  1. Sadly, buying new parts is the best way to improve performance. You could buy a 9500GT for around $70 USD and it'll allow you to play many other games too. Overclocking is alos another option but I have heard restrictions HP/Dell etc. place onto their motherboards and an overclocked 6100 will be nowhere near a 7600.
  2. Benchmarks say XP performs better than Vista but Vista is quickly/already closing the gap with better/upgraded drivers. Unless you are going for DX10 (which doesnt seem likely) or upgrading to >4gb of RAM, you could just stick with XP.
  3. So this is similar to the PC gaming concept? Basically installing the gaming while using the disk broken disk as verification? I'm not sure on how big the games are but I assume if you have a small Xbox hard drive it will be full pretty quickly with all the ripped games.
  4. Heres a good site for various ships/aircraft/scenery: http://widescreenstuff.blogspot.com/
  5. I had some occasional BSOD's running at 3.01ghz with my E4500 (2.2ghz stock), BSOD'ing every couple of hours playing WoW or playing CoD 4 for <30mins but after de-clocking it to 2.8ghz, I've never had a BSOD and didn't notice mouch of a performance loss.
  6. If you like military aircraft heres where i get mine from: http://freewidescreenwallpapers.blogspot.com
  7. Heres a list of some rippers http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DVD_ripper
  8. You can rip the the DVD to your computer but thats not really legal. Then convert the DVD file sinto a file system that your MP3 supports such as .avi, .mp4 etc.
  9. Too bad I won't get to enjoy it considering my [cabbage] internet plan.
  10. That computer won't be adequate for gaming. The 7600 is really outdated plus you won't have a chance to upgrade as easily as it uses the obsolete AGP connections when modern motherboards and graphics cards use PCIe. 1GB of memory isnt enough to play many of the latest games smoothly anymore so I would recommend a new computer. If you have a look around T&C and look at the other builds should give you a good idea of what to upgrade.
  11. Within the last week: Red Alert 3 (Decent RTS, fun and brings back the nostalgia from RA2) FIFA 09 (Decent football game, heard its much better on consoles but this is the first FIFA game I have owned since FIFA 2004) Assassins Creed (Took a while to get into and used to with the Animus and all but its pretty fun and enjoyable)
  12. Nearly summer so none, not even in winter where it just rains.
  13. Its probably because of this video (circa very early 21st century) that leads to AMD's bad rep.

    Winter Jackets?

Not too cold in NZ and I also don't live in an area where it snows. Gets around 0C at dawn but peaks to about 10C ish and thats only a really cold day. When it rains, the temperature is usually much warmer so I just pile on jumpers and jerseys with a usually a tracksuit top or sports jacket to keep out the wind.
  16. Check if RAM is properly seated and the latches are closed, had an old computer that continuously beeped when the RAM was not properly fastened.
  17. my passwords are usually just 6-7 word/letter combinations that I don't really remember and set it to auto-remember in my browser, infact I don't even know what my Tip.it password is and just have it re-emailed to me something happens.
  18. Nvidia and ATI were the only ones I could think of from the top of my head, other GPU companies are Intel, Matrox and some defunct companes such as 3DFX
