its not like I'd freak out and have to stare at her constantly... I do have self control, don't steryotype me.... It's not a stereotype, it's just human nature. Now if women were allowed to go topless before we were born and we were used to this, it wouldn't seem like such a big deal and rape or whatever wouldn't be an issue. It's just that since it is against the law we make a bigger deal when we do see em.

I'd say some of the best overall currently active members who've been around awhile would be Darkrick, Merciful, Bubsa, How2pk, and Insane. We could use a little bit more of you guys right now.
