  1. And some people want the rush and gratification of completing certain things, like lv99 in skills they don't find "enjoyable" but they create delayed gratification in the anticipation of achieving goals. Runescape is often a goal based system for players, and we do lots of things that aren't fun in the moment because we want ranks, xp, and levels. Just because we aren't doing whats "fun right now" doesn't mean we aren't having fun.
  2. Because the fun game activities are less repetitive (due to their nature of being time sensitive and therefor broken up so it appears less monotonous) and that he finds them more enjoyable than the "fast" methods. -- It isn't fun for you, but it happens to be fun for a lot of people. For example, I don't enjoy performing the metagaming xp/gp and xp/hr activities, but I have a *huge* amount of enjoyment from figuring these meta game aspects out. (For example using statistics to determine how much a +2 accuracy boost from steadfasts helps) Just because its not fun for you doesn't mean others have to dislike it. Start some topics about stuff you enjoy :) There are lots of people who enjoy metagaming on this site, but I would love to see more interest in other aspects of the game :)
  3. It looks like they (finally) have an interface for tracking buffs like anti-poison, overload, and others more consistently. (So I can go see whats on currently, instead of waiting for messages)
  4. Obviously you should keep them for a few years :)
  5. The sad part is that he has to shoot down the proposals :( They shouldn't even be happening in the first place!
  6. Boosting one-time sales at the expense of pushing all your players away doesn't seem to make business sense to me. But you're right, and it is likely we won't all leave, at least not at first.
  7. That is awesome :)
  8. I'm not saying they will be worthless, but they won't have the value of a party hat.
  9. Don't forget we have a lot more servers now also than when the classic discontinued items appeared.
  10. I don't think it will die, but it will be a long time till the mask is worth anything close to a current discontinued item. There has been a long time since the items, and there were originally a lot fewer players so a much lower supply.
  11. It is only a slow and steady decrease if new players come and those new players also stay long enough to even learn what it is...
  12. It will be just like the cheaper discontinued items. Eventually it will rise but it would take years. And its ugly so I don't want it anyways. At least Phats are decent looking..
  13. That would be fun :) I like the idea of more special effects for skilling.
  14. Paul has a great spreadsheet on it, but I don't know how to give you the direct link.
  15. Most likely. Completionist cape tends to require everything.. Might be for trimmed only, but..
  16. It's hard to tell from that image.. But I think it looks better than what we have now.
  17. The cooking urns don't count the bonfire xp bonus from the fish, so the urn fills at the normal values, but you get the 10% bonus xp. This means you need fewer urns because they don't fill faster with the bonus xp.
  18. I think there are quite a few changes necessary a) lower the level of rune smithing to around 50-70. It doesn't have to be as low as the attack, as I belive its more complicated to smith something than it is to wield it. b) if you want to increase the mining rate of runite, then lower high alch. c) Add higher end content for the skill that makes sense (untradable attachments etc?)
  19. That's a long time at the rate they seem to release bosses, unless you mean effective after combat revamp.
  20. There are a lot of issues involved here. I wouldn't mind seeing the tables rebalanced, but it would mean rebalancing the xp rates as well. However, a good analogy for keeping it the way it is: Knowing how to use something != knowing how to make something. Smithing can be considered a highly specialized skill, where making something is difficult even though using it is much easier relatively.
  21. She is 100% solo-able. In fact you aren't allowed to fight her in a group as she is instanced to the player. No competing for spots, but also no help from friends.
  22. The first article was not written like a coherent logical disagreement with the SoF. It had good sourcing on data, but the tone comes across as violent and agressively angry, drawing conclusions that make little sense. I do agree that the Mad May adverts should not have appeared to anyone currently subscribed... We already know, so shut up, Jagex! I think the real problem with the SoF is buyable spins leads to predictable xp rates. I don't mind the SoF generally, and free spins are perfectly fine because everyone gets them. Yes it is annoying that he doesn't even fit into the backstory of the game but not so bad. I hate that Jagex lied and changed their mind but I'm sure its not an individual Mod's decision and they have to stand by what the company says. I hate that spins can be bought for XP and that is the only real reward worth paying for.
  23. Depending on skills, gear, and how good you are at the spots and lures.. I'd think that you should need no more than an hr and a half to reach Jad. I suggest Enhanced Excal over the SGS (unless you don't have the version that gives +400 lp per spec) The Godsword is good but you have to actually get a high hit in for it to be better than the excal, and I don't think the prayer boost would help that much there. I don't know much more about meleeing the caves.
  24. When I did chinning, I found having 2 people increased my XP rate as long as I made sure I didn't stop attacking. 2 people generally means more skeletons, which has an increased chance of at least 9 skeletons being there when you toss a chin. If you don't have 9 skeletons the chin could be "wasted". It might not have been much and I didn't bother recording. I got less xp if I wasn't paying as much attention because they stopped attacking me if a new person showed up so auto retaliate didn't kick in. But that was solved by simply attacking the monkeys every few seconds.
