  1. IF its 2 ram modules, then its most likely to be in dual channel so install in alternating slots ie. slots 1 and 3 and make sure the clipping pins are fully closed when you install it.
  2. Gaming is more like a hobby than a career for me, don't really want to be in the industry but I wouldn't mind being a contributor to a gaming magazine or website.
  3. Hmmm ok so can i sit on the carpet and leave it on hardwood (95% of my house is carpteted) or am i carrying this to my bathroom PS: I just took the RAM out of the old computer and it was easy. Don't need to do that, just leave it on your desk or any raised surface.
  4. Just touch the metal casing and try not to put it on carpet.
  5. http://petfoodalpha.com/?p=1055 This for those who think tl;dr:
  6. Use it as a flashdrive? Buy new MP3?
  7. low wattage power supplies don't have enough juice to power powerful graphic cards as they demand a 6-pin PCIe connector straight from the PSU with some more demanding cards requiring 8pin or 10pins. I would recommend a good trusted brand such as Silverstone, Coolermaster, Zalman, Corsair, Thermaltake etc. for PSU's as poor quality ones will give you alot of crashes. 8800GT is a top end card with more than 2x the graphical processing power of the 8600GT, depends on what games you want to play really, 8600GT will run COD4 fine but not with AA or AF turned up to max.
  8. Usually new motherboards mean new entire systems due to compatibility with old hardware etc. and its good to have a new look. For the 4gigs of RAM, get a board with 4 RAM slots preferably supporting at least DDR2-667. For the processor you want, I suggest getting a dual/quad core as singles are already obsolete and even the most basic Intel Core 2 Duo will destroy a 3ghz Pentium 4. Right now, no quad/duals run at stock 4ghz with the 3.2 ghz QX9775 the best out now (i think), retailing at about $1500. To get to your goal of 4ghz, you will need to overclock and at those clockspeeds, you will most likely need a custom cooler. Before you purchase your board, check if it fits into your case as an ATX mobo will not fit into a mATX one, same goes for PSU, I recommend <400W for a mid-range (8600gt etc) graphics card Also I heard somewhere that Dell solder or rivet their boards to their cases so removing them may be impossible or difficult, I', not too sure on this one so maybe have a look in your case to see.
  9. what specs does it have? Does the motherboard support DDR2-800,667,533 etc. and does it have PCIe slots for graphics cards?
  10. For the LCD, depends on what size you are looking for and a graphics card under $50 will run COD4 but not with all the eye candy turned up. Look for at least a nvidia 8600gt that can be found ~$80
  11. have you done any hardware updates or driver updates? go on desktop right click properties settings and make the resolution higher
  12. AIDS is kinda like a global cleanser

What are you talking about? The Xfire updates take a few minutes for me at most and it works perfectly for me on vista, only an annoying UAC pops up when I open it.

I have been seeing alot of PSN/Gamertag/console threads and think there needs to be a PC version. Basically Xfire is gaming MSN/Yahoo messenger etc., it shows what game you are playing and the server that you are on and can join them with a simple click. Mostly all games are supported even Runescape (I think you need the client for it register though). It also acts as a useful tool, a pretty good server browser with the ability to record vids and take screenshots ingame too. So yeah, add your xfire names to this thread and you can create an account if you are interested. www.xfire.com Heres mine to start off: Eggzs (profile in sig)
  16. forza Juve, I like how they focus on young players such as 18yo Yago from Barca. Can't wait for Champions League to start, Juve, Real, Zenit and Bate all in one group 8-)
  17. Using it right now and so far enjoying it, blocked the Tip.it pop up plus it transferred all my settings and tabs from FF, looks great too, awaiting ad-block feature though
  18. 64bit vista premium, best compromise between basic and ultimate versions plus it supports 3.5gb+ RAM which is the way of the future.
  19. Is it closed beta or open beta? If its open, I will definately be giving it a try.
  20. GTA IV when it comes out on PC will suit you perfectly (its on 360/ PS3 now but there will be modding support, better graphics etc.)
  21. Both, just have only 1 active at a time and only scan using one at a time.

How do you build a telescope that can "travel faster than light years"? I'm pretty sure you mean the speed of light, but it is impossible for an object with mass to travel at the speed of light as the object will have infinite mass which is impossible (theres a formula for this, but I can't remember the correct one).
  23. I've got a Creative Zen 60GB and it has battery life much longer than an ipod, better image/video quality i reckon and it also has a FM radio. It is rather chunky but I think that you can get thinner models out now.
  24. Just sat one IGCSE exam in May/June this year and it was A* in Eng Sitting the following exams in Late October/ Early November: Chem Phy Bio Eng Lit. Geo and AS Maths
