Whats the point of this thread, it has already been established that Mac's are overpriced and will generally be inferior to its same price PC counterpart.

is the installation dreadfully slow or post-install. An install of SP1 on vanilla Vista can take up to an hour.

yeah PCIe 2.0 cards do work PCIe 1's, don't think cards are fast enough to take advantage of that bandwidth yet.

I've got a HD3870, similar to a 9600GT and it runs Mass Effect Fine from a first hand experience, for HDMI output's, most mid-high end cards all come with adapters and with the advantage to ATI cards (not sure about Nvidia) is that they also carry sound so you don't need to plug in extra wires or a SPDIF, so I would reccommend something in the HD4800 family.

It won't run much better if the hardware is still the same.

If its possible, go back to the store and exchange it, if you explain to them your problem, they will most likely happily replace it as it is a faulty item.

Intel, get more from your money as they are much more powerful than AMD's processors at the same Clock speed not to mention the ability to overclock. 8800 Ultra's are powerful cards but not with the new GTX's, 4800 series they are rapidly becoming obsolete.

Is Farcry 2 more optimised than Crysis was, like on the same same hardware will F2 run better?

I disabled it a while ago so forgot how to do it but a quick Google search tells this: * Go into Spybot > Mode > Advanced Mode > Tools > Resident o Uncheck (if checked) the following: Resident "TeaTimer" (Protection of over-all system settings) Active. To temporarally close TeaTimer and restart it later: * Right click Spybot's TeaTimer System Tray Icon > click Exit Spybot-S&D Resident. o TeaTimer closes. * Restart TeaTimer: o Using Windows Explorer, navigate to C:\Program Files\Spybot - Search & Destroy. o Double click TeaTimer[Caution: Executable File] to start it.

Joe, that CPU is a real bottleneck, I would replace it with a Core 2 Duo and from what I've heard, the new 45nm E5xxx is pretty good and are fine overclockers.

I have spybot as one of my anti-spyware scanners and turn tea timer off, only leaving avast! on for real time protection. Just scan every couple of days when your afk or once every week or so and don't visit any dodgy sites and you should be fine.
