I already called southern China...and I thought we were only claiming land, not civilizations or tech. Though I take it we haven't decided anything in the 2 hours I was gone. Has doom even posted since we started discussing this?

I must subdue the Gauls! Oh and North America will essentially be a dead zone, since nobody would be able to travel there (try sailing a bireme across the Atlantic). You could theoretically start as the "Mayans" or some other Native American tribe. You just couldn't interact with anyone else.

Dusty just wants to conquer Europe again. :P I'll take somewhere in east Asia, either Mongolia or southern China. If we want an ancient-themed (which can progress into medieval-themed eventually) game, 300 BC sounds good. I'd say 600 AD though for starting in medieval. I start moving women and young children into safety. Men are prepared for war, though most have already been trained. Food being produced on Zhoreuc is being stored up and shipped to Earth. Weapons are being produced like crazy. Otherwise, everything is the same.

Obvious flaw I noticed though - if we're still doing 1 day = 1 year, it'd take forever to get anywhere. So maybe have it be 1 day = 100 years for a while, until we get set up, then gradually slow it down. (OH HEY THAT'S HOW CIVIV DOES IT)

Medieval or ancient world? Hm. You know what I think would be awesome? Start the game at 4000 BC. Use the Earth map, but completely empty. No borders, but basically all natural features are there. We each get a settling group of maybe 10000 people. We can have them anywhere. Or maybe we should pick locations randomly, since we'd probably end up all fighting over the Mid East or something. But from there, we do whatever. Basically a standard game of CivIV, now that I think about it. But yea, I kind of started losing interest when this turned towards sci-fi. Aside from the Ender saga, I've never really been a huge fan - fantasy/medieval/ancient stuffs on the other hand...awesome. And if we're going to have a war to end all wars, I suppose it would be fairest to have NWO vs. everyone else.

I think I meant day. But that doesn't work either. Or 210K km/s. You get the point though.

I'm not sure how effective those speeds would be over "short" distances. Think of it as traveling between Earth and Mars. Wouldn't hurt to develop my own ships for this use, anyway. Don't think anyone else has really made ships for this purpose, so we (NWO-ers) can benefit from this. I also forgot that I have some other continuous projects going on, but those don't really drain too much money. Actually my ships go something close to 70% of the speed of light. That's like 210 km/s, I think. I'm looking for a speed close to half of that. So I guess it wouldn't take too long to develop, and wouldn't cost as much as I originally intended. Whatever, just thought I should mention it, to be safe from "godmod-accusers." I've spent a lot of my budget on infrastructure, but my budget is nowhere as big as yours, so I don't think that would matter.

I know, if she doesn't update it within a day or two I'll send her a PM. I remember what I wanted to do - I'm also researching ways to improve underground habitats. Kind of hard to put into words. Priorities are in this order: 1. Supporting Zhoreuc colony ($100b?) 2. Supporting Qyella colony ($90b?) 3. Researching fast STL (slower than light :) ) ships ($70b?) 4. Underground habitats ($50b?) I guessed at the numbers. Just showing how this wouldn't collapse my economy or anything.

3000 colonists reached Qyella (officially mine! :P ). I haven't made the map yet, but I'll just say that they've found a decent place to settle. It's high up in the mountains, but somewhat flat. It's also where they landed, if anyone was wondering how a spaceship would land on that rough terrain. I'm now working on a new type of ship, capable of traveling shorter distances quickly. Mainly, traveling between Zhoreuc and Qyella. Should take 5-7 years to develop? The ship carrying those colonists is stopping by Zhoreuc to pick up food and other supplies. (that's really what that new ship will be for...not a battleship in the slightest, think of it as a merchant ship in comparison to a frigate or galleon) There was something else I wanted to do, but I can't quite remember. Alright, a ship carrying 4000 colonists and a plentiful amount of supplies (along with quite a few mining machines) has been dispatched to Qyella. I should be done mapping it by the time they get there. If I stop being lazy, that is. <_<

Oh right, my scientists reached Qyella. It's a rocky planet, and the OP says: "Rocky planets are very mountainous, with only small lifeforms and very little plant matter. They contain a lot of minerals and other resources. Rocky planets are very prone to earthquakes and landslides." But nothing about the size of the mountains. I'm assuming "very mountainous" only means that there's no flat land at all, not that everywhere is full of gigantic mountains. So I'll use a RNG to determine how big the mountains generally are. 1-15 will mean hilly. Not tiny little hills, but not exactly mountains either. 16-40 will mean pretty tall mountains, similar to the Alps. Habitable, but not exactly ideal living conditions. 41-75 will mean tall, like the Andes. Also habitable, but really can't support too many people. 76-90 will mean very tall. Think Himalayas. Maybe not all as high as Mount Everest, but a few up there. 91-100 will mean extremely high. The lowest peaks will be the height of Mount Everest, and the tallest will be much higher. The result is 62. Similar to the Andes. Interesting. The planet is still being completely mapped out, so I won't make any specific plans yet. I'm also going to pick up the pace of the continuous research/development of automated turrets now. (SURGE IN FUNDING EXCEPT NOT. Oh, and I don't mean that I don't have them yet, I mean that I've had them for like 50 years, and I've been continuously improving them for 50 years, but now I'm improving them at a faster rate)

Just finished my history homework on the downfall of Napoleon. How fitting. Dungeonal, I'll send some of my men who worked on the fortresses/bunkers/bases throughout my empire to help if you want. My colonists on Zhoreuc are producing a lot of food. There's a lot of surplus. The team of scientists heading to Qyella is halfway there. Genetic research continues. I'm also going to be continuously producing ships, so unless I research some new technology concerning them, I won't mention it. If I have a decent sized fleet 50 years from now, don't be wondering where I pulled them out of. I'll also research some new weapons, I guess.

Where? Its a shame that everyone else besides Maine is getting snow. I WANT SNOW! I love the snow <3: Huh, the forecast said you would be getting the snow, not us (eastern Mass), nor Connecticut. But I guess that means it's coming your way. The snowflakes are huge, and it's accumulating a bit. Also just had my first encounter with the post limit. <_<

Reading
I'm pretty sure I've posted the following comment, almost word-for-word, in this thread before, but I'll say it again. Most people either love or hate The Lord of the Rings, but almost everyone enjoys The Hobbit. I enjoy basically everything by Tolkien, but The Hobbit is definitely one of my favorites. (either favorite or second favorite, after RotK) I finished 1984, it was nowhere as good as I expected. The first half was okay, then it got rather boring. I have to say I liked Animal Farm a lot better. I'm now reading Brave New World. Only a few pages in, so I can't judge it yet, but I hope it's not another letdown. My English teacher likes it quite a lot.

I'm assuming that was directed at me. If so, yea, I wasn't sure whether to include them or not. I do have basic infrastructure up, though I can simply not use them when calculating my GDP. (although without them, I only lost 20m in surplus money)

[hide=Republic of Taiwan - Statistics as of 2094] [For GDP, I'll be using the nominal figures, found on Wikipedia. All growth rates are over the 85 years since this started, although admittedly, I didn't acquire most of these territories until far later on.] [hide=Breakdown of Territories on Earth] "Mainland" Taiwan -Population: 35 million (.4% growth rate) -GDP per Capita: ~60K (rounded for easier calculations - 1.5% growth rate) Bhutan + Nepal (Shan Guo - "Mountain Country") -Population: 100 million (1.4% growth rate) -GDP per Capita: ~30K (4% growth rate - I've put a lot of money into improving this area, and as you can see, it's still rather low) Singapore, Brunei and East Timor (Xi Nan Guo - "Southwest[ern] Country") -Population: 20.5 million (1.3% growth rate) -GDP per Capita: ~125K (I actually got something like 184K, but that seemed ridiculously high, so I brought it down a bit. The real life economies of Singapore and Brunei are exploding though, so perhaps it's not too unreasonable. 1.8% growth rate) Other Pacific Islands (Hai Dao - "Island") -Population: 4 million (.8% growth rate) -GDP per Capita ~35K (Started with 4000 since I'm too lazy to average out all the different islands, 2.5% growth rate) [/hide] Zhoreuc: -Population: 10K Don't know what a reasonable GDP per Capita would be, I'll go with 40K for now. Total: -Population: 160 million -GDP: 7.8*1012, or...7.8 trillion? What. I had no clue it was so high. Reasonable enough I guess, I have a few very well off countries, and I've focused a lot of internal affairs. Taxing at 25%, and having 20% of that left over, gives me 390 billion. You usually don't see me saying things like "I spend 100b on this project, 60b on that project, and 20b on buying Pokemon cards," but don't assume that means I'm not staying within the boundaries of my economy. I just simply have no idea how much I should be spending on each project. [/hide] In other news, that team of scientists was launched to Qyella, while my other ship is carrying 3000 more colonists to Zhoreuc.

I'm sending a team to Qyella, of the system Ominlife. Not to colonize. Just to research what the landscape and geography is like. It should take them about 2 days/years to get there. (I'm sending them from Earth, not from Zhoreuc)

Hegemony-V2 begins page 302
It's been a week since I first launched my ship, so I guess the population of my colony on Zhoreuc is now about 10,000. The island they've landed on has been found to be great for agriculture, and has been renamed Mei Wan (美灣), or "Beautiful bay" if you're not learned in the Chinese language. My second ship is basically done. It can fire guns and stuff. Nothing too advanced, not really any new technology. (for the thread, of course it's new for me) It can carry people too, though only 3000. Travels quickly, just a bit slower than my first ship. Nothing overpowered, I don't think. A simple battleship that can move quicker than average is all it is. I'm building more colonizers now (like the first ship I built, carries 7500 people) . The genetic research I started a week ago is half done. I'll calculate statistics later. I think the last time I did it was during the final conversion, and it was really stupid of me not to save that. A quick estimate makes me want to say I have about 100 million people, with an average GDP per capita of 50K. Reasonable? (Considering ross said Hex's - at least I think it was Hex's - GDP per capita should be about 38K, and hopefully my people are better off than Hex's...)

I have a small colony on Zhoreuc. Apparently it doesn't take that long to travel there, so I've shuttled a several thousand of my people there. A settlement is up and running. 10 day left for my new ship to be built.

Food
I'm really hungry, and I'm about to search my kitchen for some food. I'm not sure what I'll have, maybe some of my mom's cake (her birthday was yesterday). Or maybe some mashed potatoes from earlier. Good stuff. Food is good. I like food. (in other news, my math teacher came in second in a hot dog eating contest this past weekend...)
